<p>"So even during the IPL, it was discussed that we will bowl with the red ball. We had red balls, so we were using them. You know when and how to play, how much time you have. This mental switch from white ball to red ball is obviously tough, but we have enough time," Patel told ICC.</p>

<p>Axar further added, "The difference is the Dukes ball remains shinier for longer. But during the IPL, we had ordered the ball, so were practising with it and have gotten used to it." The players who were out of the IPL left first and were followed by the ones whose teams bowed out in the playoffs. <p>Gujarat Titans opening batsman Shubman Gill had a brilliant season in Indian Premier League (IPL) as he scored 890 runs in 16 matches he played in 2023 at an average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 157.80. His performance was 160-run best than Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis, who was a distant second in the season with 730 runs in 14 matches.</p>

<p>Even if Faf (14) had played as many matches as Gill (16) played, he wouldn't have surpassed the GT opener. The reasoning behind this is - Faf averaged 56 in the season and had he played two more matches to equal Gill's tally, he would have ended up with 842 runs or 850 - 40 less than what Gill scored this season.</p>

<p>Former Aussie batter Michael Hussey feels that for India to dominate in the World Test Championship Final, the veteran pair of Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma must click with the bat. Hussey said considering the match is being played in the UK (at the Oval in London), starting on June 7th, the conditions will be a lot different than that in India – where Australia lost the Border-Gavaskar series for the third straight time in March early this year.</p>

<p>Speaking to ICC ahead of the mouth-watering clash for the coveted WTC trophy, Hussey shared his views on how India could take down the star-studded Aussie attack in the conditions that ought to favour seamers than spinners.</p>

<p>Having played alongside the two match winners, Kohli and Rohit, Hussey knows what they can do on a big day.</p>

<p>"It’s hard to see past Virat Kohli," Michael Hussey told the ICC. "He (Kohli) is obviously coming back into some great form again in all forms of the game really, so both he and Rohit Sharma with the bat are going to be important for India."</p>

<p>While the Australian team also have their arsenal ready for the all-important Test, Hussey feels it's Australia's bowling that will trouble the Indians. With skipper Pat Cummins, legendary Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon sure to start, the Oz will have a handy line-up, to begin with.</p>

<p>Having said that, Mr Cricket – as fans used to call Hussey during his playing days, added India also has equally good bowlers in Mohammed Shami and Siraj and the ever-reliable spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin, and for Australia to stay on top of them by the end of the Test, they need to be at their best.</p>

<p>"It is going to be played in England, so English conditions will be different to the recent series in India, so I think the fast bowlers are going to be important," Hussey said. "Pat Cummins (is key for Australia) and Josh Hazlewood might be fit again, which would be nice for Australia.</p>

<p>"But India have got so many great bowlers as well. You’ve got (Mohammed) Siraj and (Mohammed) Shami and obviously the spinners with (Ravindra) Jadeja and (Ravichandran) Ashwin as well. It’s a world-class attack, and the Aussies are going to have to be at their best to beat them," Hussey added.</p>

<p>Having scored 538 runs in 13 matches, Kohli is among the top-five run-getters in IPL 2023; and speaking about the notion around his stroke play, which doesn't reflect his impact and contribution in the true sense, Virat said,</p>

<p>"The way I'm looked at as an IPL player is like 'yeah, he's fine, has a few impact knocks'. It's my sixth IPL hundred. Sometimes I don't give myself enough credit because I put myself under so much stress already. I don't care what anyone says on the outside. That's their opinion," Kohli said following RCB's eight-wicket win in Hyderabad.</p>

<p><strong>Kohli fancies playing in old school style</strong></p>

<p>Having won countless games across formats for several teams he played for in his career, Kohli talked about how staying true to his technique has helped him immensely. With new players trying and even succeeding while executing different styles of shots in this format, Kohli said he need not do anything fancy to find success and instead keep delivering with his style of play.</p>

<p>"When you're in that situation yourself, you know how to win games of cricket. I've done that over a long period of time. It's not like when I play I don't win games for my team," Kohli said. "It's playing the situation that I take pride in. I've never been a guy who plays so many fancy shots. I was having a chat with Aiden [Markram] as well - we've to play 12 months of the year.</p>

<p>"For me, it's not about playing fancy shots and throwing my wicket away. We've got Test cricket (coming up) after the IPL, I have to stay true to my technique. When I can make an impact in an important game, it gives me confidence, it gives the team confidence," the former RCB captain added.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, placed fourth on the points table with 14 points from 13 matches, RCB will have to win its final league game against Gujarat Titans to ensure a top-four finish.</p>

<p>"It is difficult as we had high hopes for the last game. We knew that we were playing a strong team tonight. <h2><strong>'Don't think there is anything serious'</strong></h2>

<p>"Yeah, he had a bit of a niggle in his knee. But I don't think there is anything serious. Having scored two back-to-back hundreds within a gap of 4 days. He is somebody who not only wants to contribute with the bat but even when he is fielding. He did a lot of running around. 40 overs a couple of days ago and today, for 35 overs he was on the field. He was giving his best. So it is going to bother at some point but I don't think it's anything serious," Bangar said in the post-match press conference.</p>

<p>After Kohli's end of campaign in IPL 2023 -- where he returned with&nbsp;639 runs at 139.82 including two centuries and six fifties -- he will next be seen in action in India's upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final where they will face Australia early next month, at The Oval, London. For RCB, they finished sixth with seven wins and equal number of defeats in IPL 2023.</p>

<p>David Warner, who scored 516 runs, crossed the 500-run mark in the IPL for the seventh time - the most by any batsman. The Aussie surpassed Virat Kohli who earlier in the league notched up his sixth 500-run season. Warner, before 2023, had scored 500 or more runs in the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020 seasons.</p>

<p>Virat, who also has 500+ runs this season, had previously recorded such seasons in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018.</p>
