<p>Ponting asserted, "I think it'll be India's top order against Australia's fast bowling, It's a bit of a mouth-watering thought going forward."</p>

<p>"Generally, we think about the battles between India's spinners and Australia's batters. But will that be negated by the wicket at The Oval? Normally the wickets that I've played on at The Oval have started as really good batting wickets, and actually have offered a little bit to the spinners as the game's going on."</p>

<p>"That's what I'd like to see in this wicket - to have a really good contest on day four, day five, or maybe even day six, seeing how it's going," the Delhi Capitals (DC) coach added, who will be part of the commentary panel for the mega finale next month.</p>

You don't even know when Rahul will actually be available. That is why I'm saying, things will change in the next 90 days," he asserted. <p>Former India coach Ravi Shastri wants Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Virat Kohli to be 'careful' of the camera in the wake of recent incidents of the RCB batter with LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir and DC Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly.</p>

<p>Speaking to sports website ESPNCricinfo, Shastri took names of MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar to make a point on how to handle the limelight when the camera is always on you - as in the case of Virat Kohli.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“After the sequence of events last week, someone like a Kohli, someone like a Dhoni...Dhoni knows, he's a pro, that there is a camera on you and that is because you guys deserve it after what you guys contributed to the game. There will a camera on you, like there was on Sachin Tendulkar. Remember once the game is over, the camera is on you all the time until you get into that dressing room. You need to be careful, it's like you are flagged off. If you have that in your mindset...camera, and once the game is over, you will be fine. You can get a lot of brownie points using that camera,” said Shastri.</p>

<p>Virat Kohli's stature always has him in the limelight whether it's for his loss of form or scoring centuries for fun. While the star India and Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman has&nbsp;come back to form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL ) 2023 season, it is his strike rate which has seen experts raise eyebrows at him more often than not.</p>

<p>Virat, however, has been scoring runs at more pace than the last two IPL seasons, but such is his class that even 135, six more than his overall IPL strike rate of 129, isn't a good enough number for the experts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tom Moody, the former Australian cricketer, especially has been critical of Virat Kohli's style of playing. After Virat's last innings against Delhi Capitals in which the batsman scored 55 off 46 at 119, Moody didn't hold back.</p>

<p>Speaking to ESPNCricinfo after Virat's innings, Moody said, "It's an interesting one. We will always have this debate because it is the Virat Kohli template. It's the way he bats. His career strike rate is around 130. His ability to continue to churn out runs is quite extraordinary. But did they get as many as they could have? If he took his foot a little off the brake and went with Lomror, and tried to target a boundary an over himself, we will never know."</p>

But in my view, particularly with the impact player, the game has really moved on from that style of cricket. That's why we are seeing so many totals go to 200+. There is no such role. We all need to be going here at 150+ without a doubt because we have the comfort of depth."</p>

<p>Now let's talk about Virat Kohli's number this season:</p>

<p>The batsman has scored 419 runs in 10 matches this season, batting in every single one of them and remaining not out once. While Virat's average has been an effective 46.56, he has hit the runs at 135.16 and managed to hit 56 times with a high score of 82 not out. Kohli has scored all the runs as an opener for RCB.</p>

<p>Now let's see how other openers have fared:</p>

The batsman albeit scored 400+ runs two times out of three.</p>

<p>Even before 2016 - his best season - Virat had five mediocre seasons despite scoring 600+ and 500+ runs in 2013 and 2015 but at a strike rate of 138.73 and 130.82, respectively. While Virat definitely is back in form this season, having scored 400+ runs in 10 matches, it would definitely be interesting to see if he's able to take the strike rate up by one notch.</p>

<p>Royal Challengers Bangalore's Virat Kohli has become the first batsman in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) to cross 7,000 runs. Virat achieved the feat during match 50 of IPL 2023 against Delhi Capitals.</p>

<p>Before the match against Delhi, Virat had scored 6,988 runs in 232 IPL games - all for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli reached the milestone with a four off DC spinner Axar Patel. Patel bowled the second over of the match and Kohli cut a short ball, fifth of the over, between point and cover point to reach 7,000 runs.</p>

<p>Veteran spinner Amit Mishra, who was Naveen's batting partner at the time and an on-field umpire, had to intervene to calm both players down. The match was almost over by the time the verbal fight broke out between the two players with LSG needing 40 off the last three overs and just two wickets left, including one of injured skipper KL Rahul.</p>

<h2><strong>What are the rules?</strong></h2>

<p>As things stand, any fine imposed on a player is not deducted directly from the player as the franchisee pays the amount at the end of the season, totaling all the offences throughout the campaign. The match fees acquired by the players are registered with the IPL governing council and thus a fine equivalent to their salary is imposed after being found guilty.</p>

<p>At the end of the season, the franchises have the right to deduct the amount from the player’s salary or not while they make the payments to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Also if a team is eligible for certain prize money at the end of the campaign, the fine amount is deducted from it rather than the franchise making any payments.</p>

<p>So Virat who bags a whopping Rs 14 crore for a season won’t be paying the amount of fine directly with the decision in RCB’s hands to decide on whether to deduct it from his salary.</p>

<p>Virat will next take center stage on Saturday in his hometown of Delhi as RCB take on Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.</p>

<p>Kumble wasn't pleased with what transpired between the duo and said that one must respect the opposition and the game after it is over.</p>
