Harry Styles sweeps board at Brit Awards, acknowledging 'privilege'

Fashion is a very unpredictable thing and we are saying this after we saw Sam Smith on the 2023 Brit Awards red carpet. Smith, who was nominated at the awards for the track 'Unholy', became the talk of the internet after they showed up at the award ceremony held on Saturday at the O2 Arena in London, England in a black latex outfit.

The Grammy-winning singer arrived wearing a black latex ensemble by Harri that featured blown-up pants and shoulder pads. Actually, the latex suit is not a new thing, but the unusual design of the outfit is what triggered the chatting online.

The designer behind this outfit was Hari Krishnan, an Indian-born designer based in London. During his recent chat with WWD, he said that the inspiration for the outfit came from the negativity Sam received recently. ''Sam was having a lot of hate comments recently after 'Unholy' about their body image.''

''This is my take on celebrating [their] natural form and the beauty of being one's self. I wanted to create an image, in which people have never seen Sam in.''

The singer, who is non-binary and uses their/their pronouns, made some jaw drops with their latex ensemble, which featured balloon pants and pointed shoulders and obviously looked weird. He completed his looks with black gloves and heels.

The absurd pants and shoulders may look interesting and artistic, but actually, it was not the dress, anyone should take inspiration from.

Soon after he showed up on the red carpet, Smith's look was quick to take the internet by storm.

Reacting to his look, one Twitter user wrote, ''Someone is desperate for attention...wow 😂😂😂🤣😂 #samsmith,“ tweeted one critic.

''The humiliation continues for Sam Smith – WTF is that?''

Brintey Spears is finally speaking out amid all the talk about her mental health. Many media outlets have reported that the pop star has been struggling with her mental health for years, and the situation is so dire now that they are now planning an intervention. "Britney has been acting increasingly erratically, and those around her have become increasingly concerned," a source told People. "She is often up all night, sleeps during the day, and has a lot of anger." After the news became a hot topic, Britney herself came out and addressed the matter. Taking to her Instagram handle, the pop star responded to all the reports and wrote, "It makes me sick to my stomach that it's even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died." "I mean, at some point, enough is enough! I'm probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because, even though I enjoy doing it, there are obviously a lot of people who don't wish me well!" Further, the 'Hold Me Closer' singer urged the public to not believe everything they read.
Google paid homage to Malayalam cinema`s first woman actor PK Rosy on the occasion of her birth anniversary.P. K. Rosy was born on 10 February 1903.

She was the first actress in Malayalam cinema. She acted in J. C. Daniel`s directorial `Vigathakumaran` (The Lost Child). She was born `Rajamma` in 1903 to a Pulaya family in Nandankode, Trivandrum. Her father passed away while she was very young, leaving her family in extreme poverty, according to her living relatives. She worked as a grass cutter when she was younger. She also had a strong interest in the arts, which her uncle nurtured by helping her find a music and acting instructor.

She also routinely attended the neighbourhood school of performing arts to study Kakkirasi Nattakam, a style of Tamil folk theatre based on tales of Siva and Parvati`s arrival on Earth as nomads and performed in a combination of Tamil and Malayalam.

Acting was not traditionally regarded as a woman`s vocation in those days, and women who thought acting was a serious career were deemed licentious or "loose". Rosy`s passion for acting seems to have outweighed any worries she may have had about what people would think of her.

Many people assert that her family changed her name from Rajamma to Rosamma after converting to Christianity. In her first movie `Vigathakumaran`, she portrayed the Nair woman Sarojini. A Youtube video that goes by the name `Rosiyude Kadha - Part 2 (The story of the first Heroine of Malayalam Film Industry)` has revealed that the fact that a Dalit woman played a Nair woman in `Vigathukumaran` infuriated members of the Nair community.

Many prominent people in the film industry at the time, including the well-known attorney Madhoor Govindan Pillai, declined to attend the Vigathakumaran premiere if Rosy was going to be physically present. The audience hurled rocks at the screen after a moment in which the main character kissed a flower in her hair.

Daniel, the director, declined to personally invite her to the Capitol Theatre in Thiruvananthapuram`s opening night out of concern for the reaction. Rosy had gone anyhow, but those who were boycotting the event had her see a second performance.

''With our hearts full of love and so many memories, we can’t wait to build even more special ones and begin this new journey together. Seeking your love & blessings. ''

In the photos, both the bride and the groom are looking stunning. Ditching pink and pastel colours, Shivaleeka chose to wear a bright red traditional lehenga with golden embroidery on her big day. She accessorized her look with heavy polki jewellery. On the other hand, Abhishek was looking dapper in a creme colour sherwani with silver embroidery. The couple were wearing customised Manish Malhotra
outfits.

After dating for years, Abhishek proposed to Shivaleeka in Turkey last year under hot air balloons.

Sharing the dreamy proposal video, Abhishek wrote, ''From calling me Pathak to finally saying YES to becoming one!❤️❤️❤️@shivaleekaoberoi ❤️❤️.''

With a promise to present 'Har Din Naya Drama' to the television audience, Zee Theatre has announced 'Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti,' an adaptation of William Shakespeare's famous comedy 'Taming of the Shrew.'

Drenched in 90s nostalgia, this visual feast is directed by cinema and theatre veteran Akarsh Khurana and stars Prajakta Koli in her teleplay debut along with Shikha Talsania, Chaitnya Sharma, and Adhaar Khurana. The central conflict of the plot is that lovebirds Lakshman (Chaitnya Sharma) and Priya (Prajakta Koli) cannot marry each other until the latter's elder sister Pallavi (Shikha Talsania) gets married. Lakshman then devises a hilarious plan and tries to get Pallavi hitched to an eligible NRI groom (Adhaar Khurana). What follows is absolute mayhem, endless fun, and impossible wedding moments.

Talking about the rollicking entertainer that will be premiered on February 19th at Tata Play Theatre, director Akarsh Khurana says, "Some stories are just an absolute joy to tell, and 'Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti' was one such project from the very beginning. The cast and crew and I absolutely loved blending the colourful quirks of the 1990s with the comedic genius of Shakespeare, both of which I grew up loving. Adhir Bhat's script, Lisha Bajaj's hilarious one-liners, and the actors' energy brought the house down every time we rehearsed. I have no doubt that the audience will enjoy this story immensely."

Sharing her experience, actress Prajakta Koli adds, "I have done theatre before, and working with Akarsh has always been a treat. He is like a mentor and guide to so many young actors, and I always go to him to have heart-to-heart conversations. Even though he is a prankster, he always draws the best out of actors, and I trusted him completely to guide me through my first teleplay and had an absolutely wonderful time on the sets. The joy we experienced during the shoot is palpable in the final cut. The audience will appreciate how "extra" and full of fun this teleplay is!"

Actress Shikha Talsania, who plays Pallavi in the teleplay, says, "Shakespeare + the 90s + Akarsh + collaborating once again with dear friends = Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti." "I had a great time playing Pallavi; I took inspiration from all the actors of the nineties that I’ve adored and brought a whole lot of my own madness to it."

Police in Bangladesh received a desperate plea from a man who urged to be rescued from a mob that has surrounded his home in Dhaka. "Please save me," the man is reported to have said on the country's emergency speed dial 999. "I have killed a woman. Locals have surrounded my house and they will kill me," the man said, according to the South Asian country's Daily Star newspaper. When police reached the caller's address in Dhaka's Uttarkhan area, they found him locked inside his room, surrounded by angry locals, the report added. Police are then reported to have rescued Hazrat Ali, 47, unhurt. Later on, he was arrested for murdering the woman with whom, according to police, he was involved in an extramarital affair. An altercation followed and the woman was subsequently killed. "The woman screamed for help when Hazrat hit her head with a heavy spice crusher. He then beat her to death," the official is further reported to have said in his confession. "Hearing her scream, locals surrounded the house. Fearing possible assault by the enraged locals, Hazrat locked him inside the room and called 999 for help," he added. Melanie Lynskey defends her casting in ‘The Last of Us’, says 'I don’t need to be muscly'

A team of three codebreakers have found and deciphered the long-lost secret letters of 16th-century monarch Mary, the Queen of Scots. The codebreakers belonged to the DECRYPT project, an international, cross-disciplinary team scouring the world's archives to find coded historical documents to decipher, a report by news agency AFP on Wednesday (February 8) said. The codebreakers were trawling through the digitised archive of France's national library when they stumbled over enciphered documents labelled as being from Italy in the first half of the 16th century. They found 57 letters of Mary containing about 50,000 never-before-seen words.

"If someone wanted to look for Mary Stuart material in the BnF (France's national library), that's the last place they would go," French computer scientist and cryptographer George Lasry told AFP. Lasry said deciphering the code "was like peeling an onion" for the team which included German music professor Norbert Biermann and Japanese physicist Satoshi Tomokiyo.

ALSO READ | UK man admits ‘threatening to kill’ Queen Elizabeth II, to be sentenced on March 31

Mary Stuart, a Catholic, had written these letters from 1578 to 1584 while she was jailed in England because of the perceived threat she posed to Queen Elizabeth I, her Protestant cousin. In 1587, Mary was beheaded after she was found guilty of plotting to assassinate Queen Elizabeth I.

The team of codebreakers discovered that the text (of the letters) was not in Italian, but in French. The text also used feminine forms, indicating a woman. Phrases such as "my liberty" and "my son" suggested it was an imprisoned mother.

Then came the word "Walsingham"- which meant Francis Walsingham- who was Queen Elizabeth I's principal secretary and spymaster. George Lasry told AFP that some historians believed it was Walsingham who later entrapped Mary in 1586 into supporting the foiled plot to assassinate Elizabeth I.

Lasry added that out of the 57 letters found, eight were already in Britain's archives as Walsingham had a spy in the French embassy from mid-1583.

AFP reported that the majority of Mary's letters were addressed to the French ambassador to England Michel de Castelnau Mauvissiere. Lasry further told the news agency that the Queen of Scots was "too smart" to mention any assassination plot in the unearthed letters.

Instead, these letters showed Mary diplomatically pleading her case, complaining of illness and expressing distress when her son, King James VI of Scotland, was abducted.

ALSO READ | UK man admits ‘threatening to kill’ Queen Elizabeth II, to be sentenced on March 31 Mary Stuart, a Catholic, had written these letters from 1578 to 1584 while she was jailed in England because of the perceived threat she posed to Queen Elizabeth I, her Protestant cousin. Meanwhile, historians praised the code-breaking and historical research of the team. In a statement, British historian John Guy who wrote a biography on Mary Stuart, said, "This discovery is a literary and historical sensation. Fabulous! This is the most important new find on Mary, Queen of Scots for 100 years." Another historian, Steven Reid from the University of Glasgow said this was the largest discovery of new Marian evidence in the modern era.
As music's elite gather in Los Angeles for the Grammy awards on Sunday, one question is playing on loop: Will Beyonce finally win the coveted Album of the Year prize?

The 41-year-old has the most chances at Grammy gold with nine nominations, following the release of "Renaissance," her rich, layered ode to club music.

She is a powerhouse contender for the night's major awards -- but the same goes for British balladeer Adele, whose introspective ode to the ugly cry, "30," earned her seven nods.

The face-off has prompted obvious comparisons to 2017, when Adele swept the top prizes at the glitzy music biz gala, shutting out Queen Bey's culture-shaking "Lemonade."

Six years later, Beyonce has continued to make history as the Grammys' winningest woman; with four more victories on Sunday, she could overtake classical conductor Georg Solti for the most victories by any artist.

But when it comes to the big three awards -- best album, best record, and best song -- Beyonce curiously remains something of an underdog.

She has never won Album of the Year honors and although she has the most Record of the Year nods with eight, she's never won that prize either.

She only scored Song of the Year once, for 2008's "Single Ladies."

But industry watchers including Billboard predict this will finally be Beyonce's year to take home the Grammy for Album of the Year, arguably the night's most prestigious prize.
