CM Vijay-Sangeetha divorce case: Family court adjourns proceedings until August after no-show

At the 11th&nbsp;Governing Council Meeting of the NITI Aayog(Government body that replaced the Planning Commission), chaired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay expressed that the state is opposed to the NEET Medical Entrance exam and that the Government of Tamil Nadu is committed to protecting the rights of its students.&nbsp;The introduction of NEET Exam for admission to undergraduate medical and dental courses, has affected the students from rural and socio-economically disadvantaged families. In view of the above, the Government of Tamil Nadu may be permitted to fill all seats under the State quota in MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH courses based solely on Class XII marks, said Chief Minister Vijay, reiterating the stance of the DMK Government which ruled Tamil Nadu before him. Following the ceremonial launch, Vijay got into the driver’s seat to lead a convoy of the task force.&nbsp;&nbsp;Speaking at the event, Vijay said that his promise of ensuring the safety of women and children was not just a poll promise, but it was a genuine and heartfelt promise. Emphasising that his government has zero tolerance for crimes against women, Vijay said that he was happy to launch the task force within a month of having taken office.&nbsp;&nbsp;“Women and girl children must be safe and confident… this is the first step towards that… the horrors being perpetrated against women are absolutely shocking and heartbreaking… when we analyse these crimes, it all leads to drug and narcotics use… It (narcotics) must be uprooted… The spread of narcotics has been going on for many years, it became so deep-rooted as it was ignored for many years. Drug culture must be uprooted, only then women’s safety will be strong, law and order will improve... If individuals are responsible, many such issues can be controlled. <h2>Issues raised during the Modi-Vijay meeting</h2>During the meeting, Vijay raised several issues concerning Tamil Nadu. He requested the Centre to clarify rules regarding the singing of Tamil Thai Vaazhtthu, the Tamil Nadu state song, at government events. Internal rift in All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) deepened on Wednesday (May 13) as party chief Edappadi K Palaniswami removed party leaders from their posts for supporting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. This comes after the legislature party witnessed a vertical split during the trust vote on the floor of the Assembly. While a total of 25 MLAs, including senior leaders SP Velumani, C Ve Shanmugam and C Vijayabaskar, voted in favour of the confidence motion moved by CM Vijay, 22 MLAs led by Palaniswami voted against it.Following the voting, AIADMK chief removed the rebel leaders, filling the vacant positions with new district secretaries and party functionaries. Natham Viswanathan has also been removed from the posts of AIADMK Deputy General Secretary and Dindigul East District Secretary.

While a total of 25 MLAs, including senior leaders SP Velumani, C Ve Shanmugam and C Vijayabaskar, voted in favour of the confidence motion moved by CM Vijay, 22 MLAs led by Palaniswami voted against it. Following the voting, AIADMK chief removed the rebel leaders, filling the vacant positions with new district secretaries and party functionaries. Natham Viswanathan has also been removed from the posts of AIADMK Deputy General Secretary and Dindigul East District Secretary.
