Pakistan's captain, Salman Ali Agha, shared his thoughts on the interactions between him and India's captain, Suryakumar Yadav, during the Asia Cup, claiming that Suryakumar Yadav shook hands with him in private at the beginning of the tournament but refrained from doing so in front of the cameras. "He shook hands with me in private at the start of the tournament," Agha was quoted as saying to the reporters after the final. "Both at the pre-tournament press conference and when we met in the referee's meeting. But when they're out in front of the cameras, they don't shake our hands. I'm sure he's following the instructions he's been given, but if it was up to him, he'd shake hands with me," he added. Agha also expressed his disappointment over certain actions during the tournament. "What India has done in this tournament is very disappointing," he said. "They're not disrespecting us by not shaking hands—they're disrespecting cricket. Good teams don't do what they did today. We went to pose with the trophy on our own because we wanted to fulfill our obligations. We stood there and took our medals. I don't want to use harsh words, but they've been very disrespectful. This is the first time I've ever seen this happen. Whatever happened in this tournament was very bad, and I hope it stops at some stage because it's bad for cricket," he added. Also Read: Asia Cup Final 2025: Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha skipped press conferences but says India 'disrespecting cricket' Agha also reflected on the broader impact such actions could have on cricket fans, especially the younger generation. “I'm not just a Pakistan captain, I'm a cricket fan. Archer to Suryakumar, SIX runs! We all remember the first ball the current Indian T20I skipper faced in international cricket. Asia Cup 2025: 'Convention, not law,' says BCCI official on India vs Pakistan handshake snub

India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in their Asia Cup 2025 encounter on Sunday (Sep 14) as the Men in Blue continued their dominance in the fixture. Playing at the Dubai International Stadium, Suryakumar Yadav-led India registered a dominating seven-wicket victory. However, whenever these two teams meet, it’s more than just a game; it’s full of drama, emotions, and sometimes controversy. This time, the controversy wasn’t about the match itself. It was about what happened before and after it. India vs Pak, Asia Cup 2025: After handshake snub by India, Pak cries 'poor behaivour' from match referee

Moments after Team India triumphed over arch-rivals Pakistan in a one-sided 2025 Asia Cup Group game on Sunday (Sep 14), Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20I captain, said he and his Men in Blue stand in solidarity with the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, and that they want to dedicate this win to the brave armed forces that led the Operation Sindoor. Suryakumar Yadav drops MAJOR life update, says ‘can’t wait to be back’

Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Suryakumar Yadav has broken a 15-year-old long-standing IPL record held by cricket great and former franchise hero Sachin Tendulkar. Against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the side’s last league game in IPL 2025 on Monday (May 26), Suryakumar completed his fifth fifty of the season (57); he also surpassed Sachin’s tally of 618 runs (619* runs) in a single edition, topping the list of MI batters with most runs in an edition. The batting maestro scored 618 runs in the 2010 edition, a record that remained untouched for over a decade. However, SKY, a Mumbai Indians veteran, broke this record and created a few more during his brief knock. Ahead of the game, the right-handed batter needed 36 runs to surpass Sachin’s tally, achieving this feat in the 15th over by pulling seamer Arshdeep Singh for a single. Meanwhile, Suryakumar had come close to breaching it earlier, during the 2023 edition, where he ended the season with 605 runs. Here’s the list of MI batters with the most runs in a single IPL season -

619* - Suryakumar Yadav (2025)

618 - Sachin Tendulkar (2010)

605 - Suryakumar Yadav (2023)

553 - Sachin Tendulkar (2011)

540 - Lendl Simmons (2015)

538 - Rohit Sharma (2013)

More records tumble in Jaipur
Surya also created a couple more records to guide Mumbai to a fighting first-inning total of 184 for seven. When Mumbai Indians star batter, Suryakumar Yadav, walked out to bat against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday (21 May), the Mumbai crowd expected a Surya storm: the flicks behind square, ramps over the keeper, and a fully unorthodox innings. But what followed was a complete opposite innings. It wasn’t an ordinary T20 knock but a masterclass in control and maturity. In a must-win game to seal the fourth playoff spot, he quickly understood this wasn't the normal Wankhede pitch. That resulted in him looking for singles and doubles and taking the game deep, similar to what former Indian captain MS Dhoni did for India. Also Read | IPL 2025: Advantage PBKS, RCB as GT's defeat to LSG leaves race for Qualifier 1 spot wide open At the sluggish pitch, where Delhi spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam found bite from the surface, Surya controlled his temptations and just looked to tap them. Usually, he just takes fewer than 10 balls to hit the first maximum. Interestingly, all of his sixes were hit between the range of extra cover to the deep-mid wicket. This is not the Surya we know. However, defying all odds, this was the Surya who played a playoff-securing knock. What makes this inning praiseworthy is how it was crafted. There were only three boundaries behind the stumps, those too on the off side. The rest of his shots stayed in front of the wicket. No sweeps, no scoops, just pure timing, placement and presence of mind.

Wagonwheel of Surya's boundaries in the innings

At the end of the 18th over, MI were 132/5 and everyone believed 160 was far from reality. But then came the Surya storm, accumulating 47 runs in the last two overs with the support of Naman Dhir. He hit boundaries in the final two overs towards extra covers, deep mid-wicket and a gentle tap between wicketkeeper and short third man. And towards the end, this Surya special innings turned out to be the difference between the two sides. This inning proved that T20 cricket is not just about blind slogging but playing according to the conditions, pitch and team requirements. In a game that could’ve made things worse for Mumbai, he played like their anchor and their finisher.

He hit his first six when facing his 21st delivery of Mustafizur Rahman by dancing down the track.
