Best replies from Shah Rukh Khan's AskSRK session - from Fifa world cup to 'Pathaan'

Shah Rukh Khan attended the inaugural session of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival along with Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Taking to the stage, Indian superstar spoke of the perils of social media.

He said that social media has a “certain driven narrowness of view” and it makes the collective narrative “divisive and destructive”.

“Social media is often given by a certain driven narrowness of view that limits human nature to its baser self. I read somewhere that negativity increases social media consumption, and thereby increases its commercial value as well. Such pursuits enclose the collective narrative, making it divisive and destructive,” Shah Rukh Khan said.

“Contrary to the belief that the spread of social media will affect cinema negatively, I believe cinema has an even more important role to play now…Cinema exposes the vulnerability of human nature by telling stories in their simplest form as they are lived,” he added.

This statement comes at a time when Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘Pathaan’ has become the butt of memes and jokes. Trolls have said derogatory things about the songs that have been released ahead of the film’s premiere. The film’s lead actress Deepika Padukone has come under the fire for wearing a bikini in one of the songs from the film.

Shah Rukh Khan, meanwhile, is the brand ambassador for West Bengal and has been attending the Kolkata International Film Festival’s inauguration ceremonies for the past few years. At the event, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not hesitate to express her fondness for the actor and said that she ties ‘ rakhi’ to Shah Rukh.

Just a week after Aryan Khan announced his debut in films as a writer, he has now also revealed his foray into the world of business. The 25-year-old son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is planning to launch a premium vodka brand in India. He and his partners have reportedly tied up with the world's largest brewing company.

Aryan had announced his foray into films as a showrunner and writer of a web series that he will also reportedly direct. The series is being backed by his parent's production company Red Chillies entertainment.

Unlike other star kids, Aryan has decided to make his debut behind the screen instead of acting. Now, just like his famous father, Aryan is diversifying into business avenues as well.

According to a Mint report, Aryan and his two partners--Bunty Singh and Leti Blagoeva--are planning to launch a premium vodka brand and expand into the brown spirits market later. The trio have also launched a company called Slab Ventures, which has partnered with the local arm of Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev), the world’s largest brewer, for distribution and marketing purposes.

Talking about his business venture, Aryan told Mint, “We thought there was a kind of a void in the current space. And when there’s a void, there’s an opportunity, and I think businesses are all about opportunity."

The premium brand aims to cater to affluent consumers of the country and they also plan to introduce both alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic beverages.

"The thought was to kind of combine high quality, a youthful disruptive vision, and cool aesthetics, and bring it under one roof, and by doing that, appeal to the more mature, discerning consumers as well as the younger generation,” said Aryan.

Aryan is Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's oldest child. He has two siblings--sister Suhana Khan, who is gearing up for her own Bollywood debut with Zoya Akhtar’s 'The Archies,' and AbRam Khan, who is 9 years old.

Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and producer Gauri Khan is all set to make his debut in films. Aryan announced his maiden project on Tuesday on social media. Unlike his younger sister Suhana, who is making her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar's 'Archies' movie, Aryan will not be facing the camera. Instead, he will be donning the writer's hat for a new project which will be backed by his parents' production house Red Chillies Entertainment. Aryan shared a glimpse of the script on social media and wrote, "Wrapped with the writing…can’t wait to say action." Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan is all set to make his film debut but there's a catch

A few days back a video of Sharon Stone fangirling over Shah Rukh Khan at the opening ceremony of the Red Sea International Film Festival went viral. Now, Stone has reacted to the video and admitted she was 'star-struck' by Khan.

The two were seated two seats apart from each other at the event and when the host introduced Khan to the audience, Stone realised who he was and said, 'Oh my god.' The reaction was recorded in a viral video.

Now, at another event during the fest, Stone talked about her reaction and said, “Shah Rukh Khan was two seats away from me and I didn't know he was there. And I reached forward and saw him and I am not very easily star-struck because I know a lot of stars but I saw him and I was just like," she said as she recreated the gasping moment.

Shah Rukh received a honorary award at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah on Thursday. In the audience with Stone was also actress Priyanka Chopra, who clapped for Shah Rukh as he received the award. Khan's co-star of many films, Kajol too attended the event.

Film is a unifier because it transits shared human experiences across cultures. You like a film because it stirs your emotions, be it in whatever language or culture it is from. And Thank God for subtitles. It brings all that is human to the fore and it shows perhaps better than any other art, how despite the immense diversity of the world we live in, our basic pursuits and emotions are the same," he said after receiving the award.

Shah Rukh Khan's 'Dunki' becomes the first Bollywood film to shoot in Neom, Saudi Arabia

Indian film star Shah Rukh Khan recently wrapped the Saudi Arabia schedule of his upcoming film 'Dunki'. He was spotted in Mecca. The city is home to the holiest site in Islam (Masjid al-Haram), and King Khan, as he is called by his fans, was seen performing Umrah in the mosque. Several photos and videos of the superstar performing the ritual have gone viral on social media sites. He can be seen wearing a white garment and is also wearing a face mask. You can see the pictures below.

Umrah is a pilgrimage in Islam that is subordinate to Hajj. While the latter is the religious duty of every Muslim as per the Quran, the former can be undertaken at any time of the year.

Shah Rukh Khan was one of guests of honour at the opening ceremony of the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah on Thursday night. The actor was part of a huge lineup of stars from across the world who descended for the opening ceremony of the festival which also included Kajol, AR Rahman, Sharon Stone, Priyanka Chopra, and Lucy Hale, and others.

While the festival was a starry affair, a video clip of Khan getting introduced by the host during the inaugural ceremony is going viral. Not for Khan as such but for Hollywood legend Sharon Stone who was seated next to him.

The host reportedly walked towards Khan, who was seated with other dignitaries and said, "Gentleman at the back. Did someone tell you that you look like Shah Rukh Khan?” To which the actor stood up smiled and bowed to the cheering audience. The clip shows Stone suddenly realising who she is seated next to, and saying 'oh my god' in surprise and applauding the actor. The shock and surprise on her face is evident.

Khan eventually, in his charming style, bows down and plants a kiss on Stone's hand, and sits down.

Before visiting SRK's Mannat, Ayushmann attended Adani Ahmedabad Marathon’s 6th Edition on Sunday morning. Nearly 1,700 runners from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force participated in the marathon along with the other 12,000 runners, to promote the original #Run4OurSoldiers programme.

Sharing a photo from the marathon, the actor wrote, "Main toh bas reel ka (I am just a reel hero) #AnActionHero hoon (I am an action hero). Real action heroes are the brave hearts of India’s Armed Forces. Forever indebted to them. It was an absolute honour to flag off the #Run4OurSOLDIERS Marathon in Ahmedabad today." The conversations keep bubbling on Hotstar Specials 'Koffee With Karan' Season 7’s twelfth episode as a brand-new trio graces the couch. This time, the show’s iconic host Karan Johar welcomes Gauri Khan, who returns to the couch after 17 years. She is joined by close friends Maheep Kapoor and Bhavana Pandey, as they mark their debut on the show. Ringing in all the elements of candid, humour and wit, the three women spill the beans on airport looks and Bollywood parties.
Looks like Bollywood's lean phase is finally coming to an end. The Hindi film industry's big release last Friday, Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra' received a good response at the theatres and has had a 'fabulous' opening weekend.

The film has reportedly, earned over Rs 120 crore (USD 15 million approx) at the Indian box office. Not just that, the film grossed the most numbers worldwide and ran to packed theatres overseas.

Considering there was no major Hollywood release on September 9, 'Brahmastra' particularly did well in several cities of Australia, New Zeland and the US.
