<h2>CSK fall short</h2>

Asked to chase 203, CSK made a good start with Ruturaj Gaikwad as he and Devon Conway took the matters against RR bowling in the powerplays. Gaikwad was the attacking from the duo as he scored 47 off 29 while Conway (8) was shown the doors by Adam Zampa on the final ball of the powerplay. Ajinkya Rahane (15) soon followed and was not in good touch on the night and could not replicate his form.

Playing for the second time this season both RR and CSK turned up for the contest while Jaiswal was seen in great nick with his well-made 77 off just 43 deliveries. Having scored some important runs in the IPL, his innings steered the side to 202/5 with Dhruv Jurel applying the finishing touches as they try to do a double over the four-time champions.

Having opted to bat first, Jaiswal did not let his captain own as he started with a commanding approach. He and Jos Buttler stitched an 86-run stand for the first wicket and were instrumental in creating the foundation of the RR innings. While Buttler was dismissed for 27, Jaiswal continued the onslaught that saw him score 8 fours and 4 sixes.

He was striking a strike rate of almost 180 as it also paved the way for him to enter the top five of the Orange Cap standings. He now has 304 runs in eight matches which contain three fifties and has been striking at a good rate.

After leading Rajasthan Royals (RR) to a three-run win over his former franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2023, on Wednesday (April 12), R Ashwin was fined 25 per cent of his match fees for breaching IPL Code of Conduct. Ashwin, who was awarded the Player-of-the-Match for his 30 (22) and 2 for 25 (4) in Chennai,&nbsp;criticised select decisions made by the umpires in the ongoing season and, thus, paid a heavy price for it.

'Some of the decisions&nbsp;have left me a little flummoxed'

After the match, Ashwin said, "I'm quite surprised the umpires changed the ball for dew on their own. It's never happened before and I'm quite surprised." He added, "Some of the decisions in this year's IPL on the field have left me a little flummoxed, to be honest. It left me flummoxed in a good or bad way because what you need is a little bit of balance. We're going as a bowling team and we're not asking for the ball to be changed. But the ball was changed on the umpire's accord. What reason - I did ask the umpire but he said we can change it.

“So I hope every time there's dew they can change it - every single time going forward in this IPL. You can do whatever you want but you need to be standard," Ashwin concluded.

For his comments, Ashwin admitted to the Level 1 Offence under Article 2.7 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. It is to be noted that&nbsp;Article 2.7 states, "Public criticism of, or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in a Match or any Player, Team Official, Match Official or Team participating in any Match, irrespective of when such criticism or inappropriate comment is made."

It was a brilliant batting performance from the Royals, who were far from favourites after CSK posted a strong total of 189 runs, batting first on a slowish surface in Abu Dhabi. However, Jaiswal combined with his opening partner Evin Lewis to get his team off to a flyer. The young opener slammed 50 off just 21 balls laced with six fours and three sixes.

It was a sensational knock from Jaiswal, who posted a 77-run stand for the first wicket with Lewis (27 off 12 balls). The two openers took the CSK bowlers to the cleaners from the word go and set up a comfortable victory for their side. Jaiswal was elated to receive CSK skipper MS Dhoni's autograph on his bat after the match.

Jaiswal, who regards Dhoni as one of his idols, got his autograph on the same bat with which he played a match-winning knock against CSK on Saturday. In a video shared by IPL's official website, Jaiswal revealed he was happy to get his bat signed by Dhoni.

“I was thinking about looking at the wicket first, but we were chasing 190, I knew the wicket must be good. I was just looking at capitalising on the loose balls and giving my team a good start so that we are able to chase 190,” Jaiswal told Shivam Dube and Anuj Rawat in a video shared by IPL's official site post the match.

Dhoni admitted that a similar type of thing could happen in the playoffs where a team might lose despite scoring a good total and he urged his side to "learn" from the game. "It's important to forget but also learn from this game, because there's no point learning if this happens in a playoff match," he said during the post-match presentation.&nbsp;
