Uthappa added, "When Sanju Samson plays for the Rajasthan Royals, there also he can play half the season at the top order and the remaining half at No. 6. so that he can build familiarity. When he plays for India, it's not a given that he would get the No. 3 spot. Suryakumar Yadav might take the spot or Virat Kohli might play at No. 3. So he needs to be prepared for both positions."

Samson will like to come up with significant contributions in the remaining four T20Is and help Hardik &amp; Co. win the series. He scored an impressive 41-ball 51 in the third and final ODI and, hence, has form on his side to turn the tides in the upcoming games.&nbsp;

IPL 2023: Ex-CSK batter Robin Uthappa laments Mumbai's bowling

Why I value this partnership and journey with RCB so much, is because in the first 3 years of the IPL, they backed me a lot. Even when the retentions happened, they said, 'we want to retain you'. My only feedback to Ray Jennings at the time was 'I want to bat in top-order. I bat at 3 for India, and I want to bat at 3'. And they said, 'okay, you will bat at 3'. They showed faith in me at the time when I needed it. I was growing in my international career as well,” Kohli told Robin Uthappa during an interview for&nbsp;JioCinema.

Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is known for his calm presence on the field and being open about his thoughts off it. Dhoni, who has now retired from international cricket and is regarded as one of the best captains around the world, will next be seen in IPL 2023, starting March 31.

“MS is a very open person. He does not hesitate in speaking the truth, even if it hurts you. I remember when I was signed by CSK in the auction, he called me and said, I am not sure if you’ll get a chance to play because the season is still far away and I haven’t given it any thought. If you do end up playing, I will let you know. By now, I had enjoyed 13 successful years in the IPL. Still, he told me to my face what he had to do. I still appreciate that a lot,” Uthappa said.

Notably, Dhoni is one of the most successful skippers in the history of IPL, having won 123 matches and lost 86 out of 210 matches he has captained in with one ending in no-result.

Last season, Dhoni, who is 41-year-old now, made way for Ravindra Jadeja to lead CSK last season but took back the reins mid-season after a string of losses. CSK eventually finished the 14-game season with just four wins and 10 losses.

The next season of the marquee league begins on March 31 with Dhoni expected to lead the side.

Former India batter Robin Uthappa recently recalled Yuvraj Singh's famous six sixes off an over against Stuart Broad in the T20 World Cup 2007. Ex-India all-rounder Yuvraj scripted history as he became the first batter in the world to smash six sixes off six consecutive deliveries in a T20I game.

Yuvraj had an altercation with England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff during the game before he punished Broad in the next over. The former India all-rounder looked in sensational touch as smacked Broad to all parts of the ground in an over that remains etched in the memories of millions of Indian cricket fans.

Recalling Yuraj's brilliant feat, Uthappa revealed the entire Indian team didn't move from their places in the dressing room while Yuvraj was going after Broad in the famous over. The former India batter said Dinesh Karthik wanted to use the loss at the time but he was not allowed to do so by his teammates, as it was decided no one will move from their places.

"I got out, went to the dressing room, took my pads off and came down. But by the time I reached, the altercation had already happened. But I knew from Yuvi's body language, that he was pumped up," Uthappa said recalling the incident on Star Sports.

"Pehla chhakkka dekhke laga, paaji gusse me hai (When I saw the first six, I thought he is angry). When he hit the second one, we thought he might be on to something here. After the third six, everyone was like, 'just sit wherever you are'. It think it was DK or somebody else, he wanted to go to the loo. We just said, 'nobody is moving. Just stay put until the over gets over'," he added.

Yuvraj went on to smash the fastest fifty in the history of T20Is off just 12 balls after his onslaught against Broad, who ended up conceding a staggering 60 runs off his four overs in the game. Yuvraj finished with 58 off 16 balls laced with seven sixes and three fours as India went on to post a humongous total of 218 runs on the board.

Uthappa, in fact, has chosen to announce his retirement on the 15th anniversary of India's famous win against Pakistan after a bowl-out in the group stage of the 2007 T20 World Cup. It was Dhoni's first game as the captain of the Indian team and Uthappa was one of the players who successfully hit the stumps during the bowl-out to secure a thrilling win for the Men in Blue.

While Uthappa's international career never took off despite him being part of the T20 World Cup-winning team in 2007, he went on to become one of the greats of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Uthappa played for teams like Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and CSK in his IPL career.

IPL 2022: Dwaine Pretorius for Chris Jordan? Predicting CSK's XI for marquee clash versus MI

Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa's scintillating strokeplay was complemented by a stellar performance from the spinners as Chennai Super Kings notched up a 23-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore to open their account in the 15th IPL here on Tuesday.

Invited to bat, Dube (95 not out) and Uthappa (88 off 50 balls) conjured up commanding unbeaten half-centuries, smashing 17 sixes and 9 fours between them en route to a 165-run stand -- the overall highest for the third wicket and the highest of this season -- to take CSK to an imposing 216 for 4.

In reply, RCB was restricted to 193 for nine, with young spinner Maheesh Theekshana (4/33) and skipper Ravindra Jadeja (3/39) running riot with seven wickets between them in CSK's 200th IPL game.

With this win, the defending champions finally snapped their four-match losing streak, while for Bangalore, it was just their second loss in five matches.

Chasing an improbable 217, RCB lost skipper Faf du Plessis (8), who became Theekshana's first victim and star-batter Virat Kohli (1), who was removed by Mukesh Choudhary, inside the first five overs.

In-form Anuj Rawat (12) too fell inside the power-play after being trapped in front of the wicket by Theekshana. 
The 21-year-old spinner from Sri Lanka, who was picked for Rs 70 lakh in the mega auction, then cleaned up debutant Suyash Prabhudessai (34) and Shahbaz Ahmed (41), who tried to take the game deep with their quick 60-run stand off 33 balls.

Theekshana castled Prabhudessai, after the ball beat the inside edge and crashed into the middle stump and then used the carrom ball to dismiss Ahmed and cap off a match-winning spell under the lights.

Dinesh Karthik did create a scare with his 14-ball 34, but that was too little and too late as CSK heaved a sigh of relief with their first points on the board.

At the start, Dube and Uthappa feasted on the RCB attack, smashing scintillating half-centuries. Earlier, invited to bat, Uthappa and Dube showed their six hitting prowess as they rallied the innings after CSK was reeling at 36 for 2.

While Uthappa's knock was studded with nine sixes and four boundaries, Dube also hit eight sixes and five fours in his unbeaten 46-ball knock. Both Dube and Uthappa posted their highest IPL scores to set up the match for defending champions CSK, who are reeling from four straight losses and are still looking for their first win this season.

Uthappa took time to settle and fetched his first boundary only in the fifth over, a cut shot off Mohammed Siraj (0/37), before clobbering Akash Deep (0/58) for his first maximum in the next over.

Uthappa and Dube then upped the ante as they hammered a boundary each off Deep and then the lanky left-handed batter launched into Glenn Maxwell (0/29) for his first six over long-on. The carnage started from the 11th over as the duo went hammer and tongs and CSK cruised to 133 for 2 in the 15th&nbsp;over, with 73 runs coming in the five overs.

Dube was brutal on Wanindu Hasaranga (2/35), who bled 13 runs, in the 11th over. Uthappa and Dube spared no bowler with the former striking three sixes off Maxwell in the 13th over as CSK amassed 19 runs.

Continuing the onslaught, the duo punished Deep in the 15th over, as it was raining boundaries and sixes here. 
Uthappa stepped up the attack after his fifty and launched into Siraj, hitting him for two sixes and a four in the 17th over, where 18 runs came.

Veteran Indian batter Robin Uthappa has revealed he was completely into depression and was not at all in the right mental space during his first season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Uthappa was part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) squad in the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008 but was later transferred to RCB.

During a conversation with Indian spinner R Ashwin on his YouTube channel, Uthappa revealed he didn't want to go to RCB from the Mumbai Indians but someone at MI told him that he is unlikely to get a chance to play for the franchise if he decided to stay and not opt for the transfer.

Uthappa revealed he battled depression during IPL 2009 which was his first season with RCB and his mental space also affected his performances on the field. Uthappa recalled how he had a mediocre season for RCB and was able to do well in just one game for his side.

"I feel like I played during the best phase of RCB. It was a phase in IPL where the first year was a lot of fun because everyone was finding ground. I think from the second year onwards, it became really big.

So, I was along with Zaheer Khan and Manish Pandey. I was one of the first people to be transferred in IPL. For me, it became extremely difficult because my loyalties were completely laid out with MI at that point. It happened a month before the IPL and I refused to sign the transfer papers," he added.

Uthappa managed to score only 175 runs in 15 matches for RCB in IPL 2009 at an average strike rate of 102.94. However, he bounced back to form next season with 374 runs in the campaign. Uthappa enjoyed his best time at Kolkata Knight Riders under Gautam Gambhir.

He was part of the KKR squad which won the IPL title twice in 2012 and 2014. Uthappa moved to Chennai Super Kings last year and went on to win the title with the MS Dhoni-led side. He is currently part of the CSK squad under their new skipper Ravindra Jadeja and has done well so far in IPL 2022.

CSK will be missing Indian pacer Deepak Chahar and England all-rounder Moeen Ali for the game.

While Chahar is still recovering from his injury and is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks of action for CSK, Ali is yet to receive his visa for India and is currently stuck in London. Despite having applied for the visa a long time back, Ali is yet to receive approval and leave for India to join the rest of the CSK squad ahead of the new season.

If Ali manages to land in India today (March 23) only then will he be able to feature in the playing XI for CSK in their opening game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 26 (Saturday).&nbsp;All players are required to serve at least 3 days of isolation upon landing in their team hotel. Ali is thus likely to miss CSK's opener against Shreyas Iyer's men.

The Pakistani journalist was trolled by the Indian fans, who countered his claims and suggested he not be delusional. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star and veteran Indian batter Robin Uthappa also came up with a fitting reply for the Pakistani journalist to shut him down.

"No comparison between PSL and IPL! PSL started in 2016 while IPL inaugurated in 2008.
