<p>Escandon thanked Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the army, the navy, the national guard and others for their help in rescuing the kidnap victims.</p>

UK: Report condemns undercover policing tactics, calls for disbandment

<p>France braced itself for more violent protests on Wednesday as French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday said that the deadly shooting of a teen by the police during a traffic stop this week was "inexplicable" and "unforgivable".</p>

<p>"A teenager was killed. That is inexplicable and unforgivable. Nothing can justify the death of a young person," said Macron, during a visit to the Mediterranean city Marseille, stating that the case had "moved the entire nation" and expressing "respect and affection" for the grieving family members of the 17-year-old Nael.</p>

<p>The government stated that 2,000 riot police will be deployed by them to deal with any unrest. The step has been taken a day after a 17-year-old was shot in the chest by a police officer who was then seen lying about the circumstances of the killing.</p>

<p>Two policemen on Tuesday had pulled over the teenager, who was identified as Nael M., for breaking traffic rules, said prosecutors.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Initially, the police had reported that the teenager was shot by an officer after he tried to drive his car at him, however, the video of the incident shared on social media contradicted the claims.</p>

<h2><strong>Reality of the footage&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>In the footage, two policemen were seen standing at the side of a stationary car and one officer was seen pointing the gun at the driver. A person was heard as saying, "You are going to get a bullet in the head."</p>

<p>The officer has then seen firing point blank as the teenager's car drove off abruptly. The car drove a few dozen metres and then crashed and the driver died after some time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The suburb of Paris was hit by immediate protests after the death of the teenager. The protesters set fire to a music school and bins as tear gas was used by the police to disperse the crowd.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin on Wednesday said that the police arrested 31 people overnight, while 24 police officers suffered slight injuries and nearly 40 cars were torched.</p>

<p>"Fourteen people injured in the crash in the Hunter Valley wine region remain in hospital, with two in critical condition," informed the police. The victims have not been formally identified by the police but the Mayor of Singleton Sue Moore claimed that many lived in the small town.</p>

<p>"I know we'll never get over it," Sue Moore said while speaking to the BBC.</p>

<p>According to Joint Commissioner of Police Upendra Kumar Agarwal, a child also sustained injuries and was moved to a trauma centre.</p>

<p>"One prisoner who was brought for the hearing at the Court has been shot and a police officer was also shot. They have been sent to hospital," Nilabja Choudhary, Joint Commissioner of Police, Lucknow said pertaining to the gunfire incident at Lucknow civil court.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The chief of Samajwadi Party (SP) Akhilesh Yadav also spoke up targeting the ruling government in India's largest populated area. He took a jibe at the current law and order situation in the state raising questions on the recent firing incident in Lucknow civil court.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Bihar police exposed a liquor mafia on Monday, that was found to be operating in the graveyard located on the outskirts of Bihar's Sasaram town. The liquor mafia's illegal activities were busted after a group of people, who had visited the graveyard to attend a funeral, informed officials about spotting an open grave with some liquor pouches lying around it.</p>

<p>Police stated that they reached the graveyard where 25 litres of country-made liquor, kept in plastic bags, was recovered. The police officials added that there were at least 50 empty bags which were lying around the grave which indicated that large-scale storage, consumption and sale of liquor was taking place there.</p>

<p>Wine-making equipment and other items related to the business of liquor were also found by the police near the grave.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Alcohol has been banned in Bihar by law since 2016. Earlier, recovery of liquor from septic tanks, milk-tanker and coffins have been reported, as illegal traders choose&nbsp;various weird ways to carry out their business.</p>

<p>On Monday, the incident was reported from the graveyard which is close to the famous tomb of Alawal Khan and falls under the jurisdiction of Darigaon police station limits of Rohtas district.</p>

<h2><strong>Case registered, police trying to identify liquor mafia&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Darigaon station house officer (SHO) Santosh Kumar stated that a case has been registered under Section 30A of the Excise Act against unknown liquor traders and efforts are being made by the police to identify them.</p>

<p>On May 31, the police seized 1,182 litres of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) from a milk tanker which belonged to a reputed company at Purnia.</p>

<p>On March 27, 240 bottles of costly IMFL, which were hidden in a large coffin and were being carried in an ambulance in Gaya, were seized by the excise officials.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The liquor was being transported to Bihar from Jharkhand when the vehicle was raided by excise officials.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 11-year-old's mother Nakala Murry said her son questioned her "What did I do?" after he was shot by the police officer. The horrific shooting incident is now being investigated. Describing details of the incident, she said that the police officer asked everyone inside to exit the house.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She told the media outlet that the officer opened fire as soon as her son turned the corner of the hallway. The gunfire struck Aderrien in the chest, she said.</p>

<p>"His words were: 'Why did he shoot me? What did I do?' and he started crying," Ms Murry said. "This cannot keep happening. This is not OK." She also revealed how she acted like a first responder to tackle the situation. Her son was bleeding from the wound when she applied pressure on the wound.&nbsp;</p>

11-year-old Black boy shot in chest by Mississippi police he called for help

<p>Two parents were arrested by the police in Pennsylvania, United States&nbsp;after the authorities discovered seven children living in what they termed as “unsanitary” and “unsafe living conditions”, which included faeces on the floor of the home and caged rats.</p>

<p>The police reached the house after someone reported on April 23 about three children who were seen entering an abandoned trailer in West Rockhill Township, located 40 miles north of Philadelphia, as per a police affidavit filed on May 19.<br />

When the children were found by the police, they spoke to their parents and sent them back to their home which was next to the abandoned trailer.<br />

In the house, the police officers observed “deplorable living conditions” and found a refrigerator which was secured using a padlock.<br />

The mother, identified as Crystal Robertson, said to police that the refrigerator was locked because the children were “'stealing’ everything and referred to the children as ‘garbage disposals with legs',” as per the police affidavit. The police stated that the parents are facing felony charges.</p>

“There was also a bad odour… and several bugs,” read the affidavit. They also found “two dogs, two turtles, two rabbits, snakes, toads, and a four-foot reptile”, read the affidavit.</p>

<p>The police took the children into protective custody and sent them to a hospital for receiving medical treatment.<br />

Later, an investigation revealed none of the seven children had gone to school and were lacking basic knowledge, as per the police authorities. The children also exhibited social anxiety, stated the police.</p>

<p>The police department launched an investigation only in 2017 when a formal complaint was lodged. The Medical Council was notified but the investigation said that there was insufficient evidence to charge the person.</p>

<p>“We found that the criminal investigation of the doctor conducted by police in 2017 was of an acceptable standard. However, we also found police had failed to investigate any of the concerns raised between 2002 and 2014/15,” the authority said.</p>

<p>“In addition, we reached the view that while the criminal investigators offered appropriate support to recruits during the criminal investigation, the member of police executive who knew about the allegations failed adequately to support the recruits throughout the criminal investigation and Medical Council process.”</p>

New Zealand: Police didn't handle sexual harassment complaints against in-house doctor well, says watchdog

In Munich, prosecutors are investigating seven suspects aged between 22 and 38. There is suspicion that they were forming or supporting a criminal organisation, said police in a statement. <p>The suspects are believed to have been raising funds to finance further crimes on behalf of Last Generation. The police say that they have collected at least 1.4 million euros ($1.54 million) in donations.</p>

<p>It is suspected that two of the defendants sabotaged the Trieste-Ingolstadt oil pipeline. It is considered critical infrastructure and hence, is subject to special protection.</p>

<p>The searches took place in Hesse, Hamburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Bavaria, Berlin and Schleswig-Holstein. Two accounts were seized and an asset freeze was ordered.</p>

<p>Last Generation activists have been causing large-scale disruption across Germany in recent months through activities such as glueing themselves to roads and blocking rush-hour traffic. They have also flung mashed potatoes on paintings in museums and have blocked airport runways.</p>

<p>Such activities by the group in order to push the government to do more about climate change have divided public opinion in Germany.</p>

<p>At a press conference following the raids, the activists said they will not be bogged down.</p>

<p>Spokeswoman Aimee van Baalen admitted that she was terrified when she learnt about the raids targeting her friends.</p>

<p>"They frighten us, but we must not persist in this fear. The government is steering us into a climate hell with our eyes wide open," she said.</p>

<p>"We must continue our resistance," she said, calling a demonstration next Wednesday.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Courts take tougher actions</strong></h2>

<p>In recent weeks, dozens of climate activists from the group have been brought to court over their traffic blockade action. Most of them have been fined for disrupting traffic or obstructing police work. But some courts have begun taking tough action and have handed jail time as well.</p>

<p>German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his coalition partners, including the Greens, have expressed frustration.</p>

<p>Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck of the Greens has said the street blockades were "not a helpful contribution to climate protection" because they don't win consensus but they "irritate people".</p>

<p>Scenes of angry motorists shouting at the glued activists or dragging them off the streets have accompanied many of the street blockades.</p>

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele said the National Civil Police and the Attorney General's Office would conduct a "thorough investigation" into the turn of events that led to the stampede at the stadium.<br />

India: Assam's police force asks officers to lose weight or quit job

<p>An eight-year-old&nbsp;migrant&nbsp;girl&nbsp;died in US custody in Texas on Wednesday, a tragedy that tempered news of a sharp drop in attempted illegal crossings of the southern US border.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;girl&nbsp;died in Harlingen, a Texas border city near the Gulf of Mexico.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The child and her family were in custody at the Harlingen Station where she experienced a medical emergency," US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said in a statement.</p>

<p>"Emergency Medical Services were called to the station and transported her to the local hospital where she was pronounced dead," the statement said, adding that an investigation was opened into the death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The agency did not give the&nbsp;migrant&nbsp;girl's identity or nationality.</p>

<p>A 17-year-old Honduran boy who arrived in the US without a parent or guardian died last week in government custody in Safety Harbor, Florida.</p>

<p>Separately, new policies that came into effect last week to deal with undocumented migrants appear to have slashed US entries.</p>

<p>The Border Patrol counted less than 4,000 "encounters",&nbsp;apprehensions and expulsions -- with people crossing without permission each of the past two days, said Blas Nunez-Neto, assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.</p>

<p>That was combined with an expansion of formal avenues to migrate to the United States, focused especially on refugees and asylum applicants.</p>

<p>The 4,000 a day was also lower than the average of 7,000 encounters a day in April.</p>

<p>In addition, there were signs that the northward movement of migrants from South and Central America to the Mexico-US frontier has slowed, said Nunez-Neto.</p>

<p>"We are also seeing some early promising signs that entries into the Darien jungle between Colombia and Panama have been declining in recent days," he said, referring to a particularly treacherous section of the main route for migrants heading north.</p>

<p>Instead, "tens of thousands" have been applying for immigration interviews with US Customs and Border Protection, and over 5,000 have been "processed" in their appointments since May 12, Nunez-Neto said.</p>

<p>And many Haitians, Venezuelans and Cubans are taking advantage of a special program to migrate as refugees that requires them to apply from abroad, he added.</p>

<p>"I want to stress once again that it is still too soon to draw any firm conclusions here about where these trends will go in the coming days and weeks," said Nunez-Neto.</p>

<p>"We continue to monitor the situation on our border and in Mexico and along the transit routes in real-time," he said.</p>

<p>As per a few reports, these facilities are intimidating Chinese activists living abroad who speak out against the CCP led by Chinese President Xi Jinping.</p>

<p>It's important to note that the establishment of Chinese outposts is a complex geopolitical issue, often subject to territorial disputes, criticism, and concerns from other countries in the regions where they are located.</p>

<p>In Canada, the police in the month of March said they were investigating the centres&nbsp;in Montreal. This month, the Canadian press reported that these centres&nbsp;were operating normally. This is despite the fact that the statements by the minister that all of these 'secret' stations in Canada have been closed down. As far as China is concerned, the country has refuted all claims made in connection to these police outposts.&nbsp;</p>

US: One killed, four injured in shooting at medical facility in Atlanta, suspect arrested

<p>The police department in Uttar Pradesh is going hi-tech to keep a check on anti-social elements, smuggling, and the use of weapons by the mafia in the north Indian state.</p>

<p>The police has signed a contract with a robotic start-up based in the western city of Pune, according to which they will provide 84 specialised drones. The drones have the feature of thermal imaging and can provide day and night visuals so that the hidden arms and ammunition can be detected.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The drones will also assist the police department of Uttar Pradesh in controlling riots and improve their aerial surveillance capabilities. The contract has been bagged by Sagar Defence Engineering at less than 1 million rupees ($12,220.38) per drone.</p>

<p>"Just after 9 [p.m.] our officers started getting calls about a reckless driver traveling south on Sheridan Road one of our officers was at the right place and right time," said Joseph Noselik, Public Information Officer for the Kenosha Police Department, who spoke to CBS 58.</p>

<p>Noselik claimed that despite the police' best efforts, the 84-year-old driver refused to stop despite the sirens. At 73rd Street and Sheridan Road, the van came to a halt. &nbsp;According to Noselik, the driver was attempting to get home, which wasn't too far off.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"He just thought he could make it home and it was just a poor decision, and you know obviously his vehicle was leaking something. Those sparks ignited whatever was leaking out of the vehicle," said Noselik.</p>

<p>In order to ensure the safety of other motorists, Noselik claimed that the driver has been flagged for a DMV driving review.</p>

<p>"We certainly don't want to deprive anybody of something that's so important to them. However, when it becomes a risk to public safety and to that person's own safety we do have to get involved and send a notice to the DMV," added&nbsp;Noselik.&nbsp;</p>

The whole incident was caught live on camera, and its videos —&nbsp; some very chilling ones — spread like wildfire on social media.</p>

<p>During the cross-firing&nbsp;as the three assailants opened fire from different directions, Tiwari and a police constable Maan Singh suffered bullet injuries.</p>

<p>According to police, the three executed their plan by posing themselves as media persons, carrying a camera and mic. It ensured them easy access to Atiq and Ashraf while they were being escorted for medical examination.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After questioning Tewari, Sunny and Maurya, police said that the three assailants claimed that they&nbsp;decided to execute the murder brazenly&nbsp;in public to get fame and wanted to leave their mark in the world of crime.</p>

<p>The names of at least two of them already figure in the crime records of police stations in the state of Uttar Pradesh.</p>

<p>Sunny, too, is a criminal known for indulging in petty thefts and assault. A neighbour in Hamirpur said Mohit had left his home more than 10 years ago. There are&nbsp;17 criminal cases registered against him in the district.</p>

<p>“He was a resident of Kurara, and was normal when he was young. He went to jail after a brawl, after which his mentality changed and he entered the world of crime. After a few incidents, he left Kurara. He was in Hamirpur jail for about a year," he said.</p>

<p>Neighbours of Arun Maurya in Kasganj are in complete disbelief. His parents died when he was young, and his brother is into scrap business in the national capital Delhi.</p>

<p>None of the villagers knows what Maurya did and where he lived. He too appeared to have left the village about a decade ago and never returned.</p>

<p>Police have charged the three men for murder and attempt to murder, as well as under the Arms Act. At least two firearms were recovered from the site of the shooting.<br />

However, police sources said that the three had used highly sophisticated, semi-automatic Zigana pistols produced by Turkish firearm manufacturing company TISAS. The said pistols are illegal and banned in India. Since the price of these pistols is around Rs 6 to 7 lakh ($8,553), it is not yet known how they managed to procure them and leads to the suspicion that someone else was behind the killings.</p>

Atiq Ahmed’s killers: Drug addict, petty criminals pull off daring murder in front of TV camera crews

<p>New Mexico Police on Friday released bodycam footage of a tragic incident when police, in response to a domestic violence call, turned up at the wrong address and shot dead a 52-year-old homeowner Robert Dotson. Farmington Police Department released the video a week after the incident that took place on April 5 during night hours.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the footage, police officers are seen entering the wrong house from the front door.&nbsp;The cops can be heard knocking while asking a dispatcher to confirm the location and instruct the caller to come to the door.&nbsp;Soon after, the homeowner, who was carrying a gun, opened the door. The police then opened fire, firing numerous shots as they moved away. The man is seen falling to the floor.</p>

<p>About a minute after, his wife can be heard screaming.&nbsp;Authorities have said the man's wife returned fire from the doorway, not knowing who was outside, prompting the officers to fire again. She was not injured but could be heard screaming and crying after the second volley of shots was fired.</p>

<p>Dispatchers received a frantic 911 call from the man's daughter. She said she heard gunshots and that her dad needed help.&nbsp;"There were gunshots in the house and my dad is dead," she tells 911 dispatchers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At the time of the shooting, she and two other children were inside the house.&nbsp;The homeowner's wife can be heard begging to the officers. "Help! Somebody shot my husband. Please! Please! My kids are upstairs," she said.</p>

<p>The department said the video also was reviewed by the Dotson family and their attorney before it was publicly released. "All of us — the men and women of the Farmington Police Department — recognize the severity of this incident. We will do everything possible to more fully understand what transpired here," Hebbe said.</p>

Section 144 prohibits the assembly of four or more people in an area.</p>

<p>Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had on late Saturday night announced the formation of a three-member judicial panel to probe the Saturday night's incident even as questions are being raised over the alleged security lapse of the police.</p>

<p>“Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the Prayagraj incident. He immediately convened a high-level meeting and issued instructions that the case be probed. The chief minister also issued instructions that a three-member judicial commission be set up. All three attackers have been arrested. The police are conducting an inquiry,” the government said in a press release.</p>

<p>Police said that the assailants posed as media persons to evade checking and get close to Atiq and Ashraf&nbsp;and shot them at point-blank range.</p>

<p>"In accordance with a mandatory legal requirement, Atiq Ahmad and Ashraf were brought to the hospital for a medical examination," Commissioner of Police, Prayagraj, Ramit Sharma, said while briefing the reporters.</p>

<p>“According to preliminary information, three men posing as journalists approached them and opened fire. Ahmad and Ashraf were killed on the spot. The attackers have been held and are being questioned," Sharma said.</p>

<h2><strong>Assailants to be presented before magistrate</strong></h2>

<p>ANI news agency reported that the three assailants will be presented before the magistrate on Sunday.</p>

<p>They were kept in the custody of the police and questioned. As per the law, any criminal caught in this manner has to be presented before the remand magistrate within 24 hours.</p>

<p>The three killers have been identified as Lovlesh Tiwari, Sunny Singh, and Arun Maurya. All belong to different parts of Uttar Pradesh.</p>
