<p>Although state and local law enforcement agencies eventually regained control of the detention centre, a number of the juvenile offenders successfully fled the scene. Authorities have indicated that the escapees took advantage of the chaos by overpowering two female guards and absconding with their keys.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Swift arrest&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>All nine escapees, aged between 15 and 17, were nabbed within approximately two hours on Monday (September 18) morning.</p>

<p>David Beohm, a public information officer with the Pennsylvania State Police, said that four of the escapees were exhausted and "basically gave up" at 5:45 am, at a random residence on Oak Grove Road in Morgantown, Pennsylvania.</p>

<p>The homeowner promptly alerted the authorities.</p>

British police charge recaptured terrorism suspect with unlawful escape

<p>Head of the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command Commander Dominic Murphy said that so far the officers have not received any confirmed sightings of prisoner Daniel Khalife since he escaped from London's Wandsworth prison on Wednesday (September 6).<br />

Explaining the details of the van's route before the police stopped it and in which Khalife was suspected of being strapped underneath after leaving the prison, Murphy stated that more than 50 calls were made to the force from the public which provided “some really valuable lines of inquiry”.<br />

“This was a really busy area of London and we’ve had no confirmed sightings in any of that information, which is a little unusual and perhaps a testament to Daniel Khalife‘s ingenuity in his escape and some of his movements after his escape,” Murphy said while speaking to the reporters.</p>

No confirmed sightings of escaped prisoner Daniel Khalife: Police

<p>A man was arrested in Rwanda after 10 dead bodies were discovered by the police in a hole in his home's kitchen in the capital city of Kigali, stated media reports on Wednesday (September 6).</p>

<p>Police stated that victims were lured by the 34-year-old suspected serial killer from bars to his rented home in a Kigali suburb. As per local media, more than 10 bodies were discovered and an official of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) said that so far the number of victims was 14.</p>

<p>However, the figure was not confirmed by RIB spokesman Thierry Murangira, who stated that "the final number will be determined by forensic investigations".</p>

Rwanda: Police arrest man after discovery of 10 bodies in a hole dug in the kitchen

<p>Eighteen people were killed by police officials in a shootout in the northeast region of South Africa on Friday (September 1), after they were claimed to be suspected robbers who were planning to steal a cash truck.</p>

<p>"As soon as police approached the address, the group of suspects began shooting, and police retaliated," said the South African Police Service (SAPS) in a statement. "Sixteen males and two females were declared dead at the scene,” it added.</p>

<p>Speaking to reporters in Makhado, Limpopo province which is 400 kilometres (250 miles) northeast of Johannesburg, SAPS National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola said that a police officer was "injured very seriously" and admitted for medical care. The shootout continued for around 90 minutes, stated Masemola.</p>

"We do believe this syndicate has been involved in a number of CIT heists in this province, Mpumalanga and Gauteng," Masemola stated.</p>

<p>As per the police, who were tracking the movements of the suspected robbers for a few days, the investigation started in January with the aid of the intelligence unit of the country.</p>

<p>"Our intention was to arrest them before they go out and commit another crime," Masemola stated.</p>

<h2><strong>Cash truck heists in South Africa</strong></h2>

<p>Cash truck heists have been taking place regularly in the crime-ridden southern African country.</p>

<p>Last year, police killed 10 suspects in a cash-in-transit shootout with police after the police helicopter was allegedly open-fired by alleged robbers and one of the pilots was injured.</p>

<p>In May, police minister Bheki Cele stated that there was a "stubborn increase" in cash-in-transit robberies by more than 20 per cent, as 64 cases were reported in the first three months of the year.</p>

<h2><strong>What is the investigation about?&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>In a statement, the UK Home Office said that Braverman has commissioned Britain’s law enforcement watchdog to conduct a review into political “activism and impartiality” within the police and “explore impacts of police taking part in political matters”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In a letter to the policing leaders, the UK home secretary has also said that the police should be focused on tackling crime, rather than being involved in political matters and that she will work with them to ensure that their forces’ time is spent on public’s priorities.</p>

<p>The home secretary has ordered a probe to look at whether operational policing in England and Wales is being influenced, said the UK Home Office. The policing model in England and Wales ensures that the police should, at all times, adopt a position of political neutrality, it added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Braverman has commissioned His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire &amp; Rescue Services (HMICFRS) to undertake the review and asked for the report findings by March 2024, said the home office, in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The HMICFRS review has also been asked to cover the “quality and neutrality” of police training and communications with the public on issues, including social media.</p>

<h2><strong>‘Political activism’ of UK police</strong></h2>

<p>Braverman has cited officers’ engagement in “contentious issues,” including policing gender-critical views on social media, their conduct at political marches and some taking a knee in public, which she says has “damaged” public confidence.&nbsp;<br />

“The British people expect their police to focus on cutting crime and protecting communities – political activism does not keep people safe, solve crimes or support victims, but can damage public confidence,” said Braverman, in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Police Federation’s Deputy Chair Tiffany Lynch said that policing is “too important to be kicked around like a political football,” adding that while their members want to go out there and serve communities in the best way possible, it would require help if the government “constantly changes the goal posts,” as quoted by the BBC.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She added, “One minute they want police officers to be more involved, the next, they want them to act like robots.”</p>

<p>"It wouldn't go far without being noticed for sure," said Reiman.</p>

<p>The video of interaction between the police officials and the driver with the bull 'overseeing' what's happening gained traction online.</p>

<p>Reiman said that Meyer told him personally that he had transported Howdy Doody in a suitably big trailer when he was going for a parade previously.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Wednesday (August 30) however, why Meyer chose to stuff Howdy Doody in his car and make 36-mile journey from Neligh to Norfolk hasn't been specified.</p>

<p>When he was stopped in Norfolk however, he was not going for any parade, said the police.</p>

<p>Sky News contacted Meyer's wife to ask her more about the bull. She said the bull was part of the family but she wasn't happy about her husband spending huge amount of money on the bull than&nbsp;he already was spending.</p>

<p>"The amount of money that he's spent on this whole darn project between the car and the bull I could've had a brand new kitchen," Mrs Meyer said as quoted by Sky News.</p>

One of the eyewitnesses from Fresno city in California, Kathryn Borrud, found herself amidst the turmoil as the groups of teenagers began dispersing.</p>

<p>While describing the situation she said, "There were just these throngs of kids -- I want to say 300, 400 kids."&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Things were fine. It was just a little strange, and then all of a sudden, they started running towards us. We thought there was like gunfire or a knife or something happened," she reportedly added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Amidst the chaos, both Borrud and her son were knocked over by what she felt was a stampede of teenagers.</p>

<p>Emeryville police quickly responded to the turmoil. One juvenile was arrested in connection with the incidents.</p>

<p>Witness, Brenda Valladares, questioned the circumstances surrounding the unsupervised gathering. "My thing is just what were 400 kids doing?"</p>

<p>"They said it was over 400 kids. What were they doing here unsupervised without their parents? And it's scary, because she sometimes wants to go to the movies, and I'm like, 'I don't think you're not at that age to go by yourself,"&nbsp;said Valladares.</p>

It was just a little strange, and then all of a sudden, they started running towards us. We thought there was like gunfire or a knife or something happened," she reportedly added. Amidst the chaos, both Borrud and her son were knocked over by what she felt was a stampede of teenagers. The victims were scammed after being tricked into buying discounted&nbsp;hotel and travel packages as well as theme park tickets for the summer holidays.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police said the modus-operandi followed by the scammers included posing as sellers and offering obviously fake services to unsuspecting victims. In order to win the trust of victims, the scammers upon selling the travel or hotel packages, also offered&nbsp;cheap items such as theme park tickets, concert passes, handbags as well as electronic products.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Scammers, posing as sellers, attract buyers with limited offers, sales, overseas purchasing services.&nbsp;They ask buyers to transfer money into designated accounts and refuse to trade face-to-face. Upon receiving the money, the ‘sellers’ will vanish into thin air," the police was quoted as saying by the publication.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Eighty-two of the 237 reports were related to the purchase of travel or hotel packages,” the police added.&nbsp;</p>

The body camera video shows the critter running up to the two officers with a jar on its head. McDermott removed the container from his head as Waecheter helped to hold him down. While calming the raccoon, the officers said, "We're going to help you, buddy. Hold on. It's okay, boy. okay."</p>

<p>The raccoon then scampered away from the cops after being released.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Facebook post by the Perkins Township PD said, "Protect and Serve took on a little different meaning while Officers McDermott and Waechter were getting gas last night." The police department has dubbed the raccoon a 'bandit.' <p>In July, the Painesville Police Department responded to a report of a 'masked bandit with a mayo jar stuck on its head.' It turned out that the masked bandit was a raccoon who was strolling on the street near East Walnut Avenue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The officers' conspiracy began to unravel when one of them confessed to lying, prompting confessions from the other officers. It wasn't until June that the charges against the victims were dropped, following the involvement of both federal and state investigators.</p>

Viral Sikh man, who defended California store from robber, now under investigation for assault

<p>A well-known church pastor in Connecticut died after he was fatally struck by a police cruiser driven by a police officer who was on a call.</p>

<p>The incident happened on Wednesday (July 26) around 4 pm (local time).</p>

<p>According to the cops, 24-year-old Stamford Police Officer Zachary Lockwood was driving a police sport utility vehicle when he hit 69-year-old Tommie Jackson, who was getting his mail.</p>

<p>When Lockwood saw Jackson, the officer “made an evasive steering manoeuvre” before impact, Connecticut State Police said in a statement, adding that they have begun their investigation.</p>

<h2><strong>Pastor died in hospital</strong></h2>

<p>Immediately after the impact, Lockwood jumped out of the car and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Jackson until medical personnel arrived. Jackson died at Stamford Hospital.</p>

<p>Lockwood has been sent on administrative leave. He has been with the department since April 2022, police said.</p>

<p>“Rev. Jackson was a friend and adviser to many of us at the Police Department and we are profoundly saddened,” Stamford Assistant Chief Silas Redd said in the statement.</p>

<p>“Pastor Tommie Jackson was such a beacon of light for so many in the Stamford community, for past 25 plus years."</p>

<p>"His steadfast commitment to serve those under the guidance of his pastorate, extended far and wide," Redd said.</p>

<p>"The void that has been left by his untimely passing will be difficult to fill; only the passage of time will bring comfort and healing. He warned the girl that if she does not have sex with him, he would release her photos. Stuck in the situation, the girl approached the police. However, little did she know that she will be again pushed into a situation to face her assaulter.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Sting operation&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>In order to catch the man, the police asked the girl to carry out a sting operation. Instead of taking care of the safety of the girl, she was put on task to help the cops nab the man.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The undercover operation was carried out in the north-western city of Taoyuan in November 2020. After police asked the girl for being part of the plan, the teenager agreed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The girl failed to follow the instructions given by the police officers by entering into Chang's car "suddenly".&nbsp;Later, the man drove the car just about 300m away. At this point, he forced her to perform oral sex.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The girl did what was told to her as she was fearful of the consequences if she did not concede to the man's demands.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The two officers now face negligence charges. They have also issued an apology for their failure to give proper protection to the minor.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During the trial, the minor told Taoyuan District Court about what had happened during the sting operation. The court convicted Chang of sexual assault and he was sentenced to prison for eight years.</p>

<h2><strong>Officers investigated&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>The two officers from Zhongli precinct are now facing investigation for neglect of duty as public officials. Taoyuan-based lawyer Fan Kang-hsiang told media portal Focus Taiwan that the island nation has no law which approves police to recruit minors for undercover investigations.</p>

Two Taiwan policemen face probe for involving minor girl in sting operation, resulting in sexual assault

<p>Hong Kong's national security police have questioned Derek and Mimi Yuen, the son and eldest daughter of self-exiled activist Elmer Yuen, a 74-year-old US-based businessman accused of urging foreign countries to impose sanctions on Hong Kong officials and members of the Judiciary between July 2020 and May 2023 on various online platforms, media reports said on Monday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This comes after the national security police on July 3 issued arrest warrants for eight overseas activists, including Elmer Yuen, for plotting to undermine Hong Kong's status as a financial centre. The wanted individuals are now based in Australia, the US, and the UK, and a reward of HK$1 million is on offer for each of them.</p>

<p>Elmer Yuen's daughter Mimi Yuen reportedly flew from Los Angeles to Hong Kong when she was taken into custody on Monday morning from somewhere in Hong Kong. The police took her into custody for interrogation at around 10 am.&nbsp;</p>

Hong Kong's national security police have questioned Derek and Mimi Yuen, the son and eldest daughter of self-exiled activist Elmer Yuen, a 74-year-old US-based businessman accused of urging foreign countries to impose sanctions on Hong Kong officials and members of the Judiciary between July 2020 and May 2023 on various online platforms, media reports said on Monday.

This comes after the national security police on July 3 issued arrest warrants for eight overseas activists, including Elmer Yuen, for plotting to undermine Hong Kong's status as a financial centre. The wanted individuals are now based in Australia, the US, and the UK, and a reward of HK$1 million is on offer for each of them. Elmer Yuen's daughter Mimi Yuen reportedly flew from Los Angeles to Hong Kong when she was taken into custody on Monday morning from somewhere in Hong Kong. The police took her into custody for interrogation at around 10 am. <p>The police commander of Tel Aviv on Wednesday claimed that he was resigning from the force because of the political intervention of hard-right cabinet members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who he claimed wished to use excessive force against anti-government protesters.</p>

<p>Tel Aviv District Commander Ami Eshed did not take the name of far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who had called for tough action against protesters blocking highways and roads in unprecedented demonstrations against the contentious push of the government to overhaul the judicial system.</p>

<p>Soon after the announcement was made by Eshed, hundreds of protesters marched through Tel Aviv, carrying Israeli flags and chanting "democracy". A main highway was blocked by some protesters, as some lit fires and faced off with police on horseback.&nbsp;</p>

"For the first time in three decades of service I encountered an absurd reality in which ensuring calm and order was not what was required of me but precisely the opposite," he added.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Slim chances of becoming police chief</strong></h2>

<p>Ben-Gvir, who had informed Eshed in March that he will be given a new role on the force, a step which was seen as decreasing his chances of becoming a police chief, in a televised statement said that a dangerous line was crossed by Eshed.</p>

<p>"Politics has seeped into the most senior ranks in Israel and a uniformed officer has caved to senior politicians on the left," he stated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ben-Gvir, who is a hardliner with past convictions for support for incitement and terrorism, had appealed for greater authority over the police force when he had to serve as its overseeing minister which raised concerns about police independence.&nbsp;</p>
