Djokovic calls Musetti retiring 'unfortunate'
Djokovic may have gotten the win but he didn't like way it happened, probably because he had suffered the same fate quite a few times in his career. He empathised with Musetti and said: "These kind of things happen in sport, and it happened to me a few times. 5 records Novak Djokovic can break at 2026 Australian Open

Novak Djokovic walked into the Australian Open 2026 with the same calm confidence that has defined most of his career. At 38, when questions about retirement follow him everywhere, the Serbian legend made one thing clear. He is not here for a farewell tour. One more major victory would take him past Margaret Court and give him the record of 25 Grand Slam titles. For him, achievements matter, but passion matters even more. Djokovic was honest in admitting that Sinner and Alcaraz are currently playing at a level above most of the field. But he also reminded everyone of what he is capable of when fully fit. He pointed to his win over Alcaraz in the quarter-finals last year as proof that he can still beat the best on his day. “When I am healthy and everything comes together, I feel I can beat anyone,” Djokovic said. Novak Djokovic has inspired numerous young tennis players during his 20-year-long ongoing career and now he's becoming guide to golfers as well. Irish golfer Rory McIlroy, who is set to visit the United States later this month with his team for Ryder Cup, wants the players to handle crowd like Djokovic. I think the less we play into it, the better it is for us." Also Watch - VIDEO: Pro-Palestine protest at finish line ends Vuelta Stage 11 without winner
Djokovic did lose his cool during QF match vs Fritz at US Open
The 38-year-old Serbian, however, wasn't all about calmness during his Last Eight match against Fritz as he did argue with the chair umpire about the crowd getting too loud.
