The US agency also reported a series of shallow quakes in the Izu islands. The strongest one, a 5.4 magnitude tremor, was recorded at 5:17 am (2117 GMT Sunday) around 551 kilometres south of Shimoda.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, 280 kilometres (170 miles) south of Tokyo, Hachijojima island was hit by tsunami waves of height 60 centimetres (24 inches). Smaller tsunami waves of 40cm and 20 cm were recorded in the western Kochi prefecture and southern Miyazaki prefecture, respectively.

Seismologists from JMA, as per an AFP report, said there were no immediate reports of damage from the minor waves generated.

However, despite that, Tateyama city of Chiba, located near Tokyo, had urged residents in coastal areas to evacuate after the advisory.

During a press conference, JMA official Toshihiro Shimoyama warned that "it is dangerous in the sea and near the coast".

"Please get out of the sea and stay away from the coast," said Shimoyama adding that the&nbsp;JMA "haven't been able to pinpoint the cause" although it assumed that an&nbsp;earthquake had generated the tsunami waves.

Previously, just last week, following a magnitude 6.5 quake, Japan had observed a one-metre tsunami near the Izu islands.

"Last week we announced our ambitions to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, and this official submission continues our journey to make the dreams of our people a reality," Yasser Al Misehal, president of the SAFF said in a statement.&nbsp;

"We are extremely committed to presenting the most competitive bid possible that will also help unite the world through football," he added.

Last week, reports also claimed that the kingdom hosting the quadrennial event was basically a 'done deal'.&nbsp;

"A Saudi World Cup in 2034 isn't just likely, it's basically a done deal. Money has talked again, and the event will be worth billions in new cash for FIFA," a source close to the matter told DailyMail.&nbsp;

<h2>What did FIFA announce?&nbsp;</h2>

On Thursday (Oct 5), FIFA announced&nbsp;it had reached an agreement to host the 2030 World Cup across three continents viz, South America, Africa and Europe.

While Morocco, Portugal and Spain will be the joint hosts for the marquee event, games will also be played in&nbsp;Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. As a result, all six nations will automatically qualify for the World Cup.&nbsp;

"In 2030, the FIFA World Cup will unite three continents and six countries, inviting the entire world to join in the celebration of the beautiful game, the Centenary and the FIFA World Cup itself," FIFA said in a statement.&nbsp;

FIFA said the World Cup matches were being held in South America as part of the centenary celebration of the first World Cup held in Uruguay.

As per Reuters, PM Albanese's centre-left Labor government backs the referendum. However, the opposition Liberal-National conservatives are gearing for a "No" vote on October 14.&nbsp;

An opinion poll from last week found that nationally, only 38 per cent were in favour.

However, Albanese says he is hopeful. Talking to ABC, he said "I'm optimistic."&nbsp;

"Whether it be Shepperton or Sydney or Brisbane, Melbourne, the places I've been, Hobart, Adelaide in the last week, have been extremely positive."

AFP reports that Noel Pearson, an Indigenous lawyer and land rights activist, one of the architects of the "Voice" proposal, said that Australians now face a "moral choice".

He said that "One choice will bring us pride and hope and belief in one another and the other will, I think, turn us backwards and bring shame to the country," he told Australian broadcaster ABC.

"'Yes' is a moral choice and 'no' would be a travesty for the country, and we will possibly never live it down."

Jennifer Zeng, as per reports, claims that agents of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) were involved in the Canada killing and that China's "purpose was to frame India creating discord between India and the West".

Zeng as per ANI, also alleged that the killing was part of the CCP's sinister "Ignition Plan" to disrupt the world. This strategy reportedly is in line with Chinese Premier Xi Jinping's military strategy regarding Taiwan.

Dubbing the killing an assassination, the US-based journalist, rights activist, in a video posted on social media platform X, said, "Today shocking revelations about the 'assassination' of Sikh religious leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Canada have emerged from within the CCP. It is alleged that the 'assassination' was carried out by CCP agents."

Zeng attributed the information to the Chinese writer and YouTuber Lao Deng, who she said lives in Canada now.

"Lao stated that in early June this year, as part of their disruption initiative 'Ignition Plan', the CCP Ministry of State Security sent a high-ranking official to Seattle, USA. A secret meeting was held there... The objective was to sabotage relations between India and the West," she claimed on X.

"The agents were tasked with assassinating Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the Sikh leader in Canada. Following the meeting, the CCP agents meticulously executed the killing plan," she added.

As per Zeng, on June 18, CCP agents "armed with silenced guns tracked Nijjar."

She alleged that once "the deed was done," the assassins "destroyed the dash camera in Nijjar's car to erase any evidence. After the crime, the agents fled, they burned their weapons and disguises to destroy all traces. The next day, they left Canada in airplanes."

<h2>Framing India</h2>

Zeng alleged that as part of Beijing's scheme to frame India, the CCP agents learned Indian-accent English.&nbsp;

"They purposely spoke in Indian accent English... In fact, these actions were part of the scheme by CCP secret agent to frame India."

The journalist said that Lao had revealed that this 'ignition plan' was devised this year after the CCP's "two sessions"&nbsp;held in March of this year.

China, as per the ANI report, is yet to respond to Jennifer Zeng's allegations.&nbsp;

<h2>The Nijjar killing and Canada-India ties</h2>

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canada-based pro-Khalistan leader, was killed on Canadian soil on 18 June 2023. Nijjar, a designated terrorist in India, was shot and killed in the parking lot of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia.

Following the killing, relations between India and Canada have soured significantly, with the Canadian government expelling a senior Indian diplomat and accusing New Delhi of playing a role in the killing.

India was quick to outrightly reject the claims, calling them 'absurd' and 'motivated'. The nation then retaliated by expelling a senior Canadian diplomat.
