<p>India and Kuwait are set to firm up ties with the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a first by an Indian prime minister to the West Asian country in 43 years. The last visit to Kuwait was by the then Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi in 1981.</p></p>

Putin praises Jaishankar’s ‘BRICS isn’t anti-Western’ stance; calls Modi a ‘warm ally’

<p>Indian National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held the 23rd meeting of the Special Representatives of India and China in Beijing. The talks were held for the first time in five years after tensions soared between the two nations. </p></p>
<p>Both leaders met according to the decision taken during the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan for them to meet at an early date to oversee the management of peace and  tranquillity in border areas and to explore a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable solution to the boundary question.</p>
<p>Doval and Wang Yi stressed the importance of maintaining a political perspective of the overall bilateral relationship and seeking a fair and mutually acceptable framework for the settlement of the boundary question. </p>

<p>Moreover, based on the events of 2020, both representatives also discussed various measures to maintain peace on the border and advance effective management. </p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday held extensive talks with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, focusing on further shoring up India-Sri Lankan cooperation in a range of areas, including defence, trade and investment.</p>

Additionally, the year 2026 will be celebrated as the “India-Spain Year of Culture, Tourism, and AI.”</p>

<p>At a press briefing, Tanmaya Lal, Secretary (West) in India’s external affairs ministry, described Spain as a valued partner within the EU. Spain, the EU's fifth-largest economy, has a bilateral trade volume with India nearing $10 billion. Spain’s investments in India amount to $4 billion, while Indian investments in Spain have reached $1 billion.</p>

<p>Tourism between the two countries has seen growth, with 250,000 Indians visiting Spain annually and 40,000 Spanish tourists coming to India. India opened a new consulate in Barcelona in August, and Spain is set to launch a mission in Bengaluru soon. India and Spain are also supportive of a swift and impactful free trade agreement between India and the EU, according to Lal.</p>

<p>During his recent episode of Mann Ki Baat, the PM mentioned that no official will investigate and ask for money or a fine over call. He also informed people that there is no such punishment as ‘Digital Arrest’ under the Indian legal system.&nbsp;</p>

Whenever you receive such a call, don’t be scared. You should be aware that no investigative agency ever inquires like this through a phone call or a video call,” PM Modi said.</p>

<p>During the episode, PM Modi also said that agencies have blocked thousands of video-call IDs, over lakh SIM cards, mobile phones, and bank accounts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Reservation for SC, ST, and OBC categories is being openly snatched away by recruiting through lateral entry on important posts in various ministries of the central government," he wrote in Hindi on X.</p>

<p>He added, "I have always said that there is no representation of the underprivileged in the top bureaucracy and other senior positions in the country. Instead of improving this representation, lateral entry is pushing them further away from these top positions."</p>

<p>"This is a direct assault on the rights of talented youth preparing for the UPSC and a blow to the concept of social justice and reservation for the underprivileged," he said.</p>

By making Narendra Modi the PM for the third time, people have shown that the country will move forward only under his leadership. Similarly, under PM Modi and Nitish Kumar's leadership, Bihar will continue to move forward."</p>

<p>National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee Birla was elected as the Lok Sabha speaker after a motion moved by PM Modi was adopted through voice votes.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pro-tem Speaker B Mahtab made the announcement after the opposition, which had proposed Congress MP Suresh as its candidate, did not press for votes to the motion.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I announce Om Birla elected as the speaker," Mahtab said.&nbsp;</p>
