Pahalgam Terror Attack LIVE: Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) for the 12th consecutive night, drawing a measured response from the Indian Army. In a statement, the Indian Army said Pakistan violated ceasefire on the intervening night of May 5-6 in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir (J&amp;K).

A terror attack on April 22 in Baisaran Valley of Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam district killed 26 tourists. An offshoot of the banned Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) - The Resistance Front (TRF) - claimed responsibility for the attack. However, they retracted their statement on April 26, claiming that its social media was compromised. However, the Indian government launched a massive crackdown against the terrorists and released sketches of three terrorists who were responsible for the attack. As per J&amp;K Police, two terrorists involved in the attack were Pakistani nationals and the third, was a resident of Anantnag in Kashmir. His home along with the homes of several other terrorists, have been demolished.
<h2>Fallout of India-Pakistan ties</h2>
On the diplomatic front, the Indian government halted the Indus Waters Treaty, expelled its diplomats, called back Indian officials from Islamabad, closed the Attari border, its airspace for Pakistani flights and ships, parcels and imports from Pakistan. New Delhi has also blocked the Instagram accounts of several Pakistani cricketers and celebrities. India is also planning to block Pakistani IP (websites).&nbsp;Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I say to the whole world. India will identify, track and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth." World leaders have urged both the countries to exercise restraint but has also sided with India in its fight against terror.

PM Narendra Modi is set to attend the sixth edition of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
On Friday (Apr 4), he will engage with regional leaders to discuss key areas of cooperation.&nbsp;

In a statement, he detailed his official engagements in Thailand and said, "During my visit, I will have the opportunity to engage with Prime Minister Shinawatra and the Thai leadership, with a common desire to elevate our age-old historical ties, which are based on the strong foundations of shared culture, philosophy, and spiritual thought."
The Indian PM will also engage and interact with the Indian diaspora, underscoring the deep cultural and economic ties between India and Thailand.
<h2>Modi on Bimstec</h2>
Before his departure, Modi in a statement said: "Over the past decade, BIMSTEC has emerged as a significant forum for promoting regional development, connectivity, and economic progress in the Bay of Bengal region. With its geographical location, India's North-Eastern region lies at the heart of BIMSTEC".
Expressing his enthusiasm to be a part of the BIMSTEC summit and engaging with the forum's leader, he said: "I look forward to meeting the leaders of the BIMSTEC countries and engaging productively to further strengthen our collaboration with the interests of our people in mind."
Following Thailand, Modi will travel to Sri Lanka as part of his two-nation tour.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the guest of honour at Mauritius national day next month, Mauritius Prime Minister Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam has announced. Mauritius celebrates its national day on 12 March and it was on this day in 1968 that country gained its independence from the British. It was also on this day in 1992 that it became a republic.&nbsp;
 In a statement in the Parliament, PM Ramgoolam said, "In the context of the celebrations of the 57th anniversary of the Independence of our country, I have great pleasure to inform the House, that following my invitation, His Excellency, Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, has kindly agreed to be the Guest of Honour for our National Day celebrations".&nbsp;
 Amid the thunderous applause, he highlighted that it is "indeed a singular privilege for our country, to host such a distinguished personality who is doing us this honour, inspite of his very tight schedule and inspite of his recent visits to Paris and the United States. He has agreed to be here as our special guest" and the upcoming visit is a "testimony of the close relations between our two nations".
 Both countries share strong ties, including India's assistance to development projects. India has provided over USD 1 billion in credit lines and USD 400 million in grants over the past decade, funding infrastructure like the Metro Express and community projects.&nbsp;
 Speaking to WION in Muscat, earlier this week, foreign minister of Mauritius Dhananjay Ramful said, "There are various projects where India has been helping us through grants or loans. You have the metro project that has been implemented over several years. We are also about to inaugurate the civil service college, which, again, was financed by the Indian government. So in various sectors be it health, education, culture. India has always been at the forefront to try and help Mauritius".&nbsp;

 With the Trump administration coming into the White House, things could change on the deal, with the US say being taken on the issue. Asked if Trump could revisit the deal, FM said, "Now we also consider that it is important that the US, the new administration especially, has a new look at the deal since the US has an interest in the base on Diego Garcia, so we are waiting now for the US to look at the deal, and for the UK to eventually come to us and finalize the deal."

PM Modi thanked the voters saying that Delhi has given us love wholeheartedly and "I once again assure the people that will return you double the love in the form of development."&nbsp;
He further said that the people of Delhi have never disappointed him in the Lok Sabha polls. "In 2014, 2019, and 2024, they ensured BJP&rsquo;s victory in all seven seats," he added.&nbsp;
PM Modi stressed that this mandate reflects the people's trust in "Modi's guarantee".&nbsp;

PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron will attend the CEO business forum and also travel to Marseille for the inauguration of the Indian consulate in the Mediterranean city in the south of France.

France has appointed G&eacute;rard Mestrallet as its Special Envoy for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), who visited India in November of last year to hold discussions. In fact, France is the only country so far to announce a special envoy for the mega economic connectivity project. &nbsp;

Attacking the Congress party over &ldquo;dynasty politics&rdquo;, the Prime Minister said that the entire party is dedicated to just one family thus, the motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' will not work for them.
&ldquo;A lot has been said about 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' here. I don't understand why people are fretting over this. It is a shared responsibility of everyone and the people of India have chosen us for exactly this. However, to expect Congress to understand this slogan and how it works would be a major mistake. The entire party is dedicated to just one family, and thus, for it to work with the motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' is impossible,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;Congress prepared such a model of politics in which there was a blend of lies, fraud, corruption, nepotism and appeasement. Where there is a blend of all these things, there can be no 'Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas'. The supreme in Congress' model is 'family first', and that is why their policies, their tone have been involved in managing that,&rdquo; the Prime Minister added.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has submitted a Letter of Intent to the Future Host Commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), formally expressing India's interest in hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036.
"We are pushing for hosting rights of 2036 Olympics, it will take Indian sports to new heights," PM Modi said.
"Wherever Olympics happen, all sectors gain. It creates better facilities for athletes," he added.
Modi announced India's intention to host the 2036 Games during the 2023 International Olympic Committee Session. The IOA has filed an official expression of interest with the IOC.
"It is our endeavour to enhance your capabilities, and we are focussed on supporting you. We consider sports an essential aspect in the development of country," Modi said, while addressing the gathered athletes at the ceremony.
"It is a beautiful portrait of 'Ek Bharat, Sreshth Bharat'," Modi said, referring to the Games.
