Meghan Markle has always shared kind words for the late Queen Elizabeth II. Last month, Markle joined his husband, Prince Harry, and other royal members as they mourned the death of their beloved Queen. The last monarch passed away on September 8 at the age of 96.

Now, over a month after Queen Elizabeth II's death, Markle has spoken out about the challenging period for the royal family and said that she's ''really grateful'' for being with her husband at such a difficult moment.

"There’s been such an outpouring of love and support. I’m really grateful that I was able to be with my husband to support him, especially during that time.''

Further, Meghan added, "What's so beautiful is to look at the legacy that his grandmother was able to leave on so many fronts. Certainly, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what that looks like. I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her. It’s been a complicated time, but my husband, ever the optimist, said, "Now she’s reunited with her husband.''

Over the years, Markle has always praised the Queen for the kind behaviour she has always shown her. In the same interview, Markle recalled her first official engagement with the Queen and told, "I've reflected on that first official engagement that I had with her, how special that felt. I feel fortunate. And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family, "she said.

The Duchess of Sussex will be honoured with the 2022 class of Variety’s Power of Women award for her all her achievements in different fields, including her philanthropic work.

Over the years, Deepika Padukone has become the face and voice of mental health in India, and beyond. The actress, producer, and philanthropist featured on the podcast ‘Archetype’ hosted by Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex. The episode, which also features American actress Constance Wu, deep dives into the importance of taking care of our minds, as we do with our bodies.

During her conversation with Meghan, Deepika said, “It's (mental health) the same way we have physical ailments. Our mind is very much a part of our body. But somehow, when it comes to mental illness, we start treating our minds like outside of our bodies”.

In many parts of the world, including India, mental health and conversations around it are still considered taboo.

Deepika broke this down beautifully, “There's two parts to this. One is, I think, where people struggle the most, especially in India, where there's so much stigma attached to mental illness - creating awareness. Most of us don't even know that we're struggling with mental illness. And second, if we are to destigmatize it, to let people know that it's okay to seek help and to let caregivers know that it's okay for someone to go through this.”

For Deepika, her family has been a critical support system. She says, “Today it's all about the little things, like hugging my sister or just late-night conversations with my husband - those are the moments that really fill me up today”.

The actress who is married to actor Ranveer Singh also mentioned how the two have been apart for a while due to work commitments. "My husband was at a music festival for a week and he’s just come back. So, he’s gonna be happy to see my face,” said Deepika during the podcast. There have been speculations about a rift between the couple as many reports stated that the marriage had a hit a rough patch. But going by Deepika's statement looks like things are well in paradise.

The actress also introspected on her journey citing that as difficult as navigating mental illness was, she was grateful that she went through that experience because it changed her life forever. She wrapped up by reflecting on her current work in the mental health space. “What is my purpose? It's about, when I leave this place, when I leave the earth, what is it that I can leave behind? And how many lives can I positively impact? I've been on that journey for the last couple of years”.

A new edition of Meghan Markle`s Archetype podcast, which launched last month with Serena Williams as the first guest, has finally come out.

Duchess of Sussex`s podcast released its most recent episode as the first one following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II earlier in September. The most recent episode followed a discussion on toxic Asian stereotypes featuring journalist Lisa Ling and actor-comedian Margret Cho.

Meghan and the guests discussed a variety of topics, including their own experiences, how they overcame stereotypes, the problematic representations of Asian women on television and in the media, and much more. The Duchess recalled the various cultures she was exposed to while growing up in Los Angeles and stressed that many Asian cultures were a part of her life in the opening scene of the `Demystification of Dragon Lady` episode.

Meghan acknowledged that she had been ignorant of the stereotypes that many Asian women endured for a very long time and emphasised the negative portrayal of Asians on silver screen. She said, "This toxic stereotyping of women of Asian descent... this doesn`t just end once the credits roll.

Movies like Austin Powers and Kill Bill presented these caricatures of women of Asian descent as oversexualized or aggressive."Before the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, three episodes of Archetype were broadcast, featuring guests like Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Mindy Kaling who seemed to dispel stereotypes about women. Following the late monarch`s funeral on September 19, a week of mourning was observed by Queen Elizabeth`s family. After that, the members of the Royal family went back to work.

The podcast has resumed, but the release date for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry`s Netflix docu-series has been further delayed as a result of the Queen`s death.

For a brief period, it looked like there was a thaw in the relations of Prince Harry and rest of British royal family in the aftermath of Queen Elizabeth II's demise.

For a brief period, it looked like there was a thaw in the relations of Prince Harry and rest of British royal family in the aftermath of Queen Elizabeth II's demise. However, less than 10 days after her funeral, Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have been trundled down to the bottom of the royal family's website, alongside minor royals and the disgraced Prince Andrew. Reportedly, the 'demotion' came after the royal family website was updated. Earlier, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were placed in the middle of the list. Upon clicking their names, the readers were taken to their dedicated pages. However, after the update, both sit below the likes of Princess Alexandra and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Prince Michael of Kent and his wife Marie-Christine have been removed from the list entirely for being 'non-working royals'. According to British media, the move is in line with King Charles III's view of having a slimmed and toned-down monarchy as the public cannot continue to fund an ever-expanding royal family. Notably, this is not the first time in the aftermath of the Queen's demise that Prince Harry has been cast aside by the top royals. As reported by WION, he was barred from wearing his military uniform at the Queen's vigil, primarily because when he quit royal life in 2020 and moved to California with Meghan, he was stripped of the right. But it wasn't to be the final occasion when he was reminded of his flagrant past. A day before the state funeral, King Charles III had organised an elaborate ceremony for the world leaders. While most royal members were invited, the Meghan-Harry couple was given a cold shoulder. According to reports, they had been informed that the event was only for working royals. The report further mentioned that the couple was apparently baffled after hearing about the decision as royal officials insisted that they do not attend the event. Former staff of Meghan Markle branded the Duchess of Sussex a “narcissistic sociopath” who was carefully plotting her exit from the royal palace, a new book has contended.

The book, called ‘Courtiers: the Hidden Power Behind the Crown’, written by The Times' royal correspondent Valentine Low, claims that the royal aides were treated poorly by Prince Harry and Meghan, and they began calling themselves the ‘Sussex Survivors Club’, reports The Mirror newspaper.

Speaking to the author, one of the ex-staff said, “She wanted to be rejected, because she was obsessed with that narrative from Day One.”

The book details what had transpired in the run-up to the couple’s departure and the kind of relationship they shared with their aides.

The relations between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and their team had soured in 2020 after Harry told members of the press who had been invited to cover the royal tour of the South Pacific, “Thanks for coming, even though you weren’t invited.”

"This was spectacularly rude — and incorrect. The media had been invited to cover the tour. Later, Harry’s staff told him how badly his remarks had gone down. He replied: 'Well, you shouldn’t have made me do it,” the book claims.

The staff further claimed they “were played” by the Sussexes, with a former aide even alleging that Meghan’s departure was premeditated and that “one of [her] concerns was whether she was going to be able to make money for herself”.

“Everyone knew that the institution would be judged by her happiness. The mistake they made was thinking that she wanted to be happy,” a former aide was quoted as saying.

“She wanted to be rejected, because she was obsessed with that narrative from Day One.”

The book further alleges that the Duchess’ behaviour left Private Secretary Sam Cohen, PR executive Sarah Latham and assistant press secretary Marnie Gaffney stunned.

After a disagreement with his father when the new King forbade Meghan Markle from attending the grieving Royal Family on the day the Queen passed away, insiders indicate that a furious Prince Harry turned down supper with King Charles III and his brother the Prince of Wales at Balmoral.

On September 8, the royal family hurried to the Scottish estate to say their final goodbyes to their cherished mother and grandmother. The Duke of Sussex reportedly wanted his wife to accompany.

According to rumours, the former 'Suits' actress was invited, but Britain's new King advised his youngest son it was "not appropriate" for her to be there over the phone.

The resulting argument, in which Harry reportedly struggled to convince his father to let Meghan travel with him, is said to have cost him the opportunity to say goodbye to William, their uncles Andrew and Edward, and the flight they were taking to Scotland.

The prince was so enraged that his wife had been banned and that he had missed his first flight that he refused to have dinner that evening with King Charles III, William, and Queen Consort Camilla. Two years ago, he and the duchess sensationally quit royal duties and left the UK for California before making a series of stunning allegations against The Firm.

Instead, according to The Sun, he dined with the Duke of York and the Earl and Countess of Wessex before departing early the following morning.

Harry and the rest of the Royal Family had to unexpectedly reunite after the death of the Queen.

Not only Markle but King Charles III, the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth was seen wiping off his tears during the funeral. Markle has always shared a good bond with the late Queen Elizabeth. Meghan Markle waves tearful goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II at her funeral

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has sought a “one-to-one meeting” with King Charles III, a royal insider has claimed, saying that the “brave request” was made in an attempt to build the bridges between the two.

In a recent YouTube video, US-based entertainment and royals reporter Neil Sean said that Meghan had written to the new monarch for a private meeting before leaving for California.

Sean said that he received this information from a “very good source”, saying that the request for the solo meet probably came from Meghan because Harry could be “hot-headed” and prone to argue with his father.

“It would be an opportunity to clear the air, pull the rights from wrongs and explain some of the rationale behind what they’ve been doing for the past two years,” he said.

“Now, you have to admire Meghan’s self-belief, whatever you think.”

So far, it is unknown what would be the topic of their conversation, but Sean believes that it can either be related to their current standing within the royal family or perhaps to resolve their differences.

It is compulsory to request King's presence through a letter, Sean said.

“According to that good source, this [request] was made in a formal letter; this is how you write to the King, through his equerry and then, of course, that's passed on etc,” he said.

Meghan Markle was left 'shaken' after her surprise car ride with Sophie, Queen's 'Second Daughter': Report

Brothers Prince Williams and Prince Harry will be together when mounting a silent vigil beside the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday.

Reportedly, Prince William, the Prince of Wales, will stand at the head of the coffin while Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will stand at its foot for the 15-minute vigil. Both will be in uniform while the other grandchildren will be wearing morning coats and dark formal dresses, adorned with decorations.

Both brothers standing in close proximity had become a rare phenomenon up until the departure of their grandmother. However, ever since Queen Elizabeth II passed away, the brothers have kept aside everything and tried to present a singular front, at least in the public eye.

However, the odd flare-up is still there. As reported by WION, Prince Harry was reportedly barred from wearing his military uniform at the Queen's vigil, primarily because when he quit royal life in 2020 and moved to California with his wife Meghan Markle, he was stripped of the right.

World leaders such as US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron amongst others hundreds of heads of state will be gathering in London on the eve of the Queen's funeral, scheduled to take place on Monday at the Windsor Chapel where she will be buried.

The report further mentioned that the couple was apparently baffled after hearing about the decision as royal officials insisted that they do not attend the event.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has put her Spotify podcast Archetypes on hold during the official mourning period for Queen Elizabeth. An alert on the platform informed listeners about the development on Monday. “New episodes of Archetypes will be paused during the official mourning period for Her Majesty The Queen," the alert said.

Earlier on Monday, her husband Prince Harry paid a highly personal tribute to the late queen. He said that he cherished the time he had spent with his grandmother and promised to honour his father King Charles as the new monarch.

However, the couple made an unexpected appearance with Prince William, the heir to the throne, and his wife Kate for a walkabout near Windsor Castle on Saturday.

Setting aside their reported differences Prince William and Prince Harry reunited at Windsor Castle with their wives Kate and Meghan to inspect floral tributes to Queen Elizabeth II.

According to images released by the British media, both couples were seen outside the gates of the castle greeting the Britons.

With hopes they could together secure the monarchy's appeal to younger generations, "the fab four" were dressed in mourning black.

Meghan Markle's recent interview gets called out by Nelson Mandela's grandson for this reason

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has revealed how she was not eager to share photos of her two children with the British press. Markle in a cover story for The Cut stated there was a reason why she was never eager to share her kid's photos, whom she shares with her husband Prince Harry.

Meghan revealed that while was an active member of the British royal family, the Duchess of Sussex was expected to release pictures to the Royal Rota which is the press pool that covers Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family.
"There’s literally a structure," said Markle and reasoned she wasn't keen to share photos to the press because they were referring to them with the 'N-word'. Markle is biracial.

"Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my children before I can share it with the people that love my children? You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game."

Markle also claimed that both Harry and she had no control over the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account that they initially shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton.

One month before Archie was born, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched their own Instagram handle, @sussexroyal, where they refused to play the "exchange game."

Instead, they broke their own news and even posted photos that sometimes never made it to the Royal Rota. The handle was closed after the couple stepped back as senior members of the royal family. They were prohibited from using royal in their branding.

Markle later announced that she wasn’t returning to social media due to constant bullying from trolls.

The duchess also weighed in on the "toxic" tabloid culture and how it negatively impacted two families.

Markle claimed her husband blamed the media for ruining his relationship with his father, Prince Charles. "Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process,’" she said. "It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision."

Markle herself has had a strained relationship with her father, former Hollywood lighting director Thomas Markle..

"It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision." Markle herself has had a strained relationship with her father, former Hollywood lighting director Thomas Markle..

Meghan Markle claims British media referred her children with the 'N-word'

In her brand new podcast for Spotify, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has opened up about the criticism she faced when she began her relationship with Prince Harry. Markle alleged that she was called 'ambitious' for dating the Prince.

Markle opened up in the first episode of her new Archetypes podcast titled 'The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams' and said that when she began dating Prince Harry, it was seen as a "terrible, terrible thing."
Markle added that as a child she knew being ambitious was a positive trait but later learnt a "thing or two" about the labels and conventions that hold women back.

In her new podcast series, Markle expresses her desire to explore “the boxes women have been placed in for generations.”

“I don’t remember personally feeling the negative connotation behind the word ambitious until I started dating my now husband, and apparently ambition is a terrible, terrible thing for women,” she stated in the podcast. “Since I felt the negativity behind it, it’s really hard to unfeel it. I can’t unsee it either in the millions of girls and women who make themselves smaller, so much smaller on a regular basis.”

Markle had friend and tennis superstar Serena Williams as her guest on the first episode of the show. The Duchess explained that through her podcast she wants to explore stereotypes that inhibit women, "boxes like diva, crazy, the B-word" and get to the bottom of where they come from, why they've stuck around for so long.

She also added that she wanted to share her experiences and those of other women, in the hope that her own "own lived experience will help other women open up to reveal the layers of thrive within all of us".

In the podcast, Markle and Williams also discussed how women were perceived differently once they became mothers. "The double standard between how men and women are treated after having kids is so, so real. I’ve felt it," Markle said.

Markle's conversation is seen as a fresh take on her and Harry's strained relationship with Britain's royal family which was called the 'firm' earlier by Markle herself. The couple quit their roles as senior members of the royal family in 2021 and moved to the US to live a more private life. They share two children together.

Prince Harry makes surprise visit to South Africa before his UK return

Everyone is aware of Meghan Markle and the media scrutiny she has faced ever since her relationship with Prince Harry was made official. Now, a new book titled, 'Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors' has revealed an array of shocking revelations about the royal's life.

The new book is by acclaimed British author Tom Bower who has also in the past written books on several prominent personalities including Harry's father Prince Charles.

In the new book, Bower talked about when Meghan was left shocked after an acclaimed magazine focused more on her high-profile relationship despite her philanthropy work, acting or her long-running drama 'Suit'.

Describing Meghan's reaction in the book via London's The Times Saturday, they wrote, the mother of two was “ecstatic” when Vanity Fair chose her as their September cover story star in 2017, but when the story came out, Markle was shocked to see that the cover of the magazine was titled, “She’s Just Wild About Harry,'' despite telling her that it will be all about Meghan and her work.

After the issue was made public, furious Meghan called her publicist and told them that palace was not happy with the issue and she was disappointed with her US-based public relations company, Sunshine Sachs, as per the book.

In the Vanity fair issue, Meghan talked about her relationship with the British prince for the first time, "We’re in love. I'm sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time."

Bower wrote in the news book, via Page six, ''Sunshine Sachs had demanded that the magazine satisfy Meghan’s requirement that she be presented as a philanthropist and activist, without considering one problem: Vanity Fair’s scrupulous researchers could find no evidence of her global philanthropy and activism.''

Soon after the Vanity Fair cover, the couple announced their engagement publicly.

The details of a probe into allegations of bullying by the Duchess of Sussex against royal family staff will not be published despite its outcome leading to reform in the palace's administration, according to a senior family source.

Buckingham Palace launched an investigation last year and gathered testimony from staff about their experiences of working for Meghan, before she and her husband Prince Harry quit frontline duties in January 2020.

During a briefing on the annual royal finances report, published Thursday, a senior palace source said the details would remain hidden to protect the privacy of those who took part.

"Because of the confidentiality of the discussions we have not communicated the detailed recommendations," they said.

"The recommendations have been incorporated within policies and procedures wherever appropriate, and policies and procedures have changed."

Meghan and Harry shocked the royal family when they accused unnamed members of racism during an interview with US talk show star Oprah Winfrey.

She denied the bullying allegations, which first emerged in March 2021, just before the Oprah interview, and called them "a calculated smear campaign".

The allegations and the interview deepened a crisis for the family, which has been hit by revelations about Prince Andrew's links to late billionaire financier and paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Relations between Harry and his father Prince Charles have reportedly been strained, but a royal source said he had a "very emotional" first meeting with his granddaughter Lili earlier this month.

Harry and Meghan were low-key attendees at the queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, jetting in from California with their children Lili, aged one, and Archie, aged three.

Charles's charitable foundation is currently under investigation for an alleged cash-for-honours scandal.

Separately, the Sunday Times last weekend reported Charles had accepted £2.5 million ($3 million) in charitable donations from Qatari former prime minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani in carrier bags and holdalls.

The royal source said at the Wednesday briefing the cash was "passed immediately to his charities".

"For more than half a decade, with the situation as it has evolved, this has not happened and it would not happen again," the source added.

- Royal finances -

The briefing was held as the family released its 2021/22 report on the Sovereign Grant, which pays for the monarch's official duties and upkeep of royal palaces.

The report showed the pandemic was still curtailing the family's earning power, with income below 50 percent of pre-coronavirus levels as public visits to palaces took a hit.

Keeper of the Privy Purse Michael Stevens warned that the family finances were also likely to be squeezed by rising prices.

"Looking ahead, with the Sovereign Grant likely to be flat in the next couple of years, inflationary pressures on operating costs and our ability to grow supplementary income likely to be constrained in the short term," he said.

"We will continue to deliver against our plans and manage these impacts through our own efforts and efficiencies."

The grant came to £86.3 million in the financial year ending in March 2021, a slight rise from the year before.

The figure is made up of a core grant of £51.8 million, which funds official travel, property maintenance and the operating costs of the queen's household, and an additional £34.5 million for the reservicing of Buckingham Palace.

The grant is set as equivalent to 15 percent of the profits of the Crown Estate -- a huge portfolio of land, property and other assets such as wind farms that belongs to the ruling monarch but is independently managed.

The Crown Estate's net income is handed to the Treasury under an agreement sealed in 1760.

Meghan and Harry welcomed their baby girl, on June 4 2021 in USA, last year, where they shifted after stepping back from their royal duties in the year 2020.

Lilibet turns 1! Queen, Kate & other royals send b'day wishes to Harry & Meghan's little girl

Lilibet, meet Lilibet! If multiple reports are to be believed, Britain's Queen Elizabeth II is going to be meeting her great-granddaughter and her namesake Lilibet Diana, daughter of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, for the first time on Saturday.

The former royals will be part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration in London over the weekend which is also the time when their daughter turns one. Meghan and Harry welcomed their child, a baby girl, on June 4 2021 in America where they live now after quitting their roles as senior members of the British Royal Family in 2020. They also share a son, Archie together.

The couple, to honour the Queen and Harry's mother, late Princess Diana, named their second-born Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. At the time of her birth, the royal family was not present in America and also had a strained relationship with Harry and Meghan in the aftermath of their infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Reports state that the Queen has asked her family to put their differences aside and provide a united front during the platinum jubilee celebrations the coming weekend. Harry and Meghan are likely to invite the Queen as the guest of honour at baby Lilibet's first birthday. The couple, along with their two kids are expected to fly to London in the coming days and will be staying at Frogmore Cottage- of which they have a rolling lease- dispelling rumours that they have abandoned their UK base forever.

Meanwhile, Harry and his brother Prince William have been working on their strained relationship for the past few months over FaceTime. The family is likely to come together to celebrate the 75 years of the monarchy as one unit.
Multiple reports state that Lilibet’s birthday party will be taking place at Frogmore Cottage, where the Sussexes will be based during their stay in the UK, with Princess Eugenie and family reported to have temporarily moved out.

Reports that the queen may be planning to attend the birthday party came up after it was speculated that she will miss the Derby on Saturday. The famous horse race remains one of the few major prizes the Queen has never won, and she has no runners in the race this year.

Queen Elizabeth to meet Harry and Meghan's daughter for the first time during platinum jubilee celebrations

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to attend a cathedral service early next month as part of celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II's Jubilee year, their biographer said Friday.

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, stepped down from royal duties and moved to California early in 2021. Since then they have visited the UK together only once.

Omid Scobie, who co-authored a favourable biography of the couple, told reporters in London: "We'll definitely see Harry and Megan at the Thanksgiving service at St Paul's Cathedral."

The service on June 3 will be "really the first official moment" when the couple join the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, he said.

"That's really what they've been planning all along," Scobie said, calling jubilee events a "glimpse" into the royal family's future.

The service at the landmark cathedral where Harry's father wed Lady Diana Spencer in 1981 is designed to give thanks for the queen's long reign and one of the main events during four days of public celebrations.

British newspapers had reported that Harry and Meghan were likely to attend the service but Scobie's comment will be seen as confirmation, given his close links.

The queen's disgraced second son Prince Andrew -- who earlier this year settled a US civil claim for sexual assault -- is reportedly also planning to go.

Scobie said the public could witness a "special moment" of the queen meeting Meghan and Harry's two children, Lilibet and Archie, her great-grandchildren.

Lilibet -- who turns one on June 4 -- has never met her 96-year-old great-grandmother who was called the nickname when she was a girl.

He added there were rumours that Harry and Meghan would hold the christening of Lilibet in the UK, but to his knowledge, this would not happen during jubilee events.

Harry and Meghan's decision to move to north America, for privacy and financial independence, caused shockwaves through the royal family.

But it was compounded by public criticisms from the couple, including in a television interview when they accused an unnamed senior royal of racism.

The palace is bracing for more potential revelations from Harry in an upcoming autobiography.

In April, Harry and Meghan made their first joint trip to the UK since emigrating, seeing the Queen in private during a flying visit.

Scobie said Harry and Meghan "will not be out" on the balcony of Buckingham Palace alongside prominent royals on June 2 to watch the Trooping of the Colour and a flypast.

But he said they could make a "surprise appearance" on June 5, when the queen may emerge onto the balcony again with family members.

The queen has suffered recent health issues that could affect her participation in national events marking her record-breaking 70th year on the throne.

British media reported on Friday that has gone to her Scottish estate of Balmoral for a short break ahead of the celebrations.

The former 'Suits' star did not answer any of the reporter's questions, instead quietly placed the roses tied to a purple ribbon for 10-year-old Uziyah Garcia, one of the victims of the attack. She was accompanied by a bodyguard.

The US government is facing severe criticism in the aftermath of the tragedy with most demanding stricter gun-laws across the state. Queen Elizabeth's son Prince Andrew, her grandson Harry and his wife Meghan will not join her on the Buckingham Palace balcony for this year's Trooping the Colour, royal officials said on Friday.

Instead, the 96-year-old monarch has decided to limit numbers for the traditional set-piece appearance on her official birthday celebration to working royals only.

"Only those members of the royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the queen" will join her on June 2, a spokesman said.

The decision was taken "after careful consideration", he added. Speculation had mounted that all three could be at the event, which kicks off four days of public celebrations for the queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Andrew, 62, in March made his first public appearence since settling a US civil claim for sexual assault, and after public outrage at his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The former Royal Navy helicopter pilot provided his mother, who has been in ill health and had difficulty walking and standing, with a steadying arm at a memorial service to her late husband, Prince Philip.

His prominent role at the televised Westminster Abbey event was seen as a sign that his mother believed he still has a part to play at family occasions.

But his appearance caused controversy -- and dominated coverage of the memorial service -- and Friday's announcement may be seen as a sign the palace does not want a repeat.

Andrew has strenuously denied the assault claims and remains stripped of his honorary military titles and charities, giving him no official royal role.

Senior royals -

Speculation that Harry would return from his self-imposed exile in California has also increased after he visited his grandmother at her Windsor Castle home last month.

The 37-year-old former British Army captain is the second son of her eldest son and heir Prince Charles, and his first wife, Princess Diana.

He quit royal life in March last year, moving to the United States with his wife Meghan, where both have publicly complained about life in Britain's most famous family.

The couple, who still use their official titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are now involved in charitable and philanthropic work.

Denying them a place on the balcony will likely be seen as the queen refusing to accept a "half-in, half-out" approach to royal duties.

There was no immediate word on whether all three would be involved in the other public events to mark the queen's record-breaking 70 years on the throne.

But a spokeswoman for Harry and Meghan indicated they would be there with their children Archie, who turned three on Friday, and Lilibet, who was born in June last year and has yet to meet her great-grandmother.

The couple were "excited and honoured to attend the queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children", she added.

The decision means the queen will be joined on the balcony for the end of the military pageant and ceremonial fly-past by senior royals led by Charles and his second wife, Camilla.

Harry's older brother Prince William and his wife Kate will be there, with their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The queen's youngest son, Prince Edward, will be accompanied by his wife, Sophie, and their children Louise and James.

Her only daughter, Princess Anne, will also be on the balcony. The queen has allowed her second husband, Tim Laurence, even though he is not a working royal.

The palace spokesman said the queen recognised him as a "frequent attendee and support for the Princess Royal (Anne) on official engagements".
