Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have got an invitation to attend the coronation ceremony of King Charles III on May 6 in the UK but the royal family decided to skip the christening ceremony Princess Lilibet held last Friday. Lilibet is Harry and Meghan's daughter.
According to multiple reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex extended an invite to King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton, but they were not in attendance.

There were between 20-30 guests at Friday`s intimate gathering, including Meghan`s mother, Doria Ragland, Lilibet`s godfather, Tyler Perry, and an unnamed godmother.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told People, "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

After their grandfather Charles became monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth last September, Archie, 3, and Lilibet was afforded the titles of prince and princess under rules set out by King George V in 1917.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in January, Prince Harry spoke of his wish for his children to have a meaningful relationship with the royal family."I`ve said before that I`ve wanted a family, not an institution--so of course, I would love nothing more than for our children to have relationships with members of my family, and they do with some, which brings me great joy," Harry said.

During a virtual event for his bestselling memoir Spare last weekend, Harry talked about "feeling more and more distant" from his family in the UK. That widening gulf was apparent days earlier when it was revealed that Harry, and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, 41, were being evicted from their Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor, England, by King Charles, 74.

The couple`s spokesperson confirmed that they were "requested to vacate their residence," while Charles's brother Prince Andrew -- disgraced because of his links to convicted sex offender Jeffery Epstein -- has reportedly been offered the five-bedroom residence. The palace has not commented on the decision, and a royal source says that discussions about the reshuffle are private family matters.

Royal Family skips Princess Lilibet's christening despite an invite from Meghan and Harry

Prince Harry recently sat down with Dr Gabor Maté, who specialises in childhood development, trauma, and addiction, for a chat. With Dr Mate, Harry discussed his recently released memoir, 'Spare', his mental health struggles, family and a lot more. Harry's book garnered a lot of attention, especially for the shocking revelations he made about his royal life, 'Megxit', and childhood traumas.

Praises his wife Meghan Markle for saving him:

During the discussion, Harry credited his wife Meghan for ''saving him'' and changing his life. "My wife saved me. I was stuck in this world, and she was from a different world and helped draw me out of that," he said, before adding, "But none of the elements of my life now would have been possible without me seeing it for myself."

Adding further, Harry said he felt free after the release of his memoir 'Spare' as he called Meghan an ''exceptional human being.''

"My partner is an exceptional human being and I'm eternally grateful for the wisdom and the space that she has been able to give me," he continued.

Harry has previously revealed that it was Meghan who motivated him to seek therapy. In his book, the Duke revealed the incident that prompted him to seek therapy.

Recalling the heated conversation with his wife Meghan, Harry shares that Meghan did something that he "took the wrong way" due to a cultural difference and a language barrier.

"I was also just overly sensitive that night. I thought, Why’s she having a go at me? I snapped at her and spoke to her harshly and cruelly," Harry wrote before adding, "As the words left my mouth, I could feel everything in the room come to a stop. The gravy stopped bubbling, and the molecules of air stopped orbiting. Even Nina Simone seemed to pause."

Dr. Mate diagnosed Prince Harry with three mental health disorders:

During the interview, they both talked about many different things from Harry's personal life to Princess Diana's death among other things. And on the basis of Harry's book and what he shared during the talk, Dr Mate diagnosed the Duke with four mental health disorders including - attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety. Prince Harry later admitted that he has been diagnosed with PTSD in the past.

In his book, Harry has revealed many dark secrets about his royal life, from his fight with his brother Prince William and other royal family members to trying drugs and much more.

Meanwhile, recently many sources revealed that King Charles has asked Meghan and Harry to vacate the Frogmore Cottage, which was gifted to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by the Queen.

If reports are to be believed, King Charles has offered the Frogmore Cottage to brother Prince Andrew.

Prince Harry praises wife Meghan Markle, calls her an 'exceptional human being'

Chris Rock was his usual self during his Netflix special Selective Outrage as he took a dig at Will Smith and the Oscars drama last year in which the latter slapped him. He also made jokes about the British royal family and mostly about Meghan Markle’s equation with the royals. He claimed that most of the stuff that Meghan Markle revealed during her interviews wasn’t really racism, but just “in-laws sh**”.

Chris called the royal family “the OGs of racism" and "Sugarhill Gang of racism" during the Saturday night special. He added that the family "invested in slavery like it was Shark Tank."

"Sometimes it's just some in-laws' sh**. Because she's complaining, I'm like, 'What the f*** is she talking about? 'They're so racist, they wanted to know how brown the baby was going to be...' I'm like, 'That's not racist,' cause' even Black people want to know how brown the baby gon' be. S***. We check behind the ears,” Chris joked.

He opened the segment on Meghan Markle by saying that "everyone is trying to be the victim, including people who know g**damn well they're not victims." Then he mentioned Meghan’s name and added, she “seems like a nice lady, just complaining.”

"Like, didn't she hit the light-skinned lottery," Rock asked. "And she's still going off complaining?"

Chris Rock then addressed the audience and said that he understood her dilemma because it’s about a "Black girl trying to be accepted by her white in-laws. Oh, it's hard. It's so hard, it's very hard — but it ain't as hard as a white girl trying to be accepted by her Black in-laws. Now, that s*** is really hard. If you are Black, and you wanna be accepted by your white in-laws, then you need to marry a Kardashian because they accept everybody. Kris Jenner is like the Statue of Liberty."

Chris Rock’s comedy special comes two years after Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry went public with their claims and accusations against the royal family on Oprah Winfrey’s chat show. The couple made shocking claims that the family wanted to know “how dark” their baby would be or their difference of opinion in the way of life.

Chris Rock mocked Meghan on her statement that she didn’t know anything about them before marrying into the family. Rock argued that Meghan was "acting all dumb like she didn't know nothing. Going on Oprah, 'I didn't know, I had no idea how racist they were.' It's the royal family! You didn't Google those motherf***s? What the f*** is she talking about, she didn't know?"

“It's the royal family, they're the original racists. They invented colonialism. They're the OGs of racism. They're the Sugarhill Gang of racism. Like, 'a hip, hop, the hippie, the hippie to the hip hip hop-a don't stop — the racism,” he added.

The comedian also addressed his showdown with Will Smith – who slapped him while he was presenting at the Oscars. Chris said that he is not a “victim, baby and you will never see me on Oprah or Gayle, crying. You will never see it. Never gonna happen." He joked that he got "smacked by Suge Smith."

"I got smacked at the f***ing Oscars by this motherf***er. And people are like, 'Did it hurt?' It still hurts!" said Rock.

Contrary to various news reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan Markle will not take any legal action against the makers of hit comedy series South Park. Soon after the episode was aired, several media reports claimed that Markle was "upset and overwhelmed" by the show and even hinted that they were looking at taking a legal route against the cartoon parody.

"Their legal team are casting an eye over the episode to see what is wrong, and what could be turned into something more sinister,” said a royal expert to New York Post. However, the assessment seems to have been wrong. A representative for Prince Harry and Meghan shut down any rumours of a lawsuit Tuesday, in a statement given to E! News. “It’s all frankly nonsense,” said the representative. “Totally baseless, boring reports.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle break their silence over South Park's parody episode on them

Meghan Markle's half-sister Samantha has requested both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to testify in her defamation case against the Duchess of Sussex. Samantha is willing to prove that some of Meghan's remarks during the interview with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021 were false.

Samantha reportedly wants the couple to testify in separate interviews that could take place on the same day. According to reports, Samantha expects her half-sister to make 38 different admissions during her deposition.

Samantha also wants Meghan to retract claims she made about the royal family and admit that she lied about her upbringing in bid to promote 'rags-to-royalty' narrative.

"She is asking the court to decide whether she and Meghan 'had ever 'been close,' how many times the two 'crossed paths' as adults and whether Meghan's feelings that she 'grew up as an only child' are 'true' or false,'" Meghan's lawyers revealed.

Samantha reportedly decided to file a lawsuit after Meghan claimed she grew up as an only child. "Plaintiff (Samantha) first asserts that she can disprove that Meghan 'grew up as an only child'," the documents reportedly read.

"But this perception is inherently unfalsifiable. It is hard to imagine a more personal and subjective feeling than how one views their childhood. Moreover, Plaintiff's opposition completely ignores the context of the statement, where Ms Winfrey asked Meghan about her 'relationship' with Plaintiff (to whom Ms Winfrey referred as her half-sister on her father's side).

"Meghan's response to that question that she 'grew up as an only child' was obviously not meant to be a statement of objective fact that she had no genetic siblings or half-siblings. Rather, it was a textbook example of a subjective statement about how a person feels about her childhood," the document further stated.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to testify in a defamation case?

Former "Top Gear" presenter Jeremy Clarkson on Monday apologised for a much-criticised column he wrote in The Sun tabloid saying he hated Prince Harry's wife Meghan.

Clarkson, 62, wrote last month that he dreamed of the day when Meghan "is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant 'shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her".

The piece triggered a wave of protest and became the UK Independent Press Standards Organisation's most complained-about article.

Harry himself said in a television interview broadcast on January 8 that it was "horrific and... hurtful and cruel towards my wife".

He also said it encouraged misogyny around the world.

Clarkson wrote on Instagram: "I really am sorry... This is me putting my hands up. It's a mea culpa with bells on."

In the column commenting on Harry and Meghan's Netflix documentary series, Clarkson said of Meghan: "I hate her on a cellular level"

Clarkson gained global fame by presenting the popular BBC motoring show "Top Gear" but was dropped as host in 2015 for assaulting a male producer.

He now makes a similar show for Amazon, as well as a documentary series about farming.

Clarkson wrote in his apology that he sent his column to The Sun without reading it out to anyone -- as he usually does -- and only realised later that what he wrote was "horrible".

"I abhor violence against women," he added but conceded the column "seemed to be advocating for just that".

Known for his provocative columns often espousing right-wing political views, the presenter also claimed that he had been referring to a scene from the "Game of Thrones" series.

But he said he forgot to specify this.

The Sun in late December said it was "sincerely sorry" for the publication and had removed the column from its website and archive.

Harry and Meghan said on Christmas Eve that the tabloid had not been in touch with them directly, slamming the newspaper's statement on its website as "nothing more than a PR stunt".

Clarkson said Monday he emailed the couple on Christmas Day to apologise, telling them "the language I'd used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry".

He vowed to try to be "vigilant" in future, saying he may switch to writing about becoming a grandfather.

Former 'Top Gear' host Jeremy Clarkson apologises for Meghan column

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reacted to 'Top Gear' host Jeremy Clarkson's public apology for the offensive article he wrote about Markle in December 2022. Clarkson issued an apology via a statement on Instagram and expressed remorse for writing the controversial article that was published in the UK tabloid The Sun. In his statement, Clarkson stated he had reached out to both Harry and Meghan on Christmas Day.

However, a spokesperson of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has revealed that the former TV host had only reached out to Harry. In a statement shared with the media, the spokesperson said, "On December 25, 2022, Mr Clarkson wrote solely to Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex. The contents of his correspondence were marked Private and Confidential."

"While a new public apology has been issued today by Mr Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories, and misogyny," it continued. "Unless each of his other pieces were also written "in a hurry," as he states, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident shared in haste, but rather a series of articles shared in hate."

Clarkson's apology was shared on social media on Monday where he apologised for writing an article of hate about Meghan Markle.

"One of the strange things I've noticed in recent times is that whenever an MP or a well-known person is asked to apologise for something, no matter how heartfelt or profound that apology may be, it's never enough for the people who called for it in the first place."

"So I'm going to try and buck the trend this morning with an apology for the things I said in a Sun column recently about Meghan Markle. I really am sorry. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. This is me putting my hands up. It's a mea culpa with bells on," he wrote.

"Usually, I read what I've written to someone else before filing, but I was home alone on that fateful day, and in a hurry. So when I'd finished, I just pressed send," he continued. "And then, when the column appeared the next day, the land mine exploded."

The former 'Top Gear' host claimed he felt 'sick' to see th horrible story on print and compared it to a scene in 'Game Of Thrones.' "So it looked like I was actually calling for revolting violence to rain down on Meghan's head." (In the original article, Clarkson wrote, "At night, I'm unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her.")

"I therefore wrote to everyone who works with me saying how sorry I was and then on Christmas morning, I e-mailed Harry and Meghan in California to apologise to them too," Clarkson's Instagram statement added. "I said I was baffled by what they had been saying on TV but that the language I'd used in my column was disgraceful and that I was profoundly sorry."

"So can I move on now? Not sure. It's hard to be interesting and vigilant at the same time… But I promise you this, I will try," he concluded.

The original article was published on December 16 and sparked massive backlash. According to BBC, more than 6000 complaints were made to press regulator IPSO about the piece. The article was deleted post the backlash.

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry respond to Jeremy Clarkson's public apology

Prince Harry and his memoir 'Spare' are currently the hottest topics on the internet right now. Among other shocking details, the Duke revealed the incident that prompted him to seek therapy. In his book, Harry recalled the heated conversation with his wife Meghan after he "snapped" at her.

Addressing the matter, the 38-year-old Duke of Sussex wrote via US Weekly: "Maybe the wine went to my head. Maybe the weeks of battling the press had worn me down. "For some reason, when the conversation took an unexpected turn, I became touchy,"

The gravy stopped bubbling, and the molecules of air stopped orbiting. Even Nina Simone seemed to pause."

After a gap of 15 minutes, the couple, who share son Archie and daughter Lilibet, finally talked about the heated exchange in their bedroom.

"She was calm, but said in a quiet, level tone that, 'she would never stand for being spoken to like that'. 'I nodded'. She wanted to know where it came from," Harry wrote.

In the book, he also revealed that Meghan said she would never tolerate anything like this ever again in the future.

"Where did you ever hear a man speak like that to a woman?" Did you overhear adults speaking that way when you were growing up? Meghan asked Harry, who replied, "Yes."

"She wasn’t going to raise children in an atmosphere of anger or disrespect. She laid it all out, super-clear," wrote Harry.

Furthermore, Harry stated that his anger definitely came from deep inside and after this incident, he finally went for therapy.

"It came from somewhere deep inside, somewhere that needed to be excavated, and it was obvious that I could use some help with the job," Harry explained before revealing that William also asked him to go to therapy.

Prince Harry reveals ‘cruel’ fight with Meghan led him to therapy

Prince Harry has made many bombshell revelations in his upcoming memoir, 'Spare,' from his childhood struggles, his rift with brother Prince William, his cocaine addiction, his infamous Nazi costume to his love life with Meghan. In the memoir, Harry also addressed the much-controversial fight between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, revealing the real reason behind the fight.

The famous fight between Meghan and Kate has been in the news for years now. In 2018, the year Meghan and Harry tied the knot, several reports came out about Meghan making her sister-in-law cry. However, in 2021, Meghan denied the claims and said she was the one who actually cried.

During the Oprah Winfrey interview, Markle said, "The reverse happened."

"A few days before the wedding, she (Kate) was upset about something, pertaining to the fact that the issue was correct about the flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings.''

She said earlier, ''There wasn't a confrontation, and I don't think it's fair to get into the details of that because she apologised, and I have forgiven her. What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn't do but that happened to me."

Now, Harry has detailed the infamous matter in his upcoming memoir, the Daily Mail has revealed.

The fight took place a week before the nuptials when the Princess of Wales texted Meghan about Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaids dress for the occasion.

Describing the confrontation, Harry wrote that Meghan told Kate that she had a "baby brain because of her hormones."

I would like to get my father back; I would like to have my brother back," added the Duke of Sussex. In the clips released, Harry, without referring to anyone in particular, added that he and his wife Meghan Markle were brandished as the villains. "They feel as though it is better to keep us somehow as the villains." In another interview with CBS's Anderson Cooper, Harry claimed that the royal family had refused to support him and his wife as they raised grievances against the monarchy. "When we're being told for the last six years, 'We can't put a statement out to protect you,' but you do it for other members of the family, there comes a point when silence is betrayal," said Harry. Fresh trouble for Harry and Meghan? New poll after explosive Netflix series

British tabloid The Sun on Friday said it regretted publishing a column by former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson about Prince Harry's wife Meghan after a huge backlash.

In the article for The Sun last week, Clarkson wrote that he "hated" Meghan and dreamed of the day "when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her".

A record number of complaints against the column -- more than 20,000 -- was made to the UK Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) and many high-profile figures criticised the piece, including author Philip Pullman and London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

The article had been written in response to the couple's recent Netflix docuseries 'Harry & Meghan' but has since been removed from the newspaper's website.

"We at The Sun regret the publication of this article and we are sincerely sorry," The Sun said in a statement on its website.

It added the article would also be removed from its archives.

The Sun had already removed the article on Monday from its website at the request of Clarkson who said on Twitter he made "a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people".

He added: "I'm horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future."

In one of the most famous scenes in Game of Thrones, a female character makes a "walk of shame" where she is forced to walk down the streets naked as people throw rubbish at her.

"Columnists' opinions are their own, but as a publisher, we realise that with free expression comes responsibility," The Sun said.

In the Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan accuse the voracious UK tabloid press of racism, of trying to "destroy" her and of contributing to her miscarriage through a targeted campaign fuelled by palace briefings.

The Sun takes down Jeremy Clarkson's article on Meghan, issues apology

Britain’s royal family stuck to routine and remained silent Friday over the second half of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan’s documentary series, which made hard-hitting claims against Harry’s brother, Prince William.

While the first half of the six-part Netflix series concentrated on the couple’s bruising encounters with the British media, the final three episodes aimed criticism at the royal “firm” – the family and its staff.

In three hour-long episodes released Thursday, Harry claimed William screamed at him during a family meeting and accused palace officials of lying to protect his elder sibling, who is now heir to the throne. Meghan talked about wanting to end her life as she struggled to cope with toxic press coverage.

Harry, a grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II, married U.S. actress Meghan Markle in a fairy-tale wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018. Less than two years later the couple left Britain, citing what they saw as the media’s racist treatment of Meghan and a lack of support from the palace.

In the documentary Harry, 38, said William lashed out at him during a family summit at Sandringham Castle in January 2020 to talk about the couple’s plan to step down as senior royals.

“It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me and my father say things that just simply weren’t true. And my grandmother, you know, quietly sit there and take it all in,” Harry said.

He also accused royal communications officials of “leaking” and “planting” stories in the media, claiming staff would seek to deflect negative coverage of one royal by issuing a story about another member of the family.

Meghan, 41, revealed she thought about killing herself amid a torrent of negative media coverage before the couple decided to make a break with the royal household.

“It was like ‘All of this will stop if I am not here,’” she said.

Harry added that he believed the Mail on Sunday’s publication of a letter Meghan wrote her estranged father — over which she successfully sued the paper’s publisher — contributed to her having a miscarriage in 2020.

Neither Buckingham Palace, which represents the king, nor William’s Kensington Palace office has commented on the series.

There were no dissenting views in the documentary, which included interviews with the couple and supportive friends and commentators.

Royal expert Pauline Maclarnan, author of “Royal Fever: The British Monarchy in Consumer Culture,” said the relationship between William and Harry would be “very hard to repair” after the bombshell claims.

“This does seem to be very final,” she said.

Hours after the final episodes were released, senior royals put on a show of unity, attending a Christmas charity concert in London on Thursday evening. William, his wife Kate and their two elder children, George and Charlotte, were joined at the Westminster Abbey carol concert by King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla and other family members.

British newspapers, the focus of much of the couple’s ire, were furious about the series. The Daily Mail said in an editorial that “the only saving grace” was that Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September, “was spared seeing this tawdry exercise in self-promotion.”

The Sun branded Harry a “traitor,” contrasting him with “dutiful” William.

The Times of London urged Meghan and Harry to give up their royal titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Harry and Meghan must see the hypocrisy of claiming still to be royal,” the newspaper said in an editorial. “They have made clear that they consider themselves to be at war with the institution of monarchy, an institution that they appear to hold in contempt.”

The show comes at a crucial moment for the monarchy. The king is trying to show that the institution still has a role to play after the death in September of his mother, whose personal popularity dampened criticism of the crown during her 70-year reign.

While the Netlfix series has soured the couple’s relationship with the royal family — perhaps irreparably — Maclarnan said it would likely help the couple forge their new careers as U.S.-based charity campaigners and media personalities.

“I think it will have built their brand quite well,” she said. “I think a lot of people will see their perspective more, but particularly (the) younger generation. And I think really that’s where they’ve always aimed anyway.”

Also Read: `Harry & Meghan` is biggest debut for a documentary title on Netflix In three hour-long episodes released Thursday, Harry claimed William screamed at him during a family meeting and accused palace officials of lying to protect his elder sibling, who is now heir to the throne. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Christmas card is here!

In the latest episodes of 'Harry and Meghan', Prince Harry put the blame squarely on the media for his wife Meghan Markles' miscarriage.

Harry made the comments in the final episodes of the six-part docuseries, which aired on Netflix on Thursday.

Episodes four, five, and six highlighted the couple's wedding, gave a glimpse at their reception, and spoke of Meghan's deteriorating mental health and her 2020 miscarriage, and ultimately their decision to quit as working members of the family.

In the final episode, Meghan opened up about the miscarriage she suffered from in July 2020. She cited key stressors in her life at the time, including moving into their new home in Santa Barbara, California, issues with her father, and unrelenting media coverage.

"I was pregnant. I really wasn't sleeping. The first morning that we woke up in our new home is when I miscarried,” Meghan said.
Harry added, “I believe my wife suffered a miscarriage because of what the Mail did,” referencing Britain’s Mail on Sunday.
In 2019, the newspaper published a private letter Meghan sent to her father, Thomas Markle. The Duchess of Sussex later won a legal battle against the newspaper’s publisher.

"I watched the whole thing,” Harry continued, “Now, do we absolutely know the miscarriage was created, caused by that? Of course we don’t. But bearing in mind the stress that that caused, the lack of sleep and the timing of the pregnancy, how many weeks in she was, I can say, from what I saw, that miscarriage was created by what they were trying to do to her."

Depression and suicidal thoughts

The series also saw Meghan speaking about her depression and revealing how she struggled with suicidal thoughts amid all the bad press around her and her father's relationship.

"All of this will stop if I’m not here. And that was the scariest thing about it, it was such clear thinking,” Meghan said at one point.
Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland too said how it “really broke” her heart when Meghan told her she wanted to take her own life.

“To just constantly be picked at by these vultures, just picking away at her spirit, that she would actually think about not wanting to be here … that’s not an easy one for a mom to hear you know. And I can’t protect her. H (Harry) can’t protect her,” Ragland added.
Harry also admitted that he didn’t deal with Meghan’s deteriorating mental health well in the beginning.
“I knew she was struggling; we were both struggling, but I never thought it would get to that stage. The fact it got to that stage I felt angry and ashamed,” Harry recounted, adding, “I dealt with it as institutional Harry as opposed to husband Harry.”

Meghan stated that she thought she would seek help but wasn't allowed as there were concerns about how it would affect the institution's image.

Prince Harry blames media for wife Meghan Markle's miscarriage in 2020

Netflix opens up 'Meghan and Harry' with the formal British royals decked up like their contemporaries. In sharp jet blue overcoats, the Sussexes are shown performing choreographed hugs with school kids for the grand pretence of 'modern monarchy' despite the in-built contradiction between modernity and monarchy when placed next to each other. As Meghan Markle hints about her moments of self-harm citing what she was going through while she and Harry were pregnant with their first child, the documentary appears to be moving on to the path of addressing some tough questions: exploitation, racism, subjugation and generational trauma associated with all of these.

In the next frame, with an overlaying drone shot of Buckingham Palace, a former worshipping place of slavery, Harry says, "I feel as though being part of this family, it is my duty to uncover this exploitation..." There is a brief pause in Harry's speech at 'exploitation'.

To a second-generation Indian person born after the dissolution of British India into present-day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Harry's specific emphasis on 'exploitation' was triggering. It appeared as if the impossible was happening on the canvas of a globalised entertainment platform. Was Harry going to address the colonial exploits of his ancestors and its legacy in the non-European nations of 'Empire'? Extreme poverty, low life expectancy or anything remotely similar to the real 'commonwealth' legacy which is anything but glorious?

Alas! Harry's completion of his sentence after "exploitation" laid out the charter of documentary for the rest of its episodes as a glorified Public Relations exercise that it was going to be.

"I feel as though being part of this family, it is my duty to uncover this exploitation (Harry takes a pause)..."

"...And bribery that happens within our media," he said.

Harry's exploitation pause is emblematic of British moral bankruptcy when it comes to addressing every prevailing matter under the sun but Britain's imperial past. To pop culture, the portrayal of British tabloidism and the Royal family's perceived mistreatment of Meghan and Harry may be held as important if not significant. But to history, their current Netflix outing is a futile exercise in self-glorification.

If Harry's failure to address, if not apologise, for Britain's colonial crimes was another leaf off the book of royal ignorance for the roots of their royalty, Meghan's failure to address the same represents a moment in history when generational trauma about colonial exploits is being brushed under the carpet.

Meghan said that during the time she played Rachel Zane in NBC's 'Suits', she would visit India in hiatus. "I was writing op-eds about self-worth and about being biracial and volunteer work." Doesn't being biracial consist of a fundamental understanding of generational subjugation by colonialism?

To societies where an individual's self worth is derived as much personally as it is from family members and generations before them, Meghan Markle's depiction of self-worth alongside an intentional ignorance of colonialism represents a revelatory moment of disappointment in today's hyper-connected world.

Given the outsized role Britain played in disseminating racism around the world with its colonialism and slavery exploits, even a six-episodes long exercise for ‘setting the record straight’ – without any apologetic reckoning for Britain’s colonial past – is a royal PR effort dead at arrival.

Queen Elizabeth II did not attend the ceremony in 2022 due to failing health. She died on September 8 at the age of 96.

Printed on the opposite page was the text that said, "Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year." 🎄✉️ We’re pleased to share this year’s Christmas Card from The King and The Queen Consort. 📸 @samhussein, taken at the Braemar Games in September 2022. pic.twitter.com/Dzpqf62TWf — The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) December 11, 2022 × The Braemar Games is over 1,000 years old and traditionally host thousands of people to watch athletic events, bagpipe competitions and dancing, with Her Majesty presiding over the festival. King Charles releases first Christmas card as a monarch

Netflix docu-series 'Harry & Meghan' premiered on Thursday after weeks of speculations on how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's story would affect the British royal family. The OTT platform dropped the first three episodes of the series which mostly highlighted the early life of Harry and Meghan, their growing up years, and how they met.

The episodes had the couple speaking about the dramatic change that Meghan had to undergo in terms of her lifestyle in order to fit into the royal family. Markle recalled how she learned the realities of royal life after meeting Kate Middleton and Prince William.

"When Will and Kate came over and I had met her for the first time, they came over for dinner," Meghan said in the Netflix series that premiered on Thursday. "I remember I was in ripped jeans and barefoot."

"Like I was a hugger, always been a hugger," she added. "I didn't realise that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits."

"I guess I'd start to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside, carried through on the inside."

She continued referring to the multiple etiquette rules that the royal family follows on a daily basis. Meghan said she had mistakenly believed those were only observed in public.

"There is a forward-facing way of being and then you close the door and you relax now," she added and mentioned that she initially felt that members of the royal family would be more at ease in private but she was wrong, as etiquettes were followed even behind close doors.

"But that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me," she added.

"It's so funny if I look back at it now because now I know so much," she continued about her inside knowledge of royal life. "And I'm so glad I didn't then because I could just authentically be myself without so much preparedness."

Racism. Check. Blaming the media. check. Speaking in pronouns about the British royal family. Check. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new docu-series 'Harry & Meghan,' which had unsettled the British press and reportedly even the royal family with just a trailer, premiered the first three episodes on Netflix on Thursday. Considering the hype around the show, I'd hoped that the couple would perhaps go all out in narrating their story on why they decided to step away from the family (they kept calling it the institution throughout the show). But the first three episodes (each an hour long) did not offer anything new. The couple did not mention anything that we already didn't know about the British royal family or even the paparazzi culture in the UK.

At one point in the first episode, Meghan Markle says, “When the stakes were this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?” And what did we get to know from them? That they had a whirlwind romance that spanned over two continents, that they had first checked each other out on Instagram, and that they loved documenting their meets, dates, walks, and family time like most millennial couples do in the age of social media. Wow, such a big revelation!

The couple spoke in vague pronouns while mentioning the royal family and the media blurring the lines on who they were really putting the blame on. That British media and the royal family have had a love-hate relationship over decades is a known fact. Harry only reiterated it once again, recalling how his mother, the late Princess Diana had fallen prey to it and how he felt the need to protect his family from the same toxic behaviour.

Ironically, it is the same media that's helped the royal family to build an image and create a bridge with the public over the years carefully brushing past its horrifying colonising history. In an era where monarchy the world over is in redundancy, the curiosity and craze around the British royal family continue - primarily because it is fuelled by the media.

Unfortunately, Meghan and Harry have had a very public life- both individually and as a couple. Had Meghan not married Harry, she perhaps would have continued a career in showbusiness which again is aided to a great extent by the media. The two feed off each other.

There's no doubt that the press has been vile on many occasions towards Meghan Markle. Especially bringing unnecessary details about her dysfunctional family in the US, to public focus in the UK. When the couple made the hard decision to step out of the royal family to live a life away from the public eye, I, like many felt it was rather a brave move on their part, especially Harry's. A man who was a product of a broken marriage, but who was shielded by wealth, comfort, and royalty - Harry did take a brave step to move to the US, away from the shadows of his prominent family, attempting to create his own identity. But in the past two years, the only time Harry and Meghan have made headlines is when they have dragged or blamed the British royal family. They are feeding off their past glory, isn't it?

The couple has also had a rather public life post-Megxit. A deal with Netflix, a podcast, books and memoirs, and a life that cannot really be called private, Harry and Meghan are still very much part of the public discourse. So much for wanting privacy.

The three episodes also highlighted how Meghan, who is of mixed parentage, was made aware of her colour post-marriage by 'them'. Meghan pointed out how her colour was not a matter of concern for her until she married Harry. The couple had spoken about facing racism in the royal family during a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. Back then they had not specified who that member was who had raised concerns about their son, Archie's skin colour. A year down the line, when so much has been written about their accusations, they still steered clear of naming anyone. So how was this really an explosive docu-series?

Harry and Meghan also appeared tone deaf in the addressal of racism and discrimination. Harry comes from a family that had for centuries colonized half of the world. They may have redeemed themselves over the years with carefully curated images in the public eye but the fact of the matter is that the family still hasn't ever openly addressed the horrific past or the grievous mistakes the ancestors had made in so many of the countries. While the episodes do touch upon the family's colonising history, Brexit which made Britain even more secluded, and racial injustice, it never really had Harry talk about the stoic silence that the family maintained all throughout.

The hype around the docuseries also speaks a lot about the audience and the media which has for decades hyped up an establishment that needs to be completely redundant in modern times. Monarchy is dead and so should the interest in royal families. Maybe it is time to introspect- why can't we shrug off our own colonial past and ignore the royal family? I am all for cheering Harry and Meghan if they bring social change to society, but why is it needed to get into details of a family and its internal problems?

'Harry & Meghan' docuseries does not say anything that we already don't know

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be stripped of their princely titles if they continue to make allegations against the royal family, claims a palace source. This comes ahead of the release of the couple’s much-talked- about Netflix show.

Meghan Markle could lose her princess title, if the King wills. This could be modelled over how the late Queen asked the couple to stop using HRH (His or Her Royal Highness) titles. They were also asked not to use the word “royal” in any commercial branding.

The palace source was quoted, “Charles will be very cautious of repeating the mistakes made with Diana. When she was stripped of her HRH after the divorce, it fed into her narrative that the palace was a vindictive and cruel establishment. Imagine if they did something similar to Harry. Netflix series controversy: Meghan, Harry could lose princely status

It's been almost three years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their roles as senior members of the British royal family and settled in the US with their children, yet the controversy and drama around their exit continue to grab the headlines.

Their latest docu-series on Netflix, which was released on Netflix on Thursday is being touted as an explosive one and reports claim the show is bound to further the gap between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the royal family.

A former employee at Buckingham Palace has brewed up fresh controversy against the upcoming docu-series of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle.
As per The New York Post, the employee, who claimed to be bullied by Markle, reached out to the British monarchy to fire back at the allegations made in the upcoming docu-series, 'Harry & Meghan'.

In an interview with the Times, the employee said that the only way the allegations can be cleared is through the removal of restrictions in the non-disclosure agreements of the staff.

"The only way to end it once for good is for us to be allowed to speak, and for the palace to firmly reject their lies," The New York Post quoted the former employee. "It's emotionally draining. It feels like there`s no end to it," the employee added.

In the one-minute trailer for the docu-series released on Netflix, Prince Harry was heard saying, "There`s a hierarchy of the family....You know, there's leaking, but there's also planting of stories. No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth".

The former employee responded back saying, "They always use vague terms 'the truth,' 'my truth,' but nothing concrete is said."

The ex-staff added that Markle conveyed her side of stories through journalist Omid Scobie.

"She knows we can't financially protect ourselves by going to court, so she keeps pushing. It`s all a game for her. And she is loving it. I certainly have chosen to remain silent out of respect for the crown, but if they keep attacking us and our characters, reputation, et cetera, we need to feel we are equally supported by the royal family."

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle honoured in US for speaking about royal family racism

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix documentary has run into troubled waters even before its release. The trailer of the film was unveiled last week which had a shot of the couple being swamped by the paparazzi.

Recent reports claim that the shot of the paps was "fake". The shot shows dozens of cameramen packed together and reports state that it is actually taken from a Harry Potter premiere in London long before Harry and Meghan had even met each other.

The Sun's photographer Doug Seeburg was reportedly captured in the photo while attending the July 2011 premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 at Trafalgar Square. The photo was used before the Duke of Sussex said in the trailer, “I had to do everything I could to protect my family” in a voice-over.

Many have pointed out that it was a careless error from Netflix and stated that the image was found to be the first search result under “paparazzi” on the stock image site Alamy.

“I don’t imagine Harry would have realised, but Netflix have been careless here as it weakens Harry’s comment about protecting his family," author and royal expert Ingrid Seward said.

The Sun photographer recalled that “It was a huge event. Crowds and crowds of fans had turned out in the rain and camped overnight to see the actors. There were no members of the royal family there,” he said.

The news comes amid reports that state Prince William has vowed to hit back at any swipes that Harry and Meghan make in the documentary against the royal family.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's documentary runs into trouble as a shot of the paps turns out to be 'fake'

The first teaser for 'Harry & Meghan' is out. The Netflix documentary series delves deep into the relationship of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and their controversial decision to step back from their duties as royals. Directed by American documentarian Liz Garbus, the series will tell the story in six parts.

The teaser begins with someone, presumably Garbus, asking the question "Why did you want to make this documentary?" Candid images of Harry and Meghan vacationing and just chilling together flash on the screen as Harry responds, "No one's seen what's happened behind closed doors."

We see images of Meghan crying while holding a phone, she and Harry sitting discomfited behind Camilla Parker (now the Queen Consort), Prince William, the current heir to the throne, and Kate Middleton, the current Princess of Wales.

"I had to do everything I could, to protect my family," adds Harry. Visuals show the respective childhoods of both.

Meghan chimes in, "When the stakes were this high, doesn't it make sense to hear our story from us?" as though to point out virulent coverage of the events, particularly in the conservative British press.

If this documentary promises one thing apart from Harry and Meghan's side of the story, it's thoroughness. There have been documentaries before, but never from Harry and Meghan's perspective, and never a series.

'Harry & Meghan' does not have a release date yet.

Meghan Markle has so far hosted many A-listers on her podcast Archetypes, such as Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and more. But, very soon, the audience may see the most unexpected guest: Kate Middleton chatting with her sister-in-law Meghan on her famous Spotify podcast.

A new report claims that the Duchess of Sussex has also invited Princess of Wales Kate Middleton to appear in one episode of her podcast.

Meghan made the request when they visited London for the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth in September.

The new claims are coming from royal expert Neil Sean, who has shared some inside details on his YouTube channel, according to Yahoo Life.

"While Meghan was over here, staying in Windsor at their cottage, she put out a request to the Princess of Wales, according to that good source, to appear on a forthcoming episode of Archetypes," Sean has revealed on his YouTube channel.

"It kind of makes sense if you think about it. In Meghan's opinion, this is because she based it on the idea of two Duchesses, as they were at the time, and of course talking about how difficult it is to run a family, work-life balance, and work balance," he continued, before adding that Kate's appearance would definitely help the podcast ratings.

"We're not quite sure how this was relayed to the beautiful Princess of Wales, but according to Meghan, she felt they were progressing," Sean continued.

Sean went on to say that the podcast team is still waiting for a response.

Putting all their differences aside, Meghan has hinted several times in her interviews that she's ready to move forward and is willing to forgive.

Kate Middleton and Prince William will go on a US tour in December, and that would be the perfect time for Kate to fit in for the podcast.

Kate Middleton may appear on Meghan Markle's 'Archetypes' podcast: Report

‘The Crown’ actress Olivia Williams believes racism is the main issue behind Meghan Markle’s criticism in the UK. The actress plays Camilla Parker Bowles in the recently released fifth season of ‘The Crown’.

When asked if the criticism her character faced during the early days of her relationship with Prince Charles was shifted towards Meghan Markle in today’s times, she said the criticism is more rooted in racism than any other thing.

“My husband’s African-American — I can’t overlook the race issue. Somewhere in the souls of the people who despise Meghan, I’m afraid I think that’s an issue," Williams said. She is married to Rhashan Stone for 20 years now. Dua Lipa rubbishes rumours of being a part of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

She added, “When you’re an actor, the studio looks after you and it’s in their interests to keep you safe, but that’s not how it works [in the royal family]. They’re looking after the Crown. They’re not looking after you.”

Meanwhile, on her role, Olivia Williams studied photos and videos of Camilla Parker Bowles from the past when she “always looks startled and angry and miserable." She hoped to channel "that isolation and loneliness, the realisation that someone’s sitting in a bush taking photographs."

The one question that is looming around for a long time is when Meghan Markle is going to make her political debut. Ever since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have left their royal life, the couple are quite involved in social causes, whether, it's girl education, mental health or raising their voice for issues that require government attention.

Recently, Meghan voted in the US midterm election and also wrote an open letter as part of her campaign for paid parental leave in the US. Amid all, a recent report published by Express UK claimed that Meghan is a top choice of Democrats and is also one of the personalities, the public wants to see in the House of Representatives.

But as per a royal expert, Meghan's road to a political career will not be as easy as it seems. Commenting on her political career, a royal expert, Kinsey Schofield, said that she doesn't believe the Duchess would get very far after finding herself "rejected" by large parts of the US and may even struggle to secure a pathway into a political career.

"Meghan has done an incredible job alienating a large portion of the country by exposing her political allies. The United States is toxic when it comes to politics and communication,'' Kinsey says.

"Few are invested in the monarchy, and all were eager to envelop the Sussexes with open arms, However, the second Meghan started appearing on panels with Stacey Abrams, Hillary Clinton, and Kamala Harris, she found herself rejected by half of the country,” the royal expert adds.

In the exclusive polling for Express.co.uk conducted by the Washington-based Democracy Institute, they found out that more than 60 per cent of respondents felt that the party should opt for a female candidate in the next presidential election in two years. And, surprisingly Meghan topped the list of potential runners.

Meghan has been quite outspoken on several public matters; she has even been spotted with various high-profile Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and President Biden's family, among others.

Commenting on Meghan's appearance with key political figures and how it would effect her political career, Schofield said that, PR-wise appearing with key political figures was a "huge fail" for the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan Markle's road to politics will not be as easy as it seems, royal expert claims

Several media reports seem to suggest that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had an agreement of sorts to keep their roles away from the final season of 'The Crown'.

The show's season 5 is set to premiere later this month on the OTT platform and will talk of tumultuous marriage and subsequent divorce of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana.

The upcoming series of 'The Crown' has been criticized for its dramatization of real-life events, but Meghan and Harry have reportedly chosen to still work with Netflix to produce their series.

Markle confirmed earlier that a series was in the making after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were spotted on several occasions with film crews in tow. The two will be part of a docuseries that will reportedly tell their side of the story.

However, royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti spoke to a news daily about the arrangement between the OTT platform and the couple and said, "I do wonder if one of the reasons that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven't taken a firm stand with Netflix by refusing to make their series is it didn't change that sort of approach towards 'The Crown.'

"I wonder if it might be some sort of arranged deal, spoken or unspoken that they have that will see them left alone in the crown if they provide their version of their story."

Meanwhile, the creator of 'The Crown' - Peter Morgan- has confirmed series will end with season six which will be set in the early 2000s. It is not yet clear which incidents of the family would be included in the final season.

Mr Sacerdoti added that Meghan and Harry will therefore be able to "complete their extra piece of the jigsaw puzzle" with their own series of events.

He said, "I certainly think it would be undesirable for Meghan and Harry to have recent events described in The Crown, I know producers said they aren't keen to go right up to the present day, but maybe that's why they are so keen on this Netflix series, it might complete their extra piece of the jigsaw puzzle in them telling their story."

Meghan Markle-Prince Harry to be left out of 'The Crown' due to a Netflix deal: Reports

It's official now. Prince Harry's tell-all memoir titled'Spare' will hit the stands in January 2023. Published by Penguin Random House, the book will release on January 10, 2023. The memoir is reportedly the first book in the multi-book deal that Harry has signed with the publishing house. It was initially scheduled to release in late 2022 but was pushed due to Queen Elizabeth II's death in September.

Insiders within the book industry have stated that the prince, reportedly, got cold feet about the contents of the memoir 'at various points' during the process of writing the book.

The details of Harry's memoir will only be known in January 2023 but it is expected that the Prince will give his point of view on stepping away from royal duties and moving to the US with his wife Meghan Markle and children. The family moved to California in early 2021.

Harry isn't the first member of the royal family to have written a memoir. His mother, the late Princess Diana, his father, King Charles III, his aunt Sarah Ferguson have all written about living a life in the public eye.

When Penguin Random House announced the memoir in 2021, the company described it as "an intimate and heartfelt" piece by Harry that would be "the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses and life lessons that have helped shape him."

"I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become," Harry said in a statement at the time. He added that he was intending to give a "firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful."

A portion of the sales from the book will be donated to charity, although Harry has not specified which organization would be given the money to. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex founded the Archewell Foundation shortly after departing from their royal responsibilities in 2021.
