Half of the British public believes that the Duke of Sussex stripped off his royal title following the release of his Netflix documentary with Meghan Markle, according to a recent poll. 44% of the responders that Prince Harry should have his title removed while 32% say otherwise.

In the article for The Sun last week, Clarkson wrote that he "hated" Meghan and dreamed of the day "when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, 'Shame!' and throw lumps of excrement at her".

A record number of complaints against the column -- more than 20,000 -- was made to the UK Independent Press Standards Organisation (Ipso) and many high-profile figures criticised the piece, including author Philip Pullman and London Mayor Sadiq Khan.

The article had been written in response to the couple's recent Netflix docuseries 'Harry &amp; Meghan'&nbsp;but has since been removed from the newspaper's website.

"We at The Sun regret the publication of this article and we are sincerely sorry," The Sun said in a statement on its website.

It added the article would also be removed from its archives.

The Sun had already removed the article on Monday from its website at the request of Clarkson who said on Twitter he made "a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people".

He added: "I'm horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future."

In one of the most famous scenes in Game of Thrones, a female character makes a "walk of shame" where she is forced to walk down the streets naked as people throw rubbish at her.

"Columnists' opinions are their own, but as a publisher, we realise that with free expression comes responsibility," The Sun said.

In the Netflix documentary, Harry and Meghan accuse the voracious UK tabloid press of racism, of trying to "destroy" her and of contributing to her miscarriage through a targeted campaign fuelled by palace briefings.

In three hour-long episodes released Thursday, Harry claimed William screamed at him during a family meeting and accused palace officials of lying to protect his elder sibling, who is now heir to the throne. Meghan talked about wanting to end her life as she struggled to cope with toxic press coverage.

Harry, a grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth II, married U.S. actress Meghan Markle in a fairy-tale wedding at Windsor Castle in 2018. Less than two years later the couple left Britain, citing what they saw as the media’s racist treatment of Meghan and a lack of support from the palace.

“It was terrifying to have my brother scream and shout at me and my father say things that just simply weren’t true. And my grandmother, you know, quietly sit there and take it all in,” Harry said.

He also accused royal communications officials of “leaking” and “planting” stories in the media, claiming staff would seek to deflect negative coverage of one royal by issuing a story about another member of the family.

Meghan, 41, revealed she thought about killing herself amid a torrent of negative media coverage before the couple decided to make a break with the royal household.

“It was like ‘All of this will stop if I am not here,’” she said.

There were no dissenting views in the documentary, which included interviews with the couple and supportive friends and commentators.

Royal expert Pauline Maclarnan, author of “Royal Fever: The British Monarchy in Consumer Culture,” said the relationship between William and Harry would be “very hard to repair” after the bombshell claims.

“This does seem to be very final,” she said.

Hours after the final episodes were released, senior royals put on a show of unity, attending a Christmas charity concert in London on Thursday evening. William, his wife Kate and their two elder children, George and Charlotte, were joined at the Westminster Abbey carol concert by King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla and other family members.

While the Netlfix series has soured the couple’s relationship with the royal family — perhaps irreparably — Maclarnan said it would likely help the couple forge their new careers as U.S.-based charity campaigners and media personalities.

“I think it will have built their brand quite well,” she said. “I think a lot of people will see their perspective more, but particularly (the) younger generation. And I think really that’s where they’ve always aimed anyway.”

Christmas is just around the corner and getting into the joyful spirit, Harry and Meghan have released their 2022 holiday card. 
 
The card featured a black-and-white picture of the Duke and Duchess of Success clicked at the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award Gala in New York City. At the event, Meghan stepped out wearing an off-shoulder white body-hugging dress, while Harry was wearing a black formal suit. 
 
Along with the photo, the card reads:

Harry made the comments in the final episodes of the six-part docuseries, which aired on Netflix on Thursday.&nbsp;

Episodes four, five, and six highlighted the couple's wedding, gave a glimpse at their reception, and spoke of Meghan's deteriorating mental health and her 2020 miscarriage, and ultimately their decision to quit as working members of the family. 
 
In the final episode, Meghan opened up about the miscarriage she suffered from in July 2020. She cited key stressors in her life at the time, including moving into their new home in Santa Barbara, California, issues with her father, and unrelenting media coverage.

As Meghan Markle hints about her moments of self-harm citing what she was going through while she and Harry were pregnant with their first child, the documentary appears to be moving on to the path of addressing some&nbsp;tough questions: exploitation, racism, subjugation and generational trauma associated with all of these.&nbsp;

In the next frame, with an overlaying drone shot of Buckingham Palace, a former worshipping place of slavery, Harry says, "I feel as though being part of this family, it is my duty to uncover this exploitation..." There is a brief pause in Harry's speech at 'exploitation'.&nbsp;

If Harry's failure to address, if not apologise, for Britain's colonial crimes was another leaf off the book of royal ignorance for the roots of their royalty, Meghan's failure to address the same represents a moment in history when generational trauma about colonial exploits is being brushed under the carpet.&nbsp;

Meghan said that during the time she played Rachel Zane in NBC's 'Suits', she would visit India in hiatus. "I was writing op-eds about&nbsp;self-worth and about being biracial and volunteer work." Doesn't being biracial consist of a fundamental understanding of generational subjugation by colonialism?&nbsp;

To societies where an individual's self worth is derived as much personally as it is from family members and generations before them, Meghan Markle's&nbsp;depiction of self-worth alongside an intentional ignorance of colonialism represents a revelatory moment of disappointment in today's hyper-connected world.

The holiday season is here! King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla released their official Christmas card recently. This is their first official card as the head of state.&nbsp;

The card features a photo of the King and Queen Consort during the annual Braemar Highland Gathering at Princess Royal &amp; Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Scotland.

"We’re pleased to share this year’s Christmas Card from The King and The Queen Consort," the family shared on Twitter.

Longtime royal photographer Samir Hussein was credited for taking the photograph which was "taken at the Braemar Games in September 2022."

Sticking to traditions, the candid snap was embossed in red ink and accompanied by a short and sweet message from the couple.&nbsp;

Printed on the opposite page was the text that said, "Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year."

The Braemar Games is over 1,000 years old and traditionally host thousands of people to watch athletic events, bagpipe competitions and dancing, with Her Majesty presiding over the festival. Netflix docu-series 'Harry &amp; Meghan' premiered on Thursday after weeks of speculations on how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's story would affect the British royal family. The OTT platform dropped the first three episodes of the series which mostly highlighted the early life of Harry and Meghan, their growing up years, and how they met.&nbsp; 
 
The episodes had the couple speaking about the dramatic change that Meghan had to undergo in terms of her lifestyle in order to fit into the royal family. Markle recalled how she learned the realities of royal life after meeting Kate Middleton and Prince William.&nbsp; 
 
"When Will and Kate came over and I had met her for the first time, they came over for dinner," Meghan said in the Netflix series that premiered on Thursday. "I remember I was in ripped jeans and barefoot." 
 
"Like I was a hugger, always been a hugger," she added. "I didn't realise that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits." 
 
"I guess I'd start to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside, carried through on the inside."

She continued referring to the multiple etiquette rules that the royal family follows on a daily basis. Meghan said she had mistakenly believed those were only observed in public.

"There is a forward-facing way of being and then you close the door and you relax now," she added and mentioned that she initially felt that members of the royal family would be more at ease in private but she was wrong, as etiquettes were followed even behind close doors.&nbsp;

"But that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me," she added.&nbsp;

"It's so funny if I look back at it now because now I know so much," she continued about her inside knowledge of royal life. "And I'm so glad I didn't then because I could just authentically be myself without so much preparedness."

The couple did not mention anything that we already didn't know about the British royal family or even the paparazzi culture in the UK.

At one point in the first episode, Meghan Markle says, “When the stakes were this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?” And what did we get to know from them? That they had a whirlwind romance that spanned over two continents, that they had first checked each other out on Instagram, and that they loved documenting their meets, dates, walks, and family time like most millennial couples do in the age of social media. Wow, such a big revelation!

The couple spoke in vague pronouns while mentioning the royal family and the media blurring the lines on who they were really putting the blame on. That British media and the royal family have had a love-hate relationship over decades is a known fact. Harry only reiterated it once again, recalling how his mother, the late Princess Diana had fallen prey to it and how he felt the need to protect his family from the same toxic behaviour.

Ironically, it is the same media that's helped the royal family to build an image and create a bridge with the public over the years carefully brushing past its horrifying colonising history. In an era where monarchy the world over is in redundancy, the curiosity and craze around the British royal family continue - primarily because it is fuelled by the media.

Unfortunately, Meghan and Harry have had a very public life- both individually and as a couple. Had Meghan not married Harry, she perhaps would have continued a career in showbusiness which again is aided to a great extent by the media. The two feed off each other.

There's no doubt that the press has been vile on many occasions towards Meghan Markle. Especially bringing unnecessary details about her dysfunctional family in the US, to public focus in the UK. When the couple made the hard decision to step out of the royal family to live a life away from the public eye, I, like many felt it was rather a brave move on their part, especially Harry's. A man who was a product of a broken marriage, but who was shielded by wealth, comfort, and royalty - Harry did take a brave step to move to the US, away from the shadows of his prominent family, attempting to create his own identity. But in the past two years, the only time Harry and Meghan have made headlines is when they have dragged or blamed the British royal family. They are feeding off their past glory, isn't it?

The couple has also had a rather public life post-Megxit. A deal with Netflix, a podcast, books and memoirs, and a life that cannot really be called private, Harry and Meghan are still very much part of the public discourse. So much for wanting privacy.

Meghan pointed out how her colour was not a matter of concern for her until she married Harry. The couple had spoken about facing racism in the royal family during a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. Back then they had not specified who that member was who had raised concerns about their son, Archie's skin colour. A year down the line, when so much has been written about their accusations, they still steered clear of naming anyone. So how was this really an explosive docu-series?

Harry and Meghan also appeared tone deaf in the addressal of racism and discrimination. Harry comes from a family that had for centuries colonized half of the world. They may have redeemed themselves over the years with carefully curated images in the public eye but the fact of the matter is that the family still hasn't ever openly addressed the horrific past or the grievous mistakes the ancestors had made in so many of the countries. While the episodes do touch upon the family's colonising history, Brexit which made Britain even more secluded, and racial injustice, it never really had Harry talk about the stoic silence that the family maintained all throughout.

The hype around the docuseries also speaks a lot about the audience and the media which has for decades hyped up an establishment that needs to be completely redundant in modern times. Monarchy is dead and so should the interest in royal families. Maybe it is time to introspect- why can't we shrug off our own colonial past and ignore the royal family? I am all for cheering Harry and Meghan if they bring social change to society, but why is it needed to get into details of a family and its internal problems?&nbsp;

"The only way to end it once for good is for us to be allowed to speak, and for the palace to firmly reject their lies," The New York Post quoted the former employee.&nbsp;"It's emotionally draining. It feels like there`s no end to it," the employee added. 
 
In the one-minute trailer for the docu-series released on Netflix, Prince Harry was heard saying, "There`s a hierarchy of the family....You know, there's leaking, but there's also planting of stories. No one knows the full truth. We know the full truth". 
 
The former employee responded back saying, "They always use vague terms 'the truth,' 'my truth,' but nothing concrete is said."&nbsp; 
 
The ex-staff added that Markle conveyed her side of stories through journalist Omid Scobie. 
 
"She knows we can't financially protect ourselves by going to court, so she keeps pushing. It`s all a game for her. And she is loving it. I certainly have chosen to remain silent out of respect for the crown, but if they keep attacking us and our characters, reputation, et cetera, we need to feel we are equally supported by the royal family."&nbsp;

The report further mentioned that the couple was apparently baffled after hearing about the decision as royal officials insisted that they do not attend the event.
