Indian and International cricketing stars will be playing cricket in the Valley after almost half a century during the final leg of the Legends League Cricket. <p>Srinagar would be hosting over 100 international cricket stars in October for the Legends League Cricket. Cricketers like Mohammad Kaif, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Ross Taylor, lan Bell, and&nbsp;others will be live in action in Kashmir for the first time ever. Seven matches, including the final, will be played between October 9 and October 16 at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>''It was decided last year that we will be coming to Srinagar. It was after the response we got in Jammu, and we got a lot of queries about why not in Kashmir. So, we decided to come here this year. Srinagar is getting the best by all six teams coming at the same time to play the last seven matches, including the final. It's very inspiring for the youngsters, seeing their heroes working hard on the field will be great for them. We chose the stadium which has the maximum capacity, as we wanted most of the people to come and watch it live,'' said Raman Raheja, Co-Founder, Legends League Cricket.</p>

<p>It will also be the first opportunity for the youngsters of the valley to come to the stadium and watch live cricket action for the first time in 40 years. Hosting International Cricket matches in Srinagar will also provide a unique opportunity for the cricketers to experience Kashmir Valley. This will not only give a boost to the cricket enthusiasts of the Valley but also create a platform for the young to get inspired to take cricket as their career.&nbsp;</p>

International cricket returns to J&K, over 100 cricketing stars to play in Srinagar for Legends League Cricket

<p>Former India batter Shikhar Dhawan, days after announcing his retirement, has informed that he's joining Leagues League Cricket (LLC). It is a tournament played by retired players all around the world for their respective countries. Apart from India, Pakistan, Australia, England and West Indies are also part of it.</p>

<p>"My body is still conditioned for the demands of the game, and while I'm at ease with my decision, cricket is an inseparable part of who I am, it will never go out of me. I am eager to regroup with my cricketing friends and continue to entertain my fans as we create new memories together," said Dhawan in a statement.</p>

<p>Dhawan, 38, announced his retirement on August 24 via a video message. Dhawan played in a total of 269 international matches for India, scoring 10,867 runs.</p>

<p>“I always had one goal in mind that was to play for India and I achieved it thanks to a lot of people. First of all my family, my childhood coach Tarak Sinha and Madan Sharma, under their guidance, I learnt cricket. Then my entire team with whom I played for years, got another family, fame and everyone’s love and support. As it’s said that to move ahead in the story you need to flip over the pages. Hence, I’m also doing that, I’m announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket," said Dhawan in the video.</p>

<p>Known for his attacking style of play upfront, Dhawan made his ODI and Test debuts against Australia. Though he got out early on his One-Day debut, Dhawan slammed a brilliant 187 on his Test debut in Mohali – a then highest-score by an Indian.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Besides, Dhawan is also the only Indian batter to score a hundred in his 100th ODI match, scoring 109 against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2018.&nbsp;</p>

The incident took place during the second over of the match when Gambhir smacked the pacer for a six and a four.&nbsp;After the next ball was hit to the fielder for no run, tempers flared between the duo.</p>

<p>After the match, Sreesanth shared a video that went viral on social media&nbsp;where he dwelled into the whole face-off&nbsp;and levied some serious allegations against Gambhir. It is to be noted that Sreesanth did not reveal the exact details of the 'rude' things Gambhir said, however, he has promised&nbsp;to reveal them soon. The second edition of the cricket league will feature retired players. Defending champions India Capitals clashed with previous-year finalists Bhilwara Kings in the opening match at JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The tournament will follow a T20 format. LLC matches will happen between Saturday (Nov 18) and Saturday (Dec 9) across five cities: Dehradun, Ranchi, Jammu, Vishakhapatnam, and Surat. There will be 19 matches, including qualifiers, knockouts, and the final.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Besides the four teams which participated last year, Indian Capitals, Bhilwara Kings, Manipal Tigers, and Gujarat Giants, two new franchises, Urabanisers Hyderabad and Southern Super Stars, have also joined the fray.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Afridi, who has been vocal about issues related to Kashmir in particular in the past, has said if India comes over to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup, it will not only improve the cricketing ties but will also work as a step towards bettering political relations between both countries. <p>While almost every team barring India, has travelled to Pakistan over the past few years, that too for full-fledged series, Afridi feels there are no security concerns and that the Asia Cup should go ahead as scheduled.</p>

<p>"As far as the security concern in Pakistan is concerned, we had many international teams travelling here recently. We used to face security threats from India as well, but if permission is received from the government of both countries then the tour will happen. If the tour doesn't happen, we will give those people a chance. All they want is that there should be no cricket between them," Afridi further said.</p>

<p>India last toured Pakistan during the 2008 Asia Cup and in 2006 for the bilateral series. Although both last faced in a bilateral series in India in 2012/2013, since then have just squared off in ICC events only.</p>

<p>Former India player Mohammad Kaif, on Saturday, took not one but two stunning catches for India Maharajas in the Legends League Eliminator match against Asia Lions. Kaif, who was known as one of the most athletic fielders in the world during his playing days, showed same agility and suppleness during the match.</p>

<p>The first one was of Upul Thranaga in the eighth over of the match off Pragyan Ojha's bowling. Kaif dived to his right to pluck a blinder out of thin air to dismiss Tharanga.</p>

<p>For the second catch, Kaif came in running and dived to send Mohammad Hafeez packing off Pravin Tambe in the 16th over of the inning. Here's the video for both the catches:</p>

<p>Talking about the match, India Maharajas eventually lost the match by 85 runs and got eliminated from the three-team event. Chasing a target of 192, Maharajas could manage only 106 as they were bowled out under 17 overs.</p>

<p>Gambhir and Uthappa, however, gave Maharajas a good start as the duo added 47 runs for the first wicket in just 4.2 overs. The innings faltered after that as wickets at regular intervals just sucked the momentum out of the chase.</p>

<p>For Maharajas, Gambhir top scored with 32 off 17 while Suresh Raina was the next best with 18 off 29 balls. For Asia Lions, Sohail Tanvir, Abdur Razzak, and Mohammad Hafeez took two wickets each.</p>

<p>Earlier, Asia Lions won the toss and elected to bat first. Lions openers Upul Tharanga and Tilkaratne Dilshan got them off to a flyer as they added 83 for the first wicket in about nine overs. Tharanga was the first wicket to fall after scoring his 50. Apart from him, Mohammad Hafeez and Asghar Afghan scored 38 and 34 runs, respectively.</p>

<p>For Maharajas, Stuart Binny and Pragyan Ojha took two wickets each. The final of Legends League will be played between World Giants and Asia Lions on March 20.</p>

<p>The Maharajas, however, lost the match by nine-runs. Batting first after winning the toss, Lions put on 165/6 in 20 overs, thanks to&nbsp;Upul Tharanga's 39-ball 40 runs and Misbah-ul-Haq's 50-ball 73. Stuart Binny and Parwinder Awana took two wickets each for India Maharajas.</p>

<p>During the chase, the Maharajas coped an early blow as they lost Robin Uthappa in the first over itself. <p>It was a nostalgic affair as cricket fans got to witness some of the yesteryear greats ply their trade on the field once again in the ongoing inaugural edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). The tournament which features some of the best cricketers from the bygone era kicked off at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman on Thursday.</p>

<p>India Maharajas locked horns with Asian Lions in the opening game of the tournaments. While the India Maharajas team consists of some of the Indian greats like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, RP Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Irfan Pathan among others, the Asia Lions squad has legends from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.</p>

<p>As the two teams met on Thursday, the battler between former India batter Mohammad Kaif and former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar stole the show. The old foes came up against each other once again and Akhtar was once again left a little annoyed as Kaif chose to walk down the track while facing him.</p>

<p>Akhtar, who was regarded as one of the fiercest bowlers of his time, still holds the record for bowling the fastest delivery in international cricket. Famously known as the Rawalpindi Express, Akhtar used to trouble the best of batters with his sheer pace during his playing days.</p>

<p>However, Kaif was one of those batters who shared to charge down against Akhtar while batting. Kaif did the same while facing Akhtar in the Legends League Cricket game on Thursday and was seen trying to walk out against the former Pakistan pacer. Akhtar, who had previously stated he never liked Kaif's approach of walking out while batting against him, once again expressed his displeasure jokingly.</p>

<p>Post the conclusion of the game, Akhtar said he felt like punching Kaif after seeing him walk out against him once again.&nbsp;“He is walking towards me again. I just feel like punching him,” Akhtar said in a post-match interview as he burst into laughter.</p>

<p>“I have told him [Kaif] many-a-times on television to not walk on him but he did it again,” he added.</p>

India Maharajas locked horns with Asian Lions in the opening game of the tournaments. While the India Maharajas team consists of some of the Indian greats like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, RP Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Irfan Pathan among others, the Asia Lions squad has legends from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. As the two teams met on Thursday, the battler between former India batter Mohammad Kaif and former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar stole the show. The old foes came up against each other once again and Akhtar was once again left a little annoyed as Kaif chose to walk down the track while facing him. Akhtar, who was regarded as one of the fiercest bowlers of his time, still holds the record for bowling the fastest delivery in international cricket. Famously known as the Rawalpindi Express, Akhtar used to trouble the best of batters with his sheer pace during his playing days. However, Kaif was one of those batters who shared to charge down against Akhtar while batting. Kaif did the same while facing Akhtar in the Legends League Cricket game on Thursday and was seen trying to walk out against the former Pakistan pacer. Akhtar, who had previously stated he never liked Kaif's approach of walking out while batting against him, once again expressed his displeasure jokingly.
