After two days of drama and action, the IPL media rights auction has finally come to a fitting end with a huge inflow of money&nbsp;for the BCCI. The television rights for the Indian subcontinent have been secured by Disney Star for a whopping INR 23,575 crore (INR 235.75 billion)&nbsp;whereas the digital rights -- for the same region -- have gone to Viacom18 for INR 20,500 crore (INR 205 billion). Thus, there will be two broadcasters for IPL for the next five years, from 2023 to 2027.

Package C, a special set of 98 matches for a&nbsp;five-year period,&nbsp;resumed the third day's auction on&nbsp;Tuesday (June 14). It was also fetched by Viacom18 for INR 3,273&nbsp;crore (INR 32.73 billion)&nbsp;-- giving it the rights for 18 exclusive IPL games, including the tournament-opener, final,&nbsp;and&nbsp;evening games during the weekends. Lastly, Package D -- which concluded the entire proceedings -- went for INR 1,058 crore (INR 10.58 billion) with Viacom18 and Times Internet securing the rights.

When the opening day of the media rights auction commenced, on Sunday (June 12), it was revealed that IPL is now the second most lucrative sports league&nbsp;worldwide after the NFL. What started as a tournament with a lot of certainties riding on it, the IPL has come a long way since its inception in 2008.&nbsp;

Thus, BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly also recently expressed his happiness seeing IPL's remarkable rise and said while speaking at the India Leadership Council event, "I've seen the game evolve, where players like me earned a few hundreds and now have the potential of earning crores. This game is run by the fans, by the people of this country, and by the BCCI, which was formed by cricket fans. This sport is strong and will continue to evolve. The IPL generates more revenue than the English Premier League. It makes me feel happy and proud that the sport I love has evolved to become so strong."

IPL media rights auction: Disney Star, Viacom18 among winners as BCCI earns UNIMAGINABLE amount

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to scale new heights in the upcoming days as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expecting an intense bidding war between some of the biggest broadcasting and digital giants across the globe to battle it out for the IPL media rights for the 2023-27 cycle. The BCCI expects a huge cash influx as the media rights for the world's biggest T20 league is up for grabs at the ongoing e-auction.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah is optimistic about the IPL growing into a bigger brand and leapfrogging the likes of the English Premier League (EPL) and Major League Baseball (MLB) to become the second-most lucrative sporting league in the world behind only the National Football League (NFL) after the conclusion of the IPL&nbsp;media rights e-auction which got underway on Sunday (June 12).

IPL currently ranks as the fourth biggest sporting league in the world in terms of "per match broadcasting fees" behind NFL, EPL and the Major League Baseball. However, Shah expects the cash-rich T20 league to jump to the second spot after the IPL media rights auction for the 2023-27 cycle.

Shah revealed IPL was earning $9 million per match in the last five-year cycle with Disney Star securing the media rights of the tournament from 2018 to 2022. However, the BCCI secretary claimed the valuation will now jump to at least $12 million per game even if the rights are sold at the base price that has been set by the BCCI.

“At present, a National Football League game costs a broadcaster about $17 million, which is the highest for any sports league. That’s followed by the English Premier League, at $11 million and the Major League Baseball figure, too, is roughly the same. In the last five-year cycle, we got $9 million from one IPL game. This time, going by the present minimum base price that we have set, BCCI will get paid $12 million per IPL match. That’s a giant leap for Indian cricket on the world stage. We will be just behind NFL,” Shah was quoted as saying by The Indian Express in an interview.

Star had bought the IPL rights for the 2018-22 cycle for a sum of around USD 3 billion back then. However, the BCCI is expecting the amount to double this time around with a number of major contenders in the fray. The likes of Zee, Reliance, Sony, Star and SuperSport among others will be locking horns to secure the TV and the digital rights of the IPL for the next five-year cycle.

Amazon were also in the race to secure the digital rights of the tournament but ended up pulling out at the last moment. However, despite Amazon throwing in the towel, BCCI remains bullish on the media rights and expects the bidding war to cross the&nbsp;&nbsp;$7 billion mark.

The media rights have been divided into four separate packages - A, B, C and D. While package A consists of the television rights for the Indian subcontinent, package B consists of the digital rights for the Indian subcontinent. Package C is a bouquet of special matches while D consists of overseas TV and digital rights.

Explaining the idea behind introducing package C - which consists of weekend games and playoff matches, Shah said the BCCI wanted to increase the number of broadcasting partners this time around in order to also help cricket expand its reach.

“If we had done this conventionally, we would have only a limited number of participants. We introduced Package C because we wanted many players to participate in the tendering process. This helps cricket grow, we need to expand the game and this will help. If more players are in the fray, it will be good for the game,” Shah told the Indian Express. “They have seven broadcasting partners, we are looking at just three or four," he added citing NFL's example.

While players, support staff, commentators and organisers have been lauded, the Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI have won hearts by rewarding the 'unsung heroes', i.e. the groundsmen and curators for their overall efforts in ensuring the best quality of grounds and pitches were prepared for the players.

BCCI announces whopping cash prize for 'unsung heroes' groundsmen & curators after IPL 2022's success

Post the IPL 2022 edition, which is set to end on Sunday (May 29), the cricketing action will continue for the Indian players as a second-stringed Indian team will shift their focus to hosting South Africa in a five-match T20I series at home, starting on June 09.

Ahead of the series, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that there will be no bio-bubble for the forthcoming T20Is. However, the players will continue to undergo Covid tests. “If I’m not wrong, the bio-bubble for IPL-2022 was the last. For the India-SA series onwards, players will be tested (for covid), but will not be any bio-bubble,” Shah told Times of India in an interaction.

Shah further pointed out&nbsp;that BCCI created bio-bubbles for the 15th season of the IPL which allowed family members to be with players and helped in creating an environment that players enjoyed. “Yes, it’s tough for the players. However, they got a family-like atmosphere inside the hotel bio-bubble. In the case of the IPL, we had hotels dedicated to each team. The whole tournament was held at one place."

“All the teams had their lounges, and recreational centres (to relax and unwind). So, they also enjoyed it,” added the senior BCCI official.

For the unversed, the regular captain Rohit Sharma, former skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Jasprit Bumrah will miss the SA series as the trio have been rested. India vs SA, T20Is: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirms no bio-bubble for home series vs Proteas

BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly had revealed that his former teammate and Test specialist VVS Laxman was eager to be India's head coach when Ravi Shastri's tenure was set to end in late 2021. However, the position went to Laxman's good friend Rahul Dravid.

Nonetheless, Laxman -- who is now serving as the National Cricket Academy (NCA) -- is set to take charge of India's T20I squad for the upcoming two-match series versus hosts Ireland. The former middle-order batter will fill in for Dravid, who will be with the Indian Test line-up ahead of their fifth and final match versus England in the United Kingdom, set to be held on July 01.

<section itemprop="articleBody">
"He will travel with the Indian team to Dublin" said Jay Shah, the BCCI Secretary, confirming that Laxman will take charge&nbsp;in the absence of&nbsp;Dravid.&nbsp;

The arrangement is similar to the one Team India had last year. During India's tour of the United Kingdom, after&nbsp;the WTC final and prior to the&nbsp;five Tests versus then Joe Root-led England, regular coach Shastri was with Virat Kohli-starrer red-ball team whereas Dravid had stepped in as the stand-in coach of the white-ball side who had travelled to Sri Lanka for three ODIs and T20Is each.

This will be Laxman's first-ever assignment in a coaching role for the senior men's team. Earlier this year, he was a part of the backroom staff of the India U-19 team that lifted the trophy in the Caribbean island, beating England in the final.

The squad for the Ireland T20Is is yet to be announced by the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee.

"He will travel with the Indian team to Dublin" said Jay Shah, the BCCI Secretary, confirming that Laxman will take charge in the absence of Dravid. Situation of hosting Asia Cup in Sri Lanka will be assessed on final day of IPL, reveals Jay Shah

The ICC board on Sunday convinced its chairman Gregor Barclay to complete his term till end of October before the global body starts its nomination process to find a new chairman where the Indian cricket board could play a massive role.

In another significant development, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja's proposal for a four-nation tournament has been unanimously rejected by the board, putting an end to speculations of multiple India versus Pakistan matches on neural venues.

The other notable development was BCCI secretary Jay Shah being inducted into the ICC cricket committee.

The two-day board meeting which concluded in Dubai on Sunday was a win-win one for the Indian cricket board as Barclay's continuation till October gives it ample time to strategise whether it will field a candidate for the top post in the month of November.

"There has been no discussion on renomination of Barclay. But he will finish his current two year term as a chairman till end of October. So the process of nominating a new chairman only starts in November," an ICC Board member told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Originally, there was a possibility that the renomination or nomination would have happened in the month of June but that changed after deliberations between the member boards.

The decision also helps the BCCI buy time as they are likely to have their AGM in September after which the composition of the national parent body will be clear.

The BCCI has already appealed, seeking a a few changes in the Lodha Constitution which many feel till date is practically non-implementable.

It will be interesting to see whether president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah go for a cooling-off in September.

Shah's name is doing the rounds as the next chairman of ICC but there has been no confirmation from either the BCCI secretary himself or sources close to him about his apparent interest in throwing his hat in the ring.

Ramiz's proposal shot down by board

PCB chairman Ramiz Raja's ambitious proposal of conducting a four-nation tourney comprising India, Australia, England under the aegis of the ICC was unanimously rejected by the all-powerful board even though there was a projected revenue of USD 750 million for five years.

"In any case, ICC's Financial and Commercial Affairs Committee (F&amp;CA) was against this proposal. As we know that the MPA (Members Participation Agreement) doesn't allow any member nation to host more than tri-nation, organizing four-nation every year would have in any case devalued ICC's own marquee events," a board member said.

Another sensitive issue which board members are talking in hushed tones is whether Raja will remain PCB chairman for long after Imran Khan was removed from Prime Minister's position.

PCB chairman is a political appointee as Pakistan PMs are always Patron-in-chief of the board. Hence Raja, an appointee of Imran Khan, might be forced to tender his resignation in current political climate.

The BCCI was always clear in its stand that it won't play four-nations with its calender choc-a-bloc and a lot of bilateral commitments that need to be honoured. On top of that is player's workload and mental health.

There were reports that ECB's Tom Harrison was also independently interested in exploring ideas of a four-nation tourney but it's now evident that nothing of that sort happened at board meeting.

Neutral umpires to make comeback in Tests

The ICC Cricket Committee acknowledged that the performance of home umpires was strong and had not affected games. The use of home umpires had also led to 12 members of the International Panel umpires making their Test match debut.

In line with a previous recommendation from the men's Cricket Committee, the CEC agreed that more neutral match officials should be utilised as travel restrictions are lifted while building on the success of the use of home umpires.

From the next season, one neutral on-field umpire will make a comeback in Test matches along with home team's elite panel umpire for company. For white ball games, ICC's Elite and Emirates panel home umpires will continue doing the job.

Afghanistan will be represented in ICC by Mirwais Ashraf

The ICC Board received an update from the Afghanistan Working Group which recommended Mirwais Ashraf as the ACB's appointed representative to the Board.

The ACB confirmed their continued commitment to developing women's cricket and will submit a full action plan and budget to do so to the Working Group which will continue to monitor the situation and receive regular updates on its progress.

A former BCCI selector has dropped a bomb regarding the Indian cricket board's President Sourav Ganguly. Some time back, reports were flowing in that Ganguly often takes part in team selection meetings, contrary to the constitution of the BCCI (which doesn't allow the board's chief's presence). Thus, a couple of ex-selectors have&nbsp;now opened up in this regard and stated that the former Indian captain's presence in team meetings have been a cause of concern.

As per a report carried out by the Indian Express, on Friday (March 04), a&nbsp;couple of former members of the selection committee have come forward and claimed&nbsp;that the 49-year-old Ganguly&nbsp;is indeed present during the Indian team selection meetings.&nbsp;

"Because of his stature and position, no one could object. It made many committee members uncomfortable and guarded in expressing their opinion," one of the former selectors&nbsp;told IE on the condition of anonymity.

Earlier, a lot was said and written about Ganguly's presence in team meetings during the&nbsp;Virat Kohli-Sourav Ganguly saga that transpired in December 2021. Back then, a picture had also gone viral on social media platforms comprising Ganguly, Rohit Sharma, Kohli and&nbsp;several members of the selection committee sitting together, in 2019, in the BCCI office. Thus, eyebrows were raised as it implied that Ganguly does remain a part of such&nbsp;meetings.&nbsp;

In this regard, Ganguly had clarified and told PTI, "I don't think I need to answer anybody, anything (on this) and dignify any of these baseless accusations. I am the president of the BCCI and I do the job of what the president of the BCCI should be doing. (I have played) 424 international matches for India. Not a bad idea at times to remind people about it, isn't it?"

It will be interesting to see how the former captain responds to the accusations made by a couple of ex-selectors.

Thus, a couple of ex-selectors have now opened up in this regard and stated that the former Indian captain's presence in team meetings have been a cause of concern. As per a report carried out by the Indian Express, on Friday (March 04), a couple of former members of the selection committee have come forward and claimed that the 49-year-old Ganguly is indeed present during the Indian team selection meetings. "Because of his stature and position, no one could object. It made many committee members uncomfortable and guarded in expressing their opinion," one of the former selectors told IE on the condition of anonymity. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief Jay Shah has responded to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja's proposal of a four-nation 'T20 Super Series' involving both India and Pakistan. Shah has played down the chances of the series getting materialised anytime soon stating that the BCCI's focus is on helping cricket expand globally which is a huge challenge for all major cricket boards.

PCB chief Raja had come up with a unique proposal earlier this year. He batted for a T20 Super Series involving India, Pakistan, Australia and England and said the profits from the tournament can be shared with all ICC members on a percentage basis. India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral cricket since the 2012-13 season due to the ongoing political tension between the two nations.

India and Pakistan have since continued to meet only in major ICC events. Any meeting between the arch-rivals is highly anticipated by cricket fans across the globe and the game between the two sides becomes a mega affair in any major ICC tournament. While the PCB is making all the efforts to resume bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan, BCCI has so far maintained a strict stand.

BCCI secretary Shah labelled Raja's proposal a 'short-term commercial initiative'&nbsp;while speaking to Reuters. The BCCI secretary asserted that the board will prioritise the expansion of cricket across the globe over such short-term initiatives.

"With the IPL window expanding and the ICC (global) events every year in the cycle, our primary responsibility is to safeguard bilateral cricket at home, with emphasis on test cricket," Shah told Reuters.

"I am also looking forward to seeing cricket at the Olympics, as that will help the game grow. Expansion of the sport is a challenge that our game faces and we must prioritise it over any short-term commercial initiative," he added.

Virat Kohli transformed India into a ruthless unit that performed admirably: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

The Indian cricket is blessed with plenty of yesteryear stars still contributing to the game by being involved in several roles. The former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is the BCCI President, since late 2019, whereas Rahul Dravid is serving as the head coach of the senior men's cricket team. On the other hand, VVS Laxman has taken up as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), as Dravid's successor.

Among the players from the golden era, only Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is missing from the setup. For the unversed, Tendulkar has worked as the mentor for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL, however, has never taken up any role in the Indian cricket setup post retirement. Few weeks back, BCCI chief Ganguly had hinted of adding Tendulkar to the setup. It now looks like the BCCI secretary Jay Shah is keen to have Tendulkar on board in some form.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is working towards developing an Indian Premier League (IPL)-like T20 league for women cricketers. BCCI secretary Jay Shah recently opened up regarding the Indian cricket board's plans to host a T20 league for women cricketers in India in the future.

A number of Indian players have been plying their trade in women's T20 leagues around the globe and have been garnering praise for their brilliant performances. Eight Indian players were part of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia this year where India's T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur had bagged the Player of the Series award.

Harmanpreet scored 399 runs and picked up 15 wickets in the season to take the Player of the Tournament award. The likes of Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma and &nbsp;Jemimah Rodrigues had also impressed in the league with their heroics. As women's cricket continues to reach greater heights, Shah assured the fans of BCCI soon introducing an IPL-like&nbsp;T20 league for women.

BCCI has already been conducting the Women's T20 Challenge which is a short tournament during an IPL season. The tournament, however, has only two teams and is yet to be scaled at a higher level with the introduction of more players and teams.

“The women’s T20 Challenge has drawn a huge interest among the fans and that is an encouraging sign. We all want a league like IPL for our women cricketers, but it is not just about putting together three or four teams and announcing the launch of a women’s IPL league," said Shah in an interview with Hindustan Times.

"There are a lot of factors that come into play like a dedicated window, availability of international stars and bilateral commitments of member boards to name a few. We are exploring all our options and working towards organising a similar league for our female players in future,” he added.

Shah pointed out how the likes of Harmanpreet and Mandhana have been very vocal about the introduction of an IPL-like league for women's cricketers in the country. He stated that such a tournament would help Indian players improve a lot as they will get to rub shoulders with some of the best cricketers in the world.

“Players like Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur have been very vocal about India having its own T20 league and helping overhaul the standard of the game in India,” he said.

“Having a league similar to the IPL will surely benefit our cricketers as they will get to play alongside international stars. Other than Smriti and Harmanpreet, other Indian team women cricketers did well in leagues like The Hundred and WBBL. Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma and Poonam Yadav are all sought-after players and role models in India. Their stint will definitely help them grow in confidence,” Shah added.

Team India is in a tricky position. Following the T20 World Cup in the UAE, the senior men's cricket team has undergone several changes within the leadership group. While Ravi Shastri's tenure as the head coach ended and was replaced by Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma took over as India's T20I captain after Virat Kohli's resignation.

Last week, Rohit was appointed as India's limited-overs captain, replacing Kohli in the ODI format as well. In addition, Hitman has replaced Ajinkya Rahane to become India's Test vice-captain. After so many changes, it is being reported that Kohli is set to miss the India-South Africa ODIs, to be held early next year, following the three Tests in the African nation.

With Kohli skipping the ODIs, many speculations have risen that all is not well between Kohli and Rohit post the ODI captaincy switch decision by the BCCI. However, a BCCI official has shunned all such reports of Kohli's unavailability and claimed that he hasn't sent any formal request to skip the ODIs versus the Proteas.

But yes, if he feels bubble fatigue after the Test series and wants to take a break, he would definitely inform the chairman of selectors and secretary (Shah), who is the convenor of the selection committee," the source added.

As per reports, Kohli was set to miss the SA ODIs post the captaincy switch and to be with his family to celebrate daughter Vamika's first birthday. Nonetheless, it seems everything were just mere rumours.

Virat Kohli hasn't sent any formal request to miss SA ODIs, reveals BCCI official

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that India's upcoming tour of South Africa this month is on despite the threat due to the new coronavirus variant - Omicron in the country. However, Shah said Team India will travel to South Africa only for three Tests and three ODIs while the four-match T20I series will be played at a later date.

There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding India's upcoming tour of South Africa as COVID-19 cases have surged in the country after the emergence of the Omicron variant which has been labelled as a 'variant of concern' by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The cases have gone up significantly in the Gauteng province where India and South Africa are scheduled to play the first two Tests of the three-match series.

However, after assurance from Cricket South Africa over the strict bio-bubble arrangements for the visitors, BCCI has decided to give a go-ahead to the Indian team for the tour. "BCCI has confirmed CSA that the Indian team will travel for three Tests and three ODIs. The remaining four T20Is will be played at a later date," Shah told ANI.

Omicron recently led to the suspension of all major sporting events in South Africa with the Netherlands cricket team also cutting short their tour of the country. A few golf and Rugby games also had to be postponed or called off in the wake of the rise in COVID-19 cases across the country.

The India A cricket team, however, has stayed back in South Africa for their three unofficial Test matches against the South Africa A side. While two games have concluded the third match is all set to get underway from Monday (December 06).

As per their original schedule, India had to leave for South Africa next week after the conclusion of the ongoing home Test series against New Zealand. The first Test between India and South Africa is set to get underway from December 17 as per the schedule. However, it remains to be seen if BCCI will stick with the old schedule or a new schedule will be followed.

India to tour South Africa for three Tests, three ODIs; T20Is to be played later: BCCI secretary Jay Shah

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Saturday (November 20) confirmed India will host the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022. While the 2020 season was played entirely in the UAE due to the COVID-19 situation in the country, the second leg of the 2021 season had to be moved to the UAE in the wake of the new wave of the virus earlier this year.

Nonetheless, Shah on Saturday said the tournament will return to India next year. Speaking at Chennai Super Kings (CSK)'s title celebration ceremony in Chennai, Shah addressed the fans and said he knows the Chennai crowd has been eagerly waiting for the team to return to Chepauk and that the moment is not that far.

"I know you are all eagerly waiting to see CSK play at the Chepauk, the moment is not very far. The 15th season of the IPL will take place in India and it will be more exciting than ever with two new teams joining," Shah told the fans.

"We have a mega-auction coming up so it will be interesting to see what the new combination looks like," he added.

Chennai Super Kings have not played an IPL game at their home ground - Chepauk Stadium for two years as during the first leg of IPL 2021 teams were not allowed to play at home. Thus, CSK is expected to receive&nbsp;a roaring welcome when they eventually return to the Chepauk next season.

The BCCI has already confirmed the retention rules for the existing eight franchises, which have been allowed to retain a maximum of four players each. The franchises can retain a maximum of only three Indian players and not more than two overseas players as part of their final four retentions.

Rahul Dravid is set to take over officially as Team India's full-time coach from the New Zealand home series, starting from November 17. Dravid will succeed Ravi Shastri, who played the role of India's head coach from mid-2017 to late 2021.

While India did very well under Shastri, across formats, his tenure ended without India winning an ICC title. After the T20 World Cup 2021 debacle, a lot has been said and written with regard to Team India's hectic cricketing schedule in a calendar year and the fatigue issue surrounding the players. Hence, the newly-appointed coach Dravid has taken up the fatigue issue with the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), as per a report in the Indian Express, and is also set to&nbsp;play a key role in the&nbsp;subject of players' rotation, depending upon their workload, in coordination with BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

So far, the matter of players' rotation, rest, and workload management has been in the hands of the selectors. However, it seems the picture is set to change after a number of players complained of bio-bubble fatigue. Hence, the new head coach Dravid is set to spearhead the whole process of the players being given adequate rest before the national selectors announce the squad for any future series or big-ticket tournaments.

On Tuesday evening (November 9), the BCCI announced a 15-man squad for India's T20I series versus New Zealand. The Rohit Sharma-led squad didn't comprise the likes of Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, etc. As all the key players have been part of bio-bubbles and have been playing cricket continuously, the break is much needed for them.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja said the board needs to forge a cricketing bond with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to revitalise the cricketing ties between the two nations. BCCI to ask ECB to arrange couple of warm up games for Team India: Reports

IPL 2021 was indefinitely postponed due to the rise in COVID-19 cases within the franchises. The BCCI confirmed that the second half of IPL will take place in the United Arab Emirates. Although there is a possibility of missing few overseas players, however, the Board of Control for Cricket in India&nbsp; (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla affirmed the league will go on in any case.&nbsp;

The excess 31 matches of IPL 2021 are likely to be held from September 15&nbsp;to October 10&nbsp;in the UAE. Notwithstanding, few of the boards aim to keep their players afresh for T20 World Cup in October, certain franchises may miss their overseas players' services.&nbsp;

Rajeev Shukla, however, guaranteed that the IPL 2021 will be completed with the accessible players and that the franchises would likewise be permitted to rope in substitutions.

Rajeev Shukla in an interaction told Khaleej Times: “We have discussed that [foreign players] issue also. Our main focus is on completing this edition of the IPL. It should not be left halfway through. So, whichever foreign players are available is fine. Whoever is not available, it is not going to stop us from hosting the tournament.

“The Indian players are there, foreign players are there, but few foreign players will not be available. As I said, we have to complete our tournament. So the franchises will definitely look for other players. Whoever is available, we are going to have the tournament with them. That’s our policy”

As of now, there are questions over the support of players from England and Australia. While Team England is scheduled to play two T20Is in Pakistan on October 14 and 15, Cricket Australia may very well need to deal with their players' responsibility in front of the World Cup and Ashes toward the year's end.&nbsp;

Rajeev Shukla is as of now in the UAE for a meeting with the Emirates Cricket Board and government experts on the coordinations of arranging the excess matches of IPL 2021. He will be joined by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah, and &nbsp;Brijesh Patel.&nbsp;

“I am already here. Now a team of office-bearers, president, secretary, and the IPL chairman will be coming here in a couple of days. We will be having discussions with the cricket board here and the other authorities. “The only issue about the spectators, whether they will allow the spectators or not. So we will talk to them about that. We will go by whatever UAE authorities decide. If they say it’s with spectators, and a certain percentage of spectators, we are fine. Or if they say without spectators, that is also fine with us," he said.
