This was Delhi's third win in four matches, taking them to six points - equal to table-toppers Mumbai who have three wins in three matches. Chasing a target of 106 runs, Capitals women raced to 87 in six overs of powerplay - the highest this season - and mauled down the paltry total in inside eight overs - 7.1 to be precise.</p>

<p>Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Gujarat Giants women were off to a poor start as they lost Sabbhineni Meghana on the second ball of the match to Kapp's brilliant yorker. The DC's South African all-rounder then ran riot and took four wickets inside powerplay.</p>

He is also the only player to have played for a single franchise since the inception of the league.</p>

<p>Kohli also led the side until 2021 and led the Challengers to the final in 2016 season during his stint. The same 2016 season was the one when he was at prime of his batting form, scoring 973 runs in 16 matches at an astonishing average of 81.08 and four centuries as well.</p>

<p>Having scored 138/10 in 19.3, Smriti Mandhana and Co were already out of the contest when they lost a series of wickets in their innings. While Sophie Devine (36) and Sophie Devine (52) showed some resilience with the bat against a resolute UP bowling attack, the rest of the team was disappointed and departed to the pavilion at wholesale scores.</p>

<p>Glenn Maxwell has been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) since the 2013 edition. He has represented the likes of Mumbai Indians (MI), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) -- now known as Punjab Kings (PBKS) -- Delhi Daredevils (DD) -- now renamed as Delhi Capitals (DC) -- before moving to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in IPL 2021. While Maxwell had a disastrous run for PBKS in IPL 2020, he was roped in by the RCB franchise ahead of IPL 2021. The Australian star all-rounder repaid the faith shown by the RCB team management with a stellar season.</p>

<p>In IPL 2021, Maxwell&nbsp;scored 513 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of&nbsp;144.10; one of the reasons for RCB reaching the playoffs. After such an impressive run, there were little doubts in anyone's mind that he won't be retained by the franchise. However, there were limited slots and abundance of talents in RCB's ranks ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. Nonetheless, he was one of the three players retained -- along with Virat Kohli and Md Siraj -- before the auction. The all-rounder recently recalled his reaction on being retained by the RCB setup.</p>

<p>"You never know what’s gonna happen because it’s a big auction. And like, with how many people they were going to retain and we had, obviously, a couple of bowlers — Siraj, Harshal, Yuzi (Chahal), then AB, Virat, and those young Indian players, and all could have been retained at some stage. So to retain an overseas batter, sometimes isn’t the smartest move," Maxwell said on the RCB Podcast.</p>

<p>Maxwell added, "It seems straightforward, but in my head, there was obviously a lot more I had to go through. When I got the phone call that I was gonna be retained, I was pumped and couldn’t wait to stick around."</p>

<p>Having been bought by the franchise for INR 14.25 crore, in 2021,&nbsp;Maxwell has now become a vital part of RCB. In the previous edition, he returned with 301 runs in 13 games as RCB once again made it to the playoffs. He will aim for another memorable run in IPL 2023, starting on March 31.</p>

"You never know what’s gonna happen because it’s a big auction. And like, with how many people they were going to retain and we had, obviously, a couple of bowlers — Siraj, Harshal, Yuzi (Chahal), then AB, Virat, and those young Indian players, and all could have been retained at some stage. So to retain an overseas batter, sometimes isn’t the smartest move," Maxwell said on the RCB Podcast. <p>England’s World Cup-winning all-rounder Chris Woakes aims to make a return to the Test side during the home Ashes that starts on June 16th in Edgbaston. Having last appeared in whites during the Windies series in March 2022, Woakes skipped IPL 2023 just to play the County Championship for Warwickshire in a bid to make his much-awaited comeback to the Test side.</p>

<p>As per the right-handed all-rounder, he has a better record in England across formats and feels if he stays fit and Test-ready, he would love to be part of the Ashes squad.</p>

<p>"I would love to be a part of it and I still feel my record in England stands up against anyone's," Woakes told British media on Wednesday as quoted in Reuters. "If I can get myself red-ball fit and firing and bowling well I'd like to think I'd be in the mix. It's a tough side to get into, I recognise that, and have an opportunity at the start of the season to put in some performances."</p>

<p>With James Anderson continuing to stay on the top of the bowling chart in Tests following remarkable performances lately, he would like to save some fuel for the travelling Australians. On the other hand, veteran Stuart Broad, fully-fit Jofra Archer along with Ollie Robinson will also make up for a great bowling pack heading into the Ashes.</p>

<p>While several English all-rounders made it big in the IPL 2023 auction, Woakes decided to skip playing in the cash-rich league as he doesn’t think he gets into the best shape to play Test cricket right after participating in so many T20 games on a stretch.</p>

<p>"Whenever I've come back from the IPL before I don't feel I've come back in the best shape going into the test summer," Woakes said. "For me, that jump from T20 to test cricket is quite a big jump and I have found that transition quite hard. It's different for batsmen. It's trickier for bowlers and all-rounders to go from tournament to tournament and still play for England."</p>

WPL 2023: RCB's Heather Knight gets SHOCKING suggestion from teammate to 'get pink Holi powder out of hair'

<p>Mumbai Indians (MI) women have made a terrific start of the 2023 Women's Premier League (WPL) by winning their first two matches. In their first match against Gujarat Giants (GG-W) by 143 runs and against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB-W) by 9 wickets.</p>

<p>In both those matches, MI-W's West Indian all-rounder Hayley Matthews played an important role. After scoring 47 runs against GG, Matthews gave a Player-of-the-Match performance against RCB as she took three wickets and scored 77 runs off 38 balls.</p>

<p>Congratulating Matthews on her performance, England bowler Jorfra Archer, who plays for Mumbai Indians men's side in the Indian Premier League (IPL), posted a video on the social media. Archer, however, got cheeky in the end and teased Hayley about her favorite team in the English Premier League (EPL), Arsenal, to which Hayley posted a epic reply.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mumbai Indians' Instagram handle posted the video by Archer and tagged Matthews. It was captioned, " @hkmatthews50, Jofra has a special message for you! Arsenal fans, you may want to skip hearing the last line."</p>

<p>The celebration happened after DC slayed UP Warriorz in the fifth match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) by 42 runs on Tuesday at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.</p>

<p>Batting first after losing the toss, Delhi started brilliantly, thanks to their skipper Meg Lanning, who played another masterful innings of 70 runs. And, with some fireworks by Jess Jonassen in the end overs, who scored 42 unbeaten runs of just 20 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, the Capitals finished at 211/4 in their 20 overs. Their second consecutive 200+ total in the league.</p>

The KL Rahul-led side bowed out in the IPL 2022 Eliminator and will be eager to go the distance this time around in the forthcoming season. Ahead of the tournament opener, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir was all praise for Rahul.</p>

<p>Rahul has been under-fire for his poor form of late. In Tests, he has only managed 192 runs in the last 12 innings and was left out of India's playing XI for the Indore Test versus Australia. He lost the ODI vice-captaincy post to Hardik Pandya in January 2023 and got sacked as Rohit's deputy in Tests as well. Amid severe criticism from all corners, Gambhir -- former Indian opener and two-time IPL winning captain (for Kolkata Knight Riders) -- said that Lucknow is 'very fortunate' to have Rahul as their captain.</p>

<p>In addition, Gambhir&nbsp;further stated that the right-hander has a stable and balanced head while accepting that he lacked such qualities&nbsp;during his playing days.</p>

<p>At LSG's jersey launch, Gambhir said, "It starts with the captain. The captain is the flag bearer of the team. It is the captain's team. All of us in the dressing room are there to support him. <p>The game of cricket is changing and it’s changing for good. Following the invention of the T20 format and the franchise cricket that followed, this game has seen introduction of several new rules. With the Women’s Premier League (WPL) being the talking point&nbsp;as of now, there is one new rule that has been added to its guide book which states that a player can now challenge any on-field decision, and not just dismissals, be it a no-ball and also a wide ball during this tournament and also during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL).</p>

<p>In the first of its kind move in the T20 cricket across the world, the players, barring the ‘Timed Out’ (Player Review), can now request for a review against any call given by the on-field umpire, something that has never been seen before. These Add-Ons will also be part of the two reviews that each team gets during both innings. However, the leg-byes, will be exempted from this.</p>

<p>Understanding the gravity of playing for Chennai in the IPL, Stokes is firm in his head of not showing his back to them; however, he also realises the importance of staying fit for the upcoming home Ashes. Caught in the middle of all of this after not being able to put up a 100% performance in the Wellington Test against New Zealand due to discomfort in his knee, Stokes is expected to be available for the IPL 2023 opener against Gujarat Titans on March 31st.</p>

In fact I look forward to watching him play in it and see, without captaincy as well, the opportunity to play cricket without worrying about everybody else, knowing when he comes back into the fold and leads us into the Ashes campaign he'll have the bit between his teeth and I think we'll be alright.”</p>

<p>"He sees the big picture in everything, so I've no concerns that the skipper will be totally looked after. And I also believe that the Ashes is the script that the skipper is waiting to write, so he'll be sweet," McCullum added.</p>
