Asked to chase down a huge target of 181 runs, CSK got off to a woeful start as they lost openers Ruturak Gaikwad (1) and Robin Uthappa (13) cheaply before Moeen Ali was sent back on a duck. Ambati Ryaudu too failed to get going as he departed after managing only 13 runs off 21 balls.

CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja, who walked out to bat at no.5 too couldn't make an impact and was sent packing on a duck after facing just three deliveries. It was MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube who steadied the ship for their side after CSK were reduced to 36/5 inside eight overs.

Dube and Dhoni combined to post a 62-run stand for the sixth wicket and kept CSK in the hunt. While Dube took the attack against the Punjab Kings bowlers, Dhoni's approach left many baffled. The former CSK skipper played too many dot balls and failed to rotate the strike well as Dube was left alone to play the attacking game.

Gavaskar explained how Dhoni's failure to compliment Dube and his slow approach from the other end ended up costing CSK the game against Punjab Kings. The former India captain said Dhoni couldn't get a move on early in his innings which is the reason why CSK got stuck in the run chase.

"With MSD, what you see is that even if he doesn't start hitting the big ones, he is moving the strike along, getting those ones and twos. He wasn't quite able to do that this time around. That's where CSK got stuck just that little bit," Gavaskar said on&nbsp;Star Sports.

"If they had a situation where Shivam Dube was hitting the ball so well, they needed to get a move on along with him. That didn't quite happen. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pacer Umesh Yadav has made a stunning comeback in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Umesh has delivered consistent performances with the ball in KKR's first three matches of the season and is currently the leading wicket-taker of IPL 2022 with 8 wickets from three games so far.

Umesh, who had played only two matches in the last two seasons of IPL&nbsp;having been written off by many as a T20 bowler, has been absolutely sensational for KKR this year. The 34-year-old, who is also a regular for the Indian team in Tests, recently opened up on his journey to realising his dream of playing cricket for India.

It was not an easy journey for Umesh, who comes from a humble background. Umesh was born in Nagpur city of the Indian state of Maharashtra and his father used to work in coal mines. Opening up on the initial struggles in his cricketing career, Umesh said he comes from a place where dreaming about playing cricket is an expensive one for youngsters.

"From where I belong, there will be very few boys who believe that they could play for India. Playing and dreaming about cricket was expensive for them. Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting feels South African pacer Anrich Nortje is just a couple of spells away from being match ready and expressed optimism over his availability for their next IPL game against Lucknow Super Giants on April 7.

Nortje has been out of competitive cricket since last November's T20 World Cup due to a back and hip injury.

"Nortje bowled 100% this morning (Saturday) in the warm-ups. He has to get through another maybe four or five-over spell at 100% capacity and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go.

"We have got a few more days before our next game, so hopefully he is available for selection for that one," Ponting said at the virtual post-match press conference after losing by 14 runs against Gujarat Titans here on Saturday night.

"Mitchell Marsh has been in Mumbai for a few days, obviously getting his quarantine done. I think he might be out of quarantine tomorrow actually," he said.

"We are hoping that he (Marsh) is going to be available for the game on 10th (against Kolkata Knight Riders). He picked up that slight hip flexor strain in Pakistan. So we need to get a lot of treatment work into him and obviously a few good training sessions before he is available for selection.

"But fingers crossed, Davey should be there for the next game and Mitch Marsh for the game after."

DC coach said the 172-run target was a chaseable one but early wickets hurt their cause against Titans.

"Unfortunately for us, for the second game in succession we were behind the eight-ball early. There were a few too many quite soft dismissals from our batsmen tonight.

"If you are losing three wickets in the powerplay, it's really hard to win games from there. We know that, the stats say that, they have said that right through the history of T20 cricket. That's certainly one area that we got to get better at, getting through that powerplay. None or one down would be a nice start to a run chase."

The loss of early wickets, notwithstanding, DC were in great position to chase down the target, needing 54 runs off the last six overs with skipper Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell at the crease.

Titans fast bowler Lockie Ferguson, who returned with match-winning figures of 4 for 28, said his focus was only on bowling in the right areas.

"There was little bit of nip in the pitch. My job was pretty simple to bowl in the right areas and try to find the nip off the pitch," he said.
