Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard feels that pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has taken over the mantle from Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga to become the lynchpin of the four-time IPL champions' bowling attack.

After picking up the crucial wickets of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Nicholas Pooran in the stipulated 20 overs, Bumrah (3/24) bowled an excellent Super Over against Kings XI Punjab, conceding just five runs.

However, it was not enough as Mohammad Shami bowled an equally impressive over to lead the match to a second Super Over in which KXIP snatched a win at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

"He's a world-class cricketer. He has been number one in a couple of formats for a long period of time. He has learned and has grown leaps and bounds for us at Mumbai Indians...We have comfort in him," Pollard said at the post-match press conference.

"A couple of years ago, we had a fit and fair Lasith Malinga and he (Bumrah) has taken over that mantle now," he added. 
Malinga, the highest wicket-taker in the IPL, opted out this year citing personal reasons. 
Chasing five runs in the first Super Over, skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock failed to take MI across the finish line.

In the second Super Over, Pollard and Hardik Pandya helped the defending champions score 11 runs.

"Obviously there are decision-makers to make the decision, you know we can look at those things and say that's where we lost the game but we played a very good game of cricket. We batted well," said Pollard.

Mumbai have lost two games via Super Overs. They were defeated by Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier in the tournament. 
Their five-match winning streak broken by KXIP, the defending champions are placed second with 12 points.

"Just a matter of improvement, each and every time we step on the cricket field it is to improve and to do better. We will look back and analyse the game and we will come up with a better plan and hopefully get two points in the next game," said the all-rounder. 
KXIP pacer Chris Jordan, who bowled the second Super Over for his team, was delighted to be on the winning side.

"I feel like the way we have played a lot of our games this season, they could have been very easily ended with us on the winning side," Jordan said during the post-match press conference.

"Unfortunately, that was not the case. I think from the last two games, specially the kind of team spirit and camaraderie we have shown as an entire team and entire franchise has been second to none.

"Just glad that we have a little bit of luck going our way now but we can't rest on that," he added.

Jordon conceded 11 runs of the second Super Over. Chris Gayle then hit the first ball bowled by Trent Boult for a six before opener Mayank Agarwal cracked successive fours as KXIP notched up an incredible win to keep their IPL play-off hopes alive.

The presence of the big-hitting Gayle in the playing XI has also inspired the team.

"You can see the impact the legend himself, Gayle, made in the last two games. Hitting a fifty after not playing for a while and then finish off the game in the Super Over for us. It is great to have, what I considered to be a great of the game, in our team. His energy is unbelievable," Jordan said.

KXIP have got the better of MI and RCB in their last two games, however, KL Rahul and his men have been guilty of making their run chases too close and the pacer hopes his side can close in matches quicker.

"If we want to take it to the next level, we have got to keep doing simple things and hopefully finish off games a bit quick as well," Jordan added.

IPL 2020: Bumrah has taken over the mantle from Malinga, says Pollard

Delhi Capitals on Monday announced the replacement for veteran spinner Amit Mishra by roping in 27-year-old leg-spinner Pravin Dubey for the remainder of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/ipl">Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020</a>. Dubey, a Karnataka-based bowler, has played 14 domestic T20 matches while scalping 16 wickets to his name with an economy rate of 6.87.

Mishra, one of the most consistent performers in IPL history and the leading Indian wicket-taker in the tournament, was ruled out of the entire season after sustaining an injury to his right ring finger during DC’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders in Sharjah on October 3. Since then, Mishra underwent a surgery and his recovering from the setback currently. Notably, Mishra has three hat-tricks in IPL history.

Lockie Ferguson was the star for Kolkata Knight Riders as the Eoin Morgan-led outfit overcame a Super Over scare against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Ferguson, playing his first match in Indian Premier League (IPL) picked up three wickets in his four-over quota before coming back and dismissing both David Warner and Abdul Samad in the Super Over while restricting SRH for just two runs. &nbsp;

The Kiwi speedster scalped the big wickets of Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg to bring KKR back into the match while sealing the deal with a terrific Super Over.&nbsp;

“I think getting David Warner out especially at the start of the super over [was my favourite wicket]. It's great having Morgs at the top off the mark with his calmness and of course I had my plan which was working throughout the game. Look we'll take this win and enjoy tonight, it was a very good win on a tough wicket. It was nice to put the icing on the cake after the batsmen's effort,” Ferguson said after collecting the Man of the Match award.

KKR, batting first, posted 163/5 in 20 overs after late blitz from Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan. While SRH struggled to get those runs coming, David Warner smashed three boundaries in the final over off Andre Russell to take the match to the Super Over.&nbsp;

With the win, KKR now have 10 points to their name while SRH are still stuck with six points under their belt.

“Sunil Narine, the Kolkata Knight Riders player, has been cleared by the IPL’s Suspect Bowling Action Committee. Mr Narine was reported for bowling with a Suspected Illegal Bowling Action during his team’s Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match against Kings XI Punjab at Abu Dhabi on October 10. Following the report, Mr Narine was placed on the IPL Warning List.

“KKR requested for an Official Assessment of Mr Narine’s action from the IPL Suspect Bowling Action Committee, submitting action footage in slow motion with back and side angles. The Committee carefully reviewed all the deliveries of action footage sent of Mr Narine with the naked eye and has come to the conclusion that the elbow-bend appears to be within the range of permissible limits. The Committee also noted that Mr. Narine should reproduce the same action going forward in the IPL 2020 matches as presented to the Committee in the video footage.

“Mr Narine has now been removed from the IPL Suspect Action Warning List.”

In an exclusive interview with WION’s Subhayan Chakraborty, Kings XI Punjab pacer Arshdeep Singh spoke about sharing the dressing room with some of the biggest names in world cricket, KL Rahul’s captaincy, learning from Anil Kumble and Charl Langeveldt, bowling to Andre Russell and more.&nbsp;

Arshdeep has been a welcome addition to KXIP’s bowling unit in IPL 2020 and the youngster has made headlines by bowling crucial overs for the Punjab outfit while picking up four wickets in three matches. He further boasts an eye-catching economy of 7.80.&nbsp;

After having a successful trial in 2019, Arshdeep impressed the KXIP staff and scouts with his execution in death overs and was picked up by the franchise in the IPL 2019 auction. Still carving his way to the top, Arshdeep is steadily becoming a household name as he terms the KXIP franchise as a “family”. The 21-year-old is beaming with confidence while putting up some impressive numbers for his side in IPL 2020.

“It is always a special feeling playing in the IPL and for Kings XI Punjab. Honestly, it is no less than a family and I have always felt comfortable playing for this franchise,” Arshdeep told WION in an exclusive interview.

“It’s all about confidence, I think. Last season, I was new to the tournament and different situations this tournament puts you in but this season, it doesn’t feel like an alien situation and I feel I belong to this competition. I have backed my abilities and continue to do so,” the member of Under-19 World Cup 2018 added.

Arshdeep has bowled in some crunch situations in the 13th edition of IPL but has left everyone impressed with the maturity he has shown with the ball.

“The plan has been to keep things simple. In the team meetings, with coach and support staff of the team, the talk is always to keep things simple and execute it. And you can see that it has come out for me well so far in this tournament.”

The likes of Mandeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi have already hailed the influence of Anil Kumble in the dressing room and how the former Indian skipper backs his players to bring confidence factor into the play. When asked about Anil Kumble and bowling coach Charl Langeveldt, Arshdeep spoke in similar lines as he heaped praise on the coaching staff while explaining how they give him and other players the freedom to come up with their own plans.

“Both (Anil Kumble and Charl Langeveldt) have been legends of the game at their time. I am trying to pick their brains as much as possible. The experience they share is always helpful for me and other players as well. Charl just asks me to back my execution and talent and gives me the freedom to bowl according my comfort. And Anil sir is so helpful with everything. He always tells me to come to approach them or the captain and talk to them about whatever I am feeling about my bowling plans and gives me a free hand in what I want to do in a particular match or situation,” Arshdeep said.

KXIP added some big names to their squad for IPL 2020 with the likes of Sheldon Cottrell, Jimmy Neesham, Chris Jordan among many others joining in. The KXIP dressing room boasts some huge names in the world of cricket. For Arshdeep, it is simple. Just keep picking their brains and keep learning.&nbsp;

“It is a big boost for me as I have been learning plenty of things from these guys. They might not enjoy my company that much as I always keep on asking questions” (laughs) but I make sure that I take everything from them”

KXIP also have some good domestic talent in their ranks. While there is always competition for places within the team, Arshdeep is of the view that regardless of whoever finds his name in the playing XI or in the bench, the mantra is to keep backing the team.

“There is a healthy competition. It is really good to have great bunch of youngsters in the squad. We can share a laugh and talk about things. Some of us know each other from under-19 days. It is about enjoying each other’s company and not about who will play or who will sit out. We just back each other regardless of whoever play”

Arshdeep made a massive impact in KXIP’s match against KKR where he conceded just 25 runs off his four-over quota while sending Andre Russell packing in the 19th over. “My biggest learning has been that many lose their focus when they come to IPL and the environment but main thing is to keep yourself focused. Many people try too many things in IPL but for me, it is about backing my talent and skill-set," said the southpaw.

Former Indian wicket-keeper Deep Dasgupta said he wasn’t surprised by Eoin Morgan being named the new Kolkata Knight Riders captain after Dinesh Karthik stepped down from the leadership duties in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

KKR on Friday announced that the 2019 World Cup winning captain will take over the captaincy duties from Karthik, who helped KKR win four out of seven matches in IPL 2020 so far.&nbsp;

Karthik has captained KKR in 37 matches since 2018 with a record of 19 wins and 17 defeats. While KKR qualified to the playoffs in 2018, they ended fifth in the league stage last season.&nbsp;

"I'm not surprised with this decision because more than Dinesh Karthik's form as a batsman or captain, we also have to notice the fact that KKR had a World Cup-winning skipper in their side in Eoin Morgan.

However, Dasgupta stated that KKR players might struggle to adapt to Morgan’s captaincy but backed the Englishman to carry the team forward in IPL 2020.&nbsp;

Team policies, strategies and mentality changes when there is a change in leadership, especially in the middle of a season, because every captain is different. There might be a few players who might not be able to adapt to the way Morgan leads the team or can't relate to his style of captaincy.

With Rajasthan Royals struggling in the bottom-half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 points table and skipper Steve Smith struggling heavily with his form, speculations started that RR might drop Smith as the captain of the side for the rest of IPL 2020.

Rajasthan Royals on Twitter posted a couple of photos in praise of swashbuckling English wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler on Friday and many started speculating that he might replace Smith as the captain of RR.

However, Rajasthan Royals’ Chief Operating Officer Jake Lush McCrum dismissed the rumous of Buttler taking over captaincy duties from Smith while even RR took to Twitter to confirm it was nothing short of plain rumour.
