Dhawan was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction this year where he was picked up by Punjab Kings for a sum of Rs 8.25 crore (INR 82.5 million). He has once again been among the runs for his new team this season and has already crossed the 250-run mark for Punjab Kings in their first eight matches.

The left-hand opener has been providing good starts to his team at the top with skipper Mayank Agarwal. On Monday, after completing the milestone of 6,000 runs in IPL, Dhawan went on to notch up a half-century against CSK at the Wankhede Stadium.

In their last game against RCB, SRH bundled out Faf du Plessis &amp; Co. for a paltry 68 to thrash them by 9 wickets. RCB recorded the lowest ever total in the ongoing season after an exceptional bowling effort from SRH, who have managed to formulate a settled bowling attack despite releasing Rashid Khan earlier this year.

Many had criticised SRH for not retaining Rashid, who is one of the best T20 bowlers in the world at present and had been a prolific wicket-taker for the franchise since his IPL debut in 2017. However, SRH's current batting coach Brian Lara believes the franchise was right in letting the Afghanistan spinner go.

Lara said batters had started defending against Rashid and he was no more a wicket-taker which made the spinner less effective for SRH.&nbsp;"I have great respect for Rashid Khan but I believe we have the right combination. Rashid Khan was someone who opposition teams decided to defend against, he was not much of a wicket-taker," Lara said after SRH's win over RCB on Saturday.

Former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds recently recalled how his huge contract in the Indian Premier League (IPL) strained his relationship with teammate Michael Clarke. Symonds revealed he used to share a great bond with Clarke but the relationship between the duo went downhill after the inception of IPL in 2008.

Symonds was the second-most expensive player in the IPL 2008 auction where he was roped in by now-defunct Deccan Chargers for USD 1.35 million at the time. His price was only behind MS Dhoni, who was sold to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the inaugural edition of the tournament.

Symonds was one of the star players bought by Deccan Chargers, who had also signed the likes of Adam Gilchrist, VVS Laxman and Shahid Afridi among others. The former Australian all-rounder believes jealousy cropped up in his relationship with Clarke after he was sold for a big amount at the IPL 2008 auction which strained their bond.

“We became close. When he (Clarke) came into the side, I used to bat with him a lot. So when he came into the side, I really looked after him. That built a bond,” Symonds was quoted as saying on the Brett Lee podcast.

“Matthew Hayden said to me — when the IPL started, I got a pretty penny to go and play in the IPL — he identified it as there was a bit of jealousy that potentially came into the relationship (with Clarke) there," added the former Aussie all-rounder.

Symonds further stated that money in the IPL poisoned his relationship with Clarke who used to be his good friend but he is comfortable with the fact that they don't share the bond&nbsp;anymore and said he doesn't want to dig up the past. Symonds and Clarke were part of the Australian dressing room for quite a few years.

“Money does funny things. It’s a good thing but it can be a poison and I reckon it may have poisoned our relationship. I’ve got enough respect for him to probably not go into detail about what was said. My friendship with him is no longer and I’m comfortable with that, but I’m not gonna sit here and start slinging mud,” Symonds added.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane recently revealed his favourite Indian Premier League (IPL) team as cricket fans around the world continue to enjoy the ongoing 15th edition of the tournament. IPL 2022 which got underway in March this year has so far produced a number of enthralling contests between the ten teams which are part of the competition.

Kane, who is a huge fan of Virat Kohli having met the former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain a few times, said he is a fan of RCB due to his equation with the batting maestro. Kane, who is one of the best strikers in the world at present, believes RCB has picked some good players this season and hopes they can do well.

Kane spoke about his love for Kohli and RCB in a video shared by Star Sports. The England football team captain said he likes watching all IPL teams but RCB are his favourite.

“So my team is RCB. I have been lucky enough to meet Virat Kohli a few times and speak with him. They have picked up some good players this time," said Kane.

“They were unlucky last year but they did the right things this year, they started well. There are some great teams at the IPL. I just like watching all of them to be honest but hopefully, RCB can go well,” he added.

Kohli might be undergoing a rough patch with the willow in recent times but remains one of the bet batters in the world. He has been a prolific run-getter across formats over the years and has also been a run machine for RCB in the IPL. Lauding Kohli for his batting heorics, Kane called the former RCB skipper 'incredible to watch'.

“Virat is incredible to watch. A real down to earth guy. He has fire in his batting and passion when you watch him play which is great to see,” said the Spurs star.

“We have been playing cricket for a year and a half and so we were playing pretty much once or twice a week and that was good fun. We enjoy playing cricket, obviously, the IPL is on at the moment so we’re enjoying watching that as well,” he added.

This was the first time that any cricketer has taken four wickets in a spell of one over or less as Russell ended the match with figures of 1-0-5-4 to restrict GT to a below-par total of 156.

Previously, former KKR cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla had taken 3/6 against Delhi Daredevils way back in 2008 after bowling just five balls in his spell while Rajasthan Royals spinner Shreyas Gopal took three wickets for just 12 runs in a spell of one over against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2019.

Gujarat Titans looked well set for a big total with Hardik Pandya leading by example with a gritty 49-ball-67 to steady the innings with partnerships with Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller.

However, they lost the plot completely towards the latter half of the innings as wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Tim Southee started the fightback for KKR as he dismissed Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan.
