<p>Pakistan cricket team's skipper Babar Azam's mother was on a ventilator when he led his side to victory against India in the T20 World Cup, his father Azam Siddique revealed on Saturday (October 30).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The right-handed batsman hit an unbeaten 68, anchoring the chase to register a 10-wicket win over the Virat Kohli &amp; Co., but his thoughts were with his mother, who was placed on life support after surgery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Babar's father issued a lengthy note on his Instagram account, saying&nbsp;that his son played all three World Cup games "in severe distress".</p>

Not many have had the privilege to experience that feeling but a certain 21-year-old did on Sunday. Dubai awaited a hero as did Pakistan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi stepped up to bowl the spell of his career as he tormented India in a matter of just two deliveries. Two deliveries were all it took for the tall and lanky left-arm pacer to completely shift the momentum in Pakistan's favour as the Men in Green sensed an unforeseeable victory. There is nothing like an India-Pakistan game when it comes to cricket. The sheer hype surrounding the game and the pressure of expectations of billions back home can often get the better of even the toughest of characters in either of the dressing rooms. But Shaheen Afridi had not even the slightest of signs of jitteriness as he took the ball for the opening over of what was going to be the start of a stunning spell. <p>While many Indian players, including captain Kohli, were subjected to abuse on social media post the loss, Shami was even asked to 'leave the country' by a few. Ever since the conclusion of the match, the Indian cricket fraternity and millions of fans have extended their support to the fast bowler.</p>

<p>Former Indian cricketer Kaif is the latest to join the bandwagon as he stated that targeting Shami for his faith and asking him to leave the country was "uncalled-for and unpardonable".&nbsp;</p>

<p>"I have been witnessing how Mohammad Shami was trolled after the game against Pakistan. I have played enough cricket to understand that the fans do get angry when their team loses a game by a big margin.</p>

<p>"Just imagine how a player, who for all his life has sacrificed everything to earn an India cap, would be feeling. But Shami, I know, is a tough cricketer. I can tell him from my experience, we have much more genuine fans in our country who give us unconditional love and they can easily outnumber the trolls on social media," said Kaif.</p>

<p>Shami will be eager to respond to his critics and deliver for Team India when they lock horns with New Zealand in their second game of the Super 12 in the T20 World Cup 2021 on October 31.</p>

<p>While Kohli &amp; Co. gracefully accepted the defeat and will now be desperate to get off the mark in the tournament with a win over New Zealand, things got out of control between Indo-Pak players on social media platform Twitter. Recently, Mohammed Amir tried to poke fun at Harbhajan Singh, however, things went too far between the two cricketers.</p>
