Mohammed Shami's heroics in the last over saw India defend 11 runs off it as the hosts fell short in the 187-run chase at The Gabba in Brisbane.</p>

<p>Shami, who was initially not a part of India's playing XI for the warm-up match, was called up by skipper Rohit Sharma to bowl the final over during Australia's innings with 11 runs to defend. Shami, who last played a T20I for India during the T20 World Cup last year, delivered an exceptional 20th over as he went on to pick three wickets.</p>

<p>Australia lost as many as four wickets on successive deliveries with Shami scalping three of them. He started off by conceding four runs off the first two deliveries before Cummins tried to go big on the third delivery and was caught by Virat Kohli on the boundary rope at long-on.</p>

<p>Kohli, who was stationed at the boundary rope, pulled off a one-handed screamer to send Cummins packing. It was a low full-toss from Shami which was pummelled by Cummins and the ball looked set to clear the ropes. After facing a defeat in the series-opener, Rohit Sharma & Co. bounced back strongly in the second T20I to level the series 1-1 and will be aiming to clinch the three-match rubber in the third and final encounter on Sunday. India won the rain-curtailed 2nd T20I by six wickets after comfortably chasing down the tricky target of 91 runs with four balls to spare in the 8 over-a-side contest. India will be hopeful of continuing their winning run in the series-decider on Sunday and will have some tough calls to make as far as the playing XI is concerned. Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya are likely to be the two all-rounders providing balance to the attack while Harshal Patel is also expected to get a consistent run in order to find his rhythm ahead of the T20 World Cup next month. With Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah back in the mix, India will have their best strength attack after a while in T20Is.
