IND vs NZ, T20 World Cup final: No Kettleborough! ICC names Illingworth, Wharf as on-field umpires

India T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav, after final T20I vs New Zealand on Saturday (Jan 31), revealed that he didn't touch his kit for nearly 10 days after the five-T20I South Africa series. India had won the SA series 3-1 (one match abandoned) but SKY could score only 34 runs in four matches - putting him under pressure leading into the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026. In the recently-concluded 5-T20I series against New Zealand, which India won 4-1 in last assignment before the T20 WC, skipper Surya roared back to form. He scored 242 runs in five matches with three fifties and a highest of 82 not out at an average of 80 and a strike rate of nearly 197. Before the NZ series, SKY had scored almost same runs in 25 matches - marking his return to form before India start their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign as defending champions.<h2>SKY reveals how he found his form before T20 World Cup 2026</h2>"When I got that break after the South Africa series, I went back home, packed my kit bag, kept it in the room and didn't do anything for nine-ten days," SKY had said after the fifth T20I vs NZ on Saturday. Ind vs NZ: India Wins T20 Series Opener Against Black Caps by 48 Runs

India started their 2026 T20I campaign on a winning note as they beat New Zealand in the opening T20I of the five-match series on Wednesday (Jan 21). Playing at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur, Abhishek Sharma was the star of the show as he scored 84 runs and completed 5000 T20 runs to help India win. After an exciting second match that helped the visitors level the three-match series at 1-1, India and New Zealand will now meet in the third and final ODI on Sunday (Jan 17), at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. With the series tied, the match is crucial as it will decide the winner. If New Zealand win, they will claim their first-ever ODI series victory in India, two years after winning their maiden Test series. Even though India lost the second ODI, the team still looks strong. Captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer have returned to good form, while Virat Kohli is batting well. KL Rahul has also been contributing useful runs in the later stages. However, former captain Rohit Sharma, who has scored in the 20s in both matches so far, will be hoping for a bigger knock.
