Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief Jay Shah has responded to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja's proposal of a four-nation 'T20 Super Series' involving both India and Pakistan. Shah has played down the chances of the series getting materialised anytime soon stating that the BCCI's focus is on helping cricket expand globally which is a huge challenge for all major cricket boards.

PCB chief Raja had come up with a unique proposal earlier this year. He batted for a T20 Super Series involving India, Pakistan, Australia and England and said the profits from the tournament can be shared with all ICC members on a percentage basis. India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral cricket since the 2012-13 season due to the ongoing political tension between the two nations.

India and Pakistan have since continued to meet only in major ICC events. Any meeting between the arch-rivals is highly anticipated by cricket fans across the globe and the game between the two sides becomes a mega affair in any major ICC tournament. While the PCB is making all the efforts to resume bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan, BCCI has so far maintained a strict stand.

BCCI secretary Shah labelled Raja's proposal a 'short-term commercial initiative' while speaking to Reuters. The BCCI secretary asserted that the board will prioritise the expansion of cricket across the globe over such short-term initiatives.

"With the IPL window expanding and the ICC (global) events every year in the cycle, our primary responsibility is to safeguard bilateral cricket at home, with emphasis on test cricket," Shah told Reuters.

"I am also looking forward to seeing cricket at the Olympics, as that will help the game grow. Expansion of the sport is a challenge that our game faces and we must prioritise it over any short-term commercial initiative," he added.

A separate revenue model with profits to be shared on percentage basis with all ICC members, think we have a winner," PCB chief Raja had said in a tweet in January this year.

India and Pakistan last met in the T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE last year where the Babar Azam-led Men in Green defeated Virat Kohli & Co. comprehensively by ten wickets to get off to a winning start in the tournament. With the win, Pakistan had also brought an end to their losing streak against India in World Cup matches.

Team India superstar Virat Kohli had recently interacted with the players of the Indian U-19 team ahead of their final clash against England in the recently-concluded ICC U-19 World Cup 2022. India went on to beat England by four wickets in a thrilling final in Antigua to lift the U-19 World Cup trophy for a record-extending fifth time.

It was a memorable tournament for the young guns, who went to become champions while remaining unbeaten in the tournament. The Yash Dhull-led side bowled exceptionally well in the final to bundle out England for 189 runs and chased down the target with 2.2 overs to spare.

In the lead up to the final, Kohli took some time out from his busy schedule to catch up with the U-19 players and gave them some valuable inputs ahead of the final. During the interaction with Dhull & Co., Kohli was asked about his weakness by young fast bowler Ravi Kumar. The former India captain came up with a witty reply to the left-arm seamer.

Ravi himself opened up about his interaction with Kohli ahead of the final and revealed the former India captain jokingly asked him if he had already started training to get him out when the youngster queried about his weakness as a batter.

“I asked him what is his weakness. And he replied, ‘kyun abhi se out karne ki training kar raha hai kya’ (Why? Have you started training to get me out already, laughs)?,” Ravi told the Indian Express.

He soon made his international debut for the Indian team and went to establish his credentials as one of the greatest ever. Kohli is also the most successful captain for India in Tests with 40 wins from 68 matches. He recently stepped down as the Test captain of the side and is no more the skipper across any format of the game.

India will be taking the field in their 1000th ODI when they lock horns with West Indies in the first ODI of the upcoming three-match series against Kieron Pollard-led side. The first ODI of the series will be played on February 06 (Sunday) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India have so far played a total of 999 ODI matches having won 518 games while losing 431. Ahead of the Men in Blue's historic 100th appearance in the ODI format, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar said it is an achievement that the entire nation should be proud of. Sachin said the historic achievement was possible only because of the contributions of the past and present cricketers of the Indian team. He also credited the BCCI for making India a force to reckon with in world cricket. The Master Blaster also lauded the fans, who have constantly been behind the Indian team over the years. "India playing the 1000th ODI is a huge milestone. The first ODI was played in 1974, it was only possible because of the past cricketers, current cricketers, the past and current board members," Tendulkar said, as quoted by 100 MB. "And not to forget the most important people, our Indian cricket team well-wishers, from the past generations and the ones who are today with us. "I want to say it is an achievement for all of us and the entire nation should be proud of this and hope Indian cricket continues to grow from strength to strength. I wish them all the very best for the coming series and especially for the 1000th ODI," he added. South Africa Test skipper Dean Elgar said that the Proteas are supporting their coach Mark Boucher, who is going through the allegations of misconduct.

The disciplinary hearing into allegations of misconduct against Mark Boucher has been postponed to May 16-20 as the coach wants to call some players on his behalf and these players will be part of the Tour of New Zealand and Bangladesh Tour of South Africa.

"We`ve realised cricket comes first for us irrespective of what our head coach is going through but we are still supporting him through this process because we know how much value he adds to our system and our group," said Elgar as reported by ESPNcricinfo.

"We`ve had these tough times before. We need to stick together, which we`ve done in the past, and let this process follow its course. We know we are there to play cricket; we are there to win matches, win series and that`s ultimately the way I view it.

Despite the BCCI confirming the final list of players to go under the hammer, there remains uncertainty over the availability of some players from England and Australia. The board is yet to inform the ten franchises about the exact duration of the foreign players' participation in IPL 2022.

There are doubts over the availability of some England and Australia players due to international commitments. The upcoming season of the IPL is expected to begin in the last week of March, however, Australia will tour Pakistan in the same month with the white-ball series beginning from March 29. The matches will end on April 05.

If the likes of David Warner, Marcus Stoinis, Steve Smith and Pat Cummins among others are part of the tour, they will also miss at least the first week of action in IPL 2022. England, on the other hand, have a three-match home series against New Zealand beginning from June 02 and the ECB might call back a few Test-bound players in May to prepare for the Test series.

Cricket will mark its return to the Commonwealth Games after a gap of 24 years with India taking on Australia on July 29 in the 2022 Birmingham edition. The league-cum-knockout women's tournament kicks off with a match between women's 2020 T20 World Cup finalists Australia and India on July 29, with the bronze and gold medal matches scheduled for August 7.

Cricket is the first discipline to announce its complete line-up for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games after Sri Lanka was confirmed as the eighth team in the women's T20 tournament, the ICC said on Tuesday.

The announcement was made jointly by the International Cricket Council and the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) following Sri Lanka's victory in the Commonwealth Games Qualifier in Kuala Lumpur last week and the subsequent CGF ratification of the island nation's entry.

Australia, Barbados, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan have already qualified as women's cricket makes its first entry into the Commonwealth Games.

It will only be the second time that cricket features in the multi-discipline event after a men's competition was part of the Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998 and is considered a massive opportunity to bring the game to new audiences.

A Shaun Pollock-led South Africa had won the gold on that occasion, beating Steve Waugh's Australian side by four wickets in the final.

ICC Hall of Famers Sachin Tendulkar of India, Jacques Kallis of South Africa and Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka were among the many stars featuring in the 1998 Games.

Barbados and Pakistan are in Group A along with Australia and India while England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka form Group B.

The ICC, CGF and Commonwealth Games Sri Lanka congratulated Sri Lanka for their qualification and looked forward to an exciting tournament.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said: "It's good to have finalised the identity of the teams participating in the Commonwealth Games. We will have eight of the best teams competing for the gold and I am sure we will get to watch a highly competitive tournament.

"The Commonwealth Games are an important part of the women's cricket calendar over the next year. It is a huge opportunity for us to take cricket beyond the traditional strongholds and give more people around the world the chance to enjoy the game."

CGF President Dame Louise Martin said: "Cricket is a sport synonymous with the Commonwealth. We are so excited to have it back in the Games for the first time since the men's 50 over competition at Kuala Lumpur in 1998.

"The debut of women's T20 cricket will be a historic moment and a wonderful showcase of women's sport across the world."

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games, being held from July 28 to August 8, will see 4,500 athletes from 72 nations and territories compete across 11 days.

Birmingham 2022 will be the first major multi-sport event in history to award more medals to women than men.

2022 Commonwealth Games: India to take on Australia in opening game as cricket returns

Red ball domestic cricket in India will make a much-awaited return after two years when the league stage of the Ranji Trophy is held from February 16 to March 5, as per the revised scheduled prepared by the BCCI.

The BCCI was forced to postpone the premier domestic tournament due to rising COVID-19 cases in the country. It was originally scheduled to start from January 13. The tournament couldn't be conducted last year due to the pandemic.

BCCI sources told PTI that the likely venues for the 38-team event are Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Trivandrum, Cuttack, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Baroda and Rajkot, which means nine separate bio-bubbles will be created.

The format has been tweaked and there will be eight groups of four teams each with the plate group comprising six teams.
Teams which fail to advance to the next stage will end up playing only three games compared to five in the original format, effectively impacting the players' match fee.

No red ball domestic cricket has taken place in India since the Ranji Trophy final in March 2020. Domestic cricketers, who were compensated for cancellation of Ranji Trophy last season, had expressed elation when BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced last week that the red ball event will be held in two phases. The knockouts will be held in June.

The Ranji Trophy, which was cancelled for the first time ever in its rich history, is crucial not only for the financial security of the players, match officials and groundsmen, but it is also the backbone of Indian cricket.
The lack of red ball cricket was making the players desperate with some of them using the uncertain period to play club cricket in the UK.

"Every domestic cricketer in the country is not thinking about the league phase or knockouts, no one is thinking about bubble or COVID, they just want to play.

West Indies defeated England by 17 runs in the final fifth T20I on Monday (January 31) to clinch the five-match T20I series 3-2. The hosts went on to defend a total of 179 runs against the Moeen Ali-led side to bounce back to winning ways after losing the penultimate game by 34 runs.

West Indies were under significant pressure heading into the series after a disappointing show in the T20 World Cup 2021 last year. The Pollard-led side had failed to make it to the knockout stages at the showpiece event before rumours of an alleged rift between Pollard and some players in the team surfaced.

However, the hosts kept the controversies aside and turned up in the final T20I to clinch an emphatic win against England. Skipper Pollard was delighted with the win and decided to surprise the fans by starting his post-match interview by singing a song.

The superstar all-rounder sang a few lines of the famous song 'Solid as a rock' written by Jamaican musician Sizzla. "I say, they can’t keep a good man down. Always keep a smile when they want me to frown.," Pollard was heard singing on the mic as he began his post-match interview.

Talking about the game, West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. In reply, England were bundled out for 162 runs as they fell short in the run chase by 17 runs to lose the game and concede the series. James Vince (55) and Sam Billings (41) played two brilliant knocks but their efforts were not enough for the visitors, who kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

While Jason Holder continued his fine form with the ball with a five-wicket haul, Akeal Hosein picked up four wickets to wrap up a comfortable win for the hosts.

Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has urged the Indian team management to end their quest of finding a fast-bowling all-rounder who can contribute in both departments. Over the last few years, India have tried a number of pace all-rounders like Vijay Shankar and Shivam Dube among others who have failed to cement a spot in the team.

The search seemed to have ended after star all-rounder Hardik Pandya's international debut in 2016 as he went on to shone with the bat and the ball to become an integral member of the squad across all formats. However, Pandya's career has gone downhill since back surgery in 2019 as he has refrained from bowling regularly.

Hardik's fitness issues led to the Indian team once again looking for fast-bowling all-rounders, who can contribute well. Venkatesh Iyer is the latest all-rounder to find a spot in the Indian team after his heroics for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 last year. While the expectations are huge from Iyer, he is yet to prove himself at the biggest stage.

In the recently-concluded ODI series against South Africa, Iyer played the first two games where he managed only 24 runs before being dropped for the third and final encounter. In his debut T20I series against New Zealand, the left-hander batter had scored only 36 runs in two matches.

With India failing to find an all-rounder, who can be a long-term option, Gambhir has asked the team management to drop the search and focus on the players available. The former India opener believes the team management should not try to create something that they can't create.

"If you don't have something, don't go for it. You have to accept and move on. Don't try and create something which you can't create, that is where the problem lies," said Gambhir on Sports Today.

Gambhir also criticised the idea of grooming a player at the international stage. Many have suggested that Venkatesh Iyer is currently being groomed as a finisher for the Indian team. Gambhir said India have been searching for a genuine fast-bowling all-rounder since Kapil Dev and that the team should move on.

"I have always believed that international cricket is all about delivering and not grooming someone. Grooming happens in domestic and India A level. When you represent your country, you should be ready to go out there and perform straightaway," said Gambhir.

"We keep talking about not having an all-rounder since Kapil Dev to be honest. So move on and try to develop people at the Ranji Trophy and once they get ready, get them in international cricket and stick with them. Don't keep changing them quickly. We have seen that with so many guys like Vijay Shankar, Shivam Dube and now Venkatesh Iyer. We need to move on," he added.

Former England all-rounder Tim Bresnan has announced his retirement from cricket, his County Club Warwickshire Cricket confirmed on Monday.

The 36-year-old had received his Warwickshire Cap in April last year and the player became a key part of the team through key contributions with bat and ball.

"This has been an incredibly tough decision, but after returning to winter training I feel that this is the right time. I have continued to work hard throughout the off-season to prepare for my 21st professional year, but deep down I feel I can`t reach the high standards that I set myself and my teammates," Bresnan said in a statement as per Warwickshire County Cricket Club (WCCC).

"The hunger and enthusiasm that I have for the game I love will never leave me, but whilst my head is willing to tackle the 2022 season, my body is not."

"The hunger and enthusiasm that I have for the game I love will never leave me, but whilst my head is willing to tackle the 2022 season, my body is not." As per Warwickshire Cricket, across his First-Class career, Bresnan scored 7,138 runs and picked 575 wickets with seven centuries and nine five-wicket hauls. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has cast doubt on the future of Team India's senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The right-arm fast bowler has not been at his best for the last couple of years and has struggled with form and fitness. With intense competition for a slot in the pace attack and many young pacers waiting in the wings, Bhuvneshwar's spot in the Indian team has been questioned by many.

India have a number of fast-bowling talents, who can be a great fit in both Tests and limited-overs cricket with the likes of Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Chetan Sakariya and others among the options who can be looked at. With form not being on Bhuvneshwar's side, Gavaskar believes the future looks bleak for the senior fast bowler.

Bhuvneshwar was once one of India's first-choice fast bowlers across formats and has been a prolific wicket-taker. However, in the last few years, he has lost a bit of pace and has also not been effective in the death overs. Gavaskar said he is not sure of what the future holds for Bhuvneshwar while suggesting that he should be given a break.

The former India captain wants youngsters to get opportunities while Bhuvneshwar can go back and work on his basics to bounce back stronger. Gavaskar also suggested Deepak Chahar can be an ideal replacement for Bhuvneshwar in the Indian team.

“The one name that comes to my mind is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. I am not even sure what kind of a future he has anymore. He has lost out on pace, the accuracy he had at the start where he was getting the ball to move and get the wickets and then again towards the end over, the way he was coming and bowling, that has probably deserted him and it’s time for him to go back to the basics and work hard. That’s the one name that comes to mind,” Gavaskar told Sports Today.

“I think it’s time to look maybe at Deepak Chahar now. Younger man, who is pretty much a similar bowler, swings it both ways and bat handily down the order," he added.

Bhuvneshwar's career has gone downhill ever since his injury during the 2019 ODI World Cup. He has not been on top of his game since then and had picked up another injury during IPL 2020. While he has already lost his place in Tests, he is unlikely to be picked in India's ODI squad again after a disastrous outing against South Africa in the recently-concluded three-match series.

Bhuvneshwar, however, has been named in India's T20I squad for the upcoming home series against West Indies. He was snubbed from the ODI squad for the three-match series against Kieron Pollard-led side.

Rising T20 sensation M Shahrukh Khan and his state-mate, orthodox left-arm spinner Ravi Srinivas Sai Kishore, will be joining the Indian white-ball team as stand-by players for the upcoming six-match series against the West Indies.

Both Shahrukh and Sai Kishore played a huge part in Tamil Nadu's victorious campaign and their call-up is more of a precautionary measure in COVID-19 times when there is every possibility of a player from the main squad testing positive.

"Yes, Shahrukh and Sai Kishore have been called as stand bys for the Windies series. They will also enter the bubble with main team players," a senior BCCI official confirmed the development to PTI.

The limited overs series starts in Ahmedabad on February 6 with a three-match ODI rubber followed by three T20 Internationals in Kolkata.
For Sai Kishore, this is the second opportunity in an Indian team set-up after he was part of the net bowlers' group during a tour of Sri Lanka under Rahul Dravid last year.

Shahrukh, who was in contention to make it to the main squad, has been in the news this season for scoring runs at critical stages, including a last ball six against Karnataka, to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final.

It was the same match where his colleague Sai Kishore got three wickets.
Similarly, against the same opponents in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final, he smashed 79 off 39 balls and his contribution in the final against HP was 42 off 21 balls.

While he might have to wait for his turn as head coach Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma give enough chances to the men who are above him in the pecking order of finishers, he can fancy an opportunity when the big guns are rested as the season progresses.
Ditto for Sai Kishore, who will be joining more as a net bowler with Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar and Axar Patel in the set-up.

Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya said he has always rushed his preparations in the past, keeping the interest of the Indian team in his mind. However, this time around the all-rounder decided to take time off and work on recovering fully before playing for India again. Pandya was last seen in action for India during the T20 World Cup 2021 last year.

Pandya, who grew into one of the vital cogs of the Indian team soon after making his international debut in 2016, faced a huge setback in his career when he had to undergo back surgery in October 2019. He has since refrained from bowling regularly and has played majorly as a batter for the Indian team.

Pandya, who bowled only a handful of overs in the T20 World Cup 2021 due to his back issue, had decided to take time off and focus on his recovery after the conclusion of the showpiece event in the UAE last year. The all-rounder said he is working hard to make himself available for selection in the Indian team once again.

“I have always rushed myself with my preparation keeping the team’s interest in mind. But this time I wanted some time off to prepare myself physically and mentally. I also wanted to take some time off for my family. We have spent a lot of time in bio bubbles, though everyone has tried to make us feel comfortable, staying in a bio bubble is very tough”, said Pandya was quoted as saying by Economic Times.

The 28-year also cited bio-bubble fatigue as one of the reasons why he opted for the ongoing break. Hardik said he wanted to spend some time with his family as playing in bio-bubbles since 2020 has not been easy for the all-rounder. He missed the home series against New Zealand post the T20 World Cup and was also not part of the Indian squad for the South Africa tour.

“You spend a lot of time away from your family and that eventually takes a toll on you. I wanted time off to reflect on myself and understand which areas I need to work on and concentrate on improving those things. I am doing two sessions every day. I have always worked hard in silence and will continue to do so," said Hardik.

Pandya is also set to miss the upcoming limited-overs series between India and West Indies at home, and is unlikely to take part in the Sri Lanka series as well.

I have always worked hard in silence and will continue to do so: Hardik Pandya on his return from injury

England fell agonisingly short of a record target in test cricket after Australia staged a remarkable fightback to draw the one-off women`s Ashes test at Canberra`s Manuka Oval on Sunday and take a 6-4 lead in the multi-format series.

Set 257 to win in 48 overs, the visitors had looked on their way to a famous victory on the back of a devastating 52-run stand between Natalie Sciver (58) and Sophia Dunkley (45) before late strikes from Australia meant they finished on 245-9.

The chase would have needed them to beat the previous best of 198 set by Australia more than a decade ago.
On a final day that had its share of twists, England lost six wickets for 27 runs after Annabel Sutherland (3-69) and Alana King (2-39) turned the match in Australia`s favour with half an hour to go.

"Brilliant test match and I thoroughly enjoyed it," said England captain Heather Knight, who was named player of the match for her knocks of 168 not out and 48.

"I don`t think it deserves a draw in the end, does it? But delighted the way the girls fought and it is really pleasing."

Australia earlier declared on 216-7 after resuming day four on 12-2, with Beth Mooney top-scoring with 63 and Ellyse Perry (41) and Ashleigh Gardner (38) making crucial contributions.

Australian skipper Meg Lanning said: "I still didn`t know what happened in the last hour. We declared wanting to take those 10 wickets. Obviously, England batted really well but proud of the way we got back into the game taking wickets."

The two sides next play a three-match one-day international series, which starts in Canberra on Thursday. England need to win all three games to regain the Ashes.

Mitchell Starc wins maiden Allan Border medal; Ashleigh Gardner secures Belinda Clarke award

Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels Ravi Shastri's recent comments clearly have an agenda behind them. Manjrekar, who has played for Shastri for the Indian team during his playing days, said he admired the former India head coach for being supportive towards youngsters and being a fighter during his playing days.

However, Shastri's recent comments on cricketing affairs have left Manjrekar unimpressed. Shastri had recently said Virat Kohli could have continued to captain India in Tests for another couple of years and become the most successful captain of all time in the longest format but many wouldn't have been able to digest his success.

Kohli stepped down as India's Test captain earlier this month with 40 wins to his name in 68 matches as a skipper in the longest format. He is India's most successful captain of all time in Test history. Reacting to Shastri's comments about many not being able to 'digest' Kohli's success, Manjrkar said it was not an 'accurate cricketing observation'.

"I don't have an idea. I was a huge admirer of Ravi Shastri. I played under him, he gave players support, a great fighter, senior. This Shastri 2.0 I don't understand. What he says in public is expected, I don't react to it", Manjrekar told News18.

"I don't want to be disrespectful. He doesn't make very intelligent comments, you can see the agenda behind it. It's not an accurate cricketing observation," he added.

Kohli had announced his decision to leave India's Test captaincy, a day after the team's 2-1 defeat in the Test series against South Africa. The decision had sent shockwaves across the cricket fraternity as Kohli had earlier expressed his desire to continue leading India in Tests and ODIs when resigning from the T20I captaincy last year.

At the time of leaving T20I captaincy, Kohli had said he wanted to manage his workload going forward and was thus giving up the leadership role in the shortest format. He was later replaced by Rohit Sharma as ODI captain as the selectors wanted one captain to lead in white-ball cricket. After being sacked as ODI captain, Kohli also decided to quit Test captaincy.

Asian Games 2022: 40 sports to feature, cricket to be back after 11 years

Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar believes cricket has become too batting-friendly in the current era. Regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, Akhtar lashed out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the current rules in international cricket which have given batters around the world too much leverage.

Rules such as the use of two new balls, adequate reviews for the batters and the limitations on bouncers are making cricket a one-sided game, as per Akhtar. The former Pakistan pacer jokingly suggested that the legendary Sachin Tendulkar would have scored 1 lakh runs had he been playing in the current era.

Akhtar lauded Sachin for scoring an exceptional amount of runs despite playing against some of the best bowlers in the history of cricket. Sachin is the leading run-getter in international cricket with a staggering 34,357 runs in international cricket across formats. He is the all-time highest run-getter in both Tests and ODIs.

"You have two new balls. You have made the rules stricter. You give so much leverage to batsmen nowadays. You now allow three reviews. If we had three reviews during the time of Sachin, he would have made 1 lakh runs," Akhtar said during a chat with former India head coach Ravi Shastri on his YouTube channel.

“I really pity him. The reason I pity Sachin is he initially played against Wasim (Akram) and Waqar (Younis), he played against Shane Warne, then he faced (Brett) Lee and Shoaib (Akhtar), and later he played the next generation of fast bowlers. That's why I call him a very tough batsman,” he added.

Akhtar believes cricket has become batting-oriented these days and the old charm of fast bowlers flying in and bowling full throttle against the batters has evaded.

“It's very batting-oriented cricket nowadays. Earlier, As a batsman, even you would enjoy fast bowlers approaching you with hair flying, bowling bouncers," said the former Pakistan pacer, who troubled some of the best batters of his era with his raw pace.

Akhtar picked 444 wickets across all formats in international cricket. He continues to remain associated with the game as an expert and never shies away from sharing bold opinions of cricketing matters.
