After receiving the feedback from the staging associations at the recently held AGM in Ahmedabad and the subsequent discussions with my colleagues at the BCCI, I am pleased to announce an increase in the hosting fee for Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament for 2020-21 season from the existing INR 250,000 to INR 350,000," Shah said.

"Further, the Participation Fee payable to all the participating teams is also hereby increased from INR 50,000 to INR 75,000 for Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament for 2020-21 season. I think every board should take cognizance of it and take strict measures to ensure such acts aren't repeated," he said.

More than half of the Rs 4,017.11 crore the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earned under "income" during the year came from the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) -- Rs 2,407.46 --&nbsp;as per the balance sheet that is still not in public domain while the accounts of 2019-20 are still not ready.

However, it is pertinent to note that the BCCI is involved in several high-profile litigation cases, with Income Tax department, erstwhile IPL Kochi and Deccan Chargers franchises, Sahara, Neo Sports, and the World Sports Group etc. If all these cases/arbitrations go against the BCCI, it will be in deep trouble and may end up paying through its nose. 
 
During FY 2018-19, the second biggest income of BCCI came from grant of media rights of the Indian team -- Rs 828 crore. At the same time, the BCCI incurred an expenditure of Rs 1,592.12 crore during the year.

The BCCI`s net worth was Rs 5,438.61 crore at the end of FY 2014-15, and at close of 2015-16, the financial year during which it earned a massive Rs 2,408.46 crore, its net worth rose to Rs 7,847.07 crore. Then, the board breached the Rs 8,000-crore mark in 2016-17, taking its net worth to Rs 8,431.86 crore. And in 2017-18, the board added a colossal Rs 3,460.75 crore in just one year to take its worth to Rs 11,892.61 crore. And, now, after the finalisation of the 2018-19 balance sheet, the worth has shot up to Rs 14,889.80 crore. 
 
"As per the Societies Act, under which the BCCI is registered, it should submit its balance sheet within six months of the end of each financial year, besides sharing it with its members (state associations), and the International Cricket Council. Without submitting its balance sheet with the ICC, the BCCI will not get its share of distributions from the world body," a source told IANS. 
 
The BCCI`s net worth includes, amongst other heads, its bank balance, fixed deposits, and fixed assets etc. Of the BCCI`s Rs 14,489.80 crore net worth, as on March 31, 2019, the main sources include general fund that stands at Rs 3,906.88 crore and earmarked funds, which are Rs 3,243.41 crore. 
 
Apart from the IPL, the other main sources of income in 2018-19, according the balance sheet, were the men`s senior international tours/tournaments hosted in India (Rs 446.26 crore), interest from the banks (Rs 290.73 crore), and income from the ICC/Asian Cricket Council (Rs 25.03 crore).

Over the last few years, the BCCI`s income has gone up chiefly because of the sale of the media rights of the Indian team -- bilateral Tests, ODIs, and T20 matches played at home -- the IPL media rights, national team (jersey) sponsor; and series sponsor. 
 
The BCCI`s broadcast rights holder, STAR India, pays Rs 43.20 crore per international match played in India. During FY 2018-19, the BCCI hosted 22 international matches,&nbsp;seven Tests, 10 ODIs, and five T20s ? which makes it Rs 950.40 crore. 
 
STAR India also owns the IPL media rights having made a historic bid of Rs 16,347.50 crore for five years (2019-2022), and this translates into Rs 54.50 crore per match.

It seems like the comments made by Queensland's Health Shadow Minister Ros Bates' regarding quarantine guideline set for the fourth Test in Brisbane has caused a bit of turbulence in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the Indian board feels that the team's image has been shown in poor light by the Australia authorities and media.

After such comments, the BCCI is rethinking if it should turn the Border-Gavaskar Trophy into a three-match series and end the series with the Pink Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), scheduled to start on January 7.

A BCCI official, speaking to ANI, said that the comments from Bates should have been avoided with both BCCI standing united with Cricket Australia to ensure that the tour goes ahead without any hitch. The official said that it is hurtful if a public representative doesn't want the team to go and play while adding that the hosts are propagating a view that the Indian team doesn't wish to follow the rules.

"The statement made by the public representative portrays Indians in poor light and let me assure you, we do not want to do anything other than to abide by the rules, and Rohit Sharma`s strict quarantine is a case in point. To try and propagate a view that we don't wish to follow the rules is unacceptable and the tone and tenor, in which it was said seemed rife with hostility and bordered on racism. It is, therefore, not a surprise that a rethink is on the cards.

Former Indian skipper and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Saturday has undergone angioplasty and is stable now, experts in the medical team said. Ganguly was admitted to a Kolkata hospital this afternoon after complaints of chest pain. 
 
"Sourav Ganguly is stable after undergoing angioplasty. He is conscious and stable now. He has a minor cardiac issue while doing some workout in his home gymnasium," said Saroj Mondal, the head of medical team treating the BCCI chief. 
 
The doctor said that Ganguly was immediately moved to the hospital and all necessary medical treatments were provided. "He underwent angiography and angioplasty. He is now stable. There are multiple issues for cardiac attack. He will be able to join his daily activities soon," said Mondal, who also heads the cardiology department of the state-run SSKM Hospital. 
 
Sources said that there are two more blockages in his heart for which he will be treated. A stent insertion has been done as 90 per cent blockage was found in one of his arteries. He will be monitored for the next 48 hours. 
 
Ganguly suffered a sudden blackout following mild chest pain during a workout session at his Behala residence this morning. He called up his family doctor who advised him to get admitted to a hospital immediately. He was moved to Kolkata`s Woodlands Hospital at around 1 pm. 
 
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted: "Sad to hear that Sourav Ganguly suffered a mild cardiac arrest and has been admitted to hospital." Banerjee also wished him a speedy and full recovery. "My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family," the CM said. 
 
Sources close to Ganguly said that an ECG test was conducted upon him after he was rushed to the hospital. He is now stable and out of danger. A troponin-T test was also performed upon the BCCI chief at the hospital to determine the cause of his sudden chest pain. 
 
A medical team, led by state-run SSKM Hospital`s cardiology department head Saroj Mondal, is looking after Ganguly`s health check-ups at the hospital. He was shifted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) bed from the emergency observation ward, sources said. 
 
West Bengal urban development and municipal affairs minister Firhad Hakim and minister Arup Biswas went to the hospital to enquire about Ganguly`s health. West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar also paid a visit to the hospital along with his wife Sudesh Dhankhar. 
 
"I am expressing my best wishes for the speedy recovery of Sourav Ganguly. He lives in our hearts and we all have great regard for him. He has performed for the country in a manner that makes us proud. The moment I got the news I got in touch with the hospital authorities and they told me about his health ailment. He is being well looked after," the Governor told media persons at Raj Bhavan.

"At this point, the 10-team IPL, if BCCI intends to conduct it in 2021, will be a hurried one given that the tendering process and a mega auction will be difficult to organise in such a short span of time," a senior BCCI official told PTI on the eve of the meeting.

"It is only fair that the approval is taken and the big 94 match tournament is held in 2022," he said.

<h2>Tax exemptions for World T20:</h2>

There's only a week left for the BCCI to meet the ICC's deadline of giving complete assurance that the global body will get full tax exemption for holding the World T20 in October-November or else it will be shifted to the UAE.

While there has been a precedence of exemptions during earlier global events, the current tax laws won't allow an exemption for a sporting event and it will be interesting to see what will be the BCCI's stand on the issue.

Rajeev Shukla`s candidature for the post of the Indian cricket board`s vice-president was on Friday declared valid, along with those of Brijesh Patel and M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar, who would continue as councillors after nominations were also declared valid. 
 
Earlier, Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) president Rohan Jaitley, whose late father Arun Jaitley and Shukla famously got along well despite having different political affiliations, proposed the name of the former Indian Premier League governing council chairman for the post. 
 
Election for only three vacant posts was scheduled to be held during the December 24 AGM of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). However, now that there would be no contest, all have been effectively elected, barring a formal announcement from Achal Kumar Joti, Electoral Officer of the BCCI. Although candidates could withdraw their nominations on Saturday, that wouldn`t be required now. 
 
The post of vice-president fell vacant after Mahim Verma quit the post and returned to his home state, Uttarakhand where he was elected as secretary of the state`s association once again. The term of the two councillors was one year and election was due for these posts. 
 
As per the timeline announced by Joti, a former Chief Election Commissioner of India, a formal announcement of a list of contesting candidates would be made on Saturday, and that would effectively be the declaration of the results, which were originally to be declared during the AGM, in case of a contest(s). 
 
Shukla, also a former secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA), was disqualified from voting at the BCCI AGM last year after the then Electoral Officer found him to have not completed his three-year cooling-off period. He was, however, never required to vote at the AGM as all office-bearers were elected unopposed after four groups within the BCCI joined hands to avoid contests, and see off the rule of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators. 
 
Rohan Jaitley, who was elected president of the DDCA last month, proposed the name of Shukla, a Director in UPCA, and Verma, secretary of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), seconded it. It is widely believed that Shukla controls CAU. 
 
Interestingly, Shukla is a member of the Congress party while the Jaitley family`s affiliation is with the BJP, and two parties are ideologically poles apart. But, historically, party lines blur seamlessly when politicians share the platform at the BCCI or at its affiliated state associations.

Shah has now also revealed that the five T20Is will also be held in Ahmedabad. “5 T20I matches will be played in Ahmedabad’s Motera stadium,” he said. Five T20I against England will help Virat and Co. prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is set to be played in India in October-November. The Indian team is currently in Australia where they recently won the three-match T20I series. Now the side would be in action in the four-match Test series, starting from December 17 in Adelaide. The Supreme Court on Wednesday disposed of a "substantial number" of interlocutory applications, filed by state cricket associations, in the cricket reforms case. But a ruling on continuation of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah, and joint secretary Jayesh George, whose terms have got over, was deferred to the next year.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed an application in the top court, seeking crucial amendments to the Supreme Court-approved constitution, framed by the SC-appointed Lodha Committee.

The court on Wednesday asked the case to be listed in the third week of January.

"A substantial number of applications were disposed by the court today. A large number of cases that were related to funds have become infructuous while the court said that in the state cricket associations where the amicus curiae (Narasimha) had successfully mediated and helped their hold elections, like Karnataka, were also disposed of," Narasimha told IANS after the hearing.

"Only some cases remains, and the court asked these to be listed in the third week of January. The BCCI application seeking amendments to its constitution was not taken up today," he said.

It means that Ganguly, Shah, and George would continue in the chair in 2021, despite their terms having got over the past few months. Interestingly, the BCCI will be having its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) on December 24, and Ganguly would chair that meeting, with Shah and George in attendance.

The new BCCI constitution makes it mandatory for its office-bearers -- president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer -- to go into a three-year cooling-off period after being in the chair for six consecutive years, either in the BCCI or its affiliate state associations, or a combination of both.

The person can return for another term of three years after the cooling-off period (a person can be an office-bearer in the BCCI for a maximum of nine years and another nine years in a state association). And this is one of the seven crucial rules, on which the edifice of the new constitution is erected, and which the BCCI wants amended, and that would allow the present office-bearers to continue in the chair.

After being elected BCCI president on October 23 last year, Ganguly had only 278 days to remain as the BCCI chief as his previous tenure at the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) was added to his BCCI term (he had joined the CAB as a joint secretary on July 2014). So, his BCCI term effectively ended on July 26, 2020.

Secretary Shah, according to reports published in mainline newspapers in 2013, took over as joint secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) on September 8, 2013, though he was a GCA executive before that. And he has been associated with the GCA since. So, his tenure, too, has got over some time ago.

George has been a secretary, joint-secretary, and treasurer of the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) for five years and has completed one year as BCCI joint secretary. In September last year, at the time of KCA elections, he was quoted in newspapers as saying: "I was an office-bearer from June 21, 2013, to July 7, 2018. I still have 11 months to complete the six-year term."

He took a break between July 7, 2018, and September 14, 2019. On September 15, 2019, he became KCA president, a post he relinquished when he became BCCI joint secretary on October 23, 2019. That means he has completed six years continuously as a cricket administrator, excluding the break. Accordingly, he should have gone into cooling off period on September 14.

All three officials are, however, staying put as they are awaiting Supreme Court's directions on their application that seeks to affect seven amendments to the new BCCI constitution that the apex court has approved. Essentially, their bid is to get rid of Rule 45, which makes it mandatory for the BCCI to get all amendments approved by the Supreme Court, amended.

If this single rule is amended, the spirit and soul of the reforms would die an instant death. And the crores of rupees that BCCI has spent on litigation and the seven-and-a-half years that Supreme Court has devoted to this case would go down the drain. If the amendment takes place, the beneficiary would not only be Ganguly, Shah, and George, but all other present and future office-bearers, both at the BCCI and its affiliated state cricket associations.

Both, Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah have been in office despite completing their respective tenures in July and May this year.&nbsp;

According to new BCCI constitution that was approved by a three-judge bench headed by former CJI Dipak Misra in August 2018, Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah and joint-secretary Jayesh George should have been 'cooling off' now after serving six years continuously in a state association or the cricket board.

BCCI treasurer Arun Singh Dhumal filed a petition in April in complete defiance of the new constitution. The petition urges six changes in the new constitution which includes a three-year cooling-off period on the office bearers to be abolished.

The case was last came up in July but was put away amid pandemic as it was considered to be a low-priority matter. However, a new three-judge bench comprising Justices Rao, Hemant Gupta and Ajay Rastogi wanted to hear the case on December 1 along with other cricket cases.&nbsp;

Justice Patnaik, who had removed N. Srinivasan from being BCCI president for his proximity to Chennai Super Kings, had told Outlook that "Ganguly was not indispensable," and cricket should be "free from the clutches of politicians."

According to the retired judge, BCCI officials were flouting the rule book.&nbsp;

"It was fate accompli once the constitution was approved in 2018. Several CJIs have heard this case and if the BCCI has its way, then it will be death of the Lodha reforms," he said, adding that BCCI was only prolonging a result that was decided long ago.

The entire incident surrounding Rohit Sharma and his fitness could have been handled better and pretty easily, feels former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir. There has been a bit of outrage from fans on social media after the way the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) handled Rohit’s situation during IPL 2020, which might even force him to sit out of the entire Australian tour due to hamstring injury.

While Rohit is nearing his 100 per cent fitness, the strict quarantine rules in Australia could see Rohit unable to make it to the Indian squad in time for the third Test. The next assessment of Rohit’s fitness is set to be done on December 11 in the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, India after which the board will take the call on his status for the last two Test of the series.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the BCCI has requested Cricket Australia to allow Rohit to train during the 14-day quarantine phase. Both the cricket board would require a clearance from the Australian government.

Rohit went on to play the last three matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 for Mumbai Indians despite not being at his 100 per cent fitness. However, the BCCI didn’t clear the scene as to why the Indian opener played despite not being fit. Even skipper Virat Kohli had questioned Rohit’s absence by saying they thought he would in flight to Australia.&nbsp;

“The Rohit Sharma situation could’ve been handled pretty easily since there wasn’t any need for too many people to get involved. Only the head physio, head coach and chairman of selectors were to be involved in the injury case. Had there been clear communication with the 3, it would’ve been enough. Of course, Virat Kohli was to get updated at every step through Ravi Shastri,” Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports show Cricket Connected.

“Rohit Sharma is a very valuable player in Test matches. So I would’ve kept him in the chain, subject to fitness, would’ve definitely kept him in the picture. Secondly, you could’ve sent him with the team after that, keeping the quarantine rules in mind. Because there is a 14-day quarantine, in the soft quarantine since you have been in the bubble in UAE. Then you move to another bubble [in Australia]. In soft quarantine, you can practice, train with teammates, hit the gym.

But when you’re taking a commercial flight to Australia, you won’t be allowed to go out of your room and mingle and come in contact with people. So, I believe, the BCCI should’ve thought of this in hindsight,” Laxman said on the show.

Meanwhile, Australia bagged the series 2-0 after winning the first two ODIs in Sydney and will look to clean-sweep the series when they take on India at Canberra on Wednesday.

The Indian duo of Rohit and Ishant need quarantine relaxation if they are to be part of the four-match Test series against Australia, starting December 17.

Speaking to ANI, sources said that Ganguly will try and find a solution to the issue related to Rohit and Ishant after discussion with Cricket Australia. Both Rohit and Ishant are undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru with an eye on the four-match Test series.

The current quarantine guidelines might make it impossible for the two to reach Australia and be a part of the Test series as, under existing rules, they will need to completely isolate themselves and cannot train in the quarantine period. "&nbsp;

The rest of the Indian cricketers were allowed to train during the quarantine period because they moved from one bubble - in Dubai - to the other - in Sydney. So, relaxation will be needed if the two are to be a part of the Test series," the source explained.&nbsp;

There is a belief that the former Indian captain can find a solution as he has done so many times on the field. While NCA head Rahul Dravid had earlier said that Ishant would be fit in time for Test series, there are question marks whether he would be able last the entire series. Whereas, Rohit reportedly needs a couple of days to be 100 per cent fit.

Notably, the BCCI had added Rohit to the Test squad at the eleventh hour and decided to rest him from the limited-overs series against Australia. "The BCCI Medical Team has been monitoring Rohit Sharma's fitness and has briefed All-India Senior Selection Committee on the same. In consultation with Sharma, it has been decided to rest him for the ODIs and T20Is in Australia to regain full fitness and he has been included in Ind in India's Test squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy," the BCCI said in a release on November 9.&nbsp;

The Test series is set to commence from December 17 in Adelaide in what will be the day-night Test between India and Australia.
