<p>This decision comes in the wake of the disagreement between the FEUOK and the ‘Avatar: The Way of the Water’ makers over the profit-sharing terms. The &nbsp;body of Malayalam cinema termed the new conditions of the makers of the Hollywood blockbuster as “unusual.”</p>

<p>In a statement, K Vijayakumar, the president of FEUOK said, “It is not being banned here. We cannot accept their terms and conditions. They are demanding unusual pay from single-screen theatres in Kerala. That we cannot accept. We are not going to ban any films. But, we are not going to release Avatar 2 in Kerala. We are expecting negotiations from their side,”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reportedly, the bone of contention between them is the 60% share of revenue they are asking for. Theatre owners in Kerala are not ready to go beyond the regular 55% share of revenue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The decision will affect ‘Avatar: The Way of the Water’ release on about 400-odd screens across Kerala.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film is slated to release on December 16 this year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kate Winslet can be seen at the bottom of a production pool walking across the floor with her wings spread wide. She is performing as Ronal, a character who is a "water person."&nbsp;</p>

<p>As the team behind the ‘Avatar’ sequel is shooting tirelessly&nbsp;to complete the shooting schedule, we have our hands on to some amazing behind-the-scenes visuals.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The latest series of pictures are photos from a trip that the cast took to Hawaii to prepare for filming. It’s estimated that these pictures would be dated anywhere three years old as work on ‘Avatar 2’ had started way back.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reportedly, the purpose of the entire crew going to Hawaii was to "experience the underwater world" that Avatar 2 will be exploring. The pictures include Sigourney Weaver post-dive, a trio of actors playing new characters, and the entire Sully family including Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, and the actors who play their characters' children.</p>

'Avatar' sequel resumes filming in coronavirus-free New Zealand

<p>As New Zealand returned back to its normal life after lifting the lockdown, and beating coronavirus, international visitors have not been welcomed in the country yet.</p>

<p>However, a charter plane carrying nearly 60 film crew was welcomed in Wellington, drawing criticism from the opposition political leaders.</p>

<p>Right-wing party, ACT, leader&nbsp;&nbsp;David Seymour called this "an insult to working New Zealanders."</p>

<p>“What are the rules at the border? At the moment, it seems that if you’re a friend of the Government, you’re in business. If not, you’re on your own. There should be one rule for everyone... It’s unacceptable for politicians to be picking and choosing who can enter the country," he told the local media.</p>

<p>Pointing out the injustice between the exemptions,&nbsp;Seymour said many other industries, were depending in these special exemptions to bring back their skilled labourers back to the country to get the businesses up and running again. However, those businesses have been unable to get permissions.</p>

<p>"It certainly would seem some are not getting that same treatment. There must be a lot of small businesses wondering if there are different rules for different people... why does this particular venture get preferential treatment?," said&nbsp;National Party economic development spokesperson Judith Collins.</p>

<p>The crew flew in from Los Angeles to Wellington on an Air New Zealand Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, according to local news agencies. The crew has reached New Zealand to shoot Avatar and another secret un-named project.</p>

<p>“The two production companies met the criteria, providing employment to around 600 New Zealanders, and because of the significant level of economic activity from each production," Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment's Iain Cossar told local reporters, explaining how the projects needed to be shot in the country&nbsp;"as key cast are committed to future projects".</p>

<p>Producer Jon Landau posted on Instagram about his arrival in&nbsp; the country that won the battle against COVID-19. The crew has been quarantined for 14 days.</p>

<p>Officials have confirmed that all the cases were judged individually, without being lobbied by the studios. The candidates had to have a highly unusual talent or skill, and the project had to be time-sensitive. The projects are being assumed to provide a big financial boost to the country.</p>

<p>The team is in quarantine at QT Hotel on Cable Street in Wellington.</p>

Avatar 2 crew resumes shooting in New Zealand; opposition calls it political favoritism

<p>As lockdown eases worldwide amid coronavirus, the international crew of James Cameron’s film ‘Avatar 2’ have got special permission to shoot in New Zealand. <p>This comes at a time when New Zealand has closed the country’s borders as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. This is a special permission granted to the filming crew. The borders have been closed since March 16.</p>

<p>While many from the entertainment industry are happy about the development, some people are upset at others not being allowed to come back amid easing of lockdown.</p>

<p>Jon Landau, James Cameron’s producer, posted an Instagram picture of them arriving at Wellington international airport. They were both taking precautions as they were seen wearing face masks and plastic face shields. Jon wrote, “Made it to New Zealand. Our 14-day government-supervised self-isolation now begins.”</p>

<p>According to a Deadline report, the combined budget of the film is over $1 billion (Rs 7500 crore).</p>

<p>Earlier this year, makers had announced the release dates of the upcoming sequels to the hit film. They go as follows: ‘Avatar 2’ on December 17, 2021; ‘Avatar 3’ in December 2023; ‘Avatar 4’ in December 2025; and ‘Avatar 5’ in December 2027.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Cameron has said that he hopes for the second film to meet its release date, despite the unexpected delay.</p>

<p>James Cameron had said in an earlier interview, “It’s putting a major crimp in our stride here. I want to get back to work on Avatar, which right now we’re not allowed to do under state emergency laws or rules. So it’s all on hold right now. We were about to shoot down in New Zealand, so that got pushed. We’re trying to get back to it as quick as we can.”</p>

<p>“On the bright side, New Zealand seems to have been very effective in controlling the virus and their goal is not mitigation, but eradication, which they believe that they can do with aggressive contact tracing and testing,” he explained. “So there’s a very good chance that our shoot might be delayed a couple of months, but we can still do it. So that’s good news.”</p>

<p>The filmmaker also added, “We’ve got everybody – everybody at Weta Digital and Lightstorm – working from home to the extent that that is possible. But my work is on the stage doing the virtual cameras and so on, so I can do a bit of editing, but it’s not great for me.”</p>
