Babar Azam-led Pakistan started their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign with a bang, beating India by 10 wickets in match 4 of the Super 12 round on Sunday evening (October 24). Being asked to bat first, Virat Kohli-led India managed only a modest 151-7 riding on Captain Kohli's 57 as Shaheen Afridi's 3/31 stunned the Men in Blue. In reply, Babar's 68* and Mohammad Rizwan's 79 not out completed the run-chase without dropping much sweat.

Pakistan will now aim for making it two wins in a row as they face Kane Williamson-led New Zealand, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Tuesday evening (October 26). This is being regarded as a 'grudge match' for the Men in Green as they were humiliated after Black Caps suddenly cancelled their tour of Pakistan, minutes before the tour-opener, to leave Pakistan Cricket in shatters.

Ahead of the face-off, former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra feels that a Pakistan victory would really help India, making the Pool B group a place to survive for New Zealand.

'They'll help India if they defeat New Zealand' - Aakash Chopra opines on Pakistan's 'grudge match' in T20 WC

India opened their campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, in the UAE, by locking horns with their arch-rivals Pakistan in match 4 of the Super 12 round, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Sunday evening (October 24).

Ahead of the match, many former cricketers and experts of the game had predicted India's victory courtesy their 12-match unbeaten streak in World Cup history over Pakistan (including ODIs and T20Is). However, Babar Azam-led Pakistan produced a memorable performance to stun the Indian team by ten wickets, with 13 balls to spare.

Being asked to bat first, Virat Kohli-led India managed a competitive yet below-par 151-7, riding on Kohli's 57. Shaheen Afridi's 3 for 31 and Haris Rauf's 1 for 25 starred for the Men in Green whereas the entire unit showed great character and energy on the field. In reply, Babar's 68* and Mohammad Rizwan's 79* took Pakistan home, without dropping any sweat.

Speaking of India, there are plenty of concerns for the one-time winners as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul fell for cheap whereas Suryakumar Yadav got a start before departing and Ravindra Jadeja couldn't create any impact with the bat, despite being promoted up the order. With the ball, the likes of Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Varun Chakravarthy went for runs and the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Jadeja couldn't be among wickets despite their economical spells.

Aakash Chopra, India's former opener-turned-commentator, opined that Bhuvi's form is India's main concern going forward as he is not 'looking effective anymore'. He told on his Youtube channel, "Bhuvneshwar Kumar is not looking the same bowler. He has had his struggles with injury, but whenever he has played this year (in IPL, Sri Lanka series, and the warm-up games), he never looked the same. Bhuvneshwar has lost his pace and cannot get the ball to swing as much. He's not looking effective anymore," Chopra said.

"It never felt like a wicket is around the corner when Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bowling. Earlier, he was able to move the ball sideways and induce false shots. It isn't happening anymore. Even with his slower deliveries and wide yorkers, it seems he is only trying to control the flow of runs. So, this is going to be an issue," the former Indian opener further added.

T20 WC: Aakash Chopra names Indian player who is 'not looking effective anymore' after PAK loss

Ahead of the much anticipated T20 World Cup clash between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised a "big concern" for Virat Kohli & Co as he expressed his views on the all-rounder Hardik Pandya's bowling. During the recently concluded IPL 2021 campaign, Pandya didn't bowl a single over during Mumbai Indians' campaign.

In a video uploaded on his Youtube channel, Chopra said, "Hardik Pandya not bowling is a big concern because India will have to go in with only five bowlers and won’t have a sixth option. Virat Kohli might have to bowl, like in 2016. That is something that is going to hurt India. If Hardik can somehow start bowling a few overs, it will be very good for India. In T20s, you want that extra bowling option up you sleeve."

"I only see Ravichandran Ashwin playing if India go in with three spinners or there are too many left-handers in the opposition. Jadeja will definitely play. He has grown in stature as a bowler but he is not your gun T20 bowler," he added.

Before the T20 World Cup tournament, cricket pundits had suggested a rejig in the Indian squad, however, the team management has repeatedly stated that Pandya's bowling is crucial for the team's balance.

However, commenting on Pandya's availability, Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday (October 20) said that the all-rounder is expected to be "ready" to bowl when the team starts its T20 World Cup campaign.

"Hardik is coming along pretty well, but it'll be a while before he will start to bowl. He hasn't started bowling, but he should be ready by the start of the tournament," said Rohit at the toss for the warm-up match against Australia that India won by nine wickets.

"We have quality in the main bowlers, but you need an option for a 6th bowler," he added. "Possibly, we need to find that sixth option. Myself, Virat and Suryakumar, all those guys need to come in and bowl to see who can be that sixth option," Rohit said.

During the warm-up match against Australia, India registered a convincing nine-wicket win while chasing 153. Pandya (14 not out off 8) came at four to finish the game and he did it with a clean hit over the bowler's head.

India had beaten England by seven wickets in their first warm-up game on Monday.

T20 WC: Aakash Chopra reveals 'big concern' ahead of India's high-octane clash against arch-rivals Pakistan

MS Dhoni failed to get going in Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) face-off versus the Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 50 of the IPL 2021 edition, on Monday (October 4) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. Being asked to bat first, CSK were off to a good start before they were reduced to 62-4 in no time.

Dhoni walked in to bat at No. 6 and had more than ten overs to play a big innings and return back to form. However, the 40-year-old CSK captain started off slowly and failed to time his shots to perfection as his innings comprised not even a single boundary. Dhoni departed for an uninspiring 27-ball 18 as CSK managed only a modest 136-5, mainly riding on Ambati Rayudu's 55 not out.

While the Yellow Army took the game deep during DC's run-chase, where Pant & Co. won by 3 wickets in the final over, many criticised Dhoni's knock for Chennai falling short of posting a winning total. Former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra has now come out in support of Dhoni amid heavy criticism.

Aakash Chopra told on his Youtube channel, “Dhoni came up the order and the team was just crawling. It is unfair to expect that Dhoni is going to bat as he did in 2011, 2015 or 2017. He is not striking the ball well and had a strike rate of 66.

You might say the 66 strike rate was okay, if it was then Ambati Rayudu should also have run at the same pace. But Ambati Rayudu was brilliant and he once again played a good knock to take his team to a competitive score but not a winning score."

For the unversed, Dhoni has been in miserable touch in the IPL 2021 edition. While CSK have qualified for the playoffs, Dhoni & Co. need to win their last league stage encounter to ensure a top-two finish and compete for their fourth IPL championship going ahead. Meanwhile, skipper Dhoni will be desperate to silence his critics with some vital knocks in the final round of the tournament.

"Morgan would have thought the same because it's been 11 innings and he's averaging 10. We are not seeing any great decisions in captaincy in your team selections and all of that either. So maybe it's time to bring Shakib Al Hasan in place of Morgan," he added.

"You can't play Seifert if you are not getting him to bat in the top-order. So replace him with Ben Cutting. Do something because you don't have Lockie so you've got to have at least five bowlers. Five bowlers plus Venkatesh Iyer is alright but four bowlers plus Venkatesh Iyer? It just doesn't make sense my friend. I honestly don't get how you can expect so much from him. He's doing well but he is not Superman," Chopra further said.

"When you write those names on the sheet, please see how many bowlers there are because there's no point in playing this much batting. You said you don't have the balance without Russell but you also said that there's a specific role for Ben Cutting. There won't be a better role than this. At least play him if you don't like Shakib. In fact, play Shakib too and tell Eoin Morgan, 'it's not working out'. It happens to everyone... but tends to hurt a little more if it's an overseas captain," he concluded.

Although they are struggling to enter the playoffs, KKR have impressed with their performance in the second half, and even their two defeats were narrow, where they lost in the last over.

Venkatesh Iyer has been the star performer with the bat in the second leg for KKR, while Rahul Tripathi has scored the maximum runs for the team this season. The decision to move Nitish Rana up the order has also paid dividends but Shubman Gill has not been able to capitalise on the starts. In bowling, Varun Chakravarthy has been their go-to man as he picked up six wickets in the second leg, while Sunil Narine too has been among the wickets.

In fact, play Shakib too and tell Eoin Morgan, 'it's not working out'. It happens to everyone... but tends to hurt a little more if it's an overseas captain," he concluded. The decision to move Nitish Rana up the order has also paid dividends but Shubman Gill has not been able to capitalise on the starts. In bowling, Varun Chakravarthy has been their go-to man as he picked up six wickets in the second leg, while Sunil Narine too has been among the wickets. But they have concerns in the pace department with Andre Russell and Lockie Ferguson missing games following injuries, forcing skipper Eoin Morgan to make changes. Even the KKR captain needs to get some runs under his belt. Tim Southee and Shivam Mavi is the new pace bowling pair for KKR and they will need to step up. Pacer Prasidh Krishna did well to snap four wickets in the matches that he had played, before being dropped for conceding 22 runs in the 19th over, against CSK. (With inputs from agencies)

It isn't an unknown fact that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni hasn't been at his best with the willow in IPL 2021. While his bat remained silent in the first leg, many expected him to deliver in the second and final leg. However, the 40-year-old remains in poor form in the UAE leg.

Although CSK have revamped in style, following their disastrous season in IPL 2020, the wicketkeeper-batsman's no-show with the bat is a cause of concern of the three-time winners as they are on cusp of entering the playoffs. Ahead of CSK's clash versus the one-time champions Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at Sharjah, on Thursday (September 30), former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra commented on Dhoni's lean phase.

New Zealand Cricket team (NZC) have abandoned their historic tour of Pakistan, on security grounds, just before the tour opener could get underway on Friday (September 17). The visitors have cancelled the tour and are set to return back home.

As per the board's official release, the tour has been called off due to a security alert. For the unversed, the Black Caps had arrived in Pakistan for a limited-overs tour, comprising three ODIs and five T20Is, after a long gap of 18 years. Their last international tour to the Asian country was in December 2003.

"The security officials with the NZ team have been satisfied with security arrangements made by the Govt of Pakistan throughout their stay here. PCB is willing to continue the scheduled matches. However, cricket lovers in Pakistan and the world over will be disappointed by this last-minute withdrawal," the NZC board's official statement read.

Following the tour cancellation, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has expressed his concerns for Pakistan cricket, who were now slowly getting on its feet with regard to hosting games on home soil. This might have serious consequences on the future tours to Pakistan. England-Australia and NZ (again) slated to travel to Pak in the next 12 months."

PCB and Govt of Pakistan made fool proof security arrangements for all visiting teams. We have assured the NZ cricket board of the same. The Prime Minister spoke personally to the Prime Minister of New Zealand and informed her that we have one of the best Intelligence systems in the world and that no security threat of any kind exists for the visiting team. Aakash Chopra fears 'serious consequences' ahead for Pakistan as NZ abandon tour on security grounds

Rohit Sharma was undoubtedly one of the best batsmen from Team India in the England Tests, in the United Kingdom. While the Indian opener has always been regarded as a limited-overs specialist, the 34-year-old has come to his own in his second innings in Test cricket ever since he was promoted as an opener in late 2019.

Playing his first series as an opener in England, Rohit showed great character and temperament to leave the balls outside off stump, curb his natural aggressive style of play and time his innings perfectly, versus the disciplined English bowling line-up. As a result, he ended the series with two half-centuries and also registered his maiden overseas ton in whites.

Lavishing huge praise on Hitman, former Indian opener Aakash Chopra wrote in his coloumn for ESPNCricinfo, "It took courage to make the radical changes to his game that we saw him make in England. While Rohit batted the way he was expected to bat in India in Tests, he changed his game radically to meet the demands of English conditions. He went against his natural instinct, which is to attack at the first opportune moment."

'Rohit knew this English summer had the potential to define his legacy as a Test cricketer'

He added, "Rohit's attempt to play a totally different brand of cricket to that with which he got all his international success reflected two things: nurture is as influential as nature, if not more; and he has a burning desire to succeed in Tests. He knew that this English summer had the potential to define his legacy as a Test cricketer. And it is remarkable that standing at such a crucial juncture so far into his career, he had the conviction to remould his game so drastically that he looked like a different batter altogether," wrote Chopra.

"In England, this summer Rohit seems to have taken a giant leap towards writing his legacy, an effort born of his love for the longer format," he concluded.

Shardul Thakur hogged maximum limelight for Team India on Day 1 of the fourth Test versus England, at Kennington Oval, London. After being asked to bat first, Virat Kohli & Co. were down and out at 120-7 before Shardul rose to the occasion with the bat and his fiery 57 propelled India to 191. While the score remains a paltry one, the visitors almost reached the 200-run mark riding on Shardul's counterattack.

Shardul's 57 was laced with 7 fours and as many as 3 sixes, at a whopping strike-rate of 158.33. At stumps on Day 1, England are on the back foot being 53-3 after Jasprit Bumrah's twin strikes and Umesh Yadav getting rid of Joe Root.

Following Shardul's fireworks, former Indian opener-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra opined on his performances and how he has always contributed in some way for Team India in the recent past. Chopra feels the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder is fighting hard for the all-rounder's slot for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.

On his Youtube channel, Chopra said, "He is not just scoring runs. He is asking you to pick him for the World T20 because he is bringing you that option. You obviously miss Hardik Pandya but if he is not there, Shardul Thakur is presenting himself as an option. Hardik might be a better batsman than him, no doubt, but he is a better bowler than Hardik. So he is saying that if you are searching for a package, he could be the guy."

He further stated, "When Rishabh Pant got out, I thought we are gone. But after that Shardul comes and shines. He did a fantastic job. Lord Shardul, again and again - Brisbane, he scored the runs. He was actually net bowler in that series but played the match, scored the runs and took wickets as well. Then in Nottingham, he got Root out in the first innings and Buttler in the second innings. He gives you the important wickets. Here you were 127/7 and he gave you a half-century in which he smashes the England bowlers quite a bit. You reach 191, it is just down to Shardul Thakur once again."

It will be interesting to see if Shardul gets picked in India's squad for the T20 World Cup, will be commence from October 19. For now, the all-rounder will like to continue in a similar stead and lead India to an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series in the United Kingdom.

Indian pacers struggled to find swing on Day 3 contrary to their opponents but tight spells by Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin brought the Indian team back into game. While Ashwin got rid of Tom Latham, Ishant Sharma used the pressure to dismiss Devon Conway.

"They (New Zealand) also have to look at where India were. They were 146 for 3, two set batsmen but come next morning, it's a different world altogether. The ball is moving again, you find the edges, India's tail hasn't wagged, the middle-order has collapsed and you haven't reached where you wanted to reach. Similar things can unfold tomorrow as well," Aakash Chopra told Star Sports.

"So from a New Zealand point of view, they know they are not out of the woods at all. Keep in mind, the moment you bowl first, you have to bat last and you have to bat the opposition out. So a 30-40 run lead is insignificant. You have to take at least a 150-run lead to make a match of it, seal the advantage of bowling first.

Cricket: WTC Final - More pressure on New Zealand than India after Day 3, reckons Aakash Chopra

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra has named his X-factor for Team India in the impending tour of the UK, where the Virat Kohli-led outfit will play the World Test Championship final versus New Zealand and five Tests against England. Chopra further agreed with Rahul Dravid’s assessment that India are well capable of defeating the Joe Root-led outfit on their home soil.

Former Indian skipper, Dravid had earlier predicted a 3-2 scoreline in favour of the visitors, and Chopra while weighing his opinion echoed the same sentiments as he said that this is a great opportunity for the Indian team to get a much-awaited Test series win on English soil.

“I definitely agree, who will not agree with Rahul bhai. There is weight in what he has said, whenever India goes out these days, it is their best chance. To be fair, the chances had become less in Australia because of so many injuries but we won there as well. If you can win there with half a team, hardly eleven players who could be fielded, then to defeat England in England, I think this is a great opportunity,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.

Cricket: Aakash Chopra names 'X-factor' for Team India in the tour of England

Aakash Chopra has communicated second thoughts about India and New Zealand being proclaimed as the joint visitors if the World Test Championship finale finishes in an impasse.

The ICC has finalized the playing conditions for the World Test Championship finale to be played among India and New Zealand in Southampton from June 18. The different sides will share the trophy if the match closes in a draw or tie.

On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra believed that it doesn't appear to be okay that a winner can't be announced for a competition that has run for a couple of years.

"If the final match is a draw, both the teams will be declared as the joint winners. I do understand that you do not want a tie-breaker but if it is a two-year-long tournament and still you cannot call a team the champion, it just does not sound right, personally, it leaves a sour taste in the mouth" - he said.

He likewise scrutinized the hold day being put to utilize just if the match is influenced because of the harsh climate and not in the event that one of the teams is on the cusp of triumph.

"Another thing is that a reserve day has been kept but that reserve day will only be used if the overs from the first five days are left due to the weather. The sixth day will not be used if the match ends when you needed say a couple of wickets and the opposition team required 125 runs" - he added.

Nonetheless, Aakash Chopra recognized that the match is probably not going to go past five days, particularly on the off chance that it is a marginally green pitch.

While talking about a portion of things to come changes that can be executed for the World Test Championship final, Aakash Chopra recommended that the match ought to be played till a possible winner is resolved and not limited by the number of days.

"Firstly, if you have kept an extra day, I would say add a seventh day as well, play for as long as you get a winner. I know it has not happened for a long while but timeless Tests used to be there. If you have already kept a sixth day, why not use it to get the result" - he said.

"Secondly, you can make it a three-match series. If you win the first two matches, it's over. The third match will only be played if you don't have a winner after the first two matches. If you play just the one Test, that too in an alien country, after a two-year-long tournament, that should not be the case" - he added.
For the current cycle, Aakash Chopra needs the group positioned higher in the points table to be pronounced as the winners in the event of a draw.

The Indian men’s cricket team is gearing up for the long tour of the UK, where the Virat Kohli-led side will not only play the ICC World Test Championship final but also a five-match Test series against England. However, the BCCI is in talks with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in a bid to tweak the much-awaited Test series and find a window for the postponed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

However, former England skipper Michael Vaughan gave his suggestions on how to resume the cash-rich T20 league, which was postponed after several cases emerged inside the bio-secure bubble.

"Simple solution. Play the First Indian Test a week earlier. No England Test players would then potentially play the 100 so fringe Indian Test players replace them. Then the IPL can finish. Good deal all round," Vaughan said on Twitter.

Former India opener turned commentator Aakash Chopra supported Michael Vaughan's idea. On his YouTube channel, he said: "I liked Michael Vaughan's suggestion a lot. If you are taking care of my interests, it is my duty to take care of your interests. So, if you start the Test series a week earlier, we will release our fringe players for The Hundred."

"They can have 4-5 Indian players for The Hundred. To date, no current Indian player has been allowed in any of the world's T20 leagues. But we make an exception for this one tournament," added Aakash Chopra.

"In the post-pandemic world, there is a realization that no one will be able to do anything on their own. Everyone will need the others' help sometime or the other. Everybody will have to look after each other. If you take the example of India's tour to Sri Lanka, more matches were added on the tour to help the Sri Lankan board else all these boards will become bankrupt," said Chopra.

Mark Boucher as of late uncovered that AB de Villiers has passed on to him that the last will adhere to his prior choice of not representing South Africa again at the global level. He contemplated that he would not like to take the spot of another meriting player.

While talking about AB de Villiers' worldwide vocation in a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra reviewed the inspiring acclaim the South African has gotten from Indian spectators, like the ones held for any semblance of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

"If we see Indian cricket's immediate span, Dhoni, Kohli, and Rohit are the three players who cause a roar when they enter the ground. I saw a similar standing ovation given to AB de Villiers before the match. It was as if he was an Indian" - he said.

"The kind of love and affection, and the admiration he has generated in Indian hearts. There are a few moments that get etched in your mind, which remain with you forever. This was such a moment which happened to me with regards to AB de Villiers during an India-South Africa match in Dharamsala" - he added.

Aakash Chopra pointed out that AB de Villiers has extraordinary numbers both in Tests and ODI cricket.

"His Test and ODI career numbers are wonderful. He scored 8765 runs in Tests at an average of 50.66. He reached close to ten thousand runs in ODIs, 9577 runs at an even better average of 53.50, and a strike rate above 100. That's phenomenal" - he said.

"But his T20I numbers, he has played 75 matches which are quite a few, but only 1672 runs in that at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 135. He did not hit a century and ten half-centuries. But if you see T20s, there is a difference in chalk and cheese between his T20I and T20 numbers. He is a runaway match-winner in T20s, he was the same player in Tests and ODIs but for whatever reason, his performances for South Africa in T20Is were not that good" - he added.

Aakash Chopra contemplated AB de Villiers probably won't have satisfied hopes in T20I cricket because of the colossal tension on him and the jobs he was allocated to play.

"It could be because the team was not winning and there was a lot of pressure on him but that happens with RCB also where the team does not win but he still does well. A little bit of paralysis by analysis. I remember a World Cup where his team decided that he does well when he comes after 10 overs" - he signed off.

Cricket: 'AB de Villiers has got a standing ovation as if he was an Indian': Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra has said that the Indian selectors can't look past Prithvi Shaw for the T20 World Cup, considering his solid form in IPL 2021.

Prithvi Shaw amassed 308 runs at a noteworthy average of 38.50 and an extraordinary strike rate of 166.48 in the eight matches he played in IPL 2021. He is second just to the Orange Cap holder Shikhar Dhawan in the list of top run-getters for the Delhi Capitals.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra believes that Prithvi Shaw ought to be in the Indian team's plan of things for the T20 World Cup after his endeavors in IPL 2021.

"If Prithvi Shaw continues batting like this, I feel will have to be considered for the World T20. You just cannot ignore him now because of the kind of form he has shown, the kind of runs he has put, and the fashion in which he has scored those runs," Chopra said.

"We had spoken earlier that Prithvi Shaw will be one of the finds of the tournament, that his strike rate will be the best. And he is standing there only. The way he has batted, six fours off six deliveries, it is not that easy to hit six boundaries in the first over," the former Indian batsman added.

Aakash Chopra said that Prithvi Shaw's stunning batting in IPL 2021 was likened to his presentation on Test debut against the West Indies.

"The way he has batted, the skills and fearless approach he has shown, he was taking risks but it did not seem like he was doing so. He has been absolutely sensational. We saw the old Prithvi Shaw, who had scored a century on his Test debut," he concluded.

Cricket: 'Cannot ignore him now': Aakash Chopra names a player Indian selectors can't look past

Aakash Chopra has commended AB de Villiers' dominating exhibitions for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2021 regardless of being made to bat lower down in the order.

AB de Villiers transcendently batted at No. 5 for RCB, with Glenn Maxwell sent in at No. 4. The methodology worked well as the pair arose as the most elevated run-getters for RCB in IPL 2021.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra named AB de Villiers a 'genius' for doling out praiseworthy exhibitions in his new job at No.5.

"AB de Villiers is a genius. It is because all of us were saying that he should be batted up the order because the more deliveries you give him, the more impact he will have. But RCB was sending him at No.5. If you are sending him at No.5, how will the team and he do well? "After that Shreyas Iyer if he is available. There is a talk of him playing county cricket but it would be better if you keep him for the six encounters here. Then Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan, although Mumbai Indians dropped him halfway through," added Aakash Chopra.
Aakash Chopra picked Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya to bat in the lower order and named Hardik as the vice-captain of his picked group.

Aakash Chopra picked Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as three of the frontline bowlers in his XI.

"After that Yuzi Chahal. Deepak Chahar whose performances have been outstanding with the white-ball. He should be given a chance in ODIs as well. If Bhuvi and he bowl together, our powerplay problem of not taking wickets can also be sorted out," said Chopra.

"After that Navdeep Saini, he has also been kept in cold storage. Neither India is playing him nor RCB. But I will keep him in my team because he was part of the team when India went to Australia and played a Test match also," - he said.

Aakash Chopra named Ruturaj Gaikwad/Devdutt Padikkal, Khaleel Ahmed or Jaydev Unadkat, and Kuldeep Yadav as stores for Shreyas Iyer, T Natarajan, and Varun Chakravarthy separately, if any of them is inaccessible.

"Sanju Samson and Deepak Hooda, I will keep both these players. Sanju Samson has been playing good cricket, scored a century this year as well. Deepak Hooda has shown that he can be an explosive batsman at No.6 or No.7 and he can bowl a bit of off-spin," Aakash Chopra concluded.

"I have picked Faf du Plessis first. He has batted amazingly well, scored runs consistently and at a good pace. I think with him will be Jos Buttler. His real form was seen in the 124-run knock against SRH. He was a little hot and cold before that but it was not that he was getting out for five runs. I have kept Moeen Ali at No.3. He made good contributions when he was sent to bat at No.3. At No.4, I have got Glenn Maxwell. RCB started to play him at No.4. We thought he will get stuck on the Chennai pitch but he batted well," said Chopra on his Youtube channel.

"At No.5, I have kept AB de Villiers. He is not your No.5 but when RCB kept him there, we all were surprised. At No.6, the start was slow, there was a knock of 40-odd but then the 87 against CSK, Kieron Pollard became the lord of the Kotla," Chopra continued.

"After that, I have kept Chris Morris. Whichever encounters Rajasthan won, his performance has been good, somewhere wickets and runs at other times. They were important runs. It might have been a short knock but a match-winning one. I was confused between Pat Cummins and Sam Curran, I am going with Sam Curran for the simple reason that he is value for money. "At No.10, I have got Rashid. I thought about Narine and didn't find any other good spinner in the overseas contingent. In the end, I have kept Trent Boult," signed off Chopra.

Sunrisers Hyderabad delegated Williamson as their skipper for the rest of IPL 2021 ahead of their match against the Rajasthan Royals. In any case, the move didn't yield the ideal outcomes as the Orange Army went down to Rajasthan Royals by 55 runs.

While assessing the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals clash, Aakash Chopra brought up that changing the skipper didn't bring any luck to the IPL 2016 champions.

"The sun has set for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their captain has changed but not their fortunes. They have won just one of their seven encounters. They changed the combination and played Nabi with Rashid," said Aakash Chopra.

The commentator said the fact that SRH got Mohammad Nabi as an all-rounder to the detriment of David Warner, he was not utilized successfully.

"But they didn't make him bowl at all and got very little batting as well because he came too low down. I mean it was as good as playing with three overseas players. Bhuvi was back but the form was missing for the other players," he Chopra.

Mohammad Nabi was given the ball just in the 15th over of the Rajasthan Royals innings and was taken for 21 runs around there. He was sent in to bat at No. 6, with the match nearly past Sunrisers Hyderabad's scope at that stage.

"I was a little surprised at Kane Williamson's bowling choices. He didn't give bowling to Nabi at all or gave just the one over, finished Rashid by the 11th over. I was slightly stunned," said Chopra.

"You had to finish the overs with Vijay Shankar at the end because the calculation had gone slightly wrong. You were waiting for a wicket to fall but that wicket did not fall," signed off Chopra.

The consolidated four overs bowled by Vijay Shankar and Mohammed Nabi for Sunrisers Hyderabad yielded 63 runs. The Rajasthan Royals batsmen pillaged 134 runs off the last nine overs, whenever they had seen off Rashid Khan's spell.

IPL 2021: 'Sunrisers Hyderabad captain has changed but not their fortunes': Aakash Chopra

Chennai Super Kings will seek redemption in IPL 2021 after putting a poor show in the 2020 season. The team led by MS Dhoni finished seventh in the Indian Premier League 2020 after getting 12 points from 14 games.

However, former Indian cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra made some bold predictions about Chennai as he felt that the team could face multiple issues during the upcoming season.

The COVID-hit season will be played in the caravan format and no team will play on their home ground. Due to this, Chennai will not play at the MA Chidambaram but will play five matches at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and play four matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Their three matches in the third leg will be played at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

They will end their league stage of the 2021 season at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

In a video uploaded by Chopra, he felt that Chennai Super Kings' combination will find it difficult to adapt to pitch conditions at the Wankhede Stadium.

"In Mumbai, the pacers are more successful. 70% of the wickets have been taken by pace bowlers and it's not particularly helpful to spinners and Chennai is a slightly spin-heavy team. They have Karn Sharma, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner. They bought Moeen Ali and Krishnappa Gowtham. So, the list of spinners in their team is still quite high. Despite letting Bhajji (Harbhajan Singh) and [Piyush] Chawla go, they are a spin-heavy unit.

"Their fast bowling doesn't have a lot of firepower. Yes, they have Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, Lungi Ngidi, Dwayne Bravo, and Josh Hazlewood. But is that going to be enough? What will be the ideal balance?" added Chopra.

Chopra went on to add that if Chennai led by MS Dhoni, wins even three out of these five matches, it could be counted as an achievement.

"You are required to score high in Mumbai. The first innings winning score is nearly 180. So, they'll have to play a different brand of cricket there. If Chennai Super Kings can win three of their first five games in Mumbai, I believe that will be a big achievement. My prediction is that they might not start very well," said Chopra.

Aakash Chopra, however, expects Dhoni and Co. to do well in Delhi as it is a small ground and assists a lot of spinners.

"They should be alright in Delhi because it's a small ground and it (the wicket) assists the spinner a lot. The ball turns and also keeps low at times. The pitch will suit their brand of cricket," added Chopra.

"They do not have a good-enough bowling attack for Bengaluru. Bengaluru is bat vs bat contest and the overall bowling firepower required there is not there with Chennai. So, Bangalore is going to hurt them again."

"Kolkata, [looks] even-stevens. It's become a high-scoring, pace-friendly ground as well. I think Chennai is going to face some difficulties there as well," added Chopra.

Bengaluru is bat vs bat contest and the overall bowling firepower required there is not there with Chennai. So, Bangalore is going to hurt them again." "Kolkata, [looks] even-stevens. It's become a high-scoring, pace-friendly ground as well. I think Chennai is going to face some difficulties there as well," added Chopra. Chennai are set to kick-off their IPL 2021 campaign against Delhi Capitals on April 10.

IPL- 'Might not start very well': Aakash Chopra predicts Chennai Super Kings' 2021 campaign

Rajasthan Royals have been struggling in this year's Indian Premier League. Despite a good start, RR witnessed a drastic fall in form and currently are second-last in IPL points table.

Their batting order has seen a decline as the tournament progressed. Former India opener Aakash Chopra has slammed RR’s batting order and said that the decision to open the innings with Ben Stokes and playing an explosive batsman like Jos Buttler at No. 4 makes no sense.

Chopra, on his YouTube channel, said: "Rajasthan Royals have an issue that their batting order is actually a disorder. Their batting order is beyond my understanding at this point of time because Jos Buttler, who is their best player is being sent at No.4 while they are opening with Ben Stokes, whose bat is not firing."

"The extent to which Ben Stokes’ bat has not been firing can be understood by the fact that he has played more than 100 deliveries and he is yet to hit a six. They have signed Ben Stokes and not Aakash Chopra that he is scoring with just the fours and singles."

Star all-rounder has failed to leave an impact on Royals this year. The Englishman has scored 110 runs as an opener for the team. But the strike-rate is concerning for the team.

"Rajasthan Royals had expectations from Ben Stokes but he is not able to deliver there but the entire innings is becoming slow. Because of that Sanju Samson plays a bad shot to get out as the pressure is mounting," he added.

"By the time Steve Smith comes to bat, the match is almost going out of their hands and in such a situation if Jos Buttler gets out, already you have reduced his effectiveness by giving him less overs to bat, then your whole boat sinks."
