Indian cricket is working towards its next goal - the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 - and Rohit Sharma is one name keeping the selectors and the team management thinking. Batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has turned cricket on its head with his exploits in his brief domestic, IPL and international career. Making his India debut at 15 against England in a T20I game this year, the left-handed opener is already tipped as the most exciting prospect in world cricket. His quickfire knocks, be it for India’s Under-19 team in the World Cup final or for his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, have made headlines, mesmerising all. So of course I would go into the boardroom, go upstairs and have a look. I'll put one on his badge and see what he does with it. He might hook me for six, but it won't discourage me from giving him another one.” Meanwhile, Sooryavanshi will next be seen during the Asian Games 2026 in Japan, where India will field a full-fledged T20I side to defend its crown.

His quickfire knocks, be it for India’s Under-19 team in the World Cup final or for his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, have made headlines, mesmerising all. Brett Lee, the former Australian quick and a bowling legend, was also in awe of Sooryavanshi’s talent and revealed how people outside India are constantly asking whether 'he’s really 15'. Lee said even though he doesn’t care how old Sooryavanshi is, watching him play and smash sixes the way he does brings him joy. Lee, who used to traumatise batters during his playing days with his express pace, added that Sooryavanshi is a great find for Indian cricket, predicting an explosive future for this rookie opener. 'Is he 15?' is probably the biggest talking point around the world. I don't care how old he is. If he's 15, fantastic, but if he's 17 or 18, who cares? This kid can play cricket. He has been such a great find for India, and he's going to go on to achieve bigger and better things," Lee said on the BeerBiceps YouTube channel. "He has already lit up the IPL in such a short space of time. That 97 he got (vs SRH), he was up against Aussie bowlers. They were bowling gas, and he was hooking them off his nose. He is playing proper cricketing shots and has power that he finds from somewhere. It won't be his form or batting; it'll only be his mind. He still has to be a kid. Let him be a kid and don't put too much pressure," he continued. How Would Lee Counter Sooryavanshi? Detailing how he would have bowled to Sooryavanshi, someone who likes to pull and hook the way he does, Lee explained, “If someone was a good hooker or puller of the ball, I used to love that because then it becomes a contest.

UEFA and FIFA Deny Allegations UEFA has refuted these claims in the latest development. "The payment was in line with the regulations that existed for departing staff at the time. Such regulations have been tightened since 2016 and the current staff regulations - which apply to all UEFA employees at whatever level - reflect those found in a modern, high-profile organisation,” a UEFA spokesperson said in a chat with Sky News. On the other hand, a FIFA spokesperson also denied all allegations levelled against the FIFA boss. "Any insinuation of inappropriate conduct or violation of statutes or regulations is defamatory," the FIFA spokesperson said in a statement to Sky News. Infantino worked at UEFA for close to two decades (from 2000 to 2016) before being elected as the FIFA president. "No employee at UEFA and FIFA has ever raised a complaint regarding Mr Infantino's behaviour because there never was an incident where he was involved. "All company actions related to employees, including any departure and severance packages, have always been approved by the appropriate directors in accordance with all applicable regulations," the spokesperson added.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino and UEFA have denied allegations regarding a six-figure payment and MBA sponsorship for an alleged secret lover during his time as UEFA general secretary.

Sri Lanka Cricket has announced free entry for fans at the Galle International Stadium and the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo for the two-Test series against India, beginning on Saturday (Aug 15) in Galle. Sri Lankan supporters have a reputation for turning up in large numbers and creating a lively atmosphere inside stadiums and free entry is expected to bring even more fans to the stands and add excitement to Test cricket, which has struggled to attract big crowds in recent years. The last time Sri Lanka hosted India, the home team secured a historic 2-0 ODI series victory. It was Sri Lanka’s first bilateral ODI series win over India since 1997. Sri Lanka will hope for similar support from the home crowd when they face Shubman Gill’s Indian side in the upcoming Test series. The matches will also be important for both teams as they continue their campaigns in the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. According to a report by Newswire, fans can enter the Galle International Cricket Stadium for free through Gate No. 4. At the SSC in Colombo, Gates 3, 4, 5 and 7 will be open for spectators.
