Indian Team batter Sarfaraz Khan has taken the internet by storm with his body transformation pictures, which he posted on social media, leaving the fans and former cricketers, including Kevin Pietersen, in shock. Often mocked and criticised on the internet for being overweight, Sarfaraz lost 17 kgs in two months, an unbelievable transformation. Taking to his Instagram handle, Sarfaraz posted a picture of his ripped physique following a strict diet fitness programme he deployed to shed extra weight. Pietersen, meanwhile, replied to an X post, lauding Sarfaraz for setting his priorities straight, further urging out-of-favour opening batter Prithvi Shaw to take a note of it and work on his fitness. Also read | BCCI confirms Nitish Kumar Reddy out of England series; Arshdeep to miss Manchester Test Sarfaraz looks unrecognisable, one of the social media users wrote; however, Pietersen’s words were more encouraging. Sarfaraz has been a domestic giant for a few years now. The right-handed batter earned his maiden India Test call-up early last year for the home Test series against England, scoring a debut fifty in Rajkot. He scored two more fifty-plus scores before breaking into the big category with his brilliant 150 - his highest Test score to date, against New Zealand in the Bengaluru Test late last year, but never got picked for India afterwards. Despite his unmatchable numbers in domestic cricket, he lost his place to all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and gloveman Dhruv Jurel, who also happened to be fitter than him. Things got worse when none of the ten IPL teams bid for him at last year’s November auction, while his younger brother, Musheer Khan, represented Punjab Kings in IPL 2024. Sarfaraz took it upon himself to work on his fitness and lose weight, which he achieved after working hard towards it and maintaining discipline throughout, impressing everyone, including Pietersen. On the other hand, Shaw, once a blue-eyed boy of Indian Cricket, is out of selection contention across all levels, more so for his lack of fitness discipline than his cricketing form. Although Sarfaraz seemed to have taken the correct steps to gain top fitness, there are no signs of Shaw doing the same in his quest to make an India comeback.

Often mocked and criticised on the internet for being overweight, Sarfaraz lost 17 kgs in two months, an unbelievable transformation.

His dominance over the past two years has been such that once he birdied the first hole, it seemed as though the chasing pack had already lost any belief of challenging. Scheffler, who took a lead he would never relinquish with a seven-under 64 on Friday, extended his run of successive top-10 finishes to 11 events. That streak now features four wins, including the PGA Championship and British Open titles. The American, who led by four shots overnight, became only the second world number one to lift the Claret Jug after Tiger Woods, completing the third leg of a possible career Grand Slam. Harris English finished in a distant second place, ending the tournament on 13-under courtesy of a closing round of 66. Chris Gotterup completed a dream fortnight after last weekend's Scottish Open triumph, carding a 67 to end a shot further behind in third. Home favourite Rory McIlroy could not launch a serious charge, with his challenge finally snuffed out by a double-bogey on the 10th hole. He had to settle for a tie for seventh place on 10-under and a standing ovation from his thousands of fans surrounding the 18th green. "None of us could live with what he (Scheffler) had this week, but for me to be in front of everyone here at home and to get that reception up the last, absolutely incredible," said Masters champion McIlroy. Scheffler's slip-up Scheffler made three birdies in his first five holes to serenely reach 17-under for the tournament, opening up an eight-shot chasm. Gotterup climbed into second on minus 11, with a group of four players, including McIlroy, one shot further back. Scheffler holed long par putts on the sixth and seventh holes to stay in total control, but slipped up with a double-bogey on the eighth after it took him four shots to reach the green. It was the first time he had dropped shots since the 11th hole of his second round on Friday. But he showed why he rarely lets 54-hole leads slip on the ninth, with a trademark precise iron shot setting up another birdie. From then on, it was a procession for the 29-year-old as he parred every hole on the back nine except for a routine birdie on the par-five 12th. Scheffler had raised eyebrows before the tournament when he suggested his pursuit of dominance on the course was an "unfulfilling life" that only provides fleeting moments of satisfaction. He tapped in on the 18th green to tick off another achievement on his seemingly unstoppable path to golfing greatness, raising his arms in celebration before embracing his wife and young son. "I don't think we thought the golfing world would see someone as dominant as Tiger come through so soon, and here's Scottie sort of taking that throne of dominance," said Xander Schauffele, whose title defence ended in a tie for seventh. English and Gotterup, playing together in the third-last group, battled it out for second place over the closing holes. English, who also came second to Scheffler at this year's PGA Championship, grabbed the runner-up honours again thanks to birdies on the 16th and 17th holes. Ahead of the Premier League 2025–26 season, Manchester United’s new signing Matheus Cunha reflected on how it feels to join the club and recalled his early memories of watching United. He also named the players who inspired his playing style growing up. Speaking exclusively on JioHotstar, Matheus Cunha reflected on his move to Manchester United. The Brazilian said, “It is hard to find words to describe this moment. It is a dream come true. Sometimes, it is difficult to believe I am really here. This club has always meant something special to me. There is a funny story — back home in Brazil, we could only watch the Premier League at my grandma’s house because neither, my house nor my cousins had the channel. So, every weekend, we would plan to watch matches at her place. My cousin, who is older than me, supported Manchester United. He was the one who introduced me to the Premier League — and to United. Even when we played on the gravel pitches back home, which is very common in Brazil, I would imagine playing for United. To be here now, and to think back to those moments — it is incredibly emotional.” On the Manchester United icons, who shaped his love for the game, the 26-year-old said, “Wayne Rooney was the one I looked up to. I have tried to bring elements of his game into mine — the way he gave everything, went to ground to win the ball, and still had the skill and impact up front. He wore the number 10 shirt and led by example. Of course, there were others — Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, Van der Sar. That entire team left a big mark on me during my teenage years. All my focus is on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top," he signed off.

The Brazilian forward was an exciting buy from Wolverhampton Wanderers, on the back of a remarkable 2024/25 season that saw him score 15 goals in the Premier League for the Molineux club

"I would love to do it again," he said during a ring interview. Pacquiao, whose last win came in 2019, had been regarded as a heavy underdog against his taller, rangier opponent from Texas. But the Filipino eight-division champion, one of the most beloved fighters of the era, showed little sign of being troubled for long periods. Fighting in flurries and landing crisp combinations throughout, Pacquiao consistently looked the busier fighter during the early and middle rounds. Barrios, by contrast, appeared tentative, reluctant to risk going toe-to-toe early on against the experienced Filipino. Yet for all of Pacquiao's craft, he was unable to seriously hurt Barrios, who regrouped impressively in the later rounds to connect with several jabs and do just enough to force the draw. Barrios, 30, retained his belt despite being dominated for several rounds by Pacquiao, making a comeback to the ring after a four-year retirement.

Barcelona are closing in on a sensational move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford as the England star is all set for yet another new chapter in his career. Rashford, who is out of favour at United under manager Ruben Amorim, will spend a season on loan at Barcelona after a deal was struck between the two clubs. Ahead of the switch, let us analyse why it is a win-win situation for all parties, including both clubs and the player.
New chapter for Rashford
Having started his career at United, Rashford has scored over 100 goals for the Red Devils, earning a reputation as the fans' favourite among the faithful. However, his disciplinary issues were brought to light once Amorim took over as United manager in November 2024. As a result, Rashford was first frozen out of the squad and later sent on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of the 2024-25 season. Rashford’s latest move to Barcelona means he will stay away from the club temporarily, meaning a return to United is still a possibility if Amorim gets sacked in the future. The forward will also play Champions League football at Barcelona, improving his chances of an international return with the FIFA World Cup less than a year away. ALSO READ | After Antony, Jadon Sancho is Bryan Mbeumo another recipe for disaster at Manchester United?
Why United are in win-win situation?
As things stand, the 27-year-old has three years still remaining on his United contract, meaning the Red Devils can negotiate for a heavy price if they intend to sell him in the next year. If that is the case, it will help United balance the bank sheets while Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations get tightened. In case the England forward returns after a loan spell and Amorim is sacked, United could still do with his services for at least the remaining two years of his contract.
Barcelona’s temporary solution
Like United, Barcelona are also troubled with the FFP regulations in Spain, which has seen them in danger of registering players. Barcelona had to win a court battle to register Dani Olmo for the second half of last season, hinting at their desperation for a temporary deal. Had they signed Nico Williams, they would have needed to sell at least one of their star names to get the player registered. However, in Rashford’s situation, they can register him as one of the loanees, keeping sports free for permanent transfers.
