The WWE fans might have to wait longer for the dream match between behemoths of The Bloodline – The Rock and Roman Reigns, discussed internally to happen at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Going by the latest reports, the two biggest crowd pullers will face at the ‘Showcase of the Immortals’ but not at the next one, as the current WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes is set to headline Night 2.

The Rock vs Roman Reigns was penned for WrestleMania 39, but because Rock and the WWE failed to work on the dates, it couldn't happen. One year later, for WrestleMania 40, the creative again pushed for this marquee match, but with the crowd turning on the Rock and Triple H (the COO) for not giving Cody his chance against Roman despite him winning the Royal Rumble, it led to the scrapping of this idea again.

The WWE, however, worked on having all top faces headline Night 1, as The Rock and Roman Reigns faced Seth Rollins and Rhodes in a tag match. Although both played their parts to perfection, which resulted in their win, Roman accidentally spearing The Rock raised eyebrows, leading to the storyline between the two.

Meanwhile, the main event on Night 2 was between Roman and Rhodes, with the American Nightmare, with the help of Seth Rollins, John Cena and the ‘Deadman’ The Undertaker, handing Reigns his first defeat in a title match in three years. With that win, Cody accomplished his goal of ‘finishing the story’ and winning the WWE title.

The Rock’s opponents at next two WrestleMania

The Rock, who was scheduled to face Roman Reigns at next year’s Mania, could now face Cody Rhodes on Night 2, per WRKD Wrestling. However, the idea of a Rock-Roman WrestleMania match is not scrapped entirely, as that will take place at WrestleMania 42 in London, UK.

Per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the two matches that could headline WrestleMania 41 are probably Roman Reigns vs Solo Sikoa & The Rock vs Cody Rhodes. Per his words, the creative team floated this idea since this year’s Mania.

“The top two matches of WrestleMania 41 are probably Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa, and The Rock and Cody Rhodes. That’s been known since WrestleMania 40. Since the day after WrestleMania. They’re booking way ahead as far as the key stuff,” Meltzer reported.

Meanwhile, the Brahma Bull teased his match against Cody Rhodes on RAW after Mania, saying that though he will be on a hiatus now, he will return to challenge Cody irrespective of his champion status. On the other hand, Roman returned at the SummerSlam 2024 to reclaim his Tribal Chief status from Solo Sikoa.
