PGA Championship start delayed after man killed by shuttle bus near Valhalla
The PGA Championship was temporarily put on hold on Friday (May 17) after a pedestrianwas killedin an unfortunate bus accident. Amid the ruckus,World No. 1 golfer Scottie Schefflerwas briefly detained.
The incident occurred early morning and saw the organisers delay the start on Fridayas a result. An unknown man suffered fatal injuries near the Shelbyville Roadsouthwhichis near to the Championship venuewhichthen put the start on Friday on hold.

A statement from Louisville Metro Police Department read: "About 5:00 ET this morning, the LMPD responded to a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a bus.
“Our preliminary investigation found that an adult male pedestrian was crossing Shelbyville Roadsouth to north when he was struck by a shuttle bus that was travelling eastbound in the compulsory centre lane dedicated for buses.
"As a result, the pedestrian received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.”

At the scene of the incident, first responders and several police were still present when the man was declared dead after suffering the injuries while it was6:45 AM. Traffic was slightly put on hold after the accident while shuttle bus services were put on holdwhichcarried the fans to the golf course.

A PGA Championship statement read: "The start of Round 2is delayeddue to a serious accident near the course. The next update will be at12pmBSTandthe starting time will be at least one hour after an updateis made."
PGA of America officials said play will begin at8:35 a.m. ET. The second round hadbeen scheduledto start at7:15 a.m. ET.
Interestingly, World No. 1 golfer Scottie Schefflerwas briefly detainedby Louisville Metro Police while trying to drive into the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club, the site of this week's PGA Championship andthe place where the incident took place.
