Paris Olympics 2024: When and where to watch Nadal vs Djokovic clash?

On Monday (Jul29), Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will face each other in the second round of the men's singles at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 edition. Nadal and Djokovic will resume their rivalry once again, having last met in the 2022 French Open quarterfinals. Back then, Nadal got the better of his Serbian rival and went on to win the championship. Since then, the Spaniard has been plagued with injury concerns whereas Djokovic has been inconsistent with the rise of youngsters. This will be the 60th face-off between the two stalwarts and can possibly also be their last face-off.

In terms of head-to-head, Djokovic holds a slight edge over Nadal, leading 30-29. Meanwhile, Nadal has a solid lead over the Serbian in clay court encounters, where they will once again battle on Monday. Nadal leads 20-8 in this aspect and will start as a slight favourite with the upcoming encounter at the Roland Garros. During their last face-off in the Games, Nadal beat Djokovic in the semifinals in Beijing 2008 and ended with gold. The latter, meanwhile, settled for bronze. It will be interesting to see what script unfolds for them in the upcoming encounter.

Nadal termed Djokovic as the favourite ahead of the game. He said, "Situations are completely different for him, for me. He's being very competitive. I was not being very competitive for the last two years, so in that case, I think probably he is the clear favourite."

Djokovic, on the other hand, claimed that Nadal has always been his biggest rival. "Nadal is always my biggest rival. As long as Nadal is playing, as long as I’m playing, Nadal is always my biggest rival regardless of the rankings or what’s going on on the tour just because of the history of our rivalry," the Serb added.
