Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a leg injury in the final seconds of their season-opener loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. Love was eventually helped off the ground as the Packers lost 34-29 in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday (Sep 6).
He was making one final push and had just completed a 33-yard pass to Jayden Reed, putting the Packers on their own 49-yard line. On the next attempt, he was tackled by two Eagles, defensive tackle Jalen Carter and outside linebacker Josh Sweat.
Love fell on the ground, twisting his leg and writhing in pain but managed to hand the ball back to Josh Jacobs behind him. Watch the moment below:
Packers coach Matt LaFleur was asked the question about the QB's status twice during the post-game conference but said: "I don't know."
Wide Receiver Christian Watson, however, was hopeful of Love getting through it.
"We know what kind of guy he is, how he approaches everything. Whatever it is, I know he's going to get through it. We're going to get through it," he said.
Love finished the game with 17/34 and 260 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Malik Willis, who came to Green Bay from Tennessee in a trade last week, replaced Love on the field. Willis threw one interception and was sacked once in two plays he made.
As for the game, the Packers did start well and led the first quarter 6-0. The Eagles scored a whopping 17 points in the second quarter while Green Bay managed 13, putting the game at 19-17 in their favour at half-time.
The Eagles took the lead in the third quarter, scoring 14 points against the Packers' 7 and the lead proved to be decisive as both teams managed just three points each in the last quarter.
