Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa left the Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills on September 12 after suffering a concussion and Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce thinks the QB should retire.
Pierce made the comments at a press conference on Friday (Sep 13) after Tua suffered a third diagnosed concussion in his fifth year as a QB.

"I'll be honest, I'd tell him to retire. It's not worth it," Pierce said. "Playing the game, I haven't witnessed anything like what's happened to him three times. Scary -- you could see right away; the players' faces on the field. You could see the sense of urgency from everybody to get Tua help. I just think at some point -- he's going to live longer than he's going to play football. Take care of your family," Pierce said.
Tua had missed five regular season games in the 2022 season due to two diagnosed concussions. He had also suffered a third hit on the head in the same season which prompted the National Football League (NFL) to change its policy around concussions.
Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel acknowledged that Tua may not be playing in the next week's game against the Seattle Seahawks but asked everyone to allow the QB to focus on his health instead of his return.
"You're talking about his career -- his career is his," he said. "I just wish that people would for a second hear what I'm saying, that bringing up his future is not in the best interest of him. So, I'm going to plead with everybody that does genuinely care that that should be the last thing on your mind."
As for the game, Bills won it 31-10 despite the two teams being equal at 7-7 in the first quarter and scoring no points in the last quarter of the game.
