IPL 2024: WATCH | 'When Gujarat is playing, never...' - Gill's one-liner goes viral after GT edge past RR

Gujarat Titans (GT) edged past hosts Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a last-ball thriller in match 24 of the IPL 2024 edition on Wednesday (April 10), in Jaipur. Chasing 197, Gujarat needed 73 off the last 30 balls and also lost skipper Shubman Gill (72 off 40 balls) before Rashid Khan's 11-ball 24*and Rahul Tewatia's 11-ball 22took GT to a win in a last-ball thriller.

Not many had given GT a chance, especially after their below-par bowling and very poor fielding effort. In the run-chase, they were reduced to 79 for 3 in 10.4 overs and further complicated their task by needing 73 off the last five overs. However, Rashid and Tewatia ended things in style after Gill played a captain's knock. At the post-match presentation, Gill's epic one-liner went viral when presenter-cum-commentator Harsha Bhogle said, "Some of us thought you had left it too late."

Talking about the rain-hit game, Sanju Samson-led Royals came into this game on the back of being the only unbeaten side in this year's IPL after four successive wins. They were asked to bat first and soon reduced to 42-2. However, Riyan Parag's 76 (48) and Samson's 38-ball 68* propelled their side to 196 for 3. In reply, GT started well with a 64-opening stand between Gill-Sai Sudharsan but were behind for most ofthe final 10 overs before pulling off a heist.

RR remain at the topwith 8 points despite the shocking loss, whereas GT are now at the sixth spot with6 points.
