IPL 2024: Mayank Yadav injured yet again
Mayank Yadav has made heads turn in the IPL 2024 edition. In just two games, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer has made a big statement with two three-fers and Player-of-the-Match awards. On Tuesday (April 2), the KL Rahul-led LSG franchise faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in match 15, at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where they posted 181 for 5, riding on Quinton de Kock's 81 and Nicholas Pooran's 20-ball 41. However, the star of the match was Mayank who rattled the famed RCB batting line-up with a 3 for 14.
As a result, the home side managed only 153 in 19.4 overs to lose by 28 runs and remain in the ninth spot in the points table. Following his highly impressive IPL debut, a lot is being said and written about Mayank. Many believe he can be unleashed at the T20 World Cupas the 21-year-old can be a surprise package for the Men in Blue (who are the one-time winners).
Steve Smith, former Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain, is also impressed with Mayank. However, the Australian batter explained how runs can be scored off the pacer.
Speaking on Star Sports, Mayank said, "If you look at all those balls, there wasn’t one slower ball there, so you don’t have to worry about that at this stage. He might have it in his armoury, we haven’t seen it yet but you can probably trust to get inside the line or maybe give a bit of room and use the pace and let it come to you."
At the post-match presentation ceremony, after the 28-run win over RCB, Mayank said, "Feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in twomatches. I am happier that we won both matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most. There are a lot of factors to bowl quick - diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery - ice bath."

Mayank made his IPL debut in LSG's home game versus Punjab Kings (PBKS) and ended with 3 for 27. The youngster has made an impact with his searing pace, clocking156.7 and 155 kph -- the fastest balls of the season -- and accuracy.
