Ace India all-rounder Hardik Pandya made headlines for his superb outing with both bat and ball against Bangladesh in the first T20I in Gwalior on Sunday (Oct 6); however, what made headlines was his ‘no-look’ shot off Taskin Ahmed for a boundary.

In the most Hardik manner, the right-handed batter played an uppercut for a sublime-looking four off a bouncer, with India closing in on the run chase.

The fans in attendance, the commentators and the millions watching at home let alone Pandya, were all in awe of this extraordinary shot.

Pandya remained unbeaten on 39 off 16 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes, one of which came off Rishad Hossain, hitting a good length delivery for a maximum over cover. That shot also garnered attention, with social media going gaga over it.

Meanwhile, Pandya was among the handful of star cricketers picked for the first T20I, with Captain Suryakumar Yadav, keeper-batter Sanju Samson and seamer Arshdeep Singh being others.

Opening the bowling alongside Arshdeep, who returned with three wickets and won the Player-of-the-Match award, Pandya made the new ball talk up front but picked his only wicket in the 18th over, removing seamer Shoriful Islam on a duck.

Coming onto bat in the eighth over after the fall of the third wicket, Pandya continued from where he left in the shorter format, slamming bowlers to all parts of the grounds.

Alongside debutant and fellow all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, Pandya led the charge, stitching a 52-run stand for the fourth wicket and winning the game for India with seven wickets remaining.

With this win, India leads the three-match series 1-0.

Delhi will host the second T20I on Wednesday (Oct 9), while Hyderabad will stage the final game on Saturday (Oct 12).
