Police in Pakistan have identified the womanfound in the Aabpara police station area as Farwa Kiyani, a resident of Rawalpindi. The woman initially identified herself as a Belgian national and alleged that she had been sexually assaulted.
The woman hadidentified herself as Silva Sitina from Belgium.
On Wednesday (Aug 14), when the case first came to light, the fact that she spoke in broken English raised suspicion about hernationality. The Belgian Embassy in Islamabad also cited the investigation by Pakistan police and posted on X that the victim was not a Belgian citizen.
Regarding the incident that occurred on Wednesday 14/08, the Pakistani police have just confirmed that the alleged victim is NOT a Belgian citizen.

Her Pakistani identity was ascertained through NADRA’s facial recognition database.
The Islamabad police on Thursday in a statement on social media platforms also confirmed that the claim of her nationality was under review and rather in question.
Officials with direct knowledge of the case say that Farwa was married to a Belgian man some 23 years ago with whom she has a daughter, but returned to Pakistan alone in February 2024.
It is said that upon her return, she initially stayed with her brother who turned her overto the police saying that she was mentally unstable and tried to harm his family.
Meanwhile, the initial medical examination has not suggested any evidence of sexual abuse. TheDNA samples have been sent for further testing with results pending.
An investigation by the Pakistani newspaper The Nation also confirms that the person who Farwa accuses of rape was morelikely to bea disgruntled lover in a one-sided relationship which was not reciprocated.
No one from the family of either the person in custody or the woman in question has come forward to file an FIRin the case, whichis pending.
