Police on Thursday arrested two more men in connection with thegangrape ofa 19-year-old woman and with the death of her infant daughter, who was thrown from her moving autorickshaw.
A case has been registered against three men, one of whom was apprehended on Wednesday.
"They were produced in court today and will remain in custody," Gurgaon's commissioner of police Sandeep Khirwar told AFP.
On May 29, the woman reportedly got into an autorickshaw with her eight-month-old daughter around midnight to go to her parents' house in Gurugram.
"When my child started crying, they tried to smother my baby. And then they threw her on the footpath," PTI quoted the woman as saying. "I requested them to stop, saying my child is crying. After that, they raped me on the road."
After the men left, she went looking for her infant who had died by then due to head injuries.
The case sparked an outrage when Indian media reported that the woman took her daughter to the hospital on the metro, unaware that the baby was already dead.
