<p>Just after midnight as poisonous plumes of smoke wafted through the Indian city of Bhopal four decades ago, Gas Devi was born, gasping for every breath.</p>

<p>Her feeble cries were drowned out by the screams of men, women and children as they ran to escape the cloud of highly toxic gas leaking from the Union Carbide factory on the night of December 2, 1984.</p>

<p>Some 3,500 people were killed in the immediate aftermath, and up to 25,000 are estimated to have died overall in the world's deadliest industrial disaster.</p>

<p>Forty years later, the horror continues to blight the lives of those like Devi -- as well as countless others born with deformities since that fateful night.</p>

<p>Devi, a daily wage labourer, has constant pain in her chest, one of her lungs is not developed fully and she keeps falling sick.</p>

<p>"My life is a living hell," Devi told AFP, speaking at her shanty in Bhopal, the capital of the central state of Madhya Pradesh.</p>

<p>Even if she wanted, she cannot forgot the night she was born.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"My parents named me Gas," she said, her eyes welling up. "I believe this name is a curse. I wish I had died that night".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Twenty-seven tonnes of methyl isocyanate (MIC), used in the production of pesticides, swept through the city of over two million people after one of the tanks storing the deadly chemical shattered its concrete casing.</p>

<p>As the white cloud of MIC shrouded areas close to the factory, people started collapsing in the streets.</p>

<p>Nathuram Soni, now 81, was among the first to rush out.</p>

<p>"People were frothing from their mouths. Some had defecated, some were choking in their own vomit," said Soni.</p>

<p>A handkerchief tied over his nose, Soni used his pushcart to carry his wailing neighbours, many of them infants, to hospital.</p>

<p>"At least their misery ended," she said. "The unfortunate are those who survived".</p>

<p>Her trust has seen more than 150 children being admitted this year alone with cerebral palsy, hearing and speech impairments and other disabilities.</p>

<p>She blames the disorders on the accident and the contamination of the groundwater.</p>

<p>Testing of groundwater near the site in the past revealed cancer- and birth defect-causing chemicals 50 times higher than what is accepted as safe by the US Environmental Protection Agency.</p>

<p>"This tragedy is showing no signs of relenting," said Rashida, 68, who has lost several members of her family to cancer since the accident.</p>

<p>"The soil and water here are contaminated -- that is why kids are still being born with deformities."</p>

<p>Union Carbide, which was acquired by the Michigan-based Dow Chemical Company in 2001, routinely dumped chemical waste years before the disaster, campaigners say.</p>

<p>Large evaporation ponds outside the factory were filled with thousands of litres of liquid waste.</p>

<p>Toxins penetrated the soil and the water supplying several neighbourhoods.</p>

<p>Dow Chemical did not respond to AFP's request for comment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tasleem Bano, 48, is convinced of a link between the plant and congenital illnesses.</p>

<p>Her son Mohammed Salman's limbs were splayed when he was born.</p>

<p>"His twin brother died in the womb. Salman survived but he could not speak a word till he was six years old," she said, showing her son's braces that help him to stand.</p>

<p>"Doctors say he is like this because of the gas," said Tasleem, who inhaled the fumes as a young girl living close to the factory.</p>

<p>Salman, 12, could only respond with a toothy grin when asked his name.</p>

<p>Like Salman, hundreds of children at the Chingari centre struggle to speak, walk or eat their meals.</p>

<h2><strong>'Corporate massacre'&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>At the nearby Sambhavna Trust clinic, there is a steady queue of gas survivors seeking treatment.</p>

<p>"Data very clearly shows that mortality in the exposed population compared to a matched controlled (population) is much higher," said Satinath Sarangi, founder of Sambhavna.</p>

<p>"In 2011, we'd taken stock through our registered cohorts and we found there was 28 percent more mortality among the gas exposed."</p>

<p>Sarangi, 70, said the MIC fumes damaged the immune system of affected populations and caused chromosomal aberrations, something corroborated by medical research.</p>

<p>"Children of gas-exposed parents have much higher prevalence of congenital malformations."</p>

<p>In 1989 Union Carbide, in a partial out-of-court settlement with the Indian government, agreed to pay $470 million in compensation to the victims.</p>

<p>But the victims themselves were not consulted in the negotiations, and received just $500 each.</p>

<p>The current owners have refused to pay further compensation for the catastrophe that continues to unfold till this day.</p>

<p>In 1991, Warren Anderson, Union Carbide chairman and chief executive at the time of the disaster, was charged in India with "culpable homicide not amounting to murder".</p>

<p>But he never stood trial. Anderson died aged 92 in a nursing home in Florida in 2014.</p>

<p>A plea seeking compensation of 500,000 rupees ($5,920) from the Indian government for each victim diagnosed with cancer or kidney ailments is languishing in courts.</p>

<p>Rachna Dhingra, a social activist from the Bhopal Group for Information and Action, said true justice still evades the survivors.</p>

<p>"Until today, not a single individual has gone to jail -- even for a day -- for killing more than 25,000 people and injuring half a million people, and contaminating the soil and groundwater," she said.</p>

<p>"People in the city are continuing to fight because there is no legal mechanism to hold these corporations accountable worldwide.</p>

Four decades of horror after India's Bhopal gas disaster

<p>A depression formed by the remnants of Cyclonic Storm Fengal was now progressing west-northwestward over northern coastal Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at a speed of nearly 7 km/h over the past six hours.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The depression was centred in the region at 11:30 pm on Sunday,&nbsp;the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday (Dec 2).</p>

The drainage infrastructure is not capable of draining such a large quantity of downpour in a day. Electric substations have been submerged, and we had to shut down the power supply. A lot of trees have fallen, many on electric lines, and those lines need to be restored. By tonight, all substations will be re-energized," Kailashnathan said.</p>

<h2><strong>Holiday declared in schools and colleges</strong></h2>

<p>As the cyclone caused record rainfall in Puducherry, a holiday was declared on Monday (Dec 2) in all the government and government-aided schools, private schools, and colleges, the Union Territory's Education Minister A Namachivayam said on Sunday (Dec 1).</p>

<p>Tamil Nadu also announced holidays for schools and colleges in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Vellore, and Ranipet districts.</p>

<p>In the intervening night of December 2 and 3&nbsp;of 1984, the central Indian city of Bhopal became the site of&nbsp;one of the most devastating industrial disasters in world history.</p>

<p>In the quiet of the night, approximately 40 tonnes of lethal methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas leaked from a pesticide factory of Union Carbide India Limited,&nbsp;creating a deadly cloud that drifted across the city in Madhya Pradesh state.</p>

<p>The aftermath of this catastrophic event had immediate and lasting consequences, affecting nearly half a million residents.</p>

<p>Around midnight, a chemical reaction was initiated within the UCIL pesticide plant, resulting in the release of methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas.</p>

<p>This toxic gas escaped from one of the factory's storage tanks, exposing over half a million people to the hazardous substance and turning the city into a nightmarish gas chamber.</p>

<p>Denmark's ambassador to India Freddy Svane has said that his country's ties with India have no limits as there are several areas where both sides can work, including climate change. Speaking at WION Podcast to our correspondent Sidhant Sibal, Ambassador Freddy said, "&nbsp;I don't see any limits to where we can walk hand in hand with India...we do not see any limits to our relationship or our friendship". In 2022, PM Modi visited the country, with a focus on strengthening ties with Copenhagen on a range of issues, from climate change to renewables, to innovation.</p>

<p>Pointing to how both sides are working on dealing with climate change under the "India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership", the ambassador said, "We understand that India has to move 1.4 billion people who would like to have access to power. The demand for power is increasing drastically in the coming years".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ambassador Freddy Svane, who is concluding his India tenure, is credited for bringing a turnaround in India-Denmark ties. The ties, which were once seen through the lens of the Purulia arms drop case (its key mastermind being Kim Davy a Danish national) are more about increasing economic, sustainable development and green partnership.&nbsp;&nbsp;Freddy Svane was the first European diplomat to have an engagement&nbsp;with Narendra Modi, in 2011, when the latter was the chief minister of Gujarat.</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: How do you see India and Denmark's relationship?</p>

<p>Freddy Svane:&nbsp;The relationships between Denmark and India have grown over the years. No doubt about that. We came from a kind of icy context to a very warm context, and I don't see any limits to where we can walk hand in hand with India. What is important for us is that we can partner with India.&nbsp;I'm a strong supporter of it, because, of course, there are political connotations to it. But the whole idea of moving 1.4 billion people from where they are, to what they should become, economically, socially and so forth, is so so important. So therefore we do not see any limits to our relationship or our friendship.</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: You are closing your tenure, and it's a long tenure, you have served previously as well here in India. So if you can talk about your tenure, something that you want to cherish, something that perhaps you'll miss</p>

<p>Freddy Svane: First and foremost, when we came to India, the first time there was in mid 2010 we had never been to India. I came with a commercial background. So the whole idea was to tap into the huge potential of India. We came to the posh new airport in India- the&nbsp;Indira Gandhi International Airport-&nbsp;like everywhere in the world. Then we got out, and so the Indian cows, with cows, potholes, two-wheelers, everything in a mess, and so forth. But then we started understanding India. So I think the first inning was about moving from country to nation, and then living civilization. And obviously throughout all these years, these years, we have seen a lot of improvements. I have been crisscrossing India many times. The number of new expressways, new airports, new ports, whatever, has really changed everything. So India is really constantly on the move. It's a massive move across all sectors.</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: Where do you see India's role in the world?</p>

<p>Freddy Svane: No doubt, with the present regime, with the present Prime Minister, India has taken up an unprecedented proactive, very active role in global affairs. We love, I love, and I support the idea of an independent but also extremely strong India. India, where India is geographically placed, will have an impact on geostrategic, and strategic affairs, as well as geopolitical and geo-economic affairs. So an India who is proactive, not just sitting at home and discussing what to do and what not to do, that's not good enough. And therefore I'm really, really pleased to see India playing an increasingly important role. And we saw the G20 summit last year here, and India maintained, really, or secured, the G20 as a multilateral forum remained intact and also brought in the African Union. So India plays a role. The honourable Prime Minister plays an important role globally, and regionally, and that is what we would like to see, a strong India defining his own national interest.</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: So, coming back to India, Denmark relationship. What is there when it comes to India, and Denmark's relationship, in terms of collaboration? I mean, your country is well known for dealing with issues like climate change. India is a country which can sway the debate on climate change. So how can Denmark help?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Freddy Svane: I think I'll answer you a very brilliant question in the following way. Under my watch, we have had three one-liners "no teaching, no preaching". So we are not the ones telling India to stop using&nbsp;coal. Coal is the base load out here. So why can't we come and tell you to stop the use of coal? So "no teaching, no preaching". Denmark would like to be a source of inspiration. It's like a menu card. We tell you what we are good at, and then it's for your side to decide. Can we use that in an Indian context? But we also like to be inspired by India, and most importantly, also when it comes to climate and many other issues. I'm not into what I will call "day-trading diplomacy". I have to work for the long perspective, and therefore this Vikshit Bharat is very dear to my heart, but also the kind of compass needle that we are trying to fix. So that's important. And I mean, we understand that India has to move 1.4 billion people who would like to have access to power. The demand for power is increasing drastically in the coming years. And of course, we would like to come with our menu cut and say, Okay, we were happy doing this. That had this impact. It generated jobs and so forth. So that's for you to look into, and wherever it makes sense, like offshore wind and all that biogas coming up, we have been, I think, very strong partners for India in the future.</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: I think the green partnership is something that is the defining part of the relationship.</p>

<p>Freddy Svane:&nbsp;So right, you are. I mean, that came because we were sitting discussing how our relationship could be, given the fact that we're only 60 lakh people, so it's a drop of Delhi and so forth. So how could we take our relationship to a strategic level and then define this, I did because my idea literally that we embarked upon this green strategic partnership, and luckily and great, there was great interest on the Indian side. So that's why we moved and it has served as a very important framework for whatever we are doing in water, energy, green financing, climate and many, many other topics. So that has served us very, very well.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: I believe your country is a world leader when it comes to dairy products and dealing with dairy India has its own brand when it comes to dairy products. How can your country help India? You have the technology. India has a scale.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Freddy Svane: I mean, years back in the 1960s we brought in living cows and semen even to India, and so we were cross-breeding cows, and so that also helped increase the yield of milk from cows and so forth. Nowadays we are much more into the transfer of technology. So we have a centre of excellence coming up in Himachal Pradesh. International tender has just been announced, so we will secure the transfer of our expertise, but also our technologies. So we are there, and we are also helping you to cope with all the big challenges that we have been facing.</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: Challenges like...?</p>

<p>Freddy Svane:&nbsp;climate.I mean, if you have a big dairy industry, there's also an impact on climate. What kind of food, how much protein do you need, and so forth, and how do you ensure that the right consistency of water is being used and so forth. What forth. We can transfer ideas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: You talked about platforms, and there is one platform where not only India and Denmark work together, but the Nordics work together, as the Indian Nordic Summit. We saw the summit happening in Copenhagen as well, for which the Indian Prime Minister travelled to your country in 2022 so if you can talk about the future of this platform.</p>

And I think India has also moved towards saying that we need to group countries and then we'll work with them. So, therefore, my expectations for the upcoming Indo-Nordic summit in Norway will be extremely high. But we have to get out of the idea that it's only a kind of dot and then a couple of years later, we put it on the map and so forth. So we have to develop a common strategy, and perhaps the green strategic partnership could be lifted to the Nordic platform. Some will also argue that the Baltics should be included. And we talked about all these things, the Kingdom of Denmark is not only Denmark, it is also Greenland, the Faroe Islands and so forth. So I think a lot of new reflection will have to go into it. And I think on the Indian side, which I'm in full support of, you see these kinds of reflections as more strategic thinking. So hopefully the Indo-Nordic summit will turn into a new platform, which will ensure that we are combining all our resources for the benefit of the world, but also to India, but also obviously our own people.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sidhant Sibal: So my last question to you is about Denmark. So if you can, to our viewers, many of whom will be watching your interview, talk about Denmark's foreign policy. What is Denmark's foreign policy?</p>

<p>Freddy Svane: Denmark was a founding member of NATO so today, and of course, in view of this unprovoked attack by Russia, it has made NATO even stronger. We saw Finland and Sweden as very neutral, they joined NATO. So Denmark was a founding member of NATO. And you know, our experience was based on the challenges of the First World War, and more importantly, also the Second World War. So we had to deal with that. Then later we joined the European Union, or the communities that were called in the 1970s and we did that because the UK applied for membership, and the UK was our most important market. So Denmark's foreign policy is to be pragmatic, but also realistic and secure that the right values that we cherish will have a say in global politics. But we have also realized that we can't sit in Europe and just define our own interests. It has to be a proactive, interactive relationship, including with India. And therefore India, in our foreign policy, plays a huge, important strategic goal, and I don't see any limits to it. So Denmark is strong. We only have 60 lakh people, but we are an open economy. Two-thirds of our GDP is generated from free trade and trade globally in India is increasingly becoming a very important partner. All our companies are now really looking into really increasing their investments in India. Pointing to how both sides are working on dealing with climate change under the "India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership", the ambassador said, "We understand that India has to move 1.4 billion people who would like to have access to power. The demand for power is increasing drastically in the coming years". Ambassador Freddy Svane, who is concluding his India tenure, is credited for bringing a turnaround in India-Denmark ties. Sidhant Sibal: How do you see India and Denmark's relationship? Freddy Svane: The relationships between Denmark and India have grown over the years. No doubt about that. We came from a kind of icy context to a very warm context, and I don't see any limits to where we can walk hand in hand with India. What is important for us is that we can partner with India. I'm a strong supporter of it, because, of course, there are political connotations to it. But the whole idea of moving 1.4 billion people from where they are, to what they should become, economically, socially and so forth, is so so important. So therefore we do not see any limits to our relationship or our friendship. Sidhant Sibal: You are closing your tenure, and it's a long tenure, you have served previously as well here in India. So if you can talk about your tenure, something that you want to cherish, something that perhaps you'll miss Freddy Svane: First and foremost, when we came to India, the first time there was in mid 2010 we had never been to India. I came with a commercial background. So the whole idea was to tap into the huge potential of India. We came to the posh new airport in India- the Indira Gandhi International Airport- like everywhere in the world. Then we got out, and so the Indian cows, with cows, potholes, two-wheelers, everything in a mess, and so forth. But then we started understanding India. So I think the first inning was about moving from country to nation, and then living civilization. And obviously throughout all these years, these years, we have seen a lot of improvements. I have been crisscrossing India many times. The number of new expressways, new airports, new ports, whatever, has really changed everything. So India is really constantly on the move. It's a massive move across all sectors. Sidhant Sibal: Where do you see India's role in the world? Freddy Svane: No doubt, with the present regime, with the present Prime Minister, India has taken up an unprecedented proactive, very active role in global affairs. We love, I love, and I support the idea of an independent but also extremely strong India. India, where India is geographically placed, will have an impact on geostrategic, and strategic affairs, as well as geopolitical and geo-economic affairs. So an India who is proactive, not just sitting at home and discussing what to do and what not to do, that's not good enough. And therefore I'm really, really pleased to see India playing an increasingly important role. And we saw the G20 summit last year here, and India maintained, really, or secured, the G20 as a multilateral forum remained intact and also brought in the African Union. So India plays a role. The honourable Prime Minister plays an important role globally, and regionally, and that is what we would like to see, a strong India defining his own national interest. Sidhant Sibal: So, coming back to India, Denmark relationship. What is there when it comes to India, and Denmark's relationship, in terms of collaboration? I mean, your country is well known for dealing with issues like climate change. India is a country which can sway the debate on climate change. So how can Denmark help? Freddy Svane: I think I'll answer you a very brilliant question in the following way. Under my watch, we have had three one-liners "no teaching, no preaching". So we are not the ones telling India to stop using coal. Coal is the base load out here. So why can't we come and tell you to stop the use of coal? So "no teaching, no preaching". Denmark would like to be a source of inspiration. It's like a menu card. We tell you what we are good at, and then it's for your side to decide. Can we use that in an Indian context? But we also like to be inspired by India, and most importantly, also when it comes to climate and many other issues. I'm not into what I will call "day-trading diplomacy". I have to work for the long perspective, and therefore this Vikshit Bharat is very dear to my heart, but also the kind of compass needle that we are trying to fix. So that's important. And I mean, we understand that India has to move 1.4 billion people who would like to have access to power. The demand for power is increasing drastically in the coming years. And of course, we would like to come with our menu cut and say, Okay, we were happy doing this. That had this impact. It generated jobs and so forth. So that's for you to look into, and wherever it makes sense, like offshore wind and all that biogas coming up, we have been, I think, very strong partners for India in the future. Sidhant Sibal: I think the green partnership is something that is the defining part of the relationship. Freddy Svane: So right, you are. I mean, that came because we were sitting discussing how our relationship could be, given the fact that we're only 60 lakh people, so it's a drop of Delhi and so forth. So how could we take our relationship to a strategic level and then define this, I did because my idea literally that we embarked upon this green strategic partnership, and luckily and great, there was great interest on the Indian side. So that's why we moved and it has served as a very important framework for whatever we are doing in water, energy, green financing, climate and many, many other topics. So that has served us very, very well. Sidhant Sibal: I believe your country is a world leader when it comes to dairy products and dealing with dairy India has its own brand when it comes to dairy products. How can your country help India? You have the technology. India has a scale. Freddy Svane: I mean, years back in the 1960s we brought in living cows and semen even to India, and so we were cross-breeding cows, and so that also helped increase the yield of milk from cows and so forth. Nowadays we are much more into the transfer of technology. So we have a centre of excellence coming up in Himachal Pradesh. International tender has just been announced, so we will secure the transfer of our expertise, but also our technologies. So we are there, and we are also helping you to cope with all the big challenges that we have been facing. Sidhant Sibal: Challenges like...? Freddy Svane: climate.I mean, if you have a big dairy industry, there's also an impact on climate. What kind of food, how much protein do you need, and so forth, and how do you ensure that the right consistency of water is being used and so forth. What forth. We can transfer ideas. <p>Delhi and Noida roads witnessed massive traffic congestion on Monday (Dec. 2) as several farmer groups are on a march towards the national capital.</p>

<p>The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) organised the ‘Delhi Chalo’ march along with other farmer groups, including Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), in order to press for benefits and compensation.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday asked farmer leaders to not block highways and cause inconvenience to people.</p>

<p>A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan said, "In a democratic setup, you can engage in peaceful protests but do not cause inconvenience to people. You all know that the Khanauri border is a lifeline for Punjab. We are not commenting on whether the protest is right or wrong."</p>

<p>Uttarakhand Police is looking into the suspicious claims of a man who was "reunited" with two separate families -- one in Ghaziabad and another in Dehradun -- within a span of five months after he claimed that he was their long-lost son who had been a victim of trafficking.</p>

<p>The emotional story of Bhim Singh returning to his parents in Ghaziabad after 31 years, which was covered widely in the media recently, caught the attention of Dehradun Police. The man claimed that he was kidnapped as an eight-year-old and sought the help of UP Police which "reunited" him with the family.</p>

<p>Police sources here said the man had allegedly made a similar claim five months back in Dehradun, where he had identified another family as his own and had started living with them. However, recently he left for Delhi and did not return.</p>

<p>Calling himself Monu Sharma, he had approached a police station in Dehradun and requested them to help him find his parents.</p>

<p>Both times, he allegedly made the same claim -- that he was kidnapped in his childhood and was forced to live as a bonded labourer in Rajasthan.</p>

<p>His picture was circulated in newspapers and other media, after which a woman Asha Sharma identified him as her missing son and the man started living with her family.</p>

<p>A few days back, he allegedly left his Dehradun home for Delhi and has since then made no contact with his "parents".</p>

<p>Later, Asha came to know that the man claiming to be Monu has now been "reunited" with another family in Ghaziabad.</p>

<p>She said that Monu would often quarrel with her daughter's children, asking them to be thrown out of the house. Asha's husband Kapildev Sharma said that he always doubted the man's claims but allowed him to stay in the house because of his wife.</p>

<p>He said that before leaving for Delhi, he borrowed ₹ 8,000 from a person in Dehradun.</p>

<p>When the police came to their house and said that he was now living with another family in Ghaziabad, Kapildev said they told the police that they did not want to see the man's face again.</p>

<p>Anti-Human Trafficking Unit Inspector Praveen Pant, who helped the man meet Asha and Kapildev in Dehradun, said that the investigation is still on and, if necessary, the team will also go to Ghaziabad.</p>

<p>Pant said that when the man came to them in Dehradun, he seemed a "little mentally unstable".</p>

<p>Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that the police are keeping a close watch on the case. He said that at present no case has been registered against the man in Dehradun.</p>

<p>Ghaziabad Police have also contacted their counterparts in Dehradun and are investigating the case further.</p>

<p>"Discrepancies have emerged in Raju's (Bhim Singh) statements as he could not provide the name of the truck driver who dropped him off both in Dehradun and Ghaziabad, raising suspicion," said Ghaziabad Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patil.</p>

<p>"Despite the inconsistencies in Raju's statements, we are investigating the case thoroughly to verify the authenticity of his claims," the DCP said. Ghaziabad Police has called the man for further questioning.</p>

<p>According to Ghaziabad Police, "Monu" met Asha and Kapildev Sharma on June 26, 2024. The Sharmas' son went missing around 16-17 years ago, it said.</p>

<p>"Yesterday, at 6:00 pm, according to American timings, Sai Teja was murdered by gunfire by African Americans in Chicago City. This is a very sad thing for me. He went to the US on June 15 after completing his BBA in Hyderabad. He went to study for an MBA at Concordia University and also joined a part-time job in Chicago," Srujan said according to news agency ANI.</p>

<p>"At his usual time, Teja went to the store. When he was at the cash counter, some dacoits entered the store and demanded money. Sai Teja handed over the money, but they were not satisfied... They took the cash and shot Sai Teja outside the store," he added.</p>

<p>External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, in a post on X, said that he was “deeply grieved at this news.”</p>

Delhi pollution: Even the best air Delhiites breathed in November was of 'very poor' category

<p>Cyclone Fengal made landfall early Sunday morning, around 2 am, crossing the Tamil Nadu coast between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram, confirmed the India Meteorological Department (IMD). <p>The fraudsters also forced her to strip during a video call, according to the FIR or First Information Report from police.</p>

<p>According to the police complaint filed by the woman, she received a phone call on November 19. The cybercriminals posed as Delhi Police officials and told her that her name had come up in a money laundering case linked to businessman Naresh Goyal.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The victim, who resides in Borivali East, was threatened by the scammers of being arrested. She was then asked to shift to video call and book a hotel room for the questioning while being under ‘digital arrest’.</p>
