Eknath Shinde, the alliance partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Mahayuti alliance in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra, said Wednesday (Nov 27) that he is “not the kind who gets upset” amid deadlock over the chief minister post.

Addressing a presser over CM suspense, Shinde, the leader of Shiv Sena and an ally of BJP, said, “The huge amount of votes we received was only because of the work we did. We are really the real brothers of our 'Ladli Behens', and they kept this in mind before voting.”

“I am not the kind who gets upset, we are the kind of people who fight, fight for the people,” Shinde added. “All the work I do, I will do for the people of Maharashtra. What is important is not what I get, but what the people of the state get,” Shinde said.

The leader said that he didn’t do anything for popularity, adding that he told Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take the decision. “I told PM Modi, as the leader of NDA, you take the decision. And whatever decision you take will be final for us,” Shinde said. “I told PM Modi, as the leader of NDA, you take the decision. And whatever decision you take will be final for us,” he added.&nbsp;

BJP’s top leadership has now summoned leaders from all three parties of the alliance to the capital New Delhi for further discussions.

Results were announced for the assembly elections in Maharashtra on November 23, in which the Mahayuti alliance claimed a landslide victory. The alliance won 235 of the total 288 seats, with BJP alone contributing 132 seats. Fadnavis is now being termed by BJP leaders as the architect of this massive victory, with leaders from BJP recommending his name for the CM post.

However, the leaders of Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) are rooting for Eknath Shinde. The Mahayuti alliance had Shinde as their chief minister in the previous term.

Earlier on Wednesday, Fadnavis said the three alliance partners would decide the CM’s name collectively. "All three parties will form the government together," he said.

A report in the New Indian Express has claimed that Shinde wants to be appointed as convener of the Mahayuti government if not CM. Shinde is also reported to have asked for the deputy chief minister’s post for his Kalyan MP son, Shrikant.

The government of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has prohibited the use of apps like Gmail and WhatsApp for official communication among government officials. Citing the potential of leaks and breaches, the government said these third-party platforms are not designed to handle sensitive information, and such communication should instead be done on government-approved apps.

An order passed by the General Administration Department on Saturday (Nov 23) said, “It has come to the attention of the administration that there is an increasing trend among officers and officials to use third-party tools such as WhatsApp, Gmail, and other similar platforms for transmitting sensitive, secret, and confidential information. This practice poses significant risks to the integrity and security of the information being communicated."

"Consequently, the use of such tools could result in severe security breaches that jeopardize the integrity of governmental operations," the order reads.

A police statement said the woman was having an extramarital affair with another person and was beaten up by his family members. Police have launched a probe into the incident following grave allegations by the nurse.

To deal with the menace of hoax calls in a comprehensive manner, the civil aviation ministry plans to amend the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982, and Aircraft (Security) Rules, 2023.

A total of 1,143 hoax bomb threat messages/calls were received from August 2022 till November 13, 2024, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol informed Rajya Sabha on November 25.

From January to November 13, 2024, the total threats received stood at 994, as per the data shared by the minister in a written reply to the Upper House.

"The recent threats were hoaxes and no actual threat was detected at any of the airports/aircraft in India. As per the assessment of BTAC, operations of some of the flights were affected," the minister said.

"As a part of BTCP, every airport has a designated Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) which analyses the threat and acts accordingly. As per the assessment of BTAC, hoax bomb calls result in adversely affecting operations of some of the flights resulting in an impact on airlines, airports, and other stakeholders.

"BCAS has issued advisories to all the Civil Aviation Installations in the country to streamline security measures and to prevent any unlawful interference with civil aviation," Mohol said in another written reply.

As per Section 3(1)(d) of the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982, if any person communicates such information which he knows to be false so as to endanger the safety of an aircraft in flight, the person shall be punished with imprisonment for life and shall also be liable to fine.

"Amendment in the above Act and in Aircraft (Security) Rules, 2023 is under consultation to make it more comprehensive as per evolving threats," Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said in a separate written reply.

He also said no amendment to the Aircraft Act, of 1934 is under consideration by the government.

"One person sustained minor injuries. Police teams and other specialised staff - special cell, forensics and other units are at the spot. The cause of the explosion is being ascertained... As of now, there is no suspect...The person with minor injuries was discharged after treatment," he said.

The National Security Guards (NSG) has set up a counter of Bomb Disposal Unit on the spot.

According to the sources, Delhi Police has seized more than 10 DVRs near the spot and is scanning the CCTV of the nearby area.

The sources also mentioned that the suspect used a garbage area to place explosives. The police have not found any kind of particles yet, though white powder residue was there near the spot.

"Chemical quantity which was used this time was less compared to last month's incident," they said.

Notably, this comes a month after a blast was reported in Prashant Vihar outside a CRPF school.

A woman was allegedly strangled to death and then her body chopped into 40 to 50 pieces by a 25-year-old man, who was her live-in partner and a butcher by profession.&nbsp;

The body parts were found in a forested area in the Khunti district of the Indian state of Jharkhand, said the police on Wednesday (Nov&nbsp;27).

The accused was identified as Naresh Bhengra and was arrested by the police. The incident came to light nearly a fortnight after the killing when human body parts were found with a stray dog near Jordag village in Jariagarh police station on November 24.

The 24-year-old woman was in a live-in relationship with Bhengra for the past couple of years&nbsp;in Tamil Nadu. During this period, the man had gone to Jharkhand once and married another woman without informing his partner.

"The brutal incident occurred on November 8 when they reached Khunti as the accused who had married another woman did not wish to take her home. Instead, he took her to a forest near his house at Jordag village in Jariagarh police station and chopped the body into pieces. The man has been arrested," said Khunti Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar, while speaking to PTI.

According to Inspector Ashok Singh, who has been investigating the case, the man used to work in a butcher shop in Tamil Nadu and was very good at slicing chicken.

"He admitted chopping the body parts of the woman into 40 to 50 pieces before leaving those in the forest for wild animals to feast on. The police recovered several parts on November 24 after a dog in the area was seen with a hand," said Singh, while speaking to PTI.

He added that the woman was pressurising the accused to take her back to Khunti with him. When they reached Ranchi, the two got off a train on November 24 and headed to the village of the man.

"Under a plan, the man took her to Khunti in an autorickshaw near his home and asked her to wait. He returned with sharp weapons and strangled her with her dupatta after raping her. He then cut the body into 40 to 50 pieces and left for his home to live with his wife," said Singh.

"The Global Operations Centre of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has closely coordinated with the NIA and Interpol National Central Bureau - Kigali for the return to India from Rwanda of Salman Rehman Khan, wanted by the NIA for terror-related offences," a CBI spokesperson said in a statement.

Khan is also accused of providing material support to LeT along with being part of the Pakistan-based terror organisation.&nbsp;

"Part of a terror radicalization and recruitment case of Bengaluru Central Prison, Salman was taken into custody by the NIA, with the assistance of the RIB, Interpol and NCBs, on November 27 and brought to India this morning," the NIA said in a statement.

The case regarding him was registered after the Bengaluru Police seized around seven pistols, four hand grenades, four walkie-talkies, and other materials.&nbsp;

The NIA took over the case in October 2023 and identified Khan as the main accused in the case.&nbsp;

Khan was tracked to Rwanada and was brought back to India by the NIA security team for further investigation.&nbsp;

Khan is the third wanted criminal to be extradited by the CBI in November 2024.&nbsp;

Previously, the CBI extradited Barkat Ali Khan on November 14 who was wanted in a rioting and explosion case in Mumbai. He was extradited from Saudi Arabia.&nbsp;A Red Notice was issued against him by the CBI in December 2022.&nbsp;

Police later tracked the woman to the Kandivali area when her phone was switched on in the evening. She was taken into custody for questioning. Upon investigation, it was determined that the woman was mentally unstable, and the call was classified as a prank. She has no prior criminal record.

Senior Inspector Sadashiv Nikam of the Amboli police station told The Indian Express, “After technical investigation, we tried to locate her. Meanwhile, she switched on her cell phone and was traced and detained from the Kandivali area in the evening. We found out that she made this call out of some frustration towards the administrative system. She is not associated with any group and has no criminal history.”

He added, “We have registered a case, and after confirming her involvement in the hoax threat call, we have named her as the accused in the case and issued her a notice. She has been summoned again today for further questioning.”

Mumbai woman detained for threatening PM Modi, claims assassination plot

The team of the Enforcement Directorate&nbsp;(ED) was attacked and one of their officials suffered injuries when they were investigating a cyber fraud case in the Bijwasan area of New Delhi on Thursday (Nov&nbsp;28).

Breakthrough technology makes radars go blind, to boost India’s national security

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh due to a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal that is likely to intensify into Cyclone Fengal on Wednesday, November 27.

The cyclonic storm warning has prompted the closure of schools and colleges in several Tamil Nadu districts including Trichy, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Thiruvallur, Ramanathapuram, and Villupuram due to the expected severity of the weather conditions in the region.

The weather system is currently about 670 km off the Chennai coast and moving towards Tamil Nadu. IMD has said it is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm as it approaches the coasts of southeastern Indian states.

According to the met department, the storm is moving northwards at the speed of 10 km/h and is located “about 190 km southeast of Trincomalee, 470 km southeast of Nagappattinam, 580 km south-southeast of Puducherry and 670 km south-southeast of Chennai”.

“It is very likely to continue to move north-northwestwards and intensify further into a cyclonic storm on 27th November. Thereafter, it will continue to move north-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast skirting Sri Lanka coast during subsequent 2 days,” IMD said on X.

The storm is expected to cause flooding in&nbsp;low-lying areas in the region and bring strong winds of about 45-55 km/h with gusts up to 65 km/h. It will also likely disrupt marine activities as the sea will be rough, said IMD.

<h2>Rescue teams deployed</h2>

Tamil Nadu Cheif Minister MK Stalin held a high-level meeting with the District Magistrates of Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, and Villupuram to discuss the rescue and relief of people living in the affected areas.

"As a heavy rain warning has been issued, I have held a review meeting with the District Collectors of Mayiladuthurai, Villupuram, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and Cuddalore to be ready and to instruct the Ministers to work from the field. The government is ready to face the rain. I request the public to be safe while going out," Stalin said on X.

Additionally, 17 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been deployed in the regions that are likely to be hit by the cyclonic storm.&nbsp;

Moderate rainfall was recorded in several parts of Tamil Nadu as the storm approaches its coasts.

Thereafter, it will continue to move north-northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu coast skirting Sri Lanka coast during subsequent 2 days,” IMD said on X. The storm is expected to cause flooding in low-lying areas in the region and bring strong winds of about 45-55 km/h with gusts up to 65 km/h. It will also likely disrupt marine activities as the sea will be rough, said IMD. Police are searching for him in Kerala and other places.

The murder is reported to have taken place on Sunday midnight in the service apartment where Maya and Aarav had checked in. She lived with her sister in Bengaluru's HSR Layout. On Friday night, she called her sister and told her that she was at an office party and wouldn't be coming home.&nbsp;

A student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay was duped of Rs 7.29 lakh ($8,633) by fraudsters, who issued a fake ‘digital arrest’ notice and demanded he pay the money. The cybercriminals posed as officials from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the police said on Tuesday&nbsp;(Nov&nbsp;26).

“The 25-year-old victim received a call from an unknown number in July this year. The caller posed as an employee of the TRAI and informed him that 17 complaints of illegal activities were registered against his mobile number,” an official of the Powai police station in Mumbai said as per&nbsp;news agency PTI.

The victim was told by the scammer that he was required to obtain a no objection certificate (NOC) from the police to prevent his number from getting deactivated and his call would be transferred to the Cyber Crime Branch.

The student then received a video call on WhatsApp where a man who was dressed as a police officer demanded his Aadhar card number. The fraudster told him that he was involved in money laundering and pressed him into transferring Rs 29,500 ($3,493) through the unified payments interface (UPI), according to the police.

The accused told the victim he was put under a digital arrest and was not allowed to contact anyone. The next day, the scammers called him again, demanding more money. They also coerced the man into giving up his bank account details, after which the tricksters siphoned Rs 7 lakh ($8,000) from his bank account. After the payment was made, the victim was told that would not face any arrest, the police said.

Later, the student realised he had been duped by the scammers after learning about the digital arrest, prompting him to lodge a complaint with the police against the scammers.

In August, a woman from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was duped of Rs 34 lakh ($40,000) by cybercriminals in a similar “digital arrest”, who claimed that a parcel sent from Mumbai to Iran in her name had been seized by the officials.

Amid the rise of such digital arrest scams, earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned citizens to beware of such phone or video calls as no investigation agency conducts interrogations in such a manner. “Stop, think and act,” he said.

India: IIT Bombay student loses $8,000 to fraudsters in ‘digital arrest’ scam

The authorities carried out the autopsy of four people who were killed in the clashes which broke out in Sambhal City in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

As per the autopsy, the wounds on the dead bodies of the four killed were not from the bullets of the ammunition used by the police of Uttar Pradesh, said Moradabad divisional commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh on Tuesday (Nov 26).

However, no bullets were recovered from the bodies of the people during the postmortem, Singh said.

The statement of the commissioner came after allegations were made that four people were killed in police firing.

Meanwhile, a local police official said that as per the reports Ayan had a bullet wound in his abdomen which had damaged his liver. The other three suffered wounds on the chest, he said.&nbsp;

He said that antemortem injuries were confirmed on three men in the reports. He added that those injuries were on the knees and elbows of Bilal, the forehead, elbows and knees of Naeem and the knees, hands and legs of Kaif.

He added that the photographs of the bullet wounds and the autopsy reports will be sent for forensic examination to find out which bullet killed them.

According to the local authorities, the police officials in Sambhal only had anti-riot equipment like rubber bullets and tear gas with them.

The authorities carried out the autopsy of four people who were killed in the clashes which broke out in Sambhal City in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. As per the autopsy, the wounds on the dead bodies of the four killed were not from the bullets of the ammunition used by the police of Uttar Pradesh, said Moradabad divisional commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh on Tuesday (Nov 26). However, no bullets were recovered from the bodies of the people during the postmortem, Singh said. The statement of the commissioner came after allegations were made that four people were killed in police firing. Meanwhile, a local police official said that as per the reports Ayan had a bullet wound in his abdomen which had damaged his liver. The other three suffered wounds on the chest, he said. He said that antemortem injuries were confirmed on three men in the reports. He added that those injuries were on the knees and elbows of Bilal, the forehead, elbows and knees of Naeem and the knees, hands and legs of Kaif. He added that the photographs of the bullet wounds and the autopsy reports will be sent for forensic examination to find out which bullet killed them. According to the local authorities, the police officials in Sambhal only had anti-riot equipment like rubber bullets and tear gas with them. Udaipur Violence News:&nbsp;Violent clashes and stone pelting broke out in the north Indian city of Udaipur on Monday (Nov 26) after BJP MLA Vishvaraj Singh Mewar was coronated as the 77th Maharana of Mewar on Monday (Nov 25).&nbsp;

The clashes started after the BJP MLA and his supporters were denied entry inside the palace in the state of Rajasthan because of a stand-off with his cousin Dr Lakshay Raj Singh Mewar, who along with the Maharana's uncle Shreeji Arvind Singh Mewar manage the trust which now runs the palace.

Singh was anointed the titular head after his father Mahendra Singh Mewar died earlier this month.

The row started after 10 pm as the supporters of the MLA started throwing stones and also made attempts to get inside the gates of the palace.

As tensions escalated, others started retaliating inside the palace and stone pelting broke out from the two sides. In the violent brawl, three people suffered injuries as the police made attempts to control the mob.

The Union Cabinet on Monday approved the launch&nbsp;of the National Mission on Natural Farming, with a total outlay of Rs 2481 crore ($ 294 million) as a standalone Centrally Sponsored Scheme.

Briefing reporters after a meeting of the union cabinet, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said a lot of planning has been done in finalising the mission and on the execution strategy.&nbsp;

"PM Modi-led NDA government is committed to the farmers' welfare. Today a big decision has been taken in this regard - the National Mission on Natural Farming. It's a path-breaking decision, as we all know that there is a big requirement in our country to keep the land free of chemicals... This project is estimated to be around Rs 2,481 crores ($ 294 million)," he said.

The mission will promote natural farming in a mission mode across the country. The scheme has a total outlay of Rs 2481 crore ($ 294 million) (Government of India share - Rs.1584 crore ( $187 million); State share - Rs.897 crore ($106 million) till the 15th Finance Commission (2025-26).&nbsp;

A release said the Centre has launched the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) to promote natural farming in mission mode across the country as a standalone Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture &amp; Farmers' Welfare. Rooted in the traditional knowledge inherited from their forefathers, farmers will practise Natural Farming (NF) as a chemical free farming which involves local livestock integrated natural farming methods, diversified crop systems. NF follows local agro-ecological principles rooted in local knowledge, location specific technologies and is evolved as per the local agro-ecology. "NMNF aims at promoting NF practices for providing safe and nutritious food for all.
