After the G20 Summit, Srinagar is now hosting the World Craft Council’s 60th Jubilee. Events organised by the government of Jammu and Kashmir aim to highlight the Valley’s rich craftsmanship and cultural heritage on a global platform.

On the banks of the world-famous Dal Lake, the artisans from across the world will be meeting Kashmiri artisans. The event has brought together 15 international delegates who are WCC members from diverse regions, including Kuwait, Australia, France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Central Asia, and beyond.&nbsp;

Alongside these delegates, artisans from various parts of the world have also gathered to showcase their exceptional craftsmanship, reflecting a rich tapestry of global heritage.

“The relation between Kashmir and the World Craft Council has begun after Srinagar was designated as World Craft City. Having this designation is in direct benefit to the artisans and craft masters of Kashmir. It also puts the artisans on the Global map as the craft city. Two years ago, UNESCO also gave it the title of creative cities and now with the World Craft Council, this will all fall in the direction of bringing Kashmir in focus at a global level. But I have to say that Kashmiris are the most peaceful and hospitable people. Even in the street when we interact with people it just feels like home,”&nbsp;Sa’ad Hani Al-Qaddumi, president of World Crafts Council International.&nbsp;

The delegates were taken on a Craft Safari through the historic lanes of the old city. To experience the intricate artistry and vibrant traditions of the Valley. Some of the artisans from across the world interacted and exchanged ideas with the local artisans.

“We have a family business of fabric production of fabric; this is camel wool with natural cotton and colors. So, our main concept is to do that fabric. We started with camel wool, later on to cotton and also added silk to it. Now we do home decor as well. I think it's very important to do such exchanges as I am aware of the Kashmiri crafts, we have our own technique of embroidery and this kind of event gives us the opportunity to exchange knowledge,” said Merjaan, a delegate from Turkmenistan.

The Adani Group faced another major setback Tuesday (Nov 26) as global ratings agency Moody's revised the outlook for seven of the group entities from ‘stable’ to 'negative'. The group companies that have been placed on the list are Adani Green Energy, Adani Ports, and Adani Transmission, among others.&nbsp;

Earlier, another agency Fitch put two of the group companies—Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) and Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML)—on the "Rating Watch Negative" list.

Last week, Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, and other senior executives were indicted in the US in a bribery case. The Supreme Court of India Tuesday (Nov. 26) rejected a petition seeking to prefer the use of ballot papers over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections. A bench of Justices Vikram Nath and PB Varale noted that the allegations of tampering were selective and were only made by people when they lose polls.

"What happens is, when you win the election, EVMs are not tampered. When you lose the election, EVMs are tampered (with)," the bench noted.

The top court was hearing the petition filed by KA Paul, who argued that the use of ballot papers was necessary "to save democracy." The petition also cited claims made by US billionaire Elon Musk that no EVM in the world was tamper-proof.&nbsp;

He also quoted Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to make a strong case for his argument.

As the city of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh is recovering from the impact of the violence that broke out over the survey of a Mughal-era mosque, Samajwadi Party MP Zia-ur-Rehman Barq and local SP MLA Iqbal Mehmood's son, Sohail Iqbal, have been booked by the police in connection with the incident. The city administration and the police said they have evidence that the MP committed "provocative acts".

The violence led to the deaths of four people, while&nbsp;dozens more, including 24 police and administrative officials, were injured. A total of 25 people have been arrested so far.

Talking about the cause of the deaths, Divisional Commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh said that prima facie it appears that country-made weapons were used. Seven FIRs have been registered over the violence.

"There is evidence against MP Ziaur Rahman Barq that he has committed provocative acts. Action has been taken against him under the provisions of the BNS," Singh said.

Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar said on Monday that besides Barq and Iqbal, four others were also named in the FIR. He added that Barq's "Jama Masjid ki hifazat" (protection of Jama Masjid) remark led to the mobilisation of the mob, as per PTI.

The survey of the mosque was ordered by a local court in response to a petition that claimed that the Shahi Jama Masjid was built on the ruins of a temple. The Hindu side claims that Mughal emperor Babur demolished the temple in 1529.

A mob threw stones at the survey team and torched vehicles. District Magistrate Rajender Pensiya said that people who lived within a radius of 10-15 kilometres were responsible for the vandalism.

One survey of the mosque was completed last Tuesday, and this was the second survey.

On Tuesday (Nov 26), the incumbent chief minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan in the Indian city of Mumbai.&nbsp;

The resignation was tendered by Shinde in the presence of Deputy CMs Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis.

In the Maharashtra assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance which consists&nbsp;of NCP, Shiv Sena and BJP clinched a massive victory over the Maha Vikas Agadi.

However, Sena chief Shinde said on X, "After the great victory of the Mahayuti alliance, our government will be formed once again in the state. As a grand alliance, we contested the election together and are still together today."

"Out of love for me, some people have appealed to everyone to gather together and come to Mumbai. I am deeply grateful for your love. But I appeal that no one should come together in my support in such a manner," he added.

Meanwhile, Sena spokesperson Naresh Mhaske proposed the 'Bihar model' of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the state.&nbsp;

"We feel Shinde should be the chief minister, just like in Bihar where BJP did not look at the numbers but still made JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar the CM. Senior leaders of the Mahayuti (in Maharashtra) will ultimately take a decision," Mhaske said.&nbsp;

However, &nbsp;BJP's Pravin Darekar said the mandate of the people is with Devendra Fadnavis.&nbsp;

"The people of Maharashtra stood behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In my opinion, Fadnavis should become the chief minister. Maharashtra needs an astute and academic leader. He kept the alliance united, gave our allies candidates, and even stepped back when required. He has always maintained coordination," said the MLC.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, a BJP leader said that the party will not rush into the announcement of the chief ministerial candidate till the distribution of portfolios in the new government of Maharashtra is finalised.

"The central leadership is in no hurry to name a candidate for the chief minister's post. We have secured a decisive mandate, and the priority now is to work out a comprehensive plan for government formation. That includes finalising ministerial portfolios and distribution of key posts such as district guardian ministers," said a state BJP leader, while speaking to PTI.&nbsp;

According to reports, the new Chief Minister of the state will be sworn in today, (Tuesday, November 26).

Fadnavis vs Shinde: Tussle for power continues in Maharashtra as CM resigns

A top Army general who was tasked with reviewing eight Colonel-rank women officers under his command has cited some “serious concerns” about them. He has listed "mundane ego issues" and "lack of empathy" among several other matters in the "highly critical" report.

Notably, two years back, the Army promoted 108 woman officers to the rank of Colonel following the Supreme Court's landmark judgment.

The review was carried out by Lieutenant General Rajeev Puri upon completion of his tenure as commander of the 17 Mountain Strike Corps on November 20. He wrote to the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, Lt General Ram Chander Tiwari, listing his findings.

His review points to "serious concerns regarding interpersonal relations" and a "lack of tact and understanding" among the Colonel-rank women officers. It adds that this is mainly because they lack an "understanding of the personal requirements of unit personnel".

It further states that they have an "exaggerated tendency to complain" and "mundane ego issues which spiral out of control".

In the review, Lt General Puri further says that the Colonel-rank women officers have a "my way or highway kind of approach to decision making".

The review states that there has been an "increase in the number of officer management issues in units commanded by women officers" in the last year.&nbsp;

"Most cases pertain to lack of tact and understanding of the personal requirements of unit personnel, especially officers. The emphasis is more on conflict termination through might, rather than conflict resolution through mutual respect. A prejudice and mistrust was evident in few of the cases in the recent past," the senior officer wrote in the letter dated October 1," it states.

Lt General Puri states in the review that due to this, there were "high levels of stress in the units". He also stated that it was a "routine" practice for women officers to try and take credit for things, instead of "attributing it to subordinates and encouraging them".

He says that some women officers suffer from a "serious misplaced sense of entitlement" and said they sought "immediate gratification for minor achievements".

The review also states that since the woman officers have not been exposed to operational tasks, there is a "lack of understanding of hardships and resultant lack of compassion for the troops involved in these tasks".

In a bid to resolve the issues, &nbsp;Lt General Puri calls for a focus on "gender neutrality" instead of "gender equality" in the review.&nbsp;

Recent incidents of Myanmarese/Rohingya fishing vessels poaching in the Andaman seas, within the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone, have led to increased surveillance by Indian agencies.&nbsp;

This heightened vigil off India's eastern archipelago is what led to the country's biggest drug haul - 5.5 tonnes (5,500kg) of the synthetic narcotic substance Methamphetamine from a Myanmarese fishing boat "Soe Wai Yan Htoo".

This massive drug haul by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), dwarfs all others that preceded it. Typically, the ICG seizes between 1 and 1.5 tonnes of drugs (of various types) in an entire year.&nbsp;

In this case, in a single day, in a single operation, more than 5.5 tonnes of Meth was seized from a single boat.&nbsp;

As per conservative estimates, the Meth is valued at ₹5 crore/kg, which puts the latest seizure value at ₹27,500 crore. For perspective, this sum is more than the cost of the Indian indigenous Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant, which is the biggest and most sophisticated surface warship built in India. ₹27,000crore is also more than twice the annual budget of the Indian Space Agency ISRO (which hovers around ₹12,500crore a year). Some estimates say that Meth costs ₹10 crore/kg or more.&nbsp;

According to the Indian Coast Guard, the Andaman Seas were kept under strict surveillance owing to recent inputs from the joint interrogation of an apprehended poacher.&nbsp;

The now apprehended Myanmarese boat was first spotted by the ICG's Dornier-228 maritime patrol aircraft. The foreign-origin boat was seen operating in a suspicious manner, following which the information was passed on to the Joint Operation Centre (JOC), which subsequently deployed an ICG Fast Patrol Vessel, ICG Ship Aruna Asaf Ali from Sri Vijaya Puram (formerly Port Blair) to intercept the suspicious Myanmarese boat.

Despite the stormy conditions caused by the weather system in the Bay of Bengal, the ICG ship braved rough sea conditions and proceeded to intercept the suspicious Myanmarese boat. The ICG ship shadowed the vessel for several hours, till early morning Sunday, 24th November.&nbsp;

At the opportune moment, the team from ICG Ship Aruna Asaf Ali boarded the suspicious Myanmarese boat for investigation. The boat was eight nautical miles (approx 15kms) off Barren Island in Indian Territorial waters when the joint interrogation was carried out around 6:30 am IST, Sunday.&nbsp;

Subsequently, the six-member boat crew were identified as Myanmarese nationals. During rummaging of the boat, the boarding party detected a massive quantity of a white crystalline compound and one portable Inmarsat Satellite phone. The white crystalline compound was anticipated to be contraband, and hence the boat was apprehended.

Thereafter, the boat was brought to Sri Vijaya Puram for further investigation. ICG Ship Aruna Asaf Ali, along with the apprehended boat, entered Sri Vijaya Puram at 5 am on Monday, 25th November.

This operation represents a monumental success in India's fight against illegal drug trafficking and poaching in national waters. The seizure is the largest-ever drug haul by the Indian Coast Guard in maritime history, highlighting the growing threat of transnational maritime narcotics trade.&nbsp;

The foreign-origin boat was seen operating in a suspicious manner, following which the information was passed on to the Joint Operation Centre (JOC), which subsequently deployed an ICG Fast Patrol Vessel, ICG Ship Aruna Asaf Ali from Sri Vijaya Puram (formerly Port Blair) to intercept the suspicious Myanmarese boat. Despite the stormy conditions caused by the weather system in the Bay of Bengal, the ICG ship braved rough sea conditions and proceeded to intercept the suspicious Myanmarese boat. The ICG ship shadowed the vessel for several hours, till early morning Sunday, 24th November. At the opportune moment, the team from ICG Ship Aruna Asaf Ali boarded the suspicious Myanmarese boat for investigation. The boat was eight nautical miles (approx 15kms) off Barren Island in Indian Territorial waters when the joint interrogation was carried out around 6:30 am IST, Sunday. Subsequently, the six-member boat crew were identified as Myanmarese nationals. During rummaging of the boat, the boarding party detected a massive quantity of a white crystalline compound and one portable Inmarsat Satellite phone. The white crystalline compound was anticipated to be contraband, and hence the boat was apprehended. Thereafter, the boat was brought to Sri Vijaya Puram for further investigation. ICG Ship Aruna Asaf Ali, along with the apprehended boat, entered Sri Vijaya Puram at 5 am on Monday, 25th November. This operation represents a monumental success in India's fight against illegal drug trafficking and poaching in national waters. Sidhant Sibal: How do you see India&nbsp;and Moldova relations?

Dan Perciun: It has indeed been growing very fast. We will soon have a high-level visit, the visit of the foreign minister. We had the agricultural minister, who is visiting India. So we are looking to develop the economic side of the relationship, also the cultural side. And, of course, the educational element is very, very important to us. Sidhant Sibal: If you can talk about how many Indian students are there in Moldova, and what are the facilities for these Indian students in Moldova that they are there, and they find Moldova as a place, a good place to study for higher education?

Dan Perciun: So far, we have around 3000 Indian students. But you have to know that Moldova has a population of 2.6 million. So that is actually the largest student population, international student population, that we have. So we are very happy to have that many Indian students already. They have come so far for about 10 years, mostly for medicine. But the purpose of our visit here is also to diversify and see how we can attract more to other specialties, be it medicine, veterinary medicine, be it economics, business, psychology, law and so on. So really, this is the purpose of this visit. What we have to offer is high-quality, affordable and safe education. I have been meeting Indian students recently. I've asked them exactly this, Why have you chosen to come? And they said the main reasons are because it's safe and it's affordable and it's good quality.&nbsp;I really believe there is way, way more that can be done. We've been to an educational fair this week. We will be meeting Indian officials to make ourselves better known and to convince more Indian students to explore Moldova as a very good, very good educational option.

Sidhant Sibal: So your visit is the first visit by a Moldovan minister to Delhi. So what are the key focus areas? And as you pointed out that you want to meet the officials here. So if you can elaborate on the agenda of your Delhi visit.

Dan Perciun: Well, we are meeting the education&nbsp;minister very soon, since I really believe it has to be a two-way street. So yes, indeed, we are looking for more Indian students, but we are very happy to explore how more Moldovan students could come to India as well. I think international education in this day and age, with all the geopolitical strides that exist, is very important to build long-lasting peace, improve cultural relations, and to get to know each other better. That's why it's not only about Indians coming to Moldova. It's also about Moldovans coming here and developing that kind of relationship, which will be the foundation for future growth for all our countries. At the same time, we'll be meeting the department for husbandry. It's another important meeting we are looking forward to, since we are looking to get Indian accreditation for our veterinary medicine, which is in progress, and I'm sure that as a result of these high-level meetings, we will move more swiftly. We have also been to an educational fair, met Indian students, talked to them, and listened to them. We've come with a large delegation. There are 15 of us here. We've brought the rectors, and vice rectors of the largest universities in the country. So that is also very, very important to us. And of course, you're also meeting some recruiters.&nbsp;

Sidhant Sibal: What are the areas when it comes to higher education, where Indian students can go and study, whether it's STEM or whether it's humanities, if you can talk about that, and particularly universities, if you can point out that how important these universities are for not only Moldova, but if an Indian student goes to a particular university, he will get better opportunities, not only in Moldova but in Europe and in the West.&nbsp;

Dan Perciun: Well, what you have to know is our universities are internationally accredited by European institutions. Our Medical University has also been accredited by a US accreditation body, something which we're very proud of. Medicine has been a long-standing opportunity that has been out there and is most popular among Indian students. So the testimony from the Medical University is definitely on the map. We are putting now on the map our Technical University for software engineering, animation, for veterinary medicine. They joined us on this trip as well. Also with us here is the Academy of Economic Sciences, our Pedagogical University. So we brought really the best that we have

Sidhant Sibal: When the invasion of Ukraine started by Russia in 2022 your country provided a lot of refuge to a lot of people, including Indian students. Perhaps you can shed light on how Moldova provided a safe place for many of these Indian students.&nbsp;

Dan Perciun: Well, indeed, when the war started, we had, over a very short period of time, nearly half a million refugees that had passed from Moldova. Many of them stayed. We've all welcomed everyone. We've assisted with housing, food, and travel arrangements for those who wanted to return back to their countries, and Indian students were amongst them, because many of them chose to study in Ukraine, as you well know, and we've catered all to all their needs. There has been very good collaboration with the authorities to assist with travel. Actually, to this day, because of the war, we still have Indian students in Ukraine, who are gradually relocating to Moldova and coming to our universities to continue their studies.&nbsp;

Sidhant Sibal: What message will you give to many of the Indian students or their parents who will be watching your interview as to why they should choose Muldo as a destination for higher studies?&nbsp;

Dan Perciun: Indian society is a society that puts a lot of value on education, and it is wonderful to see how much recognition there is of the power of education, social and economic, personal, and family level, but also for the country. What we are offering is high-quality education at an affordable price, in a safe place, in internationally accredited universities, with the possibility to come back to India, of course, for those who wish to do so, or for those who are looking for international careers and opportunities to be able to continue further on. We are investing a lot in our universities. At the moment, Moldova is looking to become a member country of the European Union. By 2030 we are already a candidate country, which means that our standards are aligning to European standards. And there is the financial investment also there to have the laboratories, to have the practical experience, which is so much asked for by Indian students, and actually by Moldovan students as well. You know, one of the conversations we had at the fair with a young Indian girl. She was saying, I really want a very practical higher education, not so much theory, I want to develop the skills which are asked for in the labor market, and that is something that we can provide.&nbsp;

Sidhant Sibal: So you mentioned affordability, and that is something that many Indians will be watching closely. So in terms of affordability, say, for example, a student goes to study engineering, how much it will cost, including the stay, relative to perhaps other countries?&nbsp;

Dan Perciun: Well, so for a semester, because obviously this is how you count things. Here it would be about 90,000 local currency, and then in dollars, it would be about $1,300, per semester.

Sidhant Sibal: My last question to you is, while the relationship is growing substantially, your embassy is functioning very well here, India does not have an embassy in your country. It's working from a neighboring country. So what will be your request for the Indian government, because the presence of an Indian Embassy is always helpful for the local Indian population, the Indian students if you can perhaps talk about this issue.&nbsp;

Dan Perciun: Well, I have to say the Indian authorities have been extraordinary. We have been able to have these high-level visits, and high-level meetings, which we are very grateful for. But of course, going forward, once our embassy here is officially launched in December, we would very much welcome an Indian Embassy in Moldova. As the relationships grow, as more Indians are coming, and as the exchanges intensify, I think there are a lot of shared opportunities.&nbsp;

India's Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the PAN 2.0 Project for the Income Tax Department on Monday (Nov. 25).&nbsp;

The CCEA chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the project which will provide a free-of-cost upgrade to the PAN Card with a QR Code, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced while sharing the decisions taken in the Union Cabinet meeting on Monday.&nbsp;

The project will enable a technology-driven transformation of taxpayer registration services and will have significant benefits.&nbsp;

Twenty-year-old Sania Zehra has attained the title of Bee Queen of Kashmir Valley. Sania is the only female Beekeeper in Kashmir and that's not it, she at this young age, has helped her father grow the beekeeping business by over 400 per cent. She has become a huge inspiration for women across the country.

Sania is breaking all the gender stereotypes by choosing a profession not many women would take up. She has learned the art of beekeeping from her father, but it has not come easy.&nbsp;

She has been stung by these bees dozens of times, but that did not make her give up but eventually made her stronger to take up this profession. Sania has also become a victim of online trolling after she was called the Bee Queen of Kashmir. But she says she has learned to look at the love received only and ignore the hate.

My father had 150 colonies of bees, and after I joined the business, we have more than 650 bee colonies,'' said Saniya.

Telangana government declines $11.8 million Adani donation for Young India Skills University

A 33-year-old businesswoman, identified as S Jeeva, died by suicide last Friday (November 22) and left behind an 11-page death note in which she alleged that she was stripped by a senior police officer and asked to pay a bribe of Rs 2.5 million (approximately $29664.74).&nbsp;

As per media reports, Bengaluru Deputy Superintendent of Police Kanakalakshmi had abetted the suicide of the woman and the police have now filed a case against him under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 besides relevant sections of the BNS.

The woman's dead body was found at her residence, and in the suicide note she had accused the Crime Investigation Department (CID) officer of harassing her.

The woman was a lawyer and ran a wood material shop in the Indian city of Bengaluru.&nbsp;

<h2>S Jeeva appears before CID&nbsp;</h2>

In the Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation scam, S Jeeva was one of the accused who was accused of misusing the funds that were to be given as loans to the Bhovi community members as part of a job scheme.&nbsp;

The CID had been investigating the case. The CID was permitted by the Karnataka High Court to question S. Jeeva between November 14 and November 23 over video conferencing.&nbsp;

However, the CID asked her to appear in person. S Jeeva reached the CID office on November 14, where she was stripped, harassed, and interrogated if she had any cyanide with her.&nbsp;

As per the suicide note, the police officer asked for a bribe from Jeeva and did not accept her submitted documents.&nbsp;

The woman was allegedly harassed for the next few days. As per the FIR, the shop of S. Jeeva was also visited by the police officer, where she was humiliated in the presence of her employees.&nbsp;

The victim received a call from the fraudsters at around 10 pm on August 8, she said in her complaint.

The Gautam Buddha cyber crime police station has registered a case and started an investigation into the matter, Inspector-in-charge Vijay Kumar Gautam said.

According to the complaint of Nidhi Paliwal, a resident of Sector-41, the fraudsters sent her a complaint via WhatsApp and asked her to send Rs 34 lakh ($40,000).

An accused also video-called her on Skype with the video switched off, Paliwal said in her complaint.

“The fact that the Constitution was adopted and actively given to themselves by the people of India on 26th of November 1949, does not make any difference. The date of the adoption would not curtail or restrict the power under Article 368 of the Constitution,” said the CJI, while reading out the judgement.

It has never prevented the government. There’s this private sector which is thriving, doing well… The word socialism used over here is in a different context that the State must ensure it’s a welfare state and that there should be equality of opportunity. That’s done through so many Articles. Then why worry about that score? Why go into all that?” said the bench.
