<h2>Vehicles stopped mid-way</h2>
A day earlier, hundreds of vehicles heading towards Prayagraj from Madhya Pradesh were stopped to prevent overcrowding in the city, according to news agency PTI.&nbsp;
The police urged people to find a safe shelter as the traffic was stopped. In Katni district, police vehicles announced that the traffic was stopped until Monday (Feb 10) and people were asked to return towards Katni and Jabalpur.
&ldquo;It is impossible to move towards Prayagraj today as there is a traffic jam of 200-300 kilometres,&rdquo; the PTI report quoted police as saying.

Eyewitnesses claimed that vehicles were stuck for 48 hours in long traffic jams. &ldquo;It is taking almost 10-12 hours to cover a 50-km distance,&rdquo; a man said.
In-charge Inspector General of Police (Rewa zone) Saket Prakash Pandey said the traffic jams were caused by the rush on Sunday (Feb 9). He added that the situation is likely to improve in a couple of days.
Pandey said that Madhya Pradesh Police is allowing vehicle movement after coordinating with Prayagraj authorities.&nbsp;
Arrangements are also being made for pilgrims for their safe stay, food and water.

In a separate incident in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, a 73-year-old man died when he suffered a heart attack and collapsed on stage while dancing during a yoga program.
Similarly, in April 2024, an 18-year-old in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut collapsed and later died while she was dancing at her sister's pre-wedding festivities.

"Thirty-one Naxalites have been killed in the encounter," he said.
A huge cache of weapons and explosives has also been seized from the site, the official said.
Two security personnel, one belonging to the state police's District Reserve Guard and the other from the Special Task Force, were also killed in the gunfight, and two others suffered injuries, he said.
The two injured jawans, reported to be out of danger, were being airlifted to a better medical facility for treatment, he said.

Atishi resigns as chief minister after AAP faces massive defeat in Delhi

Mumbai reported its first case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) on Friday when a 64-year-old woman was diagnosed with the rare nerve disorder, civic officials said.
GBS is a rare condition in which a person's immune system attacks the peripheral nerves, resulting in muscle weakness, loss of sensation in the legs and/or arms, as well as problems swallowing or breathing.
Talking to PTI, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and its state-appointed administrator, Bhushan Gagrani, said the patient was currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a civic-run hospital.
BMC officials said the woman, who resides in Andheri (East) area of the city, was hospitalised with a history of fever and diarrhoea that was followed by ascending paralysis.
The woman was initially hospitalized on January 21. Within three days, she developed difficulty in walking and progressive weakness in her lower limbs, they said.

A lumbar puncture showed mild protein elevation, and plasmapheresis has been initiated as part of the treatment, and four more cycles of the procedure were planned, they informed.
Plasmapheresis is a process in which the liquid part of the blood, or plasma, is separated from the blood cells.
The patient has a history of hypertension and surgeries, including tubal ligation and an appendectomy, said the officials.
Another BMC official said the woman tested positive for "nerve conduction study," though a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is pending.
CSF analysis is a group of tests that help diagnose diseases and conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord.
In GBS, severe cases can result in near-total paralysis. The prevalence of this disorder is more common among adults and in males, though people of all ages can be affected.
The number of suspected GBS deaths in Maharashtra's Pune district stood at six, while the count of suspected and confirmed cases in that city was 173.
