Vadodara police have arrested Rakshit Chaurasia, a law student, following a fatal accident near Muktanand Crossroads in the Karelibaug area around 12:30 AM. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Panna Momaya confirmed the arrest, saying that Chaurasia, who was driving the vehicle, may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, the 20-year-old man who rammed his car into multiple vehicles in Gujarat’s Vadodara, killing a woman and leaving four others injured, claimed on Friday (March 14) that he was not drunk at the time of the incident, late Thursday night (March 13). Vadodara police have arrested Rakshit Chaurasia, a law student, following a fatal accident near Muktanand Crossroads in the Karelibaug area around 12:30 AM. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Panna Momaya confirmed the arrest, saying that Chaurasia, who was driving the vehicle, may have been under the influence of alcohol. Eyewitnesses recall horrific accident According to witnesses, Chaurasia appeared intoxicated at the scene and was shouting 'another round, another round' after stepping out of the wrecked car. Bystanders captured videos showing his erratic behavior before handing him over to the police. Chaurasia, however, denied being drunk. He claimed that he was driving at 50 kmph when he lost control 'due to potholes on the road'. He also expressed deep regret, calling the accident an 'understatement' and saying that he wished to meet the victim’s family to apologise, acknowledging that 'sorry is a very small word'. The deceased, Hemali Patel, was riding a scooter when the speeding car hit her and another two-wheeler. CCTV footage confirms that the car dragged the victims before coming to a stop. Dr Sahil Kundra said, "Five patients were admitted to the hospital. Two patients are serious and have been shifted to Sri Guru Ram Das Medical College &amp; Hospital, Vallah. Three patients have been relieved after getting first aid. Out of the two patients, one is on ventilator."
Earlier, Kotwali SHO Sarmel Singh said, "Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has handed over a person named Zulfan to the police. There was a clash inside the Golden Temple premises, and people of both sides suffered injuries. The workers of SGPC have also been injured. Action will be taken according to law.
"The patients were admitted to Guru Ramdas Hospital in Amritsar. The hospital is run by the SGPC.

"My father was an MLA even before I was born. Now, he is old and living in our village, leading his life peacefully. It just happened to be a coincidence, probably I could have been somebody else as well," he said, adding "It's just that he happened to be a DMK MLA and the DMK government changed the design."
"I do not see anything else beyond it as a pure coincidence which has happened," he noted.

The cases of swine flu virus infections saw a sharp rise in Delhi and surrounding regions in the past few weeks with people complaining about symptoms including fever, sore throat, cough, headache, stomach troubles, joint pain and respiratory issues. Dr Baidya said, "People from the same office having more than 50% of the people attending the same office have similar symptoms of viral-like fever. We can say COVID like viral fever or influenza-like illness. We are seeing such cases in our OPDs (Outpatient Department) which have increased to more than 50% in the last one month."&nbsp;

<h2>What can be done to prevent the spread of such cases?&nbsp;</h2>
Dr Baidya said that it is important that all high-risk individuals like people who are old age, people who have respiratory disease, pre-existing lung disease, diabetics, heart patients, cancer patients and children, should be checked for respiratory viruses panel testing to understand which kind of virus it is so that proper timely intervention can help with better recovery of the patient.&nbsp;

1) Somebody who is having symptoms at home should be wearing a mask till the patient is symptomatic at least.&nbsp; 2) Coughing and sneezing should done on tissue paper, which should be thrown immediately in the dustbin. &nbsp; 3) During social gatherings it is important at the individual level to take adequate action to prevent such viruses from spreading.&nbsp;
Experts have often said that building up immunity is also important, like taking adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables, antioxidants and diet. Maintaining a good amount of vitamin D and vitamin C intake also helps in building up immunity against these viruses.&nbsp;

"As a doctor, I recommend managing cases of flu with a more preventive approach than treatment-based. Since it is extremely infectious, prevention is more important or should be focused upon along with treatment part," Dr Mitra said.&nbsp;

Dr Mitra explained that these patients are being advised to take paracetamols for fever and cough when required. 'Holika Dahan' celebrations affected as hailstorm and rain hits parts of Delhi-NCR

ANI | Amid reports of an alleged ban on Holi celebrations in Santiniketan, West Bengal Minister of State Birbaha Hansda on Thursday clarified that the government did not ban Holi celebrations in Santiniketan, but rather made a request.

A row erupted on Thursday after West Bengal Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari claimed that the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government had reportedly banned Holi celebrations at Santiniketan's Sonajhuri Haat.
Visuals from the Santiniketan Sonajhuri Haat area show a banner stating that the region is a protected forest area, where playing Holi, parking cars, videography, and flying drones are prohibited.
Speaking to media, Adhikari said the ban isn't limited to one area and added that the Birbhum Additional SP ordered that Holi celebrations in Santiniketan should end by 10 am due to it being Friday.

Upon observing delays in some projects, he ordered officials to speed up the work while ensuring quality," the statement read.
With summer approaching, he instructed officials to ensure an uninterrupted water supply, it added.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath calls for ‘permanent action’ against loudspeakers at religious places ahead of Holi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mauritius saw the two countries sign partnerships across several fronts. These included exchanges to India via the Char Dham and Ramayana trail, cooperation on the development of curriculum for school education, a labour recruitment MOU, and the establishment of the Directorate of Science and Technology in Mauritius. During the two-day visit of PM Modi, political exchanges took place between India and Mauritius. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), PM Modi and Prime Minister of Mauritius Navinchandra Ramgoolam acknowledged that their bilateral relations enjoy a high degree of trust and mutual understanding at various levels, complemented by regular high-level exchanges and visits between the two countries.
Noting that the participation of Mauritius as a Guest country under India's G20 Presidency had deepened engagement across all sectors, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continue these engagements.
Notably, both leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation on sharing best practices on parliamentary proceedings and agreed to intensify interactions between Parliamentarians of the two countries.
On the front of cultural ties and people to people exchanges, the leaders agreed to further deepen the close bonds of friendship through several initiatives such as providing support to the Mahatma Gandhi Institute in preserving the documented records of indentured workers from India, including through specialised training and institutional support through the National Archives of India, strengthening diaspora engagement through Know India Programme, Connecting Roots, Pravasi Bhartiya Divas, and scholarships and cooperate on research related to Girmitya's legacy, documentation of their contribution in strengthening people to people ties and promoting tourism and cultural exchanges through visits to Char Dham and Ramayana trail as well as ancient places of religious worship in India; and cooperating to expedite implementation of the MOU on labour recruitment to facilitate labour mobility between Mauritius and India.
As per the statement, the leaders noted that the Mauritius-India bilateral partnership in the domains of development, defence and maritime security, and people-to-people ties is a shining example of cooperation and sets a standard for bilateral partnership in the region.
Both leaders agreed to continue providing orientation and guidance towards elevating the relationship into an enhanced Strategic Partnership, which is mutually beneficial, caters to Mauritius's developmental needs, and contributes to shared objectives in the region.
PM Ramgoolam thanked PM Modi for his presence as the Guest of Honour at the National Day celebrations marking the 57th Anniversary of Mauritius's independence and the 33rd Anniversary of the Republic of Mauritius.
Upon the PM receiving the highest honour of Mauritius during his visit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote on X, "Privileged to witness the conferment of the highest honour of Mauritius, the 'Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean' on Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Mauritius saw the two countries sign partnerships across several fronts.
