<p>Union Minister Naidu confirmed that the Ministry issued strict instructions to all airline operators not to hike airfares.&nbsp;</p>
<p>He further said that the ministry is ensuring the safe travel of tourists from Srinagar, adding that fares are being monitored and kept at reasonable levels.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In addition to the four extra flights already announced, three more flights to Delhi have been added for today&mdash;IndiGo 6E 3203 (Dep: 1700, Arr: 1800), IndiGo 6E 3103 (Dep: 1800, Arr: 1930), and a SpiceJet flight scheduled to depart at 10:30 PM. All airlines operating from Srinagar have waived cancellation and rescheduling charges to support passengers," he said in a post on X.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The minister further assured that food and water are being provided at the airport and an extra tent has been set up outside for those waiting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier today, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) issued an advisory, urging all commercial airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, to increase flight frequency from Srinagar and waive penalties on booking changes.</p>
<p>"The advisory cited "unexpected demand from tourists" and emphasised the need for "uninterrupted connectivity from Srinagar to various destinations across India," DGCA said.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The airlines were further requested to provide all necessary assistance to tourists facing unexpected circumstances and challenges during this difficult time.&nbsp;</p>

A day after the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, as many as 3337 passengers flew out of Srinagar in just six hours, in 20 flights, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said. On Tuesday, terrorists opened fire at tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, killing at least 26 people. Later, The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack. In addition to the four extra flights already announced, three more flights to Delhi have been added for today—IndiGo 6E 3203 (Dep: 1700, Arr: 1800), IndiGo 6E 3103 (Dep: 1800, Arr: 1930), and a SpiceJet flight scheduled to depart at 10:30 PM. All airlines operating from Srinagar have waived cancellation and rescheduling charges to support passengers," he said in a post on X. The minister further assured that food and water are being provided at the airport and an extra tent has been set up outside for those waiting. In 2023, a record-breaking 2.1 crore tourists visited the Union Territory and in 2024, the number reached up to 2.36 crore, according to an ET report. J&K terror attack: Not just the civilians, but the spirit of Pahalgam's unity was attacked on that meadow

<p>Business was as usual at the popular tourist destination of Baisaran in south Kashmir&rsquo;s Pahalgam. Little did anyone know that soon the popular meadow surrounded by dense forests would become a scene of terror attack in which 26 tourists would have lost their lives.</p>
<p>As several tourists were roaming the Baisaran Valley &ndash; six kilometres from the resort town of Pahalgam - &nbsp;two or three terrorists reportedly clad in army uniforms, emerged from the dense forests and opened indiscriminate fire on the tourists at around 3pm Tuesday.</p>

Pahalgam terror attack: PM Modi chairs high-level cabinet committee meeting on security

<p>A woman who survived the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday (Apr 22) that killed at least 27, believes she must have done something good in life to survive the deadly terror attack.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Neha alias Kishori Waghulade, who works as a casual announcer with the All India Radio (AIR) in Maharashtra's Jalgaon city, was visiting Pahalgam with a group of holiday-makers. She was admiring the picturesque beauty of the Baisaran meadows, a prime tourist location, when gunshots echoed in the upper reaches of Pahalgam, where at least 27 people were gunned down by terrorists.</p>

<p>&ldquo;I must have done something good in life, that&rsquo;s why I am still alive,&rdquo; she told her husband after surviving the terror attack, as cited by PTI. Her husband, Tushar Waghulade, said his wife went to Kashmir with a group of friends on April 15.&nbsp;</p>
<p>&ldquo;The group was in Pahalgam. I had not been in touch with her for two days because of work. When I called her around 2 pm on Tuesday, she said there was firing and a terror attack was taking place. She told me she was safe and would contact me later,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;Between 7.30 pm and 8 pm, she told me she was fine. She mentioned ambulances and that more security personnel were arriving. She said some tourists had died, but her group was safe,&rdquo; Tushar said. &ldquo;She told me that during the afternoon call there was a loud noise and people were panicking. After she hung up, I assumed her group had been moved to a safer place.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Army&rsquo;s swift response</strong></h2>
<p>Tushar said that his wife described how the Indian Army responded to the situation in Pahalgam. &ldquo;She said the Army acted fast. They first hid tourists in vehicles and ambulances, and later shifted everyone to a safe place about 1.5 km from the attack site. Many tourists spent the night there,&rdquo; he said.</p>
<p>The group continued their journey the next morning to Katra.</p>

In this regard, the airlines are advised to take swift action to increase the number of flights in response to heightened demand and also to ensure uninterrupted connectivity from Srinagar to various destinations across India, facilitating evacuation of stranded tourists,&rdquo; the DGCA said on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Bengaluru techie Bharat Bhushan and his wife, Sujata, were enjoying their vacation in J&amp;K's Pahalgam when armed men rushed in and began shooting at the tourists. This is one of the deadliest attacks in the Valley in recent times, claiming at least 28 lives.</p>
<p>Speaking to the media, Sujata's mother said, &ldquo;Our daughter called around 2:45 PM yesterday and informed us about the situation. It has been five years since her marriage. Only after her call did we come to know what had happened."</p>

<p>As the terror attack shook the scenic tourist attraction of J&amp;K's Pahalgam, killing at least 27, a list with names of victims was being circulated. But fate had written a different story for Maharashtra's Santosh Laxman Jagdale, who had a mention in the said list.</p>
<p>"I am Santosh Laxman Jagdale. My namesake, Santosh Eknath Jagdale, also from Maharashtra, was killed in the attack," the 49-year-old juice seller told news agency PTI.</p>

<p>The news of the attack spread like wildfire; rage, fear, and sadness gripped the country. Well-wishers couldn't help but check on Jagdale, he says his phone wouldn't stop buzzing.</p>
<p>He said, "I have been getting calls from my village people, kin and friends, asking about my well-being."</p>
<p>He, along with his wife and friends, was at the tourist location. "We left the spot of the attack an hour before the firing began, unaware that the decision to return to Pahalgam would save our lives."</p>

<p>They were travelling by car, and as they reached their hotel, they got the news of what unfolded at the very location they were visiting. Luck or fate, the four are safe and are looking forward to returning home.</p>
<p>"I am now waiting to catch the first flight home from Srinagar," he said, while adding, "I haven't been able to get flight tickets so far," he added.</p>

<p>Kashmir's Pahalgam witnessed a deadly attack on tourists on Tuesday (Apr 22) that claimed at least 27 lives. It was while enjoying the breezy weather and exploring the lush green meadows of Baisaran that armed men held tourists at gunpoint and shot at close range.</p>
<p>The attack is said to have been orchestrated and planned by The Resistance Front, which is an offshoot of the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to sources, Lashkar commander Adil Gouri, who went to Pakistan from India in 2018, was instrumental in planning this attack.
