The EC also assured that “all eligible electors will be included in the draft electoral roll to be published on August 1”. Of the 52 lakh names removed, 18 lakh voters were reported dead, 26 lakh had shifted to different constituencies, and 7 lakh were enrolled at two places, the Commission said two days before the draft lists are expected.The poll body also assured that all the eligible voters will be included in the list.&nbsp;“As per the SIR order dated 24.06.2025, from August 1 to September 1, 2025, a full one-month will be available to any member of the public to file objections for any additions, deletions and rectification in Draft Electoral Rolls,” the EC said in a statement.Each voter who submitted the enumeration form with or without documents will be included in the draft roll that would be published on August 1. Besides, voters who were unable to submit enumeration forms, can be included in final rolls if they submit a claim in the prescribed form along with the declaration.After the completion of the entire process, the final roll will be published on September 30, it added. We look to India to pressure Israel to stop withholding the Palestinian tax money, because the Israelis are withholding Palestinian tax money for more than three months. Of course, part of it is for more than many years. We are talking about $2 billion that is being withheld by the Israeli government. Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas in a clear message and a personal message to PM Narendra Modi, called him to use his political leverage, to pressure Israel to free the Palestinian tax money and also to use his leverage as a Prime Minister. For example, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) itself is taking aid for Gaza, unfortunately, they are not able to take it to Gaza because of the Israeli blockade. We look forward to India using its heavy political weight, good relations with Israel. to put political pressure for the benefit of the Palestinian people.&nbsp;Sidhant Sibal: The letter that was sent by the Palestinian side to the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. India is one of the countries that established BRICS. India is a key player, when it comes to the global political arena. We again look forward to India, and Palestine's President in a special letter to his Excellency, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, calling for the two issues that I already mentioned. And so we look for India to use again, it is a heavy political weight worldwide, for the benefit of the Palestinian people, to end the starvation war that Israel is launching, the Israel blockade.&nbsp;Sidhant Sibal: What's the status of the Indian infrastructure projects, Indian projects, community projects in Palestine, both in West Bank and in Gaza. &nbsp;Abdallah M. After a video went viral showing a man eating chicken inside a vegetarian restaurant run by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in London, the British-African YouTuber Cenzo has apologised for his actions. After the clip went viral for the wrong reasons, Cenzo received massive backlash over social media. In the clip, he can be seen entering the vegetarian restaurant and asking the staff if meat is served there. When the staff deny, the man pulls out a box of KFC chicken and starts eating it inside the eatery.&nbsp;In a video message, Cenzo said that “he stepped over their line and began to eat chicken in a vegan restaurant, which had a Hindu-associated community. My actions were ill-timed, irresponsible and after doing research on the restaurant... They dug open the pit in which they found the victim's rotting body.&nbsp;Chaman had dug a 3.5-foot-deep and 6-foot-long pit in their house, reported NDTV, adding the tiles were laid at an expense of Rs 1200.&nbsp;Vijay had received Rs 6 lakh as an insurance police a month ago. She used his phone to access his bank account and later withdrew an unknown assign.&nbsp;"They (brothers) called him, but his phone was switched&nbsp;off. Hence, they came down to his house and enquired with his wife, who told them her husband had gone out for some work. It directed all the restaurant owners to display their licence and registration certificates in line with the statutory requirements as required under the Food Safety and Standards Act and posted the matter for hearing after two weeks for compliance. The court passed the order on Trinamool Congress lawmaker Mahua Moitra and academic Apoorvanand Jha’s separate pleas challenging the state government order, saying it promoted religious profiling.&nbsp;Moitra and Jha said that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations do not permit QR coding. They cited a July 2024 Supreme Court order staying a similar direction of the Uttar Pradesh Police asking restaurant owners to display their names and those of their employees. The top court had then directed that no owner will be forced to display this information. Moitra and Jha’s pleas alleged that the fresh order was an attempt to “circumvent” the stay by introducing QR code requirements.&nbsp;A bench of justices MM Sundresh and N Kotiswar Singh said they will at this stage only pass an order that all owners shall comply with the mandate of displaying the license and registration certificates as required statutorily.When senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi, appearing for one of the petitioners, sought a clarification on whether the names of owners and those of employees need not be displayed on QR code, the bench said, “All these issues are left open. It sows the seeds of identity division, is a direct assault on secularism and is per se unconstitutional, violating right to equality, right to practice profession and right to life...”Singhvi further said that all the eateries along the Kanwar route strictly sell vegetarian food during this time of the year. “You can boycott a food based on the menu, not on the identity of the owner. Before issuing this order, they ought to have sought permission from court for modification of the stay,” Singhvi said.&nbsp;<h2>‘Devotees are highly sentimental; not a single owner approached the court’&nbsp;</h2>&nbsp;Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the state government, said the QR code order has been issued under the Food Safety and Standards Act. It must be his choice. Ultimately, the consumer is the king. SC refuses to stay UP’s Kanwar route QR code display order, tells eateries to comply

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha launched a dedicated web portal for terror victim families on Tuesday (July 22). The government says the step has been taken to provide institutionalised support to victims of terrorism.&nbsp;The web portal, developed by the Home Department in collaboration with NIC, will serve as a centralised platform to capture and maintain comprehensive district-wise data on terrorism-affected families. The details of any encroachments on the property of the victims or their NOKs are also being captured.&nbsp;“The initiative will streamline and expedite the process of providing relief, compassionate appointments, and other forms of assistance to those who have suffered from terrorism in the UT,” the Lieutenant Governor said.&nbsp;''It will ensure that no legitimate case is left unaddressed and timely support is extended to eligible families in terms of financial relief, ex-gratia compensation and compassionate employment while ensuring elimination of any bogus or multiple claims, '' he added.&nbsp;The Lieutenant Governor is personally monitoring and overseeing the redressal of all cases across the UT of J&amp;K. Toll-free helpline numbers have also been established at the offices of the Divisional Commissioners in both Jammu (0191-2478995) and Kashmir (0194-2487777) divisions, to facilitate the registration of any overlooked or pending claims.&nbsp;These helplines are being attended through dedicated control rooms as citizen interfaces for receiving grievances or queries related to pending government support to terror-affected families viz., compensation, ex gratia relief and Compassionate appointments.&nbsp;The helplines have been staffed with trained personnel and will be integrated with the centralised application to ensure that every claim is formally recorded and acted upon. In order to ensure regular oversight, coordination, and follow-up on the grievances and pending claims, Special Monitoring Cells have been constituted in the offices of Chief Secretary and Director General of Police.&nbsp;These special cells will periodically review the status of pending and resolved cases, analyse delays or bottlenecks in processing, and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely and just resolution of claims.

The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha launched a dedicated web portal for terror victim families on Tuesday (July 22). The government says the step has been taken to provide institutionalised support to victims of terrorism. The web portal, developed by the Home Department in collaboration with NIC, will serve as a centralised platform to capture and maintain comprehensive district-wise data on terrorism-affected families. The details of any encroachments on the property of the victims or their NOKs are also being captured. “The initiative will streamline and expedite the process of providing relief, compassionate appointments, and other forms of assistance to those who have suffered from terrorism in the UT,” the Lieutenant Governor said. ''It will ensure that no legitimate case is left unaddressed and timely support is extended to eligible families in terms of financial relief, ex-gratia compensation and compassionate employment while ensuring elimination of any bogus or multiple claims, '' he added. The Lieutenant Governor is personally monitoring and overseeing the redressal of all cases across the UT of J&K. Toll-free helpline numbers have also been established at the offices of the Divisional Commissioners in both Jammu (0191-2478995) and Kashmir (0194-2487777) divisions, to facilitate the registration of any overlooked or pending claims. These helplines are being attended through dedicated control rooms as citizen interfaces for receiving grievances or queries related to pending government support to terror-affected families viz., compensation, ex gratia relief and Compassionate appointments. The helplines have been staffed with trained personnel and will be integrated with the centralised application to ensure that every claim is formally recorded and acted upon. In order to ensure regular oversight, coordination, and follow-up on the grievances and pending claims, Special Monitoring Cells have been constituted in the offices of Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. These special cells will periodically review the status of pending and resolved cases, analyse delays or bottlenecks in processing, and coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely and just resolution of claims.

Air India said in a statement that it checked the locking mechanism of all such aircraft in its fleet and “found no issues.”&nbsp;"Air India has completed precautionary inspections on the locking mechanism of the Fuel Control Switch (FCS) on all Boeing 787 and Boeing 737 aircraft in its fleet. Boeing 737 aircraft are part of the fleet of Air India Express, Air India's low-cost subsidiary. With this, the two airlines have complied with the directives of the DGCA issued on July 14, 2025," the statement reads.&nbsp;"In the inspections, no issues were found with the said locking mechanism. Air India had started voluntary inspections on July 12 and completed them within the prescribed time limit set by the DGCA. The same has been communicated to the regulator," it added.&nbsp;Responding to a written question asked by Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas earlier this week, MoS Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol informed the Parliament that no adverse trend was flagged/reported in reliability reports of Air India during the last six months concerning AI171 that crashed in Ahmedabad last month.&nbsp;"During the last six months, no adverse trend has been reported in reliability reports of Air India in respect of crashed aircraft," the minister informed Rajya Sabha in his written reply.&nbsp;The minister, in his reply, also noted that a total of nine show cause notices had been issued to Air India in connection with five identified safety violations over the last six months.&nbsp;The Air India plane, flying to London from Ahmedabad, crashed into a hostel, seconds after takeoff. 241 passengers and crew, and 19 people on the ground, perished in the crash. The Indian Army on Tuesday received the first batch of Apache helicopters for its aviation fleet. The army described&nbsp;the arrival of the attack helicopters&nbsp;as a “milestone moment” for the force. The army said these&nbsp;state-of-the-art platforms will bolster its operational capabilities significantly. The consignment of Apache helicopters arrived at Hindon Airbase. The Indian Air Force already operates a fleet of 22 Apache helicopters, which have been deployed in Ladakh and western sectors.<h2>What are Apache helicopters? How capable are they?</h2><ol><li>Apache helicopters are attack choppers. They can carry a host of weapons, including air-to-ground Hellfire missiles, 70 mm Hydra rockets, and air-to-air Stinger missiles.</li><li>Apache helicopters can carry a 30 mm chain gun with 1200 rounds. The Apache helicopters also pack fire control radar with a 360° coverage and nose-mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems. Mohammad Hidayatullah’s early life Appointed as the 11th CJI of the nation by then President Zakir Hussain, Hidayatullah would emboss his name in Indian constitutional history during his tenure. Born in Betul (present-day Madhya Pradesh), Hidayatullah completed higher education at Trinity College at Cambridge University before returning to India. He had earlier completed his schooling at the Government High School of Raipur (now in Chhattisgarh). It was in 1930 that Hidayatullah first started his law career, having become an advocate in the Nagpur High Court while the nation was still under British rule. Over the years, he would serve as an advocate in Nagpur before taking his first job as a judge. Hidayatullah was appointed as an additional judge in the High Court of Central Provinces and Berar in 1946. He would later become the Chief Justice of the Nagpur High Court in 1954, before his extraordinary journey began. Having first been appointed as a judge at the Supreme Court in 1958, it was not until 1968 that President Zakir Hussain appointed Hidayatullah as the CJI. However, his appointment would turn out to be a historic moment in the Indian constitution. When President Zakir Hussain died in office, Vice President V. V. Giri acted as the president. Later, V. V. Giri resigned as the vice president and under the President (Discharge of Functions) Act, 1969, Hidayatullah became the acting president of India first from 20 July to 24 August. As per the Constitution of India, the chief justice of India shall act as the president of India in the event of the offices of both the president and the vice president being vacant. Having retired from active judicial duties, Hidayatullah was later elected as the vice president of India and served in the office from 31 August 1979 to 30 August 1984. Thereby, he became the first and to date the only Indian to serve in three apex constitutional offices in the largest democracy in the world.
