"These are very tough conditions, and it’s a very sensitive area. And till now, only men would be deputed in these high altitude areas for the protection of the borders. But now women are also being deputed here, and I am one among them, and I feel very, very proud. We get an extra four weeks of training, such as survival training, survival techniques, and to run the latest weapons. We are also trained and first given a proper acclimatization time to tackle the high altitude, low oxygen, and weather conditions," said Ruchi, Assistant Commandant, BSF. The BSF female squad also carries out patrolling and surveillance on the forward posts and near the fencing of the Line of Control. The northern part of the Kashmir Valley border was used actively during Operation Sindoor. This is the bordering area where the Indian Armed Forces destroyed terror camps across the border. The female soldiers of the Border Security Forces have gone through rigorous training in handling the latest arms and ammunition, including rifles like INSAS, AK-47, TAR, and SLR. They have also been trained to work in high altitude areas where there is less oxygen, snow-covered mountains, and minus 20 degrees. ''I am very proud of being deputed to the LoC. It was only male soldiers who were deputed on the line of control, and now we have been given a chance to secure the borders. I am very proud of the fact that I’ve been deputed here, and I am making sure to work very efficiently. We have been provided with the best and the latest arms and ammunition. It helps us to prevent infiltration from across the border. My message to the women of the country is that we as women are securing the borders of the country, and I would want more women to join the BSF," said Garima Jatt, soldier, BSF. In recent times, security forces have arrested dozens of women carrying arms and ammunition, as well as narcotics from the bordering areas into the hinterland. And to curb that, these female soldiers are of great help as well. The frisking and checking of women is easier than it was for the male forces to check women along the bordering areas.

The Pakistani PM said that India cannot snatch a drop of water from Pakistan.&nbsp;After the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people, India put the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance on April 23, in response to the deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir.&nbsp;Since then, Pakistan has been reiterating that any attempt to block the water flow to the country would be considered an act of war.<h2>'Pakistani's won't bow, will confront'</h2>On Tuesday, Pakistan's foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari issued another threat against India, saying that if New Delhi continues with its suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, then Pakistanis "won't bow and they will confront."&nbsp;He also claimed that Pakistan has gone to the world and spoken about peace, while India spoke about war, adding that Pakistanis must raise their voices against oppression.&nbsp;Prior to this, Indian politician Owaisi also reacted to Pakistani army chief Asim Munir's 'nuclear' threats, saying that the language he used is "condemnable".<h2>Munir's nuclear threat</h2>Asim Munir, during his visit to the US, said that his country will obliterate any dam that New Delhi builds on the Indus waters. In a big development, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid in India's Uri on Wednesday (Aug 13). The Indian Army, in a statement, said that one Indian Army soldier lost his life. It also said that two terrorists were killed in the same area a few days ago. Search operations are still continuing in the area, added the Indian Army officials. This morning it was reported that the Indian Army operation is underway in Churunda village along the Line of Control in Uri district of Kashmir. Earlier reports citing sources had said that it was an action by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT). But the Indian Army said later that it was not a BAT operation, and details are being ascertained.&nbsp;&nbsp;This comes amid tense relations between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in April this year. India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan and killing as many as 100 terrorists. Tensions rose after India's action, with Pakistan resorting to drone attacks on civilian and military areas of India's bordering districts. Both countries arrived at a DGMO-level ceasefire understanding after the Pakistani DGMO approached the Indian side after three to four days of intense offensive.&nbsp;<h2>What is BAT?</h2>Pakistan’s Border Action Teams (BAT) are elite units formed to carry out cross-border strikes along the Line of Control (LoC), combining personnel from the Special Services Group (SSG) and terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, and Jaish-e-Mohammad. These teams are reportedly trained by the Pakistani Army and Air Force, and specialise in guerrilla warfare and cross-border raids. Their operations are aimed at disrupting Indian defences and spreading fear, sometimes involving brutal acts such as beheadings.&nbsp;BAT units typically consist of a small group—around six to seven Pakistani soldiers along with local volunteers—who conduct reconnaissance of weak points along the LoC before executing attacks. Their training spans eight months with the Army and an additional four weeks with the Air Force, as per several reports. On July 27, 2024, a BAT attack in Kupwara injured five Indian soldiers, one of whom later died. Notable past attacks include the beheading of Indian soldiers in 2017 and 2020, and attempted intrusions in 2018 and 2019, which were repelled by Indian forces.

In a big development, the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid in India's Uri on Wednesday (Aug 13). The Indian Army, in a statement, said that one Indian Army soldier lost his life. It also said that two terrorists were killed in the same area a few days ago. Search operations are still continuing in the area, added the Indian Army officials. This morning it was reported that the Indian Army operation is underway in Churunda village along the Line of Control in Uri district of Kashmir. Earlier reports citing sources had said that it was an action by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT). But the Indian Army said later that it was not a BAT operation, and details are being ascertained. This comes amid tense relations between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in April this year. India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure inside Pakistan and killing as many as 100 terrorists. Tensions rose after India's action, with Pakistan resorting to drone attacks on civilian and military areas of India's bordering districts. Both countries arrived at a DGMO-level ceasefire understanding after the Pakistani DGMO approached the Indian side after three to four days of intense offensive. What is BAT? Pakistan’s Border Action Teams (BAT) are elite units formed to carry out cross-border strikes along the Line of Control (LoC), combining personnel from the Special Services Group (SSG) and terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, and Jaish-e-Mohammad. These teams are reportedly trained by the Pakistani Army and Air Force, and specialise in guerrilla warfare and cross-border raids. Their operations are aimed at disrupting Indian defences and spreading fear, sometimes involving brutal acts such as beheadings. BAT units typically consist of a small group—around six to seven Pakistani soldiers along with local volunteers—who conduct reconnaissance of weak points along the LoC before executing attacks. Their training spans eight months with the Army and an additional four weeks with the Air Force, as per several reports. On July 27, 2024, a BAT attack in Kupwara injured five Indian soldiers, one of whom later died. Notable past attacks include the beheading of Indian soldiers in 2017 and 2020, and attempted intrusions in 2018 and 2019, which were repelled by Indian forces.

It was the third bail Sushil had been granted since his capture in 2021. The dispute was triggered over a property issue, during which Sushil and his aides attacked Dhankar. The junior wrestler would later succumb to his injuries, after which Sushil Kumar went missing for 18 days.&nbsp;The two-time Olympic medallist was hiding from the Delhi police while on a run in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Haryana.
