Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi and his Nepalese counterpart flagged off the Janakpur-Ayodhya bus service.

"I am happy that Nepal PM came all the way from Kathmandu," PM Modi said with prime minister Oli at his side.

PM Modi also addressed the people of Nepal and expressed happiness over visiting the Himalayan nation. He stated that he wanted to visit Janakpur for long.

"India and Nepal have helped each other in times of need. Nepal prominently features in India's neighbour first policy. We assure that we will continue to stand with Nepal," Modi stated.

The Prime Minister said that India will make efforts to forge better connectivity with Nepal and boost cooperation in the field of science and technology. Both the leaders issued a joint statement.

"Relations between neighbours are different from others. Neighbours have always been our top priority," said Oli.

"We have agreed to address all matters by September 19, our Constitution Day," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met Nepal Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali in Kathmandu earlier today.
